Good clean, quiet, reasonable room only five minutes from the high point monument. Mike the manager is friendly and offered to take me to one of the local trailheads of the AT. The only downside is the limited areas to eat. There is a restaurant 2-3 miles down the road, but for a quick dinner, or a slice of pizza, you need to drive six miles south to the small town which the name escapes my memory. At the motel there is only a vending machine for beverages but the complementary morning coffee was the perfect wake-me-up!!!

I really wish they had an indoor pool - shame they never put one in or I would have given them 6 stars!

He apologized for my…read moreexperience and took the position that "unfortunately their Regular Security Guard had called out sick...and well some parties get out of hand...but we are top rated with Holiday Inn...Sorry no can't comp you a free night, besides we're fully booked". Way to drop the ball--i originally gave 2 stars for the Sales Manager who took ownership & immediately refunded my first two nights stay and delivered a hand written apology note. I'm currently staying at this Holiday Inn while my father is in hospice care, and although the property itself is new, clean, and nicely updated with decent amenities, my experience has been extremely disappointing. This hotel caters to large wedding parties, many of whom treat the building as a second party venue rather than a hotel. Despite being assigned to the "quiet floor" and being warned at check-in about potential noise, my first night included what felt like a full-blown frat party in the hallway. After a sleepless night, I suggested the hotel consider simple courtesy signage--similar to what some bars use--to remind guests to respect others as they return to their rooms. This is a reasonable, basic step, and it shouldn't fall on guests to propose it. An even more concerning issue was the front desk service. When I asked for matches to light a candle to say a prayer for my father, I fully expected a polite safety-related decline. Instead, the employee said, "100% no problem--promise you will burn this place to the ground." Whether meant as a joke or not, it was wildly inappropriate, unprofessional, and deeply unsettling given the circumstances. When I asked another staff member the following evening if I should expect another night like the first, the response was simply, "That's how people are these days." No reassurance, no ownership, and no sense of hospitality. Overall, the lack of guest control, poor handling of disruptive events, coupled with shockingly unprofessional staff interactions have made an already difficult time even harder. I hope management addresses these issues, because the property has potential--but right now, the guest experience falls far short of acceptable.

Cons: -heat/thermostat isn't consistent... it blows directly on the bed closest to the window so that part of the room gets super hot while the bathroom area is still cold. You have to turn it way up to get the room up to warm and then turn it down. -tv is limited as far as commercial-free channels and you cannot stream or mirror. -the black out curtains did not reach the windowsill so light crept in right at eye level in the morning. Also they did not overlap and we had to close them with a hair-clip. -No snack shop in the lobby- just vending machines that only take singles. The front desk kindly made change for us. -The saline pool smelled weird... -we booked another night and I called the front desk early in the morning to keep the same room, and they said it was ok, i checked-in online and all looked good, so we went back to sleep and then the front desk kept calling because it wasn't going through on her end and said i had to come down... so i did and then showed her that it worked on my app and she said oh, ok then. Aargh

I cannot remember the last time I used a TV in a hotel, but there was a MLB baseball game on TBS that night so I turned it on. The picture quality was like an old analog TV. It was like looking through a lens covered with Vaseline. When I looked in the back of the set, the signal from DISH was coming in the antenna coax instead of HDMI, which explains the quality (see photo). The lights weren't bright enough to read in bed. Does anyone who works for Hilton stay at these places?

Will say, looked a little shady when we first pulled up, but check in was nice and easy, room was immaculate when we got in. Very quiet area, right off the main road so easy on and off. Everything seemed to be completely re-done inside. Fridge/freezer/microwave, table with chairs gave that homely feel. Beds were comfortable, just very squeaky every time you moved around. The lady who helped us check in was super nice and very responsive with any questions. The bad Booked a room for 2 queen beds, these were 100% not queens. I know they were super busy and booked through with the Nationals in town, so i didnt make a fuss The room stunk like old cigarettes, even though no smoking in the rooms The tub had a massive bubble in it from the wrongly done bath fitter, and i was told about it prior and they have been so busy that they couldnt get anyone out yet to have it fixed. Overall, a solid 2 night stay. I would be back if in town again

DO NOT BOOK THIS MOTEL!!! When you google this motel it shows vacancy through third party booking…read moresuch as Expedia BUT NOWHERE DOES IT DISPLAY THAT THIS MOTEL IS NOT 24 HOURS. My house ran out of power and heat due to the BAD snowstorm and in the middle of the night I booked a room for 90$ with this motel, and they WEREN'T EVEN OPEN!!! My cellphone battery died and I was left stranded in the middle of a snowstorm AT 3AM!!!!!! Thankfully a stranger at a nearby gas station guided me towards a highway that would lead me to more hotels that were actually 24 hours. Later when Sussex Motel opened, I called and explained my situation to the representative. The woman I spoke to cancelled my reservation as we were on the phone and said I would get my refund within 10 business days. That was January 28th and it is now March 2nd. After 10 days I called for weeks, and they refused to answer the phone. When they finally answered I was told that I should have received it and that they will speak to their superior to see what happened. When I called again for an update, I was told that I would not be getting my money back and that there was some sort of mix up with my name which made absolutely no sense to me. I paid 90$ for a room I never even stayed in, for a motel that doesn't even stay open for 24hours. After telling me for more than a month I would get my refund they turned around and said that I wasn't and stole my money, claiming my refund went against cancellation policy. If that were true, then why was I told that I would be receiving a refund to begin with? DISGUSTING AND BEYOND UNPROFFESSIONAL. I reported this motel to the better business bureau, The Advertiser News North, and Sussex County Court for stealing my money and having misleading information online. My lawyer is reaching out to them as well and they aren't answering. I hope this review protects others from having a horrible experience with Sussex Motel.

Feelings worlds away from NYC, this retreat offers stunning gardens with breathtaking views, lavish yet elegant interiors, an award-winning spa, and exceptional sophisticated dining. I can't say enough about the Sunday brunch... definitely worth the splurge at $95pp which included 2 glasses of Prosecco. Everything including the service was top notch during our 3-course meal, starting with the amuse-bouche made of lemon whipped ricotta with pecans, cherries, and radish flower, as well as the basket containing an assortment of freshly baked pastries. The pecan crusted French toast and butter poached shrimp "Oscar" served over lump crab cake with Hollandaise sauce and asparagus were absolutely divine... and I don't even like poached eggs or rich sauces like that, yet I loved every bite! The lobster Benedict was out of this world, and the desserts - The Glenmere Coconut Cake and Mrs. Astor's ice cream Sunday - were the perfect ending to our meal. Followed by a brief stroll, the grounds are stunning and offer breathtaking views of rolling hills and Lake Glenmere. Their interior courtyard was beautiful and felt very Tuscan. I couldn't help but feel special during my visit, and can see how they hosted royalty, aristocracy, and top artists during its heyday!

From the second we arrived, the staff took care of us, guided us from place to place, and made the entire weekend feel effortless. The Rehearsal Dinner started with a cocktail hour on a terrace overlooking the countryside, and honestly, it felt like we had been transported to Italy. The views, the manicured grounds, the rolling lawns, the formal gardens, the lake... all of it created this stunning European villa vibe. The Tuscan-style architecture just added to that charm. On the Wedding Day, the ceremony was held outside on a tiered courtyard that managed to feel both grand and intimate. After that, we moved to another outdoor terrace for cocktail hour, and the change of scenery made the whole experience feel fresh and magical. Then we were guided under a covered walkway over to "The Barn in the Meadow" for the reception. It is a gorgeous space, with vaulted ceilings, whitewashed interiors, Italian-style chandeliers, and a covered patio looking out toward the hills and the lake. It felt elegant, spacious, and perfect for a large celebration. The Reception itself was unforgettable. The food and drinks were phenomenal and there was nothing anyone could want. The couple was glowing, the setting felt dreamlike, and the fireworks at the end of the night were the perfect touch. All in all, Glenmere Mansion is not just a venue. It is a full experience. Between the mansion, the gardens, the views, the beautifully designed event spaces, and the top-notch staff, it truly transforms a wedding into a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a luxury wedding or special event location.
