    Bathroom was spotless

Typical Hampton Inn, clean, quiet well maintained hotel. I am a Hilton Honors member, reservation was made via Hilton app, check in and check out were a breeze. Bed was a little hard and the pillows were too soft. Free internet connection was great, I had no issues using both iPad and MacBook. Breakfast was ok, potatoes and fresh fruit were good, wish bacon or sausage were available, I doo not eat eggs and was not in the mood for a waffle, coffee was meh, stopped at Pilot on next exit off highway for my morning cup of joe. Oatmeal had been sitting too long, cereal and yogurt was also available. I will not hesitate to stop by this Hampton Inn if I am ever kn the area again.

ROOM (2nd Floor - King Room) FRIDGE (Yes) MICROWAVE (Yes) COFFEE POT (Yes) IRON & BOARD (Yes) TV (LG 32" LCD HDTV) DESK (Yes) COUCH (Yes - Solo chair) FOLD OUT BED (No) INTERNET (Free WiFi & Wired) BUSINESS CENTER (Yes) FITNESS CENTER (Yes) POOL/JACUZZI (Yes/No) PARKING (Free Lot) RATE (July, 2013 - $119/night) PROS ** Charging Center by the Bed There's this cool little device on one side of the bed which is a charging port for cell phones. Brilliant! It's got 2 electrical outlets and 2 USB outlets. I LOVE THIS! I can't even express how much I love this. I'm always having to dig around the room looking for freaking electrical outlets to charge my phones (personal and work) and then have to sometimes walk across the room to turn of alarms or put them in the path to the bathroom (almost stepping on it). This just makes sense! ** Fridge AND Microwave Unlike a lot of Marriott Courtyards, Hampton Inn usually have fridges AND microwaves. Because I'm a Marriott Gold member now, they'll actually wheel in temporary tiny fridges into my rooms, but they're clearly afterthoughts. At Hampton Inns, they're permanent fixtures in the room, and I love them for it! ** High Ceilings Also typical of Hampton Inns, it just gives the room a more roomy and less claustrophobic feeling. ** Laptop table for using laptop in bed. While I'm not usually one for laptopping in bed, it's just nice that they give you that. You don't have to worry about the heat from the laptop burning your nuts off, and it's elevated too! CONS ** Chair Is Unstable The chair for the desk is this nice comfy leather chair with wheels, but I don't know if it's because the chair is bad or the carpet is too soft (which seems to me about par for the course for a hotel), but the chair doesn't want to roll if you're sitting in it like most office chairs. And even though it does have 5 legs/wheels, if you try to scoot forward, the back wheels will come up and try to tip you over! Be careful! OTHER COMMENTS I've always liked Hampton Inns, but since all the Hilton brand hotels are a little higher class, they're not as available as a Marriott, and that's why I made the decision in 2006 to book Marriott wherever possible to pool all my rewards. Marriott has Fairfield Inn (which is kinda ghetto) and Courtyard that are cheap so they're in all sorts of Bufu places...surprisingly not in Crossville though. Hampton Inn is probably in the price class of Courtyard, but has better amenities, and quality of rooms about the level of the standard Marriott brand (which is above Courtyard). So far, the last 2 Hilton brands I've stayed at, I've really appreciated the amenities...if only they were as prevalent as Marriott...oh well!

The view down the hall from our room. Construction, dust and building materials.

We had a great stay. Hotel was clean. Janet at the check in desk was great. Only complaint was breakfast ending a little before 10am.

Nice hotel. Get a room with an even number so freeway traffic can be avoided. The breakfast has a great variety of options to eat.

The initial booking interaction with the front office manager was excellent, and she went out of her way to make sure we were familiarized with the property, how to get in and out of the coded gate, and where to find our documents/keys, etc. as we were checking in late upon arrival. The cabin was beautiful, if not a tad outdated in the typical "Gatlinburg mountain-style" motif, and was settled nicely by itself without an immediate neighbor, so we felt very comfortable, secluded, and able to fully relax - the ideal weekend getaway environment! What was even better was the pricing. Our cabin was a 2 bedroom, 3 bath, fully stocked kitchen with all appliances, dishware, silverware, etc, and a living room area with 2 couches, a lounge chair, including a flat panel with tv access, and all across 2 stories. Everything was very well cleaned, the loft area was beautiful, and even had an in-room whirlpool-jetted tub. Everything they said they'd do, they did. Great service, nice location very close to the Fall Creek Falls State Park, and within 15 mins either way of the nearest town for additional options. Overall, we'd most certainly visit here again the next time we're looking for a hike along the beautiful falls nearby!

The man at the front desk moved at the speed of a snail--both times I had to interact with him. First time I came to check in, he was so slow I gave up and came back later. Surprise: still slow. He asked for my ID and credit card, then suddenly needed the exact card I paid with online. I didn't have it on me. He eventually accepted a different card for incidentals, but the whole thing was a frustrating, unnecessary hassle. I'm handicapped and requested a first-floor room. I was told they were all full, so he put me on the third floor--and the elevator was broken. No help offered. Nothing. Just a "sorry" and a room up a flight of stairs I shouldn't have had to climb. The noise was ridiculous for a hotel in the middle of nowhere. Thin walls, loud guests, and just my luck--a crying baby in the room next to me that went on and off all night. So much for getting any rest. The only redeeming quality was the size of the room and a comfortable bed. But even that was odd. The sheets weren't even on the bed--just kind of tossed there, like housekeeping gave up halfway through. What hotel hands you a DIY bed? This whole place is a mess. Save yourself the stress and book somewhere--anywhere--else.

Yelled at me without letting me speak, B. Threatened to call the cops on me, and C. Told me to have a "bad day." They obviously don't realize who they're messing with. I will NOT be letting this go. These people should not be in business. No accountability and excessive fees for minor issues (NO DAMAGE). ORIGINAL REVIEW: Let me start off this review with I broke a rule and understand there were consequences...however, the owner of this hotel took it too far. LONG REVIEW I got there at 7:30 or 8 at night with my dogs, bad from the start since I didn't realize they don't allow pets. Every Super 8 I've ever stayed at throughout the country allows pets and I am a cross-country road tripper, there's been a few. That's beside the point... I get upstairs to my room with all my stuff, not seeing the no pet sign at first. Didn't even see one clearly displayed at the entrance. If there is, they need to make it more prominent. To get to my second floor room, I was using their luggage cart to take my stuff up. I'm a tall person. The sign on the luggage cart was right in line with the sign on the wall so I missed it the first time. I did, however, see the sign when I came back up with my dogs, which, by the way, we walked through the lobby. So I decided that I was already breaking the rule, we may as well just go to bed. I had driven 13 hours (with stopping) that day from Oklahoma City. Everything was fine. We went to sleep. The room was small, but not bad. I got up this morning, took the dogs outside, and came back in to get our stuff ready to continue my trip from to North Carolina; I still had 6 hours to drive. One of the hotel workers sees me and says, "what room are you in?" Well, I could lie, but someone could either be in that room, or it could be vacant. Or I could tell the truth, so I told her what room I was in and that I saw the sign late and apologized. I go back upstairs and get in the shower. I get dressed, I'm getting our stuff ready to go and the owner calls me. I pick up the phone and know exactly what is going to be said. She immediately starts fussing. "Why didn't you read the sign?" I tried to explain. "I did see the sign, but it was too late by the time we got in, so I just was hoping to ask forgiveness rather than permission. We're about to leave anyway." She goes off, she's yelling over the phone. She threatens to call the cops. First of all, cops have more important things to do, but go ahead. Second of all, we caused ZERO drama. You didn't even know I had them until the morning and I had taken them out TWICE and, like I said, came into the lobby with them. So I told her "you do what you need to do" and I hung up. I got them together, got some of my stuff together, and made sure the room was clean because the only thing I left was an unmade bed and towels on the floor like you're supposed to to. So I go downstairs with my dogs, and most of my stuff to put them in the car. As soon as the elevator door opens, she starts yelling again and I'm walking by to go out. I put my hand up and tell her, "I'm not listening to you. You're gonna do whatever you're gonna do." She proceeds to call me a bitch and tells me that she hopes I have a bad day. The only reason she said that is because she didn't realize that I needed to come back in and get the rest of my stuff because when I came back in, she looked nervous like I was gonna do something. And if I knew that I wouldn't go to jail, then I would have smacked her. On top of all that, the penalty she gave me for breaking that rule was $200. TWO HUNDRED?! That's excessive. We left that room in better condition than people do with children. I truly hope she gets the karma. She deserves for wishing bad things to happen to people

The road parallel to the Interstate has all of the restaurants and shopping that you'll find here in Cookeville. But the town itself is unimpressive. But if you're going to be here, this hotel is a good choice. So far, this is the worst hotel stay I've had in the 5 months I've been on the road. I've been checked in for 2 weeks now and I've had absolutely no housekeeping. I've went downstairs and requested room service 3 times. Yesterday, I finally spoke to a manager and she informed me that housekeeping is afraid of my caged dogs. But she reassured me after my assurance that they'd be put away in my absence, that my room would be flipped. I let her know that I was away from my hotel room for the weekend and she said they were still there for the day, and here I am walking into my room, still hasn't been serviced. Seriously a bad representation of a Marriott location.
