Towel Claw missing back of bathroom door.

Stayed at the Hampton Westminster last Friday and Saturday night for my boys' elite traveling soccer team. My wife and I spend 30-40 nights a year in hotel rooms and have been Diamond Members for a while. This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I have encountered. We checked in late (10:40 PM) after a near 7 hour drive. The check in process went quickly. As we walked to the room, my boys and I immediately smelled cigarette smoke in the stairwell, hallway and in our room. Then, when I set up the sofa bed, we could find no sheets, pillows, or blankets for the pull out bed. When I went downstairs, the night desk attendant told me that housekeeping was closed. He was able to find a mattress cover and a blanket. He told me he would look for a pillow and bring one up to the room. I also noted the cigarette smoke and was told he had smelled it as well "but that there wasn't much he could do about it." I went back to the room. 40 minutes later I was asleep, having borrowed a pillow from my son's bed. In the morning, we discovered the shower had no soap or body wash. In addition, when you pulled up the lever for the tub spout diverter, 1/3 of the water squirted/leaked out of the side, causing the shower pressure to be light. Instead of a towel claw hanger on the back of the bathroom door, there was a knob and a screw (see picture). And the lock on the bathroom door did not work (not fun with 2 teenage boys in the room). When I reported the problems to the front desk that morning (a new woman) informed me that housekeeping and maintenance were not in and she couldn't do anything about those things right now. It was 7:15 AM, we were leaving for the soccer fields. They had just taken both containers of coffee from the station and informed me and others waiting it would be at least 15 minutes before more coffee was brewed (a cardinal sin for parents heading to early morning soccer games). We left and I stopped at Starbucks on the way. When we got back to the hotel at 1:30 PM, I informed the 3rd desk attendant about the problems and he said he would have housekeeping bring up some pillows. He handed me a handful of small body wash bottles and told me they no longer put them in the showers, that they had shampoo and conditioner but that "I had to ask for body wash". Five minutes later he brought pillows up to the room. Walking down the hallways, the light of day revealed just how dirty the hallways were, with dirt and dust meeting the walls by the carpets edge needing to be vacuumed. There were also cuts in the carpet and scratches/scrapes/wallpaper tears in the walls. Sunday morning my boys and I went downstairs for breakfast at 8:30 AM. The toast, bagel, muffin station was nearly empty. When we asked if they were going to put more out, we were told that they didn't usually restock so late. We have stayed in Hampton Inn's before and usually prioritize Hilton. The only thing similar about this place was the sheets on the boy's beds. Everything else from the soaps, to the decor, to the dinginess of the place screamed the facility had been converted from another hotel and the new owners had done as few renovations as possible. What bothered me the most, was the complete lack of customer service and any type of apology. I get that many places are understaffed. But, I haven't experienced such a lack of care or professionalism in many years of traveling for work, for elite traveling soccer league games and tournaments, or for family roadtrips and vacations. The only bright spot is that we were in late Friday night and out Sunday morning, and spent most of our time on the soccer fields and away from the hotel.

The worst hotel stay in 32 years, HORRIBLE AVOID!!!!! For the record: * No Internet (Others complained that this is the same story for 4 months) * No TV * No paper towels in lobby bathroom. * No shower gel * Evening desk clerk did not extend my stay as he assured me he did * Dirty water came out of faucets in the morning * Rude staff, on their phones while you stand and wait, extremely rude and kept lying to me and others, not at all professional * Broke into my room, literally tried to walk in but 911 told me to try to keep them out, they were on the phone when the 3 black woman tried to enter my room by force and injured my shoulder. * Called the police for NO reason, just to make a point * Injured my right shoulder, MRI appointment Oct 31 * I filed a health report with the City of Westminster for water quality, dirty rooms, YOU MUST AVOID, see other reviews on this site and others. The owners know of the issues and mislead people.

Very unhappy about this place. Thought my family and I would get a good nights rest after a long drive into town. We booked thru Hotels.com we checked into our room and as soon as we opened the door had a very very strong smell of urine thru out the entire room, decided I would ask for a room change, got it checked into that one and the room had not been serviced trash on the ground, mini fridge had days old food maybe weeks with a foul smell, dead roaches in the bathroom and closet area, by this point I had enough and wanted a refund, when I asked for a refund I was denied said I had to speak to someone else about it, asked for the information on getting a refund and was ignored, instead the guy offered me third room... I once again gave him the benefit of the doubt and took the room for it to turn out the same as the others urine smell trash on the floors and obviously not cleaning or teach by housekeeping. Went back again and demand a refund this time it was someone else, figured they would understand... I was wrong this man literally said he can't give me a refund because the company would not be paid... I again asked for info on getting my refund and again was ignored and given a run around, 3 hours later from the first check in I'm ready to walk away. I kindly asked him to check us out he said he would and never did. Come to know they shelter the homeless, the way I found that out is he blamed the uncleanliness on the homeless they shelter.... No one should have to experience that. How is this place still open??

    Bed bug bite
    Gabriela H.

STAY AWAY BED BUGS FOUND AT THE HOTEL. DESPITE HAVING PROOF OF BED BUGS IN ROOM THE HOTEL CLAIMED THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY EVIDENCE. IT'S CLEAR TO SEE THIS HOTEL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE GUESTS AND ABOUT THE STATE OF THE HOTEL. THEIR NEGLIGENCE AND LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY WILL ONLY HARM THEIR PROSPECTIVE GUESTS. We spent one night here and it was a horrible experience. After the first and only night spent here, I woke up with bug bites. We checked the mattress for bed bugs and there they were. At this point the bites were so inflamed and so itchy, I DID NOT want to risk spending another night in this hotel because I was already so uncomfortable and suffering from the bed bug bites and it was just the start of my vacation. We went out to the front desk and I told them about the situation and checked out and told them I wanted a refund for the stay. The receptionist said they'd get back to me early next morning. It's 10:45 am next morning and no call so I call them and the receptionist sounds like she has no idea what happened so I give my contact info again and they say they're gonna call back within an hour. Finally at 1:46 pm they call back and say they didn't see bed bugs so they need proof in order to refund my stay. I email them the picture and video I took as requested and they reply with the most unprofessional email saying "I will look into this and get back to you" no signature or anything. They finally get back to me and say "i refunded one nights stay sorry for the inconvenience" and sign it "Tricia." I don't know if I was speaking to a receptionist or manager or anything. I need the refund for the whole stay not just one night. Sorry for the inconvenience was the most inappropriate response because it is way more than an inconvenience to get bitten by bed bugs and have the bites swell up and ruin my vacation. No care or professionalism from whoever I was even speaking to.

Food was delicious Room has good space Bed-couch Found a baby sock under a bed Red rug stain ‼

Some type of powder left in the hallways

Right when we arrived we felt unsafe due to the lack of lighting in the parking lot. Similar to someone else's review there was no one to greet us at the front desk, no bell, we had to wait a while until the employee came to help us check in. We asked if there were any 1st floor rooms available and the male employee very quickly answered no without even checking the availability. The employee was rude and unwilling to help us, definitely lacks people and customer service skills. I would not recommend.

Shower: The "rain" style shower head was mounted fairly high and worked well. The manufacturer of the "Nourish" brand shampoo trumpets high-end, luxury products, but goes to great lengths to hide the ingredients; it turns out that the shampoo contains SLS, which many people find drying and rash-inducing. Security: Like most hotels, Drury Plaza is situated in a "transitional space" which invites ne'er-do-wells. The outside is ringed with good lighting and cameras. Inside, the staff is very alert. While I was at the buffet, a non-guest wandered in; it took less than 30 seconds for a manager to redirect the interloper to the door, and numerous staff members materialized and cheerfully greeted everyone in the area (presumably to make sure that everyone belonged). Food: The "Evening Kick-Back" is a full meal. They rotate between three buffet-style menus, but there are enough extras to mix-and-match a wide variety of meals. At the height of a flu outbreak, I saw a lady cough into her hand then handle half a dozen serving utensils...everyone following her picked up a nice dose of virus. No hand sanitizer was provided (which meets the local health code--I checked--but many other states require sanitizer stations at buffets).

The conference room we've been using is always clean with coffee/tea and ice water available all day. The bar/eatery onsite called The Placery has a limited but yummy menu--during happy hour, I ordered the chicken tortilla soup today with a slice of NY cheesecake, and a glass of their Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was particularly delicious--Patricia the bartender told me that this Canvas brand of wine is only available at Hyatt hotels though it's grown in Napa Valley. Intriguing! Patricia was also really nice to converse with, she's definitely a people person! The fitness room is open 24/7, with a decent selection of free weights, a cable column machine weight machine and various cardio machines. The indoor pool is open during the day. Coin operated washing machines and dryers for $2 each, and single load laundry detergent and dryer sheets available at the front desk ($9 total). Just behind the hotel are the easily accessible bike/pedestrian trails called the Big Dry Creek Trail. On top of it all, today it snowed outside! Noticing my lovely check in lady was having difficulties, and when asking, she said she would get it straighten, no problem on my side. Service dog and I went to our Queen room, and crashed. Perfect size, nice bed, very comfortable, minor room temperature while facing West, the sun creates more heat ergo I turned the thermostat as low as possible. The downstairs construction did not add any noises, each Guest Agent were extremely polite, the elevators worked great, and the luggage carts were not too difficult to operate given I was severely under the weather; Yet a great place to recover over Christmas eve and day.
