We stayed primarily at Hilton properties on our New Mexico roadtrip, this Hampton being the last one on a week long trip. They did warn when sending a reminder email about the reservation that the hotel is undergoing renovations and there might be some evidence of that while staying, we were concerned but stuck with the reservation. Besides the note on check in, I did not see any reno being done, but man does this location need it. It seems like it is 20 years outdated and worn out! The king room we staying in was tight except for the very old bathroom that was huge if not very in need of updates and fixes. We also thought the noise in the hotel was a bit more than anywhere else we stayed. We definitely heard a dog, motorcycles from the property outside we could see (private residence) and voices. If they are really doing a reno, this will all be fixed I am sure, but right now it isn't great. It is a hotel off Route 66, a road more dotted with motels than nicer hotels, so maybe it just is what it is for where it is. However, it was place to lay our heads for the night, nothing made me want to stay. read more

We cannot say enough good things about our experience at the Hampton Inn in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. What started as a stressful situation--my husband's truck breaking down and a painful foot injury that we feared might be broken--turned into something truly special because of the incredible staff here. From the moment we arrived, the kindness and care we received went far beyond anything we expected. Manager Amy runs an outstanding team and clearly sets the tone for genuine compassion and service. Ray at the front desk was especially wonderful--he went out of his way to help us, even connecting us with his sister Juana, who graciously stepped in to give us rides around town when we needed them. That level of personal care is something you just don't see anymore. Ray himself was also incredibly inspiring and helpful throughout our stay. Susan, who took care of hospitality and the kitchen, made sure we were comfortable and well cared for every day. Andrea kindly gave us a ride to the hospital, Jeremy made sure we got safely back, and Carlos helped with transportation to the mechanic so we could deal with the truck. Each person we encountered showed genuine kindness, generosity, and a willingness to go above and beyond. In a difficult moment, they treated us more like family than guests. If you're ever in Santa Rosa, this is the place to stay. Not just for the rooms--but for the truly exceptional people who work there. We have been on the road since 11/1 and have stayed every night at either a Hampton Inn or Garden Inn. This is our last night on the road, and our last "Hilton experience". While I don't like to give poor reviews, this Hampton did not meet our expectations and was the lowest quality we experienced. The room was clean, but VERY dated and truly did not feel like a Hilton hotel. As it did have some updates, it just felt old and the shower, while looked clean, just kind of made it feel dirty by being so dated. Also, we could hear constant squeaking on the floor above from the guests walking. The breakfast was good and equal to some of the other hotels, (some others were outstanding) so no complaints for Santa Rosa. The game-room with pool table was a nice surprise, but Hilton, i. My opinion THIS IS NOT HAMPTON INN QUALITY/STANDARDS. I would suggest mandating updates as we were disappointed and will not stay at this hotel again. read more

This review is based off the heat alone. If you are looking for a hotel that has sauna like rooms, look no further. We walked into a 90° room. Guys I don't joke with heat. I'm not sure who can sleep in a 90° room. (The Great grandparents were not traveling with us. ) While the room was set to 66 and heat... somewhere the building registered that to be way hotter. I can only imagine the energy drainage at this older hotel. The good thing about old is they had a window that cracked about 3 inches. Had it not been for that I'm not sure we could've made it through the night. There was an uncomfortable dog barking at the house below some of the night, however at least we were able to get some sort of air movement. Thank goodness for a colder winter night. Because our air conditioning was definitely not working well. Red Hot Moment? Most Definitely! Unfortunately most of the reviews are right as far as upgrades. In fact, I had to choose whether to plug my phone in or the light. We were on the 3rd, top floor, since some reviews mentioned lots of noise from rooms above. NM 01-2024 Santa Rosa Hampton Inn by Hilton My hubby Tony and I stayed here tonight, like at many Hilton hotels over the past 2 wks...and this was by far the worse on my list. The hotel was lovely and well located on Historic Route 66, interior was nice. My room was lovely but my bathroom was horrible. Shower was filthy. Hotel was full so they could not move us. There was mold and chipped pieces. I had to clean the shower Bottom be cause I was going to try and overcome my paranoia because I suffer from several mental handicaps but I freaked OUT when several long black hairs began floating around which indicated in my book the shower hadn't been cleaned!! I could not shower in that shower now!! The hotel was full no vacancy so I was just SOS out of Luck...I freaked out. I need to bathe. I paid for a room. If they didn't clean the shower how do I know the bedroom was even cleaned. My nerves are now shot out of the park. Not only NO SHOWER BUT NOW NO SLEEP... I wish I could not worry about germs and bacteria and go about my day....but I can't easily do that! I called Hilton Corporate about it. They are contacting the hotel on my behalf. The room was clean and neat. It was comfortable and had great amenities. Coffee pot, fridge, microwave, tv, shampoo and conditioner, body gel, and digital room keys! The breakfast was amazing, I had a hard time deciding between the waffles {with all the fixings} or the oatmeal with all the add ins. Also coffee was available along with teas and even hot chocolate. Every Hampton I've ever stayed at has been nice. But this location is one of the worst hotels I've EVER stayed. My family and I were passing through and we booked 2 rooms. The one room we booked smelled HORRIBLE. The other room had the most disgusting carpet. Once I took off my shoes I could instantly tell it was moldy or just recently dyed or something. My feet turned black and after grabbing a towel from the bathroom and rubbed the carpet this is what I was stepping on. SO GROSS. Lastly, our remote for the tv was not working. I understand they don't have many good options in Santa Rosa especially with a dog but the only thing I will complain about is that the room smelled like it had been sitting there for months with no movement. Spent a long and hot day at the Blue Hole. I had rented a room for $300 a night only to find out there was no hot water in the shower. There was very hot water in the sink but not the shower. I contacted the front desk, who called her manager. Since all rooms were sold, there were no other rooms available. What option did they give me? I could go to another guest's room and use that shower!!!! I was also told I would receive no refund. Avoid this hotel! read more

Very clean and spacious rooms. The soap supplies were full and good quality and scent. The breakfast was fully stocked and the area was clean even though we got there 10 minutes before it ended. This was a great halfway stopping point between Las Vegas and San Antonio. Would definitely use this hotel again. read more

9/14/22: Overall 2.5 stars. Well, compared to our stay at Hampton Inn in Gallup, NM the day prior, this was a huge step up. The check-in worker was friendly & helpful in trying to give us recommendations on where to eat. He gave us extra water bottles without any hassle (unlike the checkout lady in Gallup that morning). Rooms were decent. But the breakfast buffet area had no air conditioning (broken). It was disgustingly hot. No teas. Not the worst Hampton Inn, but they could definitely step it up. Santa Rosa isn't that much better (or different) than Gallup. Try to avoid NM as a stop, if you can. Just power through and drive through the night! The hot breakfast buffet dining area & no teas bring them down to 2.5. But because workers were decent, I'll round up to 3 stars. Hoping to never stay anywhere in NM again! read more

The hotel was a little run down. Our bathroom stunk like sewage, so we had to keep the door shut, the bathroom floor tile was cracked and the showerhead had very little pressure. Towels well you're lucky if you get 2 towels, and no bar soap only a small bottle of body soap to share and wash with. The staff was friendly and they provide complementary breakfast, which was ok. They are dog friendly and provide potty bags, but the pet potty place is pebble rocks and our dog was used to grass, so we had to go to front of location. We probably will pass by this town next trip and search for a town that has more variety of food places, shops hotels etc. Too bad no one wants to work and more businesses open up here, it was once a great little town. read more

I think Hilton should probably drop this particular Hampton and the owners should rebrand it as a holiday inn, or something lower down the hotel luxury totem pole. It fails to live up to the modern, clean standard other Hamptons have set. This particular Hampton Inn is more "motel" than "hotel" in both smell and appearance. The rooms are old and dated. Surfaces are more yellow than bright white. I don't think they've replaced the towels in over a decade. The front of the hotel is not maintained (trash can over flowing). Beyond the need for some serious updating, the staff is unfriendly. It's true that COVID has turned a lot of people into a-holes, so I don't know if the front desk customer service is a symptom of that or if these employees always lacked basic people skills, but every staff member at the hotel could have used a strong dose of happy. Also, I know rules are rules and New Mexico doesn't exactly want a bunch of tourists passing through, but do the mask and social distancing signs really have to be so aggressive? I think there are more pleasant ways to convey state policies to travelers than the verbiage chosen by this hotel. We left the Hampton Inn Santa Rosa with the impression that THEY were doing US a favor for taking our money and letting us stay there, instead of the other way around. Very off-putting. We will not stay here again on future road trips. read more

This beautiful little oasis in the desert was a perfect place to crash after 9 hours on the road. The staff was accommodating and even allowed us to swim and didn't come kick us out as the clock hit the pumpkin hour. Well maintained and clean. Our room was spacious and the beds comfy. Everyone of the staff was cordial and polite. I accidentally closed the door to the business center and although the sweet girl at the desk was frustrated she told me no worries she'd take care of it. I felt so bad but she was so sweet not just polite but sweet, that was what made it more cringe worthy for me because I had caused her extra work. The cleaning ladies in the early morning of March 15 were screaming at the top of their lungs their family problems and how they fight with their in laws, this noise went out for a very long time outside of our room , while this was happening I could barely opened my eyes as I was half asleep, I eventually got up since they wouldn't stop they loud conversation, I opened my door and ask them: would you please lower your voice? No issues with the room or actual facility. My issue is with the supplemental $75 fee for having a dog. I understand that it's the "right" of the franchise, though it seems pretty much unnecessary and nothing more than add on profit. My credit card is on file with Hilton if there was an issue after I vacated the room then I'm sure they would have notified me and attempted to charge the full cost. There is really no reason for the pet non-refundable charge. To anyone, if you stay in a hotel etc... video the room when you arrive and when you leave. What a sorry representative property of Hilton & Hampton Inn! This older hotel needs updating and retraining of both staff & management. My King room had worn carpet, unclean bathroom floor, and leaking faucet at the sink, causing water to flow down to the 2nd shelf beneath the sink (damaging my personal items). There were complications with my room rate, that required multiple discussions with front desk staff....for a one night stay!!! Breakfast was poor!!!! The breakfast staff had zero training in how to make the oatmeal....it was watery like soup, and several other guests similarly complained. They had run out of many basic items for breakfast, at 8:15 AM. My recommendation to those considering staying in Santa Rosa......don't. Instead, drive on over to Tucumcari, and let this old small town of the West die its natural death, which is long overdue!!! read more

Being a Diamond member, we are fully aware of the Hilton standards. This location was outdated ran down. The front desk staff was not very friendly. And overwhelmed. The pool table was a great thing. However, the top of the pool table was ripped the pool sticks were broken. We were going to use the pool. It looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time. Very disappointed in the standards of this hotel. The room was cluttered with dressers in a large office desk hard to move around. read more

We were traveling cross country and have stayed at many of Hilton/ Hampton Inns and been well pleased. This is not the case with the Hampton Inn in Santa Rosa, NM. It was not the warm friendly Hampton that we are used to. When we checked in, I found that someone off the street with no discount was paying less for the same room as us even though we have Honors MVP. We stayed on second floor, the hallway had musky odor, wallpaper was peeled up in places, baseboards were gone, and carpets were stained. Supposedly, they were remodeling, but from reading other reviews, remodeling has been going on for a year! Housekeeping knocked on door at 8:30 am. In my opinion, a little pushy! At 9:00 am, I went down to breakfast to find most things gone! I asked about fresh mixed fruit. I was told they were out. The pastry case was almost empty, and so were the boiled eggs. Another guest asked for waffle batter and was told there was no more. (I have pictures to back this up.) Knowing we were frustrated with breakfast... The desk clerk asked, "How was your stay?" I told her as nicely as I could put it about my frustrations. She offered me NO apology but told me that they couldn't fix it, if they didn't know what was wrong. She blamed the food shortage on large families that they had earlier in the morning. Way overpriced!!!! $152 is definitely to much to pay for this motel. read more

Upon entry the facility made me feel very safe, had hand sanitizer in many locations, masks are mandatory on the first floor. My room was clean, And the bed was perfect. It was nicer inside than expected. Noticed exercise equipment - It had basketball hoop and a stationary bicycle outside. Everything was fine until we got up and one of the kids jumped out of bed and found a BED BUG! When I talked to the girl on the phone to make our reservation she said they had good, working wifi which is one of the requirements I have for staying at a hotel. Wifi was non-existent so I had to use my phone as a hot spot, eating up my data. Called the front desk and told the girl I couldn't hook up to their wifi. She asked if I had entered the password given, DUH, of course I did. Then she said her wifi in the lobby was working just fine so it wasn't their problem I couldn't get on because it was working fine there. The alarm clock in the room wasn't working, even plugged in. The cord was frayed up by the clock so I'm assuming that was the problem? But she never offered us a different clock when I told her it wasn't working. There's a nice desk to setup your computer, but no place to plug it in unless you unplugged the TV, refrigerator or microwave. We were using all three of those so when I finished early on my computer because the battery was getting low, I was able to take it over to a bench in the room which had an outlet by it, so I could charge it up during the night. We did find outlets on the light above the nightstand so we could have our phones charging during the night. To me, the room layout could have been much better for outlets to use. Other outlet was on the wall by the side of my bed where there was about a foot of room between the wall and the bed. They told us to talk to the manager in the morning but when we checked out were told there was no manager there. They did say that when the manager came it they would have them call us. That has not happened in the days since we were there. I doubt if a call will ever come. I feel I should be compensated for having to use my data because of their non-working wifi. In the morning I was able to hook up to their wifi but it's at night when I'm on the computer in a hotel room. Beds were hard as a rock so I got very little sleep and when I got up it took hours for my hips to stop hurting. I tossed and turned all night so did not get a good nights sleep for the next days drive towards WI. The breakfast was OK with scrambled eggs but there was no meat as we were told there would be. No milk except for skim milk, we're 2% drinkers as skim tastes like water to us. Small dixie size cups for the juice. Maybe 2 swallows per cup. Very few towels so lucky it was the next night on the road where we showered at the Sleep Inn in Blackwell, OK which is a hotel I highly recommend. read more

Not a quality experience as typical with Hilton Brand hotels. We often stay at Hampton Inns since we have the reward account and credit card, and this was one of the worst we have stayed at. The two desk attendants were both sitting low behind the counter and didn't bother to stand or greet us. They then got our room wrong and we had to lug our stuff back downstairs to sort it out. Once in our correct room, it was very disappointing. Stained sheets and carpet, peeling wallpaper, cracked tiles and doors, dipping floors, standing water in our ice bucket, thin walls/floors that allow you to hear every move and noise from neighbor's and used linens in the closet. In addition, the wifi didn't work and the cell service (we have AT&T) was quite poor, dropping calls or not working at all. Would not recommend if you need to use these for work purposes (or in general). Breakfast did its job but wasn't as good as other locations. Stale bread and bagels, brown bananas, heaping trash (at 6:30 AM), and the fresh cut fruit tasted incredibly "off," like chemicals. Vincent, the kitchen attendant was fabulous, however. The only friendly or helpful staff member we encountered. He greeted us warmly, cleaned a table for us, and brought our son coloring materials. He was hustling the entire time we were there. We do like the variety of TV channels, the indoor pool and the outlet/charging kiosk on the nightstand. The pillows were awfully flat but the comforter and mattress comfy enough for a good night's sleep. We prepaid but received a bill via email for a differing amount. When I checked out, I asked for a printout and they gave me someone else's bill. We then received yet another bill via email with a third total. We will wait to see what clears on our credit card and reach out to corporate for hopefully more organized staff to assist. I give one star for Vincent and one for sleeping well, but we would not recommend this location. Not worth the cost when there are cheaper places of equal quality in town. read more

We stopped here for the night to rest before our final leg to Las Vegas. We have stayed at 3 other Hampton inns in the last week and we have enjoyed them all. This one however was a little lack luster. We were fortunate to get the very last room and I was not impressed. Please see our pics for reference. The thermostat in our room was out of order. The ice machine was out of order. Our door to our room looks like it was ripped off and rehung crooked. The floor has a big hump in it and getting out of the elevator there's a hollow spot in the hallway I almost tripped on. Breakfast was terrible, someone was serving it from the breakfast room and things on the posted menu, like orange juice, weren't available. We've stayed in many Hamptons on this particular road trip and this was the most expensive. Probably wouldn't stay again due to the price. read more

Had an excellent stay in this hotel. The room was refreshingly bigger than most other Hampton inns and Holiday J have stayed at. This hotel had a comparably better breakfast than most other hotels I have stayed in recently (currently doing a road trip across the country) finally had a warm, savory breakfast! They even had a TO-GO bag which had an awesome pastry. The hotel was clean and had good customer service. My only issue was that we were near the elevator on the third floor and the button to call the elevator got stuck; the elevator kept on opening and closing and beeping for a long time. I had to get up and notify the front desk of the issue, but it was resolved promptly. I also found that the front desk staff were often away from their desk, so had to wait for them multiple times. The staff here were wonderful and so accommodating. We are traveling with my ESA and had reservations at the Best Western next door. Upon check-in there, the clerk told me there were only two rooms for a dog to stay in and she assigned us one. We unloaded everything into our room and then left to explore the surrounding area. About an hour later I get a call saying that they need to change my room because I'm not in a dog room so she gives me a choice of two rooms, both with a queen bed, instead of a king. Very unacceptable to me and poor customer service. So, we stopped at the Hampton next door and they had a room available and completely accommodated my dog. The room was very comfortable and quiet. We are Hilton Honors members and normally stay at that brand and this is the reason why! When I went back to the BW and told her I was not staying due to this mess, she completely back peddled saying I didn't have to move rooms and then started to argue with me about leaving!
