    Nice vibe room

My brother-in-law and I mutually despise each other therefore every time I visit my family in Connecticut I stay in a hotel. (Yes I have a condo but its occupied) I make a trip out of it and stay at the nicest hotel possible in the most random city In Connecticut (sorry Shelton-ians) Miles was amazingly welcoming when I shlepped in at 2 am to check in. While I was in an Uber during my drive from the airport he actually called to check in on me/my ETA which was really nice considering my own family was sleeping and no check in from them :/ My hotel room was Spacious, Clean and probably one of the most comfortable beds I've ever stayed in anywhere. They have complimentary breakfast apparently that's fantastic but I usually sleep until around noon. Snack shop has essentials where I purchase junk food to sneak to my nephews. Convenient Porte cochere for ride share pick up . Thanks Miles see u soon!

Immaculate room accommodations that let you see previous guests' treasures from over the years of staying in that room.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This is by far the most filthy, disgusting hotel I have ever seen. You are better off going to the Berlin Turnpike where you know you will catch Hepatitis The hotel should pay you to stay away from this place. Moldy rooms that literally have trash piled up behind furniture, personal belongings left behind from previous guests (marijuana vapes) for children to find, discrimination for pool passes so the hotel can upcharge you, unsafe slide where you can cur yourself and be in a dirty pool as well as a incredibly angry GM that will blame you for his disgusting business.

I had a great experience at the Hampton Inn Shelton. The hotel is updated and clean. Staff are very helpful too. The complimentary breakfast had some great options. There are lots of nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner in the shopping plaza directly across the street. The hotel also has a pool which you can access with a reservation.

Management enforces mask use. I spent the night in a King size room with a sitting area There was a flat, adjustable Panasonic TV between the bedroom and sitting area. Only Direct TV was available with 42 channels. No Smart TV is on the premises. The sitting area featured a coffee bar with a basic coffee maker, mini fridge cabinet and microwave. The closet had six hangers, an ironing board and an iron. The room was clean and updated The shower had a glass door but no tub. A hair dryer and some towels were shelved above the toilet. There was a vanity area with two mirrors and some complimentary toiletries. The thermostat was easy to operate and blew air quietly. The fitness area is big enough for about three people. Management monitors who goes inside for COVID-19 tracking reasons. Breakfast was in a to-go bag that had a can of orange juice, an orange, Yoplait yogurt and a muffin. I threw it out and got some oatmeal at Starbucks, which is a quick drive around the corner. The hotel is in a busy shopping district with many other hotels, so if you do not like this hotel you can easily stay somewhere else. Because I prefer a smart TV with my hotel stays, I am giving Hampton Inn Hilton four stars. I won't be coming back.

    BED BUG BITES
    Carol C.

Booked 3 rooms for two nights to attend a funeral service for my Dad. We had nothing but problems and I would avoid this hotel at all costs. The primary complaint being BED BUGS in two out of the 3 rooms. My daughter and I were chewed up and had red, itchy, swollen oozy bites. And I now have to deal with bed bugs possibly being in my luggage and brought in to my house. The other issues were keys that did not work, TVs that did not work, and the heater in the room that blew nothing but freezing air. Had to change rooms in the middle of the night or risk getting pneumonia. The bathrooms and showers were also filled with black mold. I have attached pictures of all. I also contacted the hotel through their 'customer service' website and they have not even responded. Incredible this place has 4 stars. Hard to believe.

Great place to visit! Rooms were clean and roomy. Microwaves and mini frigs in room worked well. Beds and couch were comfortable. Free hot breakfast was a nice addition. Main reason to go to this hotel is the pool with the water slide! Kids loved it but it can get a little crowded. Staff was friendly and nice. It's well situated with a mini mall across the street with plenty of food options. We would definitely visit again!

We stayed on the 6th floor in a king room. The room was dated but clean. Being gold Hilton members, we got free breakfast which was meh. Definitely not worth $21/person (go to the Plaza Diner up the street for a better breakfast). Second stay was horrible! Not worth the 30k points paid for the room. No water bottles at check in and the front desk person was not friendly, more dismissive. We checked into room 205 around 3pm. Immediately, we noticed the toilet was broken. They sent someone within 5 minutes to fix it. When we can back at night after dinner around 11pm, our entire room smelled like gas! We both were getting lightheaded and went to the front desk to change rooms. We were then moved to 215 which was better. They offered us free breakfast in the morning but we passed. HOWEVER- staff completely ignored me upon checking in. Her coworker had to tell me that the woman I was trying to check in with was a bubblehead who doesn't pay attention to anything. So he had to intervene and take over (I am not entirely sure of the professionalism in completely throwing your coworker under the bus, lol). I had to call the front desk to have my bathroom cleaned. It had a black ring around the tub and there was extension hair behind the toilet. I mentioned this to the front desk agent and she asked me if I wanted the whole room cleaned. My response was "maybe we should if the bathroom looks this bad!". She laughed and acknowledged that her laughter was an inappropriate response. The room was not addressed until I called a second time after noon. There was rust, mold, dust, and an overall appeal of a hotel in desperate need of attention and refurbishment. But they have free breakfast! Week two: missing essentially all of paper products, and soap upon check-in. Tub does not hold water. Rust on nearly all fixtures. But they have a pool! Week three: I have noticed that I say "good morning" to staff every day and they are buried in their phones. They do not acknowledge customers coming in and out. They definitely have issues with parking as every day I have tried to exit for important work matters and have been met with a delivery truck or shuttle directly in front of the hotel with not much of a way for customers to get their cars out. Week 4: I'm so over this place. Fights have broken out during my stay. The fire alarm has gone off. Police have visited on a separate occasion, not related to the second issue... One woman in particular was causing trouble for many of the hotel patrons. Staff were informed many times, but nothing was done about this particular woman who was causing massive disruption and physical abuse to others. This is close to being the absolute most ghetto place I've ever stayed at. ...but they have a gym! :::shrug::: Location is prime, however. You decide, lol. Inconsistent, unprofessional, outdated... but they have a fitness room (obviously unimpressed at this point)! Definitely not a pleasant experience during the entirety of the month. This place needs an extensive overhaul of staff professionalism, service, support, cleanliness, communication, and appeal. :::This concludes my four week diary:::

I made a commitment regarding reviewing this hotel that I have put off, but no longer…read more I would be rating this hotel a 5 with the greatest enthusiasm behind it, except that the hot tub was not working during my recent stay. I was told, much to my surprise and displeasure, that it had not been working for 2 years! The website said it was "temporarily out of order" when I booked the room. I hoped it would be repaired by the time of my stay, not realizing the serious of the situation until I arrived. The woman at the front desk told me she had been trying to expedite the repairs with management. I told her I would also let the Marriott Corp. know that I would like very much for them to make the repairs ASAP. The hot tub ends up being a deal breaker for me on future trips because, considering the price differential between this hotel and others nearby that are reasonably clean and comfortable, the hot tub benefit is what justifies the additional cost. That is only because of a good government employee discount I get at Marriott hotels. If not for that, this place would most likely not even be within a reasonable price range for me, but with that discount and the hot tub available, it's a deal worth taking. There are other benefits to this hotel, compared to others in the area that people might consider worth paying an additionally for, but for me, the hot tub is the one that matters. The interior at ground level and the exterior grounds are both excellent. The on-site restaurant is good and not exceedingly expensive. So if they reopen the hot tub I will jump to rate it a 5.

At least have one on each floor.I stayed there a week and room service cam to my room only once the whole week even though they say they offer housekeeping daily. The food was ok in the restaurant in the lobby (pictured) but nothing to really write home about. I had to ask for trash bags to put in my garbage cans. The staff however were really nice, but I think they are severely understaffed. There were also several events going on like a prom and a graduation which just made staying here more inconvenient for business travelers. I will not be staying here again.

But when we arrived at 1 a.m., the night clerk said he didn't want to check us in because he was scared his manager would get upset. He actually wanted us to wait in the car until morning. Eventually, he "snuck" us into our room, took my ID, and made me promise to come back down at 6:30 a.m. to officially check in before the manager arrived. We received filthy, stained kitchenware that we had to rewash multiple times. The dish rack was disgusting. The lobby constantly smelled of smoke and trash. Outside was littered with webs, cigarette butts, bugs, and dog feces. It was clear the staff didn't care about guest comfort or cleanliness. We noticed an empty one-bedroom unit next to ours that had a door separating the bedroom; perfect for me as a night-shift nurse who needed to sleep during the day. The housekeeper let us see it and encouraged us to ask about renting it. I went down to ask, and that's when I met the manager, Mimi, who said the room wasn't available because it was her apartment. But the room had no signs of being lived in; no food, no clothes, nothing personal. It looked exactly like a normal, vacant hotel room. I called Guest Relations. They put me on hold, called Mimi, and came back just to repeat the same excuse. When I asked to escalate it to the district manager, I was told I'd get a callback within 48 hours. That never happened. A week later, Mimi claimed she only sometimes stayed in that room and said she'd check with corporate about pricing. She never followed up. I asked multiple times. Still nothing. We ended up leaving the Shelton location for another ESA in Norwalk. Before leaving Shelton, I also asked Mimi about the 30-day tax-free rate and was told I'd have to pay for all 30 days upfront. Turns out that wasn't true. I was misled into making weekly reservations, which kept my rate higher and ensured I'd never qualify for the tax exemption. The Norwalk ESA manager later confirmed that I could've booked my full stay and just paid weekly. Like we ended up doing at her location. Weeks later, I saw the exact one-bedroom suite Mimi claimed was hers listed online. I booked it successfully from July 12- September 30. When I followed up, the front desk confirmed my reservation had gone through. But Mimi emailed me saying the room was "not available," and told me I could only book it for one night at a time. My guess is because she wanted to use it for herself. How is that okay? The district manager still never followed up, never reached out, and clearly didn't care. There is zero accountability at this location. Guests are treated like a nuisance instead of paying customers who deserve basic decency. Mimi withheld room access, misled us about booking policies, and made decisions based on personal convenience--not business integrity. This location is mismanaged, dishonest, and disrespectful. Extended Stay America should do better.
