Bathroom at the Hampton Inn, Deming
    Bruce K.

This was an overpriced points redemption. This property used to be only 10,000 points a night but in the last while, they have raised it to 20,000 points and that's 10,000 points too many. I'm disappointed with this new pricing scheme. For 10,000 points, this would be great. It's clean, it was quiet, it is close to the highway, the breakfast was consistent with the Hampton brand (and I've stayed at over 70 Hampton Inns in the last dozen years, 10 in the last two years https://www.yelp.com/collection/eAMN-dsXYE_JjkcSLkQUoA/All-hail-Hilton) and there was sufficient parking. This is no bargain at all. Oh, and when you turn off the lamp, that also turns off the outlets on the lamp. Fortunately, I had time in the morning to plug my phone in to a different outlet and charge it from zero. [Review 17266 overall - 45 in New Mexico - 784 of 2022.]

This was a treat and here's why.... Cleanliness: everything from the remote control being in a bag to the room being extremely clean, I was beyond comfortable in this room. Sanitizer around the hotel, and everything appeared to be spic and span! Breakfast: this was a full breakfast. On our road trip we have been grossed out by some of the "free breakfast". Here it's clean, tons of options, and an attendant to help you with your needs. Nancy was on staff and was a huge help. All the channels you and your kids could want on the tv, but why watch tv when you can swim?!?! The pool is open from 6am- 10pm, so early birds and late check ins can enjoy. Would stay here again!

On the Saturday afternoon when we checked in the young woman at the front desk could barely contain her excitement at having just received news that the Deming Hampton had been given a "Connie Award". Named after Hilton founder Conrad Hilton (Hamptons are a Hilton property) this is a big deal for a small town Hampton. Apparently awarded here for good GSI (Guest Satisfaction Index) scores. That was our first glimpse at the pride in ownership among all hotel employees that makes this a very good choice if you're passing through Deming. Arguably this hotel is the class of the company of all Deming lodging. BOTTOM LINE: This is a relatively new Hampton so staying here provides the benefits associated with most new hotels - not much wear and tear to date in rooms or public spaces. There were mostly good things here. We'd stay here again if we were in Deming. STAFF: Very friendly. Efficient check in and check out. SPARKLING CLEAN: Everywhere: Public spaces and rooms. ROOMS: Comfy beds and pillows, although rooms smaller than most other Hamptons we've used. Bathroom well laid out with shower only - a format we like a lot. Good quality towels, Grab bar in shower great safety add. Lots of counter space. BREAKFAST / GATHERING ROOM: Spacious, attractive, lots of seating. BREAKFAST: Standard Hampton fare - as long as hotels offer yogurt and fruit, we're happy. NOISE: We had a third floor (top) floor room, facing front so while quieter for freeway noise, there was a "clunking" during much of the night that sounded as if it was coming from roof vents above(?). TIPS 1) ROOMS IN FRONT HAVE LESS FREEWAY / TRAIN NOISE: Added benefit of front facing room is nice outlook on mountains too. 2) AVOID ROOMS AT FRONT THAT SIT ABOVE THE POOL: Outside patio at pool with doors opening on to it means that sound travels up. 3) NICE LITTLE WINERIES IN TOWN WITH TASTING ROOMS: If you're looking for things to do in Deming, you might consider these. Luna Rossa Winery is a small endeavor by husband - wife owners, he a vintner originally from Italy, great fun to visit with a very nice tasting room. Also big wine producer St. Claire Vineyards has a Deming tasting room.

How high up the shower head is, how far back the bench is, do they think I have super long arms?
    kevin t.

The room is beautiful. The front desk staffers, Robert and Marcus, frigging amazing. The bed.. I am not going to be able to tell you. I'm handicapped. I ask for a handicapped room. The bed is higher than my knee. I cannot get into the bed. I'm in a frigging wheelchair. I can't exactly STAND. The bed is too high. Whoever designed the handicapped room, isn't handicapped. What an idiot designer. Handicapped people need lower beds. What the HELL were you thinking? The bathroom, is HUGE. The shower is so nice.. except::the bench they put in, is so far back, do they think I have monkey arms, to turn on the water? The hand held shower is 5 ft from the floor. um.. disabled, mean anything to you? If I sit in the bench.. there is nothing I can do no water.. no shower head.. disabled.. I am disabled. What part of disabled do you not understand?

    Smoothies!! They were both delicious.
    Constance A.

This area definitely felt safe. Loved the breakfast area they had as I haven't been to a hotel where there were smoothies and an egg frittata. Usually they're just scrambled eggs. The waffles looked good, but I didn't have any. Room was clean, price not bad for a last minute reservation being an hour out from arrival.

This was the light fixture in the entry way of the room.

Their FREE…read morebreakfast was delicious and in my opinion was in a very nice dining hall and it made me feel very important and fancy, you know? The dining area was really neat and clean and it gave me a luxurious feel and I can appreciate it very much because to me it shows that they are put a lot of care into making sure their guests are taken care of. I called ahead to see if there was availability first, what rooms were available and what time check out was. The photos of the hotel were very lovely and I loved that the pool was so big and nice so I was excited about being able to swim in it too. Unfortunately, their pool was closed (chained up), and I wish there was a warning sign about that because I really wanted to swum and it looked really nice. Again, their dining hall for the free breakfast was so nice. I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast and only wished my family had joined me because they had hot and fresh eggs, grits, sausages, oatmeal, biscuits and fruits, oranges. The spread was definitely amazing and the one to beat. You could make your own waffles, they had cereal (Kix and Fruit Loops), yogurt and toast and just so much! I'll share a video of what I saw. Check out was at 11am. It was roughly $107 in total for a one night stay and that was a very reasonable price in compared to our previous stay at another hotel/motel in Arizona (please refer to that review). Checking in was really quick and the woman at the desk when I checked in was very accommodating. We checked out right before 11am and had to drive roughly 8 hours home when I realized I left some headphones in our suite. Called to ask them about it the next day and was told by the woman on the phone (that I will assume is the Manager), Heather, to call back the next day (she's working) and she'll get something squared away so that I can have my headphones back. I truly appreciate that so much and it's one of the reasons why I gave this place 5 stars.

It was a very long drive, but I did have 3 stops along the way which averaged to 3 hours of drive time per stop. I try not to spend too much time at each stop unless I'm shopping for plush toys for my daughters which I did on a few occasions LOL. Anyway, back to this review, check-in was fast and easy. Just needed to show my ID. Staff was friendly and pleasant. Got some information about the hotel amenities and free continental breakfast times. Got my room key and I was on my way to a good cold shower and some peaceful sleep LOL. I was fortunate to get a 1st floor room. It was big and spacious with a king size bed. It also had a big desk, TV, microwave, and small frig. The bed was comfortable, but something about their clumpy pillows... they need to replace the pillows for better head support. The other thing that I didn't care for was the lingering musky smell of the shower curtains. Just wasn't pleasant. Luckily, I was only there for one night and just needed one shower LOL. Otherwise, I would have asked them to change the curtains. Continental breakfast was decent. They have the waffle machine to make fresh waffles. They had bagels, muffins, cereal, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, apples, OJ & apple juices, etc. I just went for the raisin bagels (this was really good... it doesn't take too much to please me... just be the real deal LOL) and OJ (this was okay). Check-out was fast and easy. Just turned in the room key and left. Now that I think about it, the staff didn't print out any bill statement for me. Room was already paid for so I guess that's okay. Would I stay here again? I would if I'm going on a similar road trip. But next time, I'll probably fly. Thank you La Quinta!

Because of my bad shoulders, and my room was upstairs (no elevator, ugh!), the desk clerk helped bring my luggage upstairs, which I thought was very thoughtful of him. And, when I went to give him a tip, he turned it down! And the next morning, the same guy was on shift, and he helped me get my luggage to the car. And again, did not accept a tip! I had parked right in front of the lobby in order to check in, and unload my luggage, which was a red zone. So when I went to move my car, the clerk told me that I could leave it there. However, the driving instructor in me couldn't handle that. Haha. But he did let me park my car in front of the low brick work, which is still right in front of the lobby. Now I don't mind the carpet being a bit messy, as overall the room is very clean and tidy. But, the bed is firmer than I would like (a decent nights' sleep). The A/C works well. Though, the cycling on/off is a bit noisy. Now, this will bother some people, but not others. While I enjoy having the A/C blow directly on me while driving, and after working outside, I don't like it blowing on me while I'm trying to sleep). And, there was no way to deflect it, except for bringing the sheet all the way up. At present it is still daylight, so I don't know what effect outside lighting will have on the room. But if I need to add anything, I will edit the review tomorrow. Several of the electrical outlets are loose. Either the receptacle would push in, when I try to plug in something. Or, was so loose that the slightest tug would dislodge my cell phone charger. Other than the carpet, the noisy cycling of the A/C and a little bit of mildew in the grout of the shower tiles, the place is really very nice, and quiet! And, the night time view with a room, was night time! The water in the bathroom was nice and hot and the pressure was pretty good too. However, I was surprised that there were no grab bars in the shower. Edit 1: Well, I'm glad I'm not here for the view. While I do overlook the courtyard and pool, I also have a great view (sarcasm intended) of the roof of the restaurant kitchen. Edit 2: Forgot to mention the Wi-Fi. While I'm use to using it at home, to help save bandwidth on my cell phone bill, I don't use it very often in the field... However, the Wi-Fi here was very reliable, and imo very fast. At no time, did the connection drop. Nor, was connecting an issue.
