We had a wonderful stay at the Hampton inn Oneonta. We were in town for the Cooperstown Allstar Village tournament which was just about a 5 minute drive from here. Very conveniently located. Breakfast every morning helped cut down expenses for at least one meal a day for our family. The kids loved the waffle bar, and my middle guy became quite the barista this trip. He loved running down and making my coffee every day! During our week stay they also made popcorn one of the days, shared pizza and had snacks available for us because I was a member. My kids enjoyed the pool and small arcade. They also had a small laundry room which was so helpful. Staff were so kind and accommodating. We loved our stay and cannot wait to visit again someday! read more

I think this is the only hotel in the Oneonta area that actually has a heated pool, so that right there is a big win because New York winters are cold. The staff is nice, the location is pretty accessible (it's just down the road from the Walmart), and it's pretty easy to get on to 88. One time I was here, I swear the heat was turned off in the lobby. It felt like it was literally 12 degrees. Not sure what happened that day. Anyway, they have breakfast service which is always really well maintained. The prices can really fluctuate depending on whether or not the Cooperstown Hall of Fame games are going on or if it's Parents' Week for the SUNY colleges. Pretty typical Hampton Inn experience as of the last three years. When we arrived, the woman at the front desk was busy and called a male employee to assist us. He was friendly and promptly checked us in. However, we did have to ask for our gold reward, water & and snack, but it was presented promptly. After arriving in our room, we wanted to unwind, so we sat on the sofa. Unfortunately, the cold air was blowing so forcefully out of the PTAC that it was uncomfortable. I looked around for the wall control to change the setting and couldn't find it. We tried to control the unit from the front panel, but that didn't have any effect over the unit. We couldn't even turn it off. Next, we tried to place a towel over the vent so it wouldn't blow directly on us; however, the air was blowing so forcefully that the idea was a bust. With all of our resources exhausted, we called the front desk to ask how to turn off the unit. The woman answering said she had no idea and handed the phone over to the man who checked us in. He indicated that the units are controlled by a wall control. Since we couldn't find the wall control, he offered to come up to assist. Upon his arrival, he confirmed that the wall control had been removed. He, too, attempted to shut off the PTAC unit to no avail. As a last resort, he removed the front cover, went underneath it, and loosened the plug until it shut off. He apologized profusely and said they would have moved us, but they were fully booked. He offered to come back to plug it back in before we went to bed, but we opted for the instructions. This man (I wish I had his name) was extremely helpful and very friendly. Sitting on the sofa presented another issue. The lighting above the sofa from the floor lamp was not conducive to holding a conversation. It was blinding. The lighting in these rooms could certainly be more thoughtful/purposeful. Lastly, the breakfast buffet. It was representative of how the buffets have become, nutritionally lacking. The hot offerings were 1) oatmeal, 2) "western omelet," and 3) French toast sticks (these were actually cold). There weren't any meat options, but there were plenty of other sugary or carby options, including toast or bagels (sorry, no utensils were available to actually take one) and cereal. The ENTIRE TIME we were getting our food and eating we were listening to a woman complaining to another staff member that someone had called out. They were standing just inside the door behind the food station. (She was loud, angry, and frustrated) Unfortunately, this is what our typical Hilton hotel experience has been like as we attempt to spend down over 1 million Hilton points acquired by years of loyalty to this brand. In our eyes, "Hilton Hotels" is no longer synonymous with "excellent service." read more

This hotel is a 1/5. Our first room had stains on the bed sheets and when we pulled back the covers had one big black ant crawling on it. We got moved to another room and we didn't even walk in the room, it smelled like someone just smoked in there, the fresh cigarette smell. We got moved to the next room which was doable but not great. It was better then the last 2 rooms but one of the rooms had no working lights other then the natural light coming from the window. The breakfast included in our stay was the best part of our experience. The breakfast was just okay but compared to the rest of our visit was the best part. Overall the vibe of the hotel was depressing in our experience, there is no color and looks like it's hasn't been updated in 20 years. Overall would not recommend staying here. read more

I've stayed at this hotel countless times while driving back and forth to visit elderly parents. It's comfortable and clean. The hotel is situated a bit away from the main part of the city, but if you hop on the Interstate, you can get to the shops and restaurants quickly. The staff here is incredible; Jodi, Kerry, Mary, and Paige are genuinely nice and want to make your stay amazing. When I come, there is always some kind of treat, like popcorn or fresh-baked cookies, at the front desk. The breakfast is the typical Hampton Inn breakfast with many carbs and little variety in the hot entree, but I always found something to eat. Dogs are welcome. Oneonta is a dog-friendly city, so it's a great place to visit if you have a pet. You can even bring your dog into the mall. read more

The staff were all amazing, especially this woman Mary who checked us in. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, even on recommending wonderful restaurants nearby. The room seemed clean and well cared for, except that it had a 12"x18" stain on the ceiling in one spot sortof above the bed. The pull-out couch was terribly uncomfortable to sit on, but otherwise everything was great. The room had a refrigerator and microwave, which were a huge plus. The pool and hot tub were nice and there was also a fitness area and a business center (neither of which I actually used, but it was good to know they're there). I witnessed them cleaning various different areas numerous times during my stay, which made me feel good about staying here. I also rather enjoyed the included breakfast, which had Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, plus cereals, juices and coffee. While not as good as a restaurant breakfast - not having to leave to get a fresh cup of coffee or eat breakfast was a plus. Also the big fresh chocolate chip cookies on check in were a terrific welcome!! Even the housekeepers were friendly and accommodating when I asked for a few extra towels. We initially had a good experience, but had an issue with the hot tub. We used the hot tub and pool on the first day. It was a little dirty but acceptable. The third day, we used the hot tub again and when we turned it on my daughter and father in law were overwhelmed with the chemicals and start coughing and their eyes started burning. They got out quickly, used the pool shower to try to wash out the chemicals. Their coughing stopped after 20 minutes or so. We brought attention to the front desk so they could take care of it, we didn't want anyone else to get exposed to the high level of chemicals. Well two weeks later we had another baseball tournament and booked a room again via the Hilton app. The hotel cane felled the reservation the night before without an explanation. We called Hilton honors and got it rebooked. They proceeded to cancel it again the day of the reservation. I called the front desk to find out what was going on and they proceeded to accuse us of fraud and mentioned the compliant and the fact that we cancelled a reservation (and rebooked). They then proceeded to tell me we were banned from staying at the Hilton oneato my hotel. Btw, we did that because a close friend died this week and I had to adjust to Goto a funeral and shorted my stay. My wife is a Hilton diamond member and I am a Hilton gold member, we don't expect to be treated this way by a Hilton property. We now had to find a different hotel last minute. I am very disappointed in the hotel and I hope Hilton works to retrain hotel management to not retaliate based on a compliant read more

We enjoyed our stay here for the most part. The room was spacious and clean. You do have to ask for your room to be made up during your stay. I was not convinced that the pool was clean enough to go in and it seemed quite cool to the touch. The breakfast was descent but the woman who was in charge of the area this weekend was lazy and not very helpful when the food began to run low despite it being between the hours that they serve breakfast. Her response was that we should have come down earlier to breakfast. We weren't ready earlier. Have to say that Kerry at the front desk in the evening's went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. read more

What a nice little hotel hidden away! This place has a lot of perks. There's a pool, complimentary breakfast, super close parking. It's tucked away from the craziness of main street. The wifi is locked but can be accessed if you type your last name and room number. There are ice machines, vending machines, and laundry. The breakfast is good and there are plenty of seats, coffee with to go cups, many different flavors of creamers, and plenty of food choices. Definitely my go to hotel for move in and move out days for college! read more

Really bad experience. I'm a local currently without power/heat/water for going on five days due to a storm. Not only did the hotel jack the prices up for those going through a hard time right now, they wouldn't allow check in until after 3pm, wouldn't allow me to extend my stay because they have "two sports teams coming in" and were extremely rude and unhelpful throughout my stay. Meanwhile rooms ARE available on Expedia but they said the hotel is fully booked Not to mention I barely slept the last two nights because of people yelling in the hallways and partying/slamming doors on weeknights at 2 am. Well I got a bunch of bites and even found a bug that I brought down to the front desk which the girl agreed was a bed bug. Check in was very pleasant my fiancé loved kerry The front counter she was very pleasant and helpful even providing us with a take-out menu and the local liquor store to get a bottle of wine. Room is large has a nice couch everything you would need from coffee pot to microwave and refrigerator. Bathroom is nice and large and clean and newly remodeled. Just a short distance from town less than a mile where all the action and restaurants. plenty of free parking. They have a free breakfast it's a buffet with plenty to eat and they always have very large pots of coffee and a whole different kinds and hot water in the lobby. First thing in the morning when I walked out of the room all of the cleaning ladies greet you very pleasantly saying good morning. That is a very nice touch. read more

We stayed here 10/10/21. What a fabulous hotel. First of all it is super clean and welcoming. Mary check us in and was so kind and happy welcoming us. She also signed me up for rewards, what a great employee Emily the hotel manager was also super, she went out of her way to make sure we knew all about everything the hotel offered and about booking directly with them. She gave us her e mail and told us anything we need to just e mail her. She was friendly and welcoming too , Our room was ready a little early. It was clean , smelled good. Bathroom was so clean and plenty of towels, soap and shampoo . Beds comfortable, pillows too. The hotel is on main highway but we never heard anything at night. Breakfast is included and was better than most. By 6am it was hot and ready. Today was egg tops that were like eggs and bacon and cheese asked on to a 1/2 bagel. Really good , potatoes not so much , waffles you could make with lots of toppings, cereal station , hot oatmeal with different toppings , juices , coffee , toast station , lots of drinks. Just great. Again breakfast area spotless and lots of happy friendly guests and staff. At night big cookies in a basket. Happy bags at breakfast with a snack. Just super sweet touches. My wife and I love staying at Hampton Inns whenever we travel. And everything everyone's said about this location in Oneonta is pretty spot-on. We just happened to have a sub-par stay this time around, though the accommodations were standard. We checked in late (at 3:30 a.m.) and asked for a late check-out, which the staff was happy to give us. However, the room we were given was at the end of a hallway... Which meant we were woken up after only a few hours' sleep by people coming and going at 8 a.m. In retrospect, we should've asked for a different room after we realized were were next to an exit. So we're just chalking up this stay as a learning lesson for the next time we're checking-in late somewhere, so we don't have to hear businessmen on their phone in the hallway at 8 a.m. Everything else though was alright, even with the construction going on in the lobby. The staff was great to us. We still checked out late and although we missed breakfast, we got a couple of "Snack Packs" in to go bags... With bottled water, breakfast bars and fresh fruit, so that was nice. read more

Excellent hotel with newer amenities. My stay started off on the right foot after getting checked in by one of the most polite and enthusiastic desk staffers I have met. There are few things better than a warm smile after a long day of work and travel. Room was clean, sheets weren't too stiff, and THE ROOM WAS CLEAN. Some hotels haven't caught onto the cell phone thing so finding outlets by bed is a pain, but not here. There was an outlet box with spaces for your cords AND a USB port. Genius! I reserved two rooms under one booking on hotels.com. Travel restrictions from nys prevented me from taking my trip to Oneonta from Texas. I cancelled the booking on June 1st 30 days prior to the booking. The app stated booking cancelled. On July 1st they charged me for 1 night. I called Hotels.com they said they called Hampton inn Oneonta and the hotel said will not refund. I called the hotel they said I have to call Hotels.com so I called customer service Hampton they cold transferred me back to the hotel where I was once again told to call Hotels.com. Total run around no customer service whatsoever. Everyone passed the buck nobody's fault. Maybe I should call the governor of NY and see if he will give me a refund. read more

From the moment we walked in we felt so welcome. Morgan at the front desk when out of her way to suggest great bars and restaurants in the area and we could wait to head out Main St. She gave us cookies as we checked in and the coffee came in these super cute cups. Signage all over made us smile. A golden retriever in the elevator wearing sunglasses and the word SELFIE as well as "How You Doin?" Across the front door. There's not a lot open at night so I was happy to see they have there own well stocked store in the lobby where we can get some late night snacks. The rooms were clean and quiet and I loved how big the bathtub is! I'm 6'4" so it's such a treat when I can take bath in a hotel. First off, Krispy Kreme donughts in the lobby on check in? Thank you! That is a new one for me. The girl who checked us in was so sweet as well and gave recommendations for independent coffee in the area - she seems to enjoy her job and ready to offer recommendations on local businesses. Squeaky clean lobby. They also offered coffee in the lobby as well as a good selection of teas. Beds were comfy; crisp clean linens, more than one large mirror for inspecting one's outfit, and Neutrogena products in the bathroom. There was a microwave and small fridge in the room. Breakfast was great, with plenty of hot and cold options including plain yogurt, fruit, and other healthy choices to compensate for indulging in that doughnut. A Trip To The Past My stay at the Oneonta Hampton Inn was for the purpose of visiting the Farmers Museum. Check in was smooth and easy. Jerry was very friendly and helpful as well. It was late and I just wanted a quick and easy fast food dinner. Jerry directed me to the local chain restaurants. My room was clean, fresh and inviting. There was a thermostat on the wall to adjust the temperature to my own comfort level and the fan on the wall unit was fairly quiet. The room was quiet throughout the night, no road noises that I could notice. Morning brings a hot and cold breakfast buffet. I had the western omelet with sausage patties and a small bowl of oatmeal. All were hot and fresh. There were also plenty of other choices as well including a selection of fresh fruits, breads and a toaster, muffins, cold cereals and waffle makers to make your own fresh waffles. The lobby has a hot beverage center with coffees and hot water, a selection of teas and hot cocoa and all the necessary additions, available 24 hours a day. This is a two night stay for me. I spent the day visiting the Farmers Museum. Returning to the Inn was a pleasure. A long day out and back to a fresh clean room. Check out was just as effortless as checking in. Hand over my room keys and get the receipt and onto the road for home. read more
