It is very ran down. The rooms are ok, but the microwaves seem to have not been cleaned for a while; I got very sick after using it. The breakfast is nice, but it can be crowded depending on the day. The worst part is definitely when I was literally SHOCKED by the charging outlet. When I was trying to remove my phone charger before checking out, I did not see the broken wire (it was very dark, I had to turn my flashlight on to see clearly) next to it, and it zapped my finger! Could have been very dangerous. Overall, old place, not worth the cost. Go a bit more expensive for a nicer place, or go full budget and save a lot more on a motel. read more

I called this hotel because I was having issues with the Best Western app and it was not letting me complete my reservation. The employee on the phone put me on hold two separate times to help guests at the desk (totally understandable) but he was so dismissive and honestly rude that it really put me off. He spent several minutes looking up my account just to tell me he had to help another guest and didn't have time to make my reservation. I had explained to him SEVERAL times that I was having issues with the app and he still insisted that I make a reservation online because he was busy and didn't have time to help me. I was polite and patient, even telling him I didn't mind waiting if he needed to help other guests, and I don't think I deserved to be spoken to that way. read more

Many people use this hotel as a party place since there's no lobby to bring the case of beer through. Thats about the nicest thing I can say. They don't like cleaning even though we left tips. If a few short words; this is a motel. Pictures are deceiving and not even close to what you're receiving. The lobby looks nice then you seen the outdoor doors. "Private balcony" is a joke as its upper and lower walkway balconies for all. Heated fan in bathroom was surrounded by napkins for some odd reason. Once we got to the room and looked around and heard and saw lots of police activity we knew this wasn't a safe place for two woman. We ended up leaving and finding somewhere else. Booking.com gave us our money back with no hassle. With our quick exit I left a pair of name brand sunglasses and once I contacted them to retrieve them they claim to have never found them. I wish I could give zero stars. Apparently almost every staff member leaves before 5pm and if you need something or have an issue after that, you're out of luck. Our room was at least 80 degrees and when we went to speak to the front desk, Hamed was so disrespectful. He raised his voice at me, was incredibly rude to me, and blatantly said he will talk to my husband because he is a man but won't talk to "the woman." I also said I'll make a note of his name to make a complaint, so he shoved his drivers license in my face and refused to give me the managers contact information then went on to gaslight me about the reason we were there complaining in the first place, said he didn't understand why I was "shouty" and his suggestion was we can move rooms for the night and leave all our stuff in the old room??! And the hallways smelled like weed. We ended up cancelling the reservation and staying in the hotel across the street. read more

We stayed 2 days .Very outdated rooms .Not enough electrical outlets .having 3 people who use CPAP machines it was hard having the machines near the beds without proper outlets They used hanging extension cords. The bathroom had no vent. The towels provided for the pool were children's size. The workers were all very pleasant . we spent 4 nights here. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the room. The furniture looked new and the bed was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and orderly. The Hotel is layer out like the old style motels from the 70's but I liked that because I could drive my car right up to our door (literally 6 feet away). The air conditioner worked very good. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room and both were very clean. I can say that this hotel was well worth my money, it had everything we needed with a clean and quiet atmosphere. They also served a nice breakfast in the morning free of charge. The ice machine worked very good and had clean ice. We didn't use the pool but my wife said it looked nice and the children that were there were having fun. I considered this well worth my money and I will return. read more

We stayed at this Best Western for a NoVa wedding in September 2023. The property is dated, with old rooms, lumpy beds and musty smells. Our room never got cleaned and it took a while to even get toiletries replenished. Our room also had little to no hot water. Breakfast was respectable. read more

Best Western is a basic,budget chain and this location is no exception. Check in took a very long time even though I was next In line for at least 10 minutes. It was made even longer by the fact my room card didn't work so I had to go back to the front desk for a new card. The room was clean and comfortable. There's a pool but it was prior to Memorial Day and it wasn't open. Parking is free in the lot. Breakfast was meh- scrambled eggs,sausage,bacon,pastries,cereals,bagels,yogurt, juices, and of course, coffee. The room was spacious so it never felt crowded. There are several restaurants nearby and many can be walked to for dinner. I had no complaints during my visit and the rate was really good. I'll stay here again the next time I need a local hotel. read more

Stayed at this place just overnight, I was mostly satisfied with our room. Except, for the fact that there was a random dried up lime behind one of the night stands. It makes me feel like the room look neat and tidy, but certain areas that aren't seen aren't kept up to par. Our friends stayed at the room next to us and they mentioned the sheets being dirty in certain spots almost like someone had stepped on them. Beware of the charging practices of this hotel ... The room was fine, clean enough, etc. I booked this hotel for my son to stay one night. He checked out and the hotel charged us for an extra night, and at a higher rate. My son told me that he checked out a little late, but the front desk clerk told him it was ok. He returned both keycards. They didn't offer him a receipt. We noticed the extra charge a couple of days later. The hotel said that they would investigate and get back to us, which they never did. When I called again, they said that someone else stayed in the room and they would not refund the charge. Someone may have stayed in the room, but it certainly wasn't my son. When I called a third time telling them that I was going to have to dispute the charge, they took it as a threat and hung up on me. Never staying here again... read more

I needed a place to stay that was close to Route 66 and far enough outside Washington, DC that it wasn't crazy expensive. I'm so happy I found the Best Western in Fairfax, VA. Located close to the interstate, this hotel is tucked away in the woods, making it peaceful and quiet. While the building itself has a layout reminiscent of the 1970s, the check-in area and all the rooms appear to be newly refurnished. The room I stayed in was immaculately clean and homey. I felt immediately comfortable in it. The king size bed was so comfy and the pillows were the perfect consistency of firm and soft. One of the greatest assets of this Best Western is its free continental breakfast. I stay at probably 20+ hotels a year, and I will say that Best Western is at the top of the pack when it comes to the free breakfast that is served. Hot scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, all kind of muffins and bagels, biscuits and gravy, and, a first I've ever seen, corned beef hash. Make sure to check in on Yelp to received 500 bonus Best Western Rewards points. I forgot until after I had already checked in, but Renee at the front desk, while a bit snappy on a Sunday morning, helped me to get the extra points. I really enjoyed this Best Western location and would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who wants to be outside the city and save a little bit of money. I wish I could give zero stars! DO NOT STAY HERE! The worst customer service! 3 high school teams began staying here during my stay. Within 10 mins of arriving they began running across the floors outside until 2am. After asking the front desk to ask them to keep it down & one night with no sleep, the second night was even worse. The front desk said they would reach out to the coaches, but advised they could not say anything bc they're the same age as the high schoolers. After speaking with GM AJ, he advised he would have someone talk to the coaches, who are partying with the kids. MANAGEMENT IS AWFUL & does not help do anything after advising them of the noise on 7 different occasions within 2 days! WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! In response to the LIE that Best Western Fairfax is trying to portray for Google: You are a liar, you did not offer another room! I ASKED FOR A DIFFERENT ROOM, and your incompetent staff denied me saying that the entire hotel was booked full! You are a disgusting establishment to try to lie to cover up your incompetence and lack of customer service! We stayed here for 2 nights in April 2018. While we had a fine stay, I think the best way to describe this hotel is in a list of pros and cons. Pros: -Friendly staff! They let us check in 6 hours early for no additional charge and gave us recommendations of where to eat in the area. -Free breakfast buffet included. -TV and internet worked well. -Mini-fridge and microwave in the room. -Cheap price, good location. Cons: -Dated rooms with old furniture, dim lighting and chipped paint. -Very thin walls. We could hear all outside and upstairs noise, which was rough because they had a large group of high school students staying here. -Outdoor pool only, which is no fun in the winter. -Our bathtub was clogged up on and off, so sometimes when we went to take a shower it turned into a bath. Overall, I think this is a fine budget choice for the Fairfax area. The staff really were very kind, so I would stay here again- especially in the summer to try out the pool! read more

So came in after a long day of traveling, photos looked charming on Web site so gave it ah go. Upon arrival there three cars in the parking lot, that speaks volumes to someone like me. Climbed the stairs to my room, and to my dismay, was surprised by the amounT of debris or flotsam in the pool. Opened the door to my room and Was assaulted by odd smells and a ceiling that had lots off water damage. Towels looked like they came from a car wash, and really made Army life sound good. No soap for bathroom, outlets were overloaded and ready for a GD Fire. Bed was lumpy AF and I proudly checked out to never return. Go to the nearest Embassy Suites and enjoy happy hour! read more

For a Best Western, this place is 5 stars! The rooms are clean and spacious for a standard room. The parking is great because it is free, plenty of parking close to each room. The view of the courtyard is cool and I believe there are places to go off and have a smoke. My 5 stars really goes to the breakfast and the lady that keeps it up. I was told her name is Gloria, she was sweet and never took a rest. She showed people how to work the waffle machine. Gloria cleaned every little mess up and kept everything stocked. This is one of the more unpleasant "hotel" experiences I've had. Especially at this price. First of all, this is more of a motel than a hotel. I've spent a lot of time in Fairfax, but never actually went around the back side of the hotel to see all the doors up against the parking lot. The fact that all the doors lead outside might explain to the extremely unpleasant humidity in the room. The only way to make it bearable was to run the A/C full blast - but then the room gets down to 65 degrees, which isn't especially pleasant either. When the A/C is off, the humidity climbs right back up. Ick. I have felt damp since I got here, three days ago. Of course, I should have known immediately that this wasn't going to be a great experience, since when I checked in, they handed me a little piece of paper with instructions on how to use the shower: "To ensure proper flow of water from the shower, first pull up the shower lever, second turon on the water faucet." This is one of those old style showers where typically, you turn on the water from the faucet, then pull up the lever to send the water to the shower head. They're right - it doesn't work if you do it the traditional way. The lever doesn't stay up, of course, unless the water is running. So you have to hold it up, while trying to turn the hot and cold water to the right temperatures, all the while getting water everywhere, because you're adjusting it while it's spraying from the shower head. Of course, I was overly ambitious in my attempt to get the right temperature. It only seems to have one temperature, "really hot", despite the hot and cold water knobs. And then every thirty seconds, the water either gets cold for a few seconds, or scalding hot for a few seconds. Very unpleasant! The shower head itself looks like one of the fancier types that can be adjusted between four different types of spray. With those, you can usually fake a decent shower, even with relatively low water pressure. Not here. Maybe I'm not smart enough, but despite the label on the shower head, it would only produce one spray, more of a mist, because it was such a low-flow head. And while this is a feature that some people like, I personally can't stand having the sink and vanity in the bedroom, rather than in the bathroom with the toilet. Can you imagine how many people have touched the door knob after wiping their backside, BEFORE being able to wash their hands?? Yuck! And then there's the wake up call system. I woke up early this morning, and called the front desk to cancel my wake up call, and then proceeded to the bathroom. Then the phone rang. And rang and rang and rang and rang. It finally stopped. And then it rang and rang and rang again. And stopped. When I finally finished in the bathroom, I called down to the front desk and a different person told me "oh, since you're checking out today, the system won't let us cancel a wake up call". Are you kidding me? And then I had to sit there and wait for the next call, just to acknowledge it, so I could continue getting ready to go. On the bright side, the hotel is very clean and the staff is friendly. The internet seems to work pretty well, unlike at the otherwise much nicer Residence Inn, next door, where I stayed last time. The lobby is really pretty, and I wish I could have slept there instead of my room. The hotel is very conveniently located next to the interstate, but sadly, if you don't have a car, there's really nothing nearby. The 29 Diner USED to be good, but the new ownership has made it pretty generic and overpriced. And there's a Denny's across the street that is, well, Denny's. They've closed Fudrucker's, and moved Hooter's several miles down the road (widing the highway, apparently). So you have to have a car (or taxi) or be willing to wait for the world's worse public transit system to get anywhere. It's sad that downtown Fairfax doesn't have an upscale hotel, and that GMU closed down their hotel on campus after only being open a year. But this is more of a $70 a night motel, and if you're used to that sort of thing, and don't mind paying 30% more for your room than it's worth, go for it. But if you're used to a more comfortable experience, probably best to pass on this place. read more

Won't use this hotel in the future. My husband is traveling on military orders. He booked this hotel and within 2 minutes realized he accidentally hit the wrong city. Which the distance was outside of the amount of miles he's allowed to go so even if we wanted to go over an hour away to stay he isn't allowed to. He called asking for a refund exactly 2 minutes later and they refused. Accidents happen. Since we paid for 2 unoccupied rooms there that night(plus the one in the actual city we were in) that will be the last room we ever book there. read more

This Best Western location has poor customer service and does not care about customer safety. I needed an escort to my room, that is how unsafe it was. The employee who escorted me minimized my concerns and acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. The place was teeming with teenagers making noise and presenting a danger to guests, with some teens exhibiting dangerous behavior. They had one security officer sitting downstairs by the pool with his back turned oblivious to what was going on. We were met at the front desk by a very unpleasant and dismissive desk clerk. We were not give the room we reserved, and she argued with us that we were wrong. She then told us that our reservations did not provide a room choice, but that we were to be given "whatever is left." She then assigned us our room, but when we carried our bags to that room, we discovered it was already occupied. Imagine our surprise! We had to return back to the rude night clerk, and were given a room that we did not want in the first place. In all fairness, the asst. manager the next morning was very concerned about our experience. She expressed concern and indicated resolve to somehow rectify our bad experience. Awaiting that response. It's rainy this week and room smelled a bit musty when I walked in so I left door open a bit to air out. Staff efficient and friendly. The internet signal is weak. Don't plan on sending any emails or doing work online while in your room during your stay. The server continually times out and you will continually be infuriated. The motel seems to have been renovated. However, structurally, the walls remain paper thin. Full conversations are heard, babies crying, you can listen to the news in another room while sitting in yours. This could be strategically alleviated if they didn't book people in the same blocks and sections. Many rooms were unoccupied during our stay and they keep those areas empty on purpose. Makes sense logically on their hotel grid but having consideration for the guests would be a bonus knowing that the walls are so incredibly thin. They provide a state of the art gym from the 1980's. I imagine they bought the machines and treadmill from a garage sale and put them in a tiny room. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it for people who need to work in their rooms or are seeking quiet lodging. read more

If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would! After reserving several rooms at this hotel I called to ask if we could have a pizza celebration (for my daughters baptism) in the breakfast dining hall, which I was told we could. The night of the celebration we had several managers popping in and out giving us a hard time the entire night telling us not to use their napkins and to make sure we clean up after ourselves... which of course we said was no problem. They also threatened us that they were watching us on their cameras to make sure we don't use any napkins. At the end of the night someone named Sandra (wearing sweats with no indication she worked for the hotel) came in throwing a hissy fit complaining that she was "called out of bed to handle us". She said they charge for the use of this room (which we were originally told we could use the room for free) and was taking pictures of my family without our permission. She told us we had to leave, so we did. But Sandra was not wearing a badge and for the longest time refused to tell us her name as well as refused to delete the pictures she took of my family from her cell phone. The whole situation could have been handled in a much better/more professional manner. On top of this terrible management, all of our rooms were messed up because they over booked themselves. For example, they proudly told us we had a room upgraded from two doubles to a king suite. If I needed two beds how is one king an upgrade? Now I'm down a bed and someone has to sleep on a pull out couch? Are you serious?? By far the WORST hotel I have EVER been to and I do a lot of traveling. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Residence Inn or the Holiday Inn instead of this terrible hotel. read more

This is our second time at this hotel. We chose to stay here the first time based on location, ratings and price alone. The rooms were nice, clean and quiet. But, the true value of the stay was when we woke up in the morning and went to breakfast. This hotel serves one of the best breakfast buffets that I've ever seen!
