Lots of positives here - large, clean room and bathroom, well supplied with pillows, towels and toiletries. Plenty of free parking and walkable to countless restaurants as well as a quiet residential neighborhood behind the hotel. Some good, healthy breakfast options, and the staff kept it stocked and the tables cleaned. The only negative was that the ventilation for the bathroom didn't seem to be working in our room, and the shower door was not quite level and would slide open by itself. read more

Waited 8 minutes for someone to check us in; they were on rounds so we had to wait. Friendly staff but doesn't really talk. I didn't get asked if I want to use another card. I always state in my profile no rooms near the elevator and sure enough it's right next to it: and the toilet was broken. The seat was off the hinges completely and someone could get hurt. And the toilet didnt shut off. I moved down the hall and the room is much better. It's odd the sink is separated from the toilet and the toilet itself is for children not adults. Being disabled I had a hard time using it. The shower was clean as was the room. It's definitely dated but taken care of. It needs some upgrades but good price for no parking fees. I would give them zero if I could. Staff including the GM are absolutely low class and unprofessional. They fight each other in front of the guests and argue with the guests as if they own the company. Some of them look scary and intimidating. I had to lock my stuff in fear of being stolen. Safety and security of their guests is not their priority and is constantly violated by the staff. The rooms are dirty and old. After eating the breakfast, I had diarrhea for a week. Walls are paper thin. You can hear people in the hallway and the next room clearly. Some of staff are not so nice.

I've stayed here before, and it was fine. This time, not so much. The location is good, aside from some road construction nearby. The room itself was nice; however, the location of the room was less than desirable. The elevator mechanism might as well have been inside my room. Further, the television was unreliable at best. In the middle of a show (on any given channel), the signal would be lost. Irritating to say the least. I will likely stay elsewhere for my next visit. Unfortunately, the included breakfast doesn't make it worth it. Not what one would expect from a Hilton property, especially given the nightly rate. I am adding 2 stars for 2 reasons. 1. I felt safe inside and around the property. Nuf said these days, amiright? Also, there is a 7-Eleven literally across the street - walking distance. Both true statements, not necessarily related. Or are they? (Oh, that wasn't reason #2. That was emphasis for star #1.) 2. The customer service was top notch. I neglected to mention that after bringing the elevator noise to the attention of the front desk, I was offered room #207 - see floor map pic. At the time, I didn't know about the storage space, and I thought room #207 was just on the other side of the other elevator, so I declined. The hotel was at capacity, and that was the only room clean and available at the time. Later in the day, I was out and about and I received a call on my cell from the front desk. The employee had received a note to reach out to me regarding changing rooms. The room offered was again #207, and although I now knew about the storage space, I was not in a position to gather my belongings and relocate. I again had to respectfully decline. All that said, my point is -- decent customer service is becoming increasingly difficult to find these days and the employees at this property deserve a "shout out." As well, it dawned on me, the "dings" -- room location v. elevator noise and crappy TV signal -- are not the fault of the employees and do not warrant the star deductions. My review is more of a "know before you go." #kbyg I'll take safety and remarkable customer service over having to use a white noise app to drown out the sound of the elevator and being forced to not watch TV. (P.S. I was in town, where I grew up, to be with my mom before and after some medical stuff, so no Judgy McJudgersons about me wanting to watch a little television. Please and thanks.) It's an average Hampton Inn. Rooms were clean, which is the most important thing to us. Breakfast was bad and there was some loud talk guy in the kitchen making a scene. He worked there. Desk attendant was very nice but none of the keys he made worked. Annoying but nothing bad. read more

Stayed here for 1 night in May while in town visiting a friend. Check in was smooth and the staff was friendly. My room was on the 5th floor and right next to the elevator which I was a little worried about but I don't think I heard any noise from it all night. Room was very clean and had a little fridge, microwave and coffee maker. I had forgotten to pack a couple items but the front desk gave me what I needed and even saved me from buying something in the lobby market when they had a complimentary item behind the desk. Points for saving me $4!! Breakfast was good and had waffles, cheese omelets, sausage, oatmeal, breads and pastries. I was full and fully caffeinated when I checked out. We have stayed at the Fairfax Hampton Inn over the last two years while visiting our daughter at George Mason. This property has gone through several remodeling projects over the last two years, and is a very nice hotel to stay at if you're visiting Fairfax. The rooms are updated, the gym has high end equipment with free weights, and the property is extremely clean. The rooms have always been clean, with nice soft towels in the bathroom. The breakfast food changes daily and is alway hot and fresh. The management and staff are always friendly and helpful. The hotel is always full of "Mason Parents" for socializing. The hotel is 15 minutes to Dulles or 25 minutes to Reagan airport. Many restaurants close by, with a wine bar within walking distance to the hotel. There are many hotels to choose from in Fairfax but we found this Hampton Inn to be fairly priced and conveniently located near George Mason University. read more

For the price, the Hampton Inn is an adequate accommodation for a few nights. The beds are comfortable as are the pillows. There are enough blankets to stay warm. The desk area is large, and if it's a room with a small couch, it's sufficient as well. The bathroom is pretty spacious with plenty of towels and a hairdryer. The staff at check-in have always been friendly as have the breakfast attendants. During COVID, there were attendants to serve the food but now it's self-serve. The breakfast, which is free with your stay, is actually decent. You can try DIY waffles with two types of batter. There are bagels and muffins, oatmeal, a variety of cereals, yogurt, milk, juices, and some fruit options. There is also a hot food option. I've had the cheese omelettes, the western omelettes, maple sausage, scrambled eggs-all have been better than expected for a hotel. I've noticed this is frequently used by business travelers as well as GMU parents. While there is no pool, if you're just looking for a decent quality place to lay your head, then this is your spot! read more

You cant go wrong with a Hampton inn.... we were there 3 nights. They never once cleaned the room, brought towels, etc... we were in and out so I just asked for towles. By the last night the trash was overflowing and the towels were in a big pile by the toilet. I asked for more towels and said, "you ever going to run a vacuum over the rug and pick up the wet towles?" I was then told maid service was by request only! To recognize the work that goes into just staying in the hospitality business, I give this inn five stars. This five-story older-vintage Hampton has everything in good repair, my room was clean, the bathroom was very newly redone, and both wi-fi and breakfast were free. It's a perfectly reasonable place to spend a night or two. The hamptons seem to have two king bed flavors, soft and hard, and you never know which one you'll get LOL! This one was on the softer side and very comfortable. The usual four pillows so you can choose between squishy or not. My basic king room had a small fridge and a microwave - I guess that made it a "suite" in hotelspeak. There was also a very good desk and work chair, but no wall thermostat tho and the window A/C unit was typically noisy. Tech in the room was OK: solid wi-fi, a 32 inch flat-screen TV with some lo-def and some hi-def channels, and two very convenient charging stations with regular and USB plugs. The bath had a new, high vanity with a granite top, plus an updated tub-shower. Also the standard tiny coffee maker. Does anyone really use these laughably small machines with their ancient sealed-in-mylar coffee grounds when there's free coffee in the lobby 24x7? I wonder. Their breakfast room is small but about the right size for this property. Breakfast offerings covered the standard Hampton menu: make-your-own waffles, pre-fab omelettes and bacon, oatmeal, cereals, yogurts, juices and a better-than-average selection of cakes and breads. The coffee here was a cut above the usual hotel coffee, certainly hot and strong. FItness center had two treadmills and two other machines, also free weights. Located right on Lee Highway aka Virginia Route 29, between a muffler shop and a car wash, guess your car will feel at home too :). Most rooms face to the side so the traffic noise wasn't a problem. You can easily walk to a few restaurants (BK across the street and a New Mexican place next door), and if you like a long walk, make your way on foot into old town Fairfax, about 15 minutes. My base rate was over a buck and a half for mid-week in April, that seemed a bit too high for this side-of-a-highway place with no pool, but I guess the demand is high here. read more

This was a great choice for our work trip that also allowed quick access to DC at a reasonable price. It also has an amazing italian restaurant next door that you have to try. Back to the actual hotel though: I like Hampton hotels in general, but it's clear this one is a little old. It didn't bother me much though, the beds were very comfortable and clean, the bathroom was a decent size for a hotel and had some actual counter space (can I hear a 'hell yes', ladies?). It's also a pretty quiet hotel. Either I didn't have people next door to me, or I couldn't hear them at all. Warm breakfast offered every morning but it's meh, don't expect deliciousness, but do expect that it's free and you shouldn't complain about free food that you don't have to buy in the DC area. read more

We needed a hotel that was close to the wedding venue. We traveled from Ohio to FairFax , VA. We arrived and our check in was effortless. Later that evening after the wedding rehearsal, we arrived back at the Hampton had the best desk staff ever. A guy named Frankie was so very personable. I was traveling with my sister and elderly mother. Frankie sat and talked to my mom. Frankie made her laugh and took good care of her. Frankie was calling her grandma like he was part of the family. The breakfast was good. Our rooms were clean. The maintenance man named james was so very helpful. i asked for an extra trash bag and he brought them to the room. The hotel staff was amazing. Between 3 & 4 stars. Older hotel - but in pretty decent condition. You can tell it's dated from the carpets & lighting & artwork, but they've updated the important things. Bed is comfy. TV is flatscreen & a decent size. They added those cool outlet things where needed (desk & nightstand) (see picture). Cons: - Front desk staff seem slightly unpolished, I overheard an extremely awkward conversation between a staff member & guest, won't go into the gory details. - Water doesn't seem to get very hot - at least in my shower. Maybe it was the time of day? But I really like to scald myself, & I had it alllll the way to hot & it was just a shade above warm. As a Hilton Honors member, I prefer to stay at true Hilton branded hotels (not the Hampton Inns, Double trees etc). I may be crazy but in my opinion, the level of service seems to be much more consistent. On this occasion, I was forced to stay at the Hampton Inns because my preferred location was fully booked. The hotel was somewhat dated and as others have mentioned my room had an odd "old people smell" (don't judge me and no offense to seasoned folks). In addition, the air conditioning in my room was wwwaaayyyy too noisy so I had to resort to turning it off to be able to sleep. All that aside, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service. Roji was very pleasant and helpful. My room had all of the toiletries i requested and then some (mouthwash, shoe mit, toothpaste, vanity kit etc).The lady from the kitchen even made me a to-go snack bag as I was leaving for the office that morning because I couldn't have breakfast. All in all, I would return just for the service but perhaps some updates would be a plus. read more

Ah, the Hampton Inn. I haven't been in a Hampton Inn since I was a recruiter and had to travel South Georgia. It's pretty much a decent chain that you know will always have interior access to rooms, breakfast in the morning and towels that dont smell like they have been over saturated with chemicals. It looks like the Hampton Inn chain has gone through a major brand makeover. Kudos on the upgraded bathrooms and making them a bit more modern and large. The rest of the place was quite the same with tiny pillows for a king sized bed and a green sofa where the only other place I could find something like that would be in my Grandma's house. Definitely a downgrade from my stay at the Hotel Palomar on Dupont Circle in Washington DC, but I appreciate that Hampton Inn is continuing to improve. Rather stay here than at a Holiday Inn anyday! read more

I was a little disappointed with our stay here, my friend and I were in town for a concert, check in was easy, friendly front desk... room had an empty Cheesecake Factory box in it. No big deal. The room was stuffy and our A.C was not kicking on. The housekeepers woke us up at 8 am being extremely loud in the hallway. Hampton Inn in Fairfax, Virginia is a well maintained, reasonably priced hotel sited in a convenient, safe business district. The location is along U.S. 50 (Lee Jackson Hwy.) with close access to I-66, VA 29 and Chain Bridge Road (VA 123), adjacent to Oakton and Vienna. Dulles Airport is about 20-25 minutes away--west on U,S, 50, then north on VA 28. Photos at the start of this article represent typical rooms. Linens were freshly laundered, and rooms and common areas were clean and attractive. Low noise levels--including traffic and air conditioning-- made for a good night's sleep. Breakfast included hot omelettes and sausages, cook-your-own waffles, fruit, bagels, hot oatmeal, muffins and four varieties of regular and decaf coffee. Amenities included parking, television, phone, desk with computer power, WiFi, reading chair, refrigerator, microwave, clock, clothes iron, hair dryer and ice machines. No swimming pool, exercise room or exotic features. Staff--on duty 24 hours-are friendly and helpful. A power spike upset the office computer temporarily, but the desk clerks compensated quickly with backup services, and nothing interrupted a pleasant stay. read more

Very accommodating staff that wants to make your stay great, but my room's individual climate control was not working properly. It had a heat and cool setting, which you could set at high, low, or auto. Nothing would happen when I set either heat or cool at high or low- the heater/AC would do nothing. If I set it at auto, it would only start up after 15 min and would stop after a couple of minutes, even though the room wasn't even remotely close to the temperature I set it at. I usually sleep with the temperature at about 68 degrees; I had to set this one at 62 degrees on auto to reach about the same climate I usually sleep in. The AC machine was also so loud that it actually woke me up once in the middle of the night. This is remarkable for me because I always sleep with a fan on low at home as white noise, so that's how loud it was. The bed was also a bit harder than I was expecting / than what I experience at most hotels. I still slept fine but just an FYI. read more

Yup - yup. A moderately priced, reasonably located Hampton Inn, with the amenities you would pretty much expect with this chain. I also appreciated the updated bathroom. The bed was good - not amazing. The staff was friendly, and the the breakfast was pretty typical - including these egg-like things they call omelets. I opted to the do-it-yourself waffle maker instead. And oh, they do take the time to have a variety of decent coffees on hand. A vacation destination - NOPE. A clean, decent place to stay. Sure! I love this hotel!! It can be pricey, so my suggestion is book a room when the nightly rates are around 90.00 to 120.00 which comes around every now and then, check the website in advance or call like I did, to verify. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy with nice linens. My room had two beds, a medium-sized fridge, microwave, and an iron/ironing board. Nice setup. The staff are very friendly and professional and they have an okay, mediocre breakfast set out each morning till 10am I believe. There are plenty of good places to eat nearby, within quick walking distance (Italian, Mexican, Chinese food. and I'm not talking fastfood joints, but there are those too if you're craving that as well.) My brother and I really enjoyed our stay there, I'm sure you will too. read more

My hubby and I and a large (about 20) group of friends stay at this hotel every year during the Memorial Day weekend. We go to Rolling Thunder, which is a motorcycle event in DC. We love this hotel. The staff is wonderful and top notch! Since we've been staying there, every year they cater to us more and more, providing towels for us to wipe down our bikes and chairs for us to sit outside in the evening and socialize with our friends from all over. It's always a wonderful time and we so appreciate the Hampton Inn! We book our rooms for the next year before we leave! read more

I secured this hotel during a very busy time. We had to pay in advance due to hotel policy. Julio, the assistant manager, was very clear and even a provided helpful guide to DC . Due to two family emergencies, we were unable to make our paid reservation for a weekend. Julio stood by his policy and I admire that . However, we talked further about our situation and he was able to meet us halfway. Great stay at this Hampton Inn. Very clean and quite. The area is nice and quiet as well. This is a bit smaller than the usual Hampton Inns. The breakfast area is small but the staff is very attentive and responsive. The only think I have to say is we came back to the hotel at midnight and there was no one at the reception desk. Also the doors to the lobby stay unlocked and anyone could've just came in. My only suggestion is to lock the doors after a certain hour at night and require guest to use their keycard.
