Friendly helpful staff in all departments, clean room, lots of restaurants and shops nearby, nice central location for travel in many directions.... has standard breakfast choices and they offer real half-n-half, not just the fake chemical creamer, which we all appreciate!! Cons: -heat/thermostat isn't consistent... it blows directly on the bed closest to the window so that part of the room gets super hot while the bathroom area is still cold. You have to turn it way up to get the room up to warm and then turn it down. -tv is limited as far as commercial-free channels and you cannot stream or mirror. -the black out curtains did not reach the windowsill so light crept in right at eye level in the morning. Also they did not overlap and we had to close them with a hair-clip. -No snack shop in the lobby- just vending machines that only take singles. The front desk kindly made change for us. -The saline pool smelled weird... -we booked another night and I called the front desk early in the morning to keep the same room, and they said it was ok, i checked-in online and all looked good, so we went back to sleep and then the front desk kept calling because it wasn't going through on her end and said i had to come down... so i did and then showed her that it worked on my app and she said oh, ok then. Hotel lobby was dirty, check in attendant was rude, elevators were filthy, shower door in our room didn't work, and worst of all the breakfast attendant coughed into her hands while she was handling food. One of the worst Hampton Inn hotels I have ever stayed at. I don't know how it gets four stars because this place is awful. read more

More like 3.5 stars. Like many hotels, the AC/heat blows directly on the bed. This isn't conducive to sleep. I cannot remember the last time I used a TV in a hotel, but there was a MLB baseball game on TBS that night so I turned it on. The picture quality was like an old analog TV. It was like looking through a lens covered with Vaseline. When I looked in the back of the set, the signal from DISH was coming in the antenna coax instead of HDMI, which explains the quality (see photo). The lights weren't bright enough to read in bed. Terrible experience. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service. I have been a Hilton diamond member for 10+ years....I am now Hilton Gold, have been a Hilton Honors member for 35+ years. I have a reservation booked for Thursday, August 6th at Hampton Inn Matamoras/Milford, checking out the 7th. Unfortunately, this reservation was booked under a non-refundable rate (yes, my mistake). Also unfortunate, I realized that I booked the wrong check in date....I meant to check in the 5th, check out the 6th (instead of 7/8). I called the hotel to explain my situation, asked them to extend a courtesy and change my date to check in the night before. I was not asking for a refund, etc.....I just wanted to check in the night before. The front desk lady would not budge...she said no, no, no, no (after me asking if there is anything they can do, etc). I was caught off guard by her stance on this......this hotel is in the middle of nowhere, there is definitely not an occupancy issue. Now, I wont stay there...I will lose the money, go to a Marriot, and they now get this wonderful review. What should have happened is the front desk lady go to the manager, explain the situation, and move my date to the night before. That didn't happen.............and for full transparency, after I was very dissapointed by the front desk ladys answer, and how she was standing firm on "no", she then offered to get her manager. Stayed here for 2 nights. Check in process was seamless at the front desk and got a room on the 4th floor. This complex has a Hampton Inn and a Best Western. I've stayed at both and they're both average. Cons: No daily housekeeping here during our stay. There was hair in the shower from a previous guest. Bedsheet has a stain (have a feeling they didn't change the bedsheets). The mini fridge has a freezer section and there was mold. The fridge also makes a loud noise so that was annoying at night. The remote/tv was glitchy and the channels wouldn't change with the remote. Coffee station in the lobby wasn't refilled. Pros: Plenty of parking. Breakfast had 2 waffle makers with 2 flavors. read more

I made a mistake on the date when making "nonrefundable" reservations at the above hotel. I called right away and explained my mistake, however their " system" was down and they were unable to help me. I was instructed to email the manager the next day. Long story short they were unwilling to change my reservation date, even though I clearly stated I didn't want a refund, just the reservations to be made to the correct date. ( which was a Friday night and would obviously be more money for the night.) Apparently, Non refundable also means Non-friendly, Unwilling, Unaccommodating. They refused to help and even changed their reason from " it's our policy" to that they had no availability. I checked the hotel for that night and there was plenty of rooms available. This was a heads up for me because apparently no one wants to stay there! On the website, the place looked dirty and I would venture that I would be concerned about bed bugs! Of note I am a Hilton honor member, which means nothing! I'll stick to the Marriott hotels. At least their hotels are worth the price. read more

We had a room block for a wedding and front desk staff was not accommodating there was never a manager to speak with We asked to have one room available at 1:00 check in so they can be on time for pictures and we were told they cannot guarantee that request Even when making the reservation a year in advance We had our room for 4 nights and had to ask to have our room be cleaned and our bed made and they only did it once because we requested the bed be done. We paid full price room rates and can't understand why we can't get a room with clean sheets and towels Coffee was empty and no cups in lobby at breakfast buffet. We had to ask at the front desk. Unfortunately in the area you are limited on hotels but for a Hampton Inn this one was the lowest level of service we have ever used. read more

HORRIFIC! I booked through Expedia who they use as a partner. I changed the dates of arrival in plenty of time it was accepted and I accepted an up charge. This hotel charged us on the original arrival date. We thought they just charged us early no they charged us for not being there. Expedia says all have been sent to them and the hotel is not being cooperative. We still wanted to come and were just confirming the change with horrible horrid customer service. Rude condescending woman on the phone: Every-time I asked to speak to a manager she forwards me over to a full voicemail. They are not working with Expedia or speaking to me on the phone. The women who keeps answering the phone is rude says she's busy and just literally hung up. Expedia has said the change was sent to them and the hotel keeps saying they will let them know tomorrow. It's been days and this is embarrassing! Get new front desk staff if she can't handle being in customer service. I have proof of all changes made where the hotel has accepted those changes. way to ruin a Christmas present! You have committed fraud and you are shady! they have responded to my Google review to call them and I did and the manager is never there and they say call back in an hour. I do an again not there. The staff are very friendly and personable. The hotel is very nice and modern. I know that due to covid the pool was closed. There is a staff member handing out coffee and breakfast options but due to being a diabetic with lots of food allergies there really wasn't anything I could eat and that's not their fault. However, the room was extremely dusty! I felt my sinuses close up the second we stepped inside. There are spider webs hanging from the ceiling in the bedroom. Please just put some attention into detail when the rooms are cleaned. read more

Stayed here three nights. On second night we arrived to find our room key did not work. Went to front desk. There was a sign saying they had to step away for a moment and would be right back. We waited 15 minutes. Called "0" on desk phone in lobby. No answer. Called " dispatch" which was listed on front desk area and got local police. Several people arrived after us wanting to check in. Finally a clerk came and said someone needed help in their room and she was the only one working. This is not only a serious security issue for that employee but was a major inconvenience for us and the other 4 people wanting to check in. Hampton inn should review their policy and procedures and never have a single employee working the desk especially at night on the weekend. Do not recommend this place. read more

I was really pleased with our stay at the Hampton Inn Matamoras over Christmas Eve this past year (2018). We arrived late, but were given a nice warm welcome by the front desk associate. Breakfast is included for everyone at is standard at Hampton Inn, so as a Hilton Gold member we were offered a selection of snacks as a welcome gift. The room we were in was nice and big, and the bathroom was great! It had plenty of counterspace and even had built in storage shelves in the wall. I also loved that there was a fridge and a microwave in the room. Breakfast on Christmas morning was good. I always like that the Hampton offers make-your-own Belgium waffles, and there was a variety of other food available. Plenty of seating in the breakfast area as well. Staff was friendly and on top of service, even though it was Christmas morning and I'm sure they may have preferred not to be working. They also had a nice fire going in the fireplace, that some families were taking pictures by. Pros * Big room * Spacious bathroom with extra storage * Breakfast included * Ample parking * Fridge and microwave in room * Friendly staff * Pool and fitness room onsite Cons * I didn't really have too many. The location is probably could be a little better, but for the price of the room I thought it was worth the tradeoff. I utilized the digital app to check in and was charged a $55 early check in fee yet Hampton/Hilton clearly states you can check in via the app and choose your room up to 24 hours prior to your stay. There is no fee to do that. However the manager (who sounded half asleep when she answered the phone begrudgingly) charges you a fee to use an app and then refuses to refund it when caught. Even the front desk girl said shed transfer me to the manager, but that she tells everyone no to a refund of this made up fee. Just so unprofessional. That its a new policy lol nowhere on their website or the app or my confirmation email is there any mention of being charged a $55 fee to check in on a FREE app. Why would anyone pay $55 to arrive at a hotel after local check in time. I assume shes somehow pocketing the money or benefiting in some way from it. Beware staying here. I had to escalate it to corporate to get a refund. Just shameful. I have stayed here many times as I have family in the area but will choose to utilize a small business hotel instead that doesnt engage in fraud. The hotel is dated as well for what they charge per night. Shower in bathroom didnt look like it was clean. Fridge really didnt cool much of anything in it. Broken vending machine. The snack machine barely had anything in it. They almost had a fire because of someone burning food in their room and then had to smell burnt food the entire first night cause of it. Very nice hotel chain and this particular hotel was very nice. We've stayed here twice now on our ventures between PA and New England. Both times we've encountered the same host to check us in -- Michelle. She is so sweet and accommodating. The lobby is inviting and so are the rooms. On this particular stay we had a King sized bed with a fridge in the room. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was roomy. I also grade on the quality of the showerhead and light in the bathroom -- both were great. Breakfast is complimentary and plenty with fruit, cereal (hot and cold), yogurt, hot selections such as eggs/bacon and the usual coffee/hot chocolate/tea, milk/juice. Our room was around 113.00 with a AAA discount. Fair enough for the quality plus being right off the highway when traveling. Note that there isn't a huge selection of restaurants but I do recommend Two Rivers Grille nearby. read more

This Hampton Inn is conveniently located. The app check-in, electronic key and check-out worked flawlessly. The elevators worked well. The breakfast was good. On arrival, we found our room was set to air conditioning and 68° with constant fan (it was in the 30s outside). The room was not particularly clean, the sheets left some doubt as to wash status, the refrigerator was noisy, and the TV screen glowed dimly until unplugged. The cheap in-room coffee maker produces poor coffee. The hhonors WiFi would not connect to our devices in our room at the end of the 4th floor hall (the clerk was unable to fix the problem). A night light in the bathroom would have been a nice touch. read more

The hotels check in is 4pm unlike many others that are 3pm - the place is empty - 3 cars in the parking lot - obviously not busy but the receptionist can't check us in 30mins early. I used to be a Diamond Hilton member (now just Gold), so I have stayed at dozens and dozens of Hampton Inns before... This one is clean, tidy, well lit, spotless. A great haven in the middle of the PA's Pike County. The gym was clean and well stocked (wipes, towels, headphones). The breakfast was good tasting and replenished often. Rooms can be a bit noisy (either hallway or next door rooms) but that depends on the people staying nearby. read more

I have to say, this was way nicer than I expected. I am a native of Port Jervis so the Matamoras area is old stomping ground. I brought my wife and kids in to meet family that they were long over due to meet. When we arrived I was greeted and had a pleasant conversation with girl that was working. She gave me a brief rundown and off to the room I went. The rooms were really nice. The beds were comfy. I was really happy. In the morning when we went down for breakfast, they had some scrambled eggs, some pre-made omelette's, a Belgium waffle maker some fresh fruit and the ordinary pastries and such that you would find on a continental breakfast. The kids were happy to see bacon and I was happy to see coffee and orange juice. My only real complaint about this place was the noise at night. My kids kegged out almost immediately as they had a long day and were very tired. My wife and I needed to relax a bit and oh my at the noise of the people on our floor. Until about 0530 in the morning we heard yelling and banging... doors slamming. It was the mating call of the drunk and stupid. read more

I have stayed here two years in a row to do a white water rafting trip and it is an excellent hotel. I ended up staying here because the Days Inn across from the hotel was always booked. The hotel rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are well stocked with items you may forget such as eye make up remover towelettes. They also have quirky little touches that make the room fun. Even the hotel keys are fun. They serve breakfast in the morning, but I have missed it each time. Also, there is a small indoor pool if you are up for a swim. It is a little pricey considering it isn't near any major cities, but it is a nice hotel with friendly employees. read more

I recently had the pleasure of a 3 night stay at this Hampton Inn. I've stayed at my share of Hamptons in the past, but this one is among the best. No, this is a not a 5 star hotel with swanky amenities, but let's face it: that's not what you're looking for if you booking a room at the Hampton. What this Hampton does offer is excellent quality and ample comforts, delivered by an incredibly friendly staff. This Hampton appeared to be very new (as of Jan 2010). Some of the locals in nearby Milford, PA confirmed it had been built within the past year. The lobby is adjoined to a wide open breakfast/lounge area, with a fireplace providing a semi-partition between the two. It has a "country" feel to it with quite a bit of stonework and rust/fall colors. The room was spacious and comfortable. I had a standard king room. Outstanding bed, as always (thanks Hampton). The room also featured a flat-panel LCD TV. I'd guess it was maybe a 30"? There was also a small desk with a chair. The bathroom was very spacious, featuring a well organized and well stocked wall/towel organizer, a shower with a sliding glass door (nice touch), and a nice marble sink area with plenty of lighting. I also appreciated the wide variety of provided toiletries: shampoo, soap, and conditioner (obviously), but there was also mouthwash and another bottle or two that I can't quite recall. There was also shoe mitt which was an added bonus and also a nice touch. Other great features: free internet, free breakfast with plenty of options, and thermostat controlled HVAC (no knobs on the window unit). The staff was incredibly friendly, even taking time to talk to me each morning when I came down for breakfast. Many thanks, Hampton staff! All in all, a great hotel option if you've ever in the area. At around $94/night (AAA), this is the best deal you'll find for the price. read more

We do a lot of traveling up and down the East coast and decent hotels along the highway can be tough to find. The good ones are too expensive (especially when you're only going to be there for 12 hours) and the cheap ones are gross. This Hampton Inn was beautiful and very reasonable (~$100). Clean, bright, friendly, etc. Breakfast was amazing! Fresh food, great variety all in a wonderful dining area/lounge. We'll definitely stop here again! read more

I'm going to stick with my 3 star, based primarily on the amount of noise in the rooms. For a 4 month old hotel (I guess, 5 months now), things just don't seem too well put together. The rooms leak noise, the mini-fridges already sound as though some of the compressors are going, and the HVAC units can be rattly and noisy. This might be just the defective ones in the batch purchased for this hotel, but if that's the case, I've been getting them a lot. I want to point out that the hotel staff are crazy nice. Granted, we're there a lot, but they know our names and where we're from. Everyone is very pleasant, which is just a nice touch. And, on the right nights, there are double chocolate cookies with marshmallows in them. I should mention that these are crazy good, and if they're out of a tube, I don't care, I just need to figure out where to buy that particular tube, so I can put on an extra layer of blubber for the encroaching Summer. read more

Driving on RTE 84 on our way to our vacation Memorial Day Weekend we decided to stop for the night just over the PA border. We had two choices were to stay in Matamoras and my wife picked the Hampton Inn. It turned out to be the best choice - the room was really nice, well thought out for travelers with electronic devices. We got a large room with two Queen beds, no problem at all over the holiday weekend (Thursday night) and were able to watch the third period of the hockey game because they had an extensive cable lineup. The furnishings in the room were beautiful and the bathroom was the best. In the morning we went down for breakfast and must say it was the best lay out in any hotel we've stayed in. My wife goes for the waffle maker while I tend to go for the hot items - for once the eggs were not dry, they were kept moist in a steamer. The sausage was also juicy and there were many selections to choose from - including a "bagel topper" egg omelet. No doubt should we start late on our yearly trip and need to stop The Hampton Inn is on the top of our list now. read more

Stayed at this location twice about 3 years apart. Travel all over the country and Hampton is always my first choice. Staff here is great, price is excellent, breakfast is also great. The rooms are very large and the view is fabulous. 100% clean! Hands down the best location I have ever stayed at! I wish all of them were as good as this one. I have stayed in 5 star resorts/hotels that don't even compare to this Hampton! If you are traveling anywhere around here this is the place to stay. read more
