Decent hotel for quick lodging and utilizing points. Decent breakfast nothing really stood out, I would not stay again.

Our room was clean and we had a cot as previously requested in our on line reservation. We did not have any extra pillows for our cot or the pull out bed. We had to use our own plus our our blankets. The breakfast was good with fresh pressed juice and blueberry waffles (you make), eggs, sausage and potatoes. Also two choices of smoothies in compostable plastic cups. There is an indoor pool open 9am-10 pm which looked clean we did not get the chance to use it. They have a small bar on site looked nice. read more

I called around to several hotels inquiring about their free continental breakfast. Most had still stopped due to COVID, and the ones that resumed were serving these makeshift egg sandwiches heated in the microwave in a plastic wrapper or only giving a plastic wrapped muffin. That was until we traveled to Sounth Carolina and this Hampton Inn...they just started with their hot buffet breakfast this week! Just in time. I'll tell you, totally worth it in my book. When all hotels can offer a good night's sleep for the same price- a good breakfast in the morning that you don't need to make another stop in the car, makes this one the winner! This hotel is average--there's nothing special about it. I was in town for work, and this hotel was pretty close to where I needed to be. The location is good--it's close to Cherry Grove. The lobby and hallways have a nautical theme. There are Fall decorations in the lobby. There's a small bar across from the front desk that closes at 10 or 11. The customer service is lacking--the front desk associates weren't very friendly or welcoming. My room had a funny odor--like wet dog. It wasn't strong but it was definitely there. We were very displeased with this hotel and ended up checking our early. At arrival for check in, there was a sign that said the water would be shut off the following day from 10am-3pm, ok not terrible because at least it was for a short period of time. I wasn't happy seeing this, but emergencies happen, and I was willing to look past this. Then we noticed that the ice machines on every floor were broken. The rooms were very small. There was barely a walk way in the room. The beds had a night stand worth of space in between. We also booked this hotel because it had an indoor pool for the kids to use, another thing broken! The final factor here and the reason we had to leave was because in the middle of the night there was a cockroach in the bathroom!! My one positive thing I can say was the front desk people were nice. I wouldn't ever come back though. read more

Originally booked this room for a concert that was happening in town. At arrival we learned that the event was cancelled and would not be rescheduled. The staff working the desk were absolutely wonderful and attempted to get me a refund for my room, but the manager swore against it. She was extremely rude and wouldn't even speak to me. Don't stay here unless you want to lose your money. Sorry for the staff that has to work under such a monster. read more

Staff is incredible. Donna and Neil at the front desk are super hard workers that helped me and my sister so much. After an Air b and b fiasco on the beach we were so well taken care of at this hotel. It's worth paying a few bucks to park at the beach to have a clean comfortable room and staff that genuinely cares. read more

Super clean and enjoyed the modern sleek feel of the hotel. Great bathroom space. The staff (shoutout to Ella) was super friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. They also have a really nice breakfast buffet. Pool was also warm which was nice! Definitely surpassed my needs for my one night stay. read more

This is the most egregious example of a company or business owner manipulating photos to make a 1979 era hotel look modern. I will attach the real pictures just took a week ago 4-1-22 that's no April fool's joke either. The staff was great let's start there. Not a problem, the rooms.... pathetic, old popcorn ceilings, old plumbing fixtures. I was told the hotel was renovated in 2012??? The only other explanation is the owner has very poor taste in hotel decor. What a mess!! The food Mheeh! Just same old Hampton inn food. Snack bar is probably the best I have ever seen on any Hampton property. Pool, ok I guess. Very tiny TV in the king room and so far away I needed my glasses to see it. That's just being cheap to purchase larger TV'S for the larger rooms. I guess the room was clean enough. But old worn outdated decor Looked like a nursing home for blind people. Night staff behaves as though you're an inconvenience, with the exception of the young lady who was working the front desk at 9:30 pm last evening (which is why the 2 stars were earned ). Hotel is in need of an update. No fans in bathrooms resulting in cracked ceiling paint. Furthermore, the furniture was old and scuffed. Additionally, the AC in the hallways was not functioning making it sweltering hot and resulting in condensation on walls and doors. Thankfully , AC in room was functioning. Disappointed as we like Hampton Inns and this one is, simply, not up to par with the others we've visited. Choose another hotel. read more

We only checked in at like 7 something pm Friday night and the receptionist dude was pretty blah. Not looking for a parade or anything when I check in but he didn't look like he wanted to be there. His voice was blah, his whole demeanor was blah. He didn't offer us any cookies sitting in the basket joint right in front of him. Typically as an Honors member, front desk staff are a little more... accommodating? Again, not trying to act like I'm the queen of England or something but just used to better customer service from Hilton hotels. The room was pretty nice. We had a king suite. It was pretty huge. Huge shower separate from the toilet and tub. Pull out couch. An area with a fridge, sink, and microwave, which is useful with a baby and young child. Every sink and tub in our room was stopped up. We had a huge shower where a good 10 people could fit and that was stopping up after a couple of minutes of running the water. The sink by the microwave was stopping up. The tub in the separate toilet area was stopping up when I was running water for a few minutes to wash my daughter. The room was fine tho. Breakfast was meh. I wish they had some bacon. I typically get bacon and waffles. I would stay again if I only need a place to crash for a couple of days. read more

This is a fine Hampton Inn. Hampton's are consistently good. Nothing fancy, but clean with reasonable rates. The location is good to get to the beach, restaurants, or Myrtle Beach. Breakfast buffet is included. read more

First off it is a Hampton, albeit, an older one but it appears to be freshned up. I came for bike week, so I knew what to expect. The rooms were clean and cold, I had no problem with the ac. The hotel is located on the way to a popular bike / beach bar so you do get the over revving bikes going by. But if you want to be near the bar, it is a great choice. There are also a couple of good restaurants within walking distance which is nice, Captain Bills Island Time, but that is another review. The rooms were fine, again, a little older, but clean and updated. The water pressure in the shower was barely acceptable, but it worked. The breakfast was the normal hampton fare. I typically only eat the fruit and oatmeal, so how can I go wrong? And the coffee is free and better than most drip stops... read more

I had planned to write a good review. We stayed Thursday-Monday and the hotel has a great lobby/coffee/snack area. The daily hot breakfast is also a hit. The pool is a bit smaller but there never seemed to be too many people. Maid came in even though the do not disturb was on. We came back to the beds made. 11pm Sunday night (checking out Monday am), found a cockroach roaming by the fridge/microwave stand. Killed it. Husband went to use the microwave and found a baby. Front desk didnt seemed to concerned and only said sorry at the end of the call. There would be no one around until morning was the response I got. They left my family and I room-less. I booked my room through Booking.com when I made the reservation Booking gave me the option to pay now or when I checked in, I opted to pay when I checked in. Check in was at 4pm when my family and I arrived at 4:30ish we were told our reservation was canceled because my card was declined. I questioned why I was being charged before check in they front desk person Heather said that even thought Booking says not till check in the hotel charges before hand. They tried to charge my card in the morning and canceled my reservation 1 hour before check in, on top of that they rented my room out leaving my family without a room!! If their policy is to charge before check in they should have Booking make that clear. This is not how to properly run a business. The Hampton Inn Harbourgate didn't have microwave or fridge in the room I booked, and was 20 minutes away from most everything. However, Country Inn and Suites saved the day with a last minute room at the same price, with more amenities and only 3 minutes away from everything including the beach and Broadway at the Beach. Typical, dependable Hampton by Hilton experience, complete with warm welcome cookies and water. Obviously improved since past reviews. Loved the e-check-in option. We had a nice 2nite stay in a suite. Separated bedroom (by doors) a huge plus. Comfortable, moderately furnished sitting area. Microwave and mini fridge. Very efficient and friendly owners and desk staff. Great service by 'breakfast ladies'. Back patio a nice relaxation or gathering spot. Didn't use pool, but looked in prompted by previous comments. Saw no stains, including ceiling tiles. Water did not appear as clear as one would like. Location across from 2 marinas which provided lots of on the water options (rentals, fishing excursions, dolphin cruises). Also a decent bar/restaurant 0.2 miles. read more

This place is a dump, DO NOT stay here. After my last stay the manager responded to my Yelp post and stated that they would check into the issues that I experinced on my llast stay, well their standards here are no where near my standards. This stay I got room 307, it was a dump, the room stank, my socks are black from the carpet, there was a coffee stain in the sink when I checked in THAT NEVER GOT CLEANED!!! There are 2 microwaves in this room, neither one works. The sheets are very old and I just pray to God that they got changed between customers because this place has terrible cleanliness standards. The "Business Center" is a computer that barely works in the middle of the breakfast area with NO PRINTER!!!! AND they charged a premium rate for this dump. This hotel definitely needs work. I'm usually very lax with hotel needs; If it's clean and has a nice bed to sleep in then I'm usually good. They have a variety of problems at this hotel. - Room keys will randomly turn off and you can't get into your room - Rooms don't get turned over at a certain time so you can never tell when they will be here to do it. When they did they did a poor job. - Renovations are ongoing - a guy on a bucket truck was in my window as I was getting dressed to go out - Lots of ghetto clients - enough for it to be noticeable. - Hotel is located next to a drawbridge that is closed all the time so it's difficult to get to and from if you're using the highway. They do recognize that they have issues and they are actively working on fixing it but they are a long way from that. I would wait until next year if you plan on staying here. read more

For one night stay it's perfect. I couldn't really access anything else. The morning breakfast was a random mix of food and the fabulous open ( messy) pantry that the staffer kept going in and out all while playing loud music! Ugh can I have my Coffee first! The hotel was a typical Hampton. I like Hamptons. Mostly it was fine. Front desk staff was very nice. Pool was awful! I mean gross, brown stains all over the pool. No light at night for swimming. It's dark in there and I think that's better because it's gross. Stains all over the ceiling in the pool room. Just not inviting. We did not use the pool. I didn't even smell chlorine so was afraid of catching something. Breakfast - same exact hot choices EVERY day. This has never happened before. Typically, there is something different to chose from every day. That could have been better. read more

The bathroom in the lobby is absolutely disgusting, the free breakfast was horrible and cold. The cook / food preparer wasn't refilling food or keeping it clean. The maids walk around unprofessional attitudes and dress attires. The maids were walking through the lobby with their bellies hanging out. I was waiting for 15 minutes to get syrup for my waffles. My parents laid down in their bed to find crumbs under the sheets. The only thing I did like was the gym - at least they had free weights. Other than that completely disgusted and disappointed with my stay. read more

Have stayed here multiple times over the last 10 months. the first time they had a power blackout for over 3 hrs. They do not have a business center. The printer has not worked since last June. The reservations are always missing because 'the fax is not working'. This time I had room 320. There are stains in the back of the toilet. This is the last time I stay here. read more

Pool heater was broken and it was freezing. That's not the worst of it. I was charged twice for the stay and I've been trying to get it corrected for over a month now. Hilton keeps saying that they credited my account, but it's been 9 days since I've spoken to the last person and no one believes me that I did not receive the credit. This was their fault in the first place and Hilton treats you like a criminal, like you are trying to scam them. I was a Diamond member, but now I will never step foot in another Hilton property. 100% satisfaction guarantee....try 0%. This was one of three Hampton Inns we stayed at this week, as they are a dependable choice. This was an older hotel, and service was spotty. Our room didn't have a refrigerator as we had been promised while booking, and the staff didn't seem interested in remedying it (no apology or follow-up). Came from Virginia Beach for a birthday getaway. Checking in was great, Jasmine was very accommodating and gave me waters checking in. The room was great except for the fact that there was blonde hair EVERYWHERE. very disgusting like they did not vacuum, even in the bathroom so I had asked Neil to have them clean. He was also very helpful & nice by the way. Asked us how our stay was and made sure we were ok. The room clean was great but we asked for more water from a short black bald guy who refused giving me some due to receiving some at check in which I thought was surprising because I never got push back at any other location before. Everyone else was very helpful even the blonde haired lady who gave us a coupon for filets -amazing place!- very satisfied with the room location and the peace. Wasn't loud slamming doors or loud people which was very relaxing for a vacation. Good location as well not far at all from the beach and restaurants. Unfortunately the pool was very dirty showing green algae and they even let people swim in it still. That was a big throw off. Other than that we very much enjoyed our stay here. read more

Wow, first one to review, huh? I hate to leave negative reviews, but this one must be heard! I'm a Hilton Honors member, so Hampton Inns have always been my go-to hotels, what with the free breakfast and all. But, this one...ugh. I was in MB for business, so I didn't really care too much about actual location, I already knew traffic was going to be horrendous due to bike week/memorial day weekend. I stayed in the room right above the lobby and in the front of the building where everyone parks, so it was extra noisy. First of all, I asked the clerk for a room away from it all, so that was disappointing. Secondly, the room was full of humidity which could not be aleviated at all from the a/c unit in the room. The window was not sealed, it was very old and raggedy. The humidity problem could have been eliminated were it not for the old window problem. This is what made my stay in that room terrible. I was there for only 2 nights for work so I grinned and bared it. Never mind the fact that they did not mention that it was bike week, I already knew that, but they still didn't mention it, big no-no in my book. Also, there was a fly (not household) in the bathroom. Why are there any bugs in the room at all? I must say, however, that the staff was very friendly. Personally, they could have looked more presentable, but their friendliness made up for that just a little. I won't ever stay here again. Perhaps a remodel will do them good. read more

We had a reservation for July 6th-10th Our Check in time was 4:00 on the 6th. My wife reserved and had confirmation. She made sure that there was no charge until we arrived because she explained we would be using 2 separate accounts to pay for our stay. Well The Morning of the 6th they tried to charge the whole amount of over 900.00 to the one account and the card was denied. No surprise as we explained we would be using 2 Accounts. They said they called but had the wrong phone number so they gave our reservation to someone else. Without a call or email to us they gave it away. We had arrived in NMB at 4:15 July 6th and had no where to stay. This was only the beginning of the nightmare. My wife called customer service and they told us there was nothing they could do. So much for being a Hilton honors member. We stayed in a roach infested motel for one night. We where so dejected we cut our vacation short. Worst vacation ever. Not thanks Hamton Inn. I had the unfortunate pleasure to stay at this hotel 7/29 and 7/30/15. Where to begin....my room was missing the couch and coffee table yes, missing. The hotel was filthy and the elevators were gross. The air conditioning in the common areas (other than lobby) was not working and boy was it hot!!!! As a Diamond member, this was without a doubt, the worst Hampton property I ever stayed at. I'll be contacting the Hilton brand to register a formal complaint. read more

As a Hilton HHonors Silver member whose favorite hotel in the chain is Hampton Inn, I've stayed at a lot of Hamptons. And generally speaking, this one seemed about average. But, that said, next time I'm in the area, I'll look for another place to stay, because I have no faith in their housekeeping department. First, the good. Kudos to the overnight front desk clerk, who was super helpful and friendly when we rolled in to check in at 4:00 in the morning. We had Groupons, and he knew exactly how to handle them and check in took just a couple of minutes. As I noted we were probably going to be skipping the famous Hampton waffles in the morning in favor of sleeping in, he kindly offered, without prompting, a late check out. Since there were 7 of us, we had two rooms--one with two queens, one with a king and sleeper sofa. They had, without prompting, put the two rooms almost right next to each other and the rooms were at a comfortable temperature and clean. We were worried that housekeeeping was going to be knocking on the doors in the morning, because there were no "do not disturb" signs for us to put on the door (housekeeping oversight??). But (and I don't know how busy they were that night), the hotel was very quiet (even though our room was pretty close to a busy highway) and no one--loud guest or otherwise--woke us up early. When we checked in, we did notice that one of the rooms had no towels. We had three washcloths and a bath mat, and that was it. Since we just wanted to go to bed, we decided to deal with that issue in the morning. And there began my adventure with housekeeping.... So if you just want to be done with this review, I'll just say that if the problem with the towels had been handled appropriately, I would have been perfectly happy-- just a fluke that could have been easily fixed. But it was completely botched, so if you want to hear that story and be entertained, keep reading. So around 10:30am, we place a call to the front desk to get towels. The front desk said they would send someone up with towels. Fifteen minutes later and with still no towels, I got in the shower and told one of my daughters to just bring them in to the bathroom when they came. So I'm stretching out my shower, waiting for the towels to arrive (no water pressure problems, BTW), and finally yell for her to call the front desk because I'm turning into a prune and still no towels. So she calls, and the front desk tells her they should have been to the room by now (thank you Captain Obvious), so she should go out to the hallway and find someone. So, out to the hallway in her pajamas she goes. She tracks down the housekeeper, and the conversation goes like this: DD: Hi, We're in room xxx and we need some towels for the shower. Could I please have three? HK: We have your room marked for checkout today. DD: Yes, but we didn't get any towels in our room. HK: You're supposed to check out today, so I can't give you more towels. DD: DD: We're going to leave. But we need to take showers. We need towels. We did not get any last night. The front desk told me to find you. HK: I don't have any clean towels. I have to go find some. While this is going on, I've finally given up and have chosen to dry myself with the single clean washcloth we have available. So I emerge from the bathroom in my now slightly damp clothes and dripping wet hair, hear the story from my daughter, and decide to go out and find more towels myself. First, I retrieve a clean hand towel from the other room we had (they had used all their bath towels already), sent the daughter to the shower, and set out to find the housekeeper she talked to. I find the housekeeper's stuff, but she is nowhere in sight--guess she is still trying to find towels. So I went to the lobby, and asked to speak to the manager or the housekeeping manager. It's now about 45 minutes since the first phone call was placed. The front desk clerk astutely asks if I'm the person looking for towels--not sure if it was the glare or my still wet appearance that gave it away. So she calls the housekeeping manager over and says "this is the lady looking for towels." And the housekeeping manager tells me: "all the towels are being dried right now. We don't have any clean towels." Are. You. Kidding. Me. This was finally resolved after a bit of back and forth by them giving me a few flimsy pool towels. While that was going on, the housekeeper was giving my husband a hard time for not being out of the other room we had yet; she didn't seem to understand the concept of late checkout. So, not sure if the problem is that the hotel is truly short on basic supplies, or if they just have an unpleasant and/or incompetent housekeeping staff that can't solve problems, but either one is a red flag to me. There are enough other hotels around that I don't need to try them out again and find out. read more
