Booked a non-smoking king suite. Arrived and the only room available was a double smoking room. Front desk helped us with a refund and we stayed at another hotel cross town. Call this hotel to confirm your room as their booking software isn't up to date when you book electronically. 2 stars for front desk helping us cancel and being nice/apologetic about it...there was nothing else they really could do. Otherwise review would be 0 stars for the misleading booking and inconvenience. read more

The Hampton Inn in Clinton NJ is a very nice property. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast, and comfortable beds. I had a good night sleep.Outdoor swimming pool If you driving to the NYC time square. The hotel property is about an hour and half drive to the city. I would recommend this hotel. read more

Well, we arrived quite late and were just excited to get into a room to rest. The first room we were assigned was apparently next to a pot smoker. Our room reeked of pot and they not only reassigned our room, they comped us a free night because of the disturbance. They sent someone up to our original room to check up on is. David was our front desk help and handled our situation great. We may or may not stay at this exact hotel again because of the location. But we are happy with the Hilton line after our wedding at a DoubleTree last October. read more

Staying here for 7 days and already problems on our second day. Yesterday, housekeeping came and cleaned our room, but failed to change our sheets. Today we left the room at 10:30 and came back at 4 and no one was in our room to clean at all, plus when I went downstairs, I was told that housekeeping already left. So I'm sitting in a dirty room with dirty unmade beds and no clean towels. The desk said they would send the maintenance person to clean. Still waiting. Finally arrived. The hotel was nice but I was told tea was available 24 hours a day. At 5 a.m. I couldn't sleep and didn't want to wake my husband so I thought I would get a cup of tea and watch the news in the lobby. When I arriv3d, the water was cold. I asked the employee who was making the breakfast for hot water. She informed me, in abrupt and no uncertain terms that it would not be available until 6a.m. and I would have to wait. No room when got to hotel, we had booked two double bed but had to give us a king with a pull out and gave us a roll away . AC didn't work but wasn't to hot so didn't complain as was so late we just wanted to sleep. Free breakfast and it was great. Gave us room for free since we had to wait an hour at midnight at check in deck to try find us a room. Manager David next morning was more than friendly. Will go back again and give them second chance and will update on here. For now 3 star as waited so long for room and AC. Clearly mix of great workers and hopeless workers. read more

Pretty normal for a Hampton. Clean, quiet and a good place for toast. The bed is comfortable and the room was clean. The area had several great restaurants and the shuttle service to the port is excellent. read more

Stayed only one night at the start of cycling the Katy Trail. Bike friendly. A little hard to get to but really a very nice Hampton Inn with a really nice staff. Room was as expected - clean, comfortable. Breakfast was just what we needed before hitting the trail. Probably the best hotel in town. read more

I arrived later in the evening and they made the check in very easy. They had little store of snacks at the front desk so I could grab something small on the way out. I stay at a lot of Hamptons, but this one by far was the worst in service. Had to go down twice to ask them to removed the spare bed out. Asked for an extra blow dryer but the woman at the front desk was rude about it and said "if" we have one we will send it up. Now I've worked for hotels before in my life and there is always a spare somewhere. And the biggest thing for me was how unprofessional the staff was. Every time I was down in the lobby I could over hear many conversations between the staff about things not being done, arguing, gossip and other things that guests just shouldn't hear. I over heard a woman(staff) bitching at one of the Maintance men about not fixing a fruit slicer that he had been putting off for two weeks. She was complaint because she had to slice it manually. I was appalled by the terrible customer service by senior management at this location. We tried to reserve a block of rooms for our wedding and found the GM to be 100 percent non-responsive. I reserved the block of rooms and asked several questions that needed to be looked into by management regarding certain arrangements for our guests. The GM repeatedly missed deadlines and was completely non-responsive. Often I was asked the exact same questions and had to keep on giving basic information (like my wedding date) because it was clear they were mixing me up with other people and not properly recording information I was giving them. Every time a deadline was missed or a mistake was made I was given a disingenuous excuse, like the GM was sick (as if no one else could have been making the inquiries required) or some unnamed subordinate had messed up the information in an email sent to me (even though it came directly from the GM). At one point I called and spoke to someone else and was told my block wasn't even reserved in the computer! And it was clear to me from speaking to one employee that other customers have complained about the same problem. After one month of this we gave up and went to another location. We simply could not trust management to properly handle our needs for our wedding weekend (which were not even complicated or out of the ordinary). In fact, the things we were asking from them the GM had told us were routine and could be handled easily. Oh, and I never heard back from them (and this is now 5 months later) on any of my concerns or to even confirm if we were still interested in having the block for our guests! Truly outrageous considering we were trying to plan a wedding and were supposed to be relying on them. The lack of consideration was absolutely shocking and I strongly recommend that anyone interested in reserving a block of rooms here or planning an event here think otherwise. It is clear this place is incredibly disorganized. The GM seemed very nice when we met with her in 11/13 but after that, we found that dealing with her and her staff was incredibly frustrating. read more

i stayed here with my husband on our anniversary. it was great the breakfast was good. then.. they called us after checkout and said we left cigarette butts and ashes in the room. we never smoked in the room!! they told us they were gonna charge us $250!!! theyre cleaners probably smoked in the room and felicia the lady at the front desk is so rude and unprofessional. be careful staying here, they will charge you extra money for something ridiculous. i hope you run out of business. scam artists. p.s. the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and no one from the staff came to make sure the guests were okay. terrible service. read more

Really enjoy staying here when we are traveling in the area. The staff is friendly and efficient, the rooms are clean and nicely appointed. We travel with our dog and the rooms we get are just as nice as any other room we have stayed in at this particular hotel. They have a continental breakfast that is not spectacular, but it does the trick and we usually take advantage of it when we stay there. read more

Pulled off highway at 11 pm to get a room on 8/8/14. Walked in and was greeted at front desk by a young women wearing a Beavus and Butt Head t-shirt that was several sizes too small. (sooooo unprofessional). She asked for all of my personal information and expected me to verbalize it back to her. I just handed her my drivers license so the other people in line wouldn't know my full name, address, etc. Then when we tried to get into our room we were having trouble with the key. After trying to get the key to work for a few seconds, a drowsy young man answered the door and informed us it was his room. Went back to front desk and waited while another customer gave front desk all of his personal info out loud. We decided to cancel our room reservation and drove down the road to Holiday Inn. HUGE difference in professionalism, quality of service and accommodation. Plus it was cheaper at Holiday Inn. read more

This hotel has the worst customer service we have ever experienced. It may be cheap, but it is not worth the headaches. The manager is clueless and it trickles down to the staff. Having family in the area, we have stayed at the Hampton Inn in Clinton probably once a month for the past year and a half. It has been affordable, with a convenient location and takes dogs, so we've made it work, despite the terrible food, ant infestations in our room and other noise issues we've experienced there. The last time we made a reservation to stay was a weekend in May, for our daughter's college graduation. We had plans to meet up with our elderly parents, who were also staying there, and spend a nice weekend together. Well... that didn't happen... We checked in online around 5:00 pm the evening of our arrival, choosing a room that we have stayed in before, knowing that we'd be coming in after midnight. So weren't we in for a surprise when we showed up at 1:30 am, with two sleeping kids and 3 dogs in tow, to find that THEY HAD GIVEN OUR ROOM AWAY to a GOLD member (unfortunately for us, we are ONLY SILVER!!), a fact that the young front desk clerk revealed as we struggled to understand what had happened to our room. Not only that, but they had cancelled our entire reservation and there were NO OTHER ROOMS AVAILABLE in the hotel. After much discussion and confusion, we asked to speak with her manager, whom she called and after she discussed the situation with her, let us speak to also. The manager, Patty, had no solution for us except to start calling other hotels in the area. At 3:00 am, the desk clerk found us a room at the Ramada Inn in Flemington, where we arrived bleary eyed at 3:30 am, only 3.5 hours from the time we had to get up. Upon arrival at the Ramada, we discovered that this hotel/motel was quite possibly the most disgusting place we had ever stayed. Filthy with a carpet that smelled like dead fish, and a broken toilet made me think that we should have slept in the car instead. It was a far stretch even from the modest Clinton Hampton Inn. We finally got to sleep around 5:30 am, sleeping until we got a banging on the door from the front desk clerk to make sure that we had arrived and were enjoying the room (?!). Thank you Hampton for paying for this rat's nest and for ruining what would have been a pleasant family reunion to celebrate our daughter's college graduation. We will NEVER stay at your hotel again! Patty, the manager was rude, showed us no compassion for the problem that they had created, and did not call us back the next day as promised to try to make amends for the situation. This is not how you treat people who have prepaid for a room two months in advance AND checked in online only a few hours earlier! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES! read more
