Some room doors here appear to be closed and locked but are actually not, so anyone walking by can just enter the room with a touch. One can leave for the day only to return to find the room was unlocked the entire time. Sometimes it appears to be a card key malfunction, but it is not, the key doesn't work because the door is not actually completely closed by a tiny fraction of an inch and has to be slammed shut. In a quick survey of just my floor, I found three rooms would open just from the force of a brief poke of a finger. Our room, has since been fixed by maintenance but all doors on all floors should be checked. Management must know of this problem, as they must have noticed that guests in those rooms always seemed to need new card keys during their stay. Since having card keys replaced didn't work to solve the problem, we took anything important with us every time we left the room, or left one person behind in the room all day, which was a major inconvenience. My guests had resorted to sticking a wedge of pizza box underneath the door to make it harder to enter as they had been scaring each other awake when they pushed the door open. This hotel really isn't a hotel according to the dictionary as a "hotel" caters to the accommodations of travelers or tourists. This establishment seems primarily cater to people needing long term places to stay and tourists secondary concern, which changes the character of the property as long term residents become territorial and overly familiar with staff. Just like AirBnBs change the character of a residential neighborhood, some long term residents change the character of a hotel for the worse. We personally witnessed long term residents monopolizing public areas for days at a time, propping open exterior doors to bypass key cards, helping themselves to hotel equipment, harassing an employee, insulting a guest and being interviewed by police. There is a tremendous amount of noise at various times of the day. During the last sleep of our stay, at 12:30 AM, everyone in our two rooms was awakened by a guest yelling and cussing at another in his party who seemed to have locked him out. He said his card key didn't work. The doors for adjoining rooms allow much noise to pass through. Early in my stay I complained that I could hear conversations from the next room. There are many children, screaming and misbehaving, interfering with sleep of guests. We have since discovered that these are usually long term guests. Electricity and water! The microwave in our room worked for less than 30 seconds. The replacement microwave tripped a circuit and did something to the refrigerator, which by then had ruined our food and had to be replaced. An air conditioner malfunction set off a fire alarm, which awakened my son recovering from a long international flight, who ran outside in a panic in his pyjamas and was stuck there until the fire department cleared the building. Various outlets didn't work. Phones functioned only intermittently. One room consistently lacked hot water. The pool was murky the entire visit although I was always told they were working on it. The treadmill didn't work. The printer needed help from the front desk clerk to work properly. One item used during breakfast was literally not edible, meaning not meant for human consumption. I called the manufacturer to verify that it was not poisonous, but also was for cleaning purposes, not to be eaten. The location is on an highway ramp and one cannot walk anywhere easily. Getting into and out of the parking lot is difficult. Hampton Inn Hilton seems to no longer guarantee satisfaction in any meaningful way.

Worst Hilton Brand hotel I have ever stayed at. 1st time in June 2024, stay okay but management charged my credit card $1 prior to arrival & then the room was charged. That flagged my credit card company & my card was frozen. 2nd stay August 2024, room (417) smelled musty upon entering only to discover mold in around covers on the wall. Towels were also not laundered well & were dirty. Talked to Night Desk, only option offered was to spray air freshener & was offered one clean towel.

    Bed bug bites

BEWARE! I booked this location as it was close and convenient to on-site work meetings. After my second night of my stay, my neck and upper arms/shoulders had bed bug bites. I found one on the pillow, which explains the pattern of the bites. Once found, the front desk was alerted immediately. I thought they would offer full reimbursement, but they only provided one night credit. (Such a generous offer....eye roll) I am so traumatized by this incident as this is my first time encountering bed bugs at a hotel. I'm a Hilton Honors member and will also be reporting this incident to corporate as well. Really upsetting, unacceptable, and gross!

Be prepared to get kicked out of the pool. The pool is closed most of the time due to swim lessons

I decided to book a room at this nearby hotel during my last night in NJ. The good: - Felix at the front desk is very friendly, in great spirits, and super helpful. - The room was very clean and provided 2 free bottles of water. - The common area upon walking in had a lot of seating with comfortable furniture. - It's next to a big, beautiful park which is great for long walks or runs. - There's a movie theatre across the street. - Plenty of parking. - Easy access to I-95. The bad: - The room could use some updating. - The dressers bottom drawer kept opening even after pushing it back closed. - The room was humid. - The hair conditioner bottle top/pump was broken so I couldn't use it. - In the middle of the night I turned on the light to go to the bathroom and saw a huge centipede on the wall scurrying to hide in the baseboard which was separating from the wall. It continued to hide behind the bed. I hate bugs and know centipedes don't like light... so I literally slept with a light on from fear that I'd wake up to this enormous bug crawling on me. - The rates are expensive for what you're getting. Yes, I could have called and complained about the hair conditioner and the centipede. Maybe they would have switched my room. But I had my own shampoo and conditioner packed and it was the middle of the night and I had my PJs on. I didn't feel like switching rooms at that point. If I stayed here again it would be because of the great service and welcome at the front desk and because of the park.

The customer service at this motel was the absolute worst in the country. My daughter left her toiletry bag in the room when we left. Having left the area, we called and asked them to hold the bag for a UPS pick up. It took 3 calls to get an email address to send the UPS electronic label to the motel. UPS attempted to pick up the bag but couldn't because themotel staff refused to place the bag in a box. We then had a friend in the area go to the motel to retrieve the bag. The staff was refusing to release the bag without a copy of my friend's driver's license. She had no problem showing them her ID but with identify theft booming these days she did not see a need for them to keep a copy of her license. My daughter and I had made multiple calls to the motel over the past week trying to resolve this issue so they knew our voices and phone numbers. Even though we gave verbal authorization for them to give the bag to our friend, they continued to make the situation more difficult than necessary. It took threats of calling the police to get the bag released. Im not sure if it was their lack of ability to speak and comprehend the English language or just their lack of customer service training, but I would avoid this place at all costs.
