King bed was very comfortable. We both slept well! (A white noise app drowned out the fridge noise). I had requested an extra blanket and there was one in the closet. Check-in was fast and polite. They had a toothbrush for me when I asked. Room smelled clean. Halls were OK. Bathroom was huge with plenty of towels. Good counter space and a hook on the door. The city water smelled chlorinated but they had cups (plastic :-() wirh filtered water at hotel entry. Sheets slightly bleachy. The shower took several minutes to get hot but was fine. Toilet fine. Breakfast fine. Coffee good. There were No problems! We would stay here again. read more

My experience at the Hyatt House in Shelton was excellent from check-in to check-out. Jose greeted me warmly and was happy to see my puppy. The check-in process was quick and easy. Throughout my stay, Jose and the other staff were polite and friendly. I appreciated the included breakfast, especially since they served hot breakfast, and the cookies and hot water in the lobby during the day were a nice touch. Housekeeping came after five days to change the bedding, which I appreciated. I booked the Studio King room, which was a great size and included a kitchenette and sofa bed. The bed was very comfortable. Parking was available outside and in an underground garage, which was helpful since it was cold during my visit. There was also a bar and pool table. When I decided to extend my stay, Jose helped me easily and gave me options so I could stay in the same room. I will definitely rebook at the Hyatt House when I return to Connecticut. The staff, especially Jose, made my stay enjoyable with their kindness and willingness to help. read more

To be fair this hotel tries to call itself a Hyatt House when in reality it's not. My bf and his mom and I stayed here this past August and when we checked in everything seemed fine until we got to our rooms. Now we were told that the hotel is undergoing renovations so that was not a surprise but what was a surprise was the room layout. I have stayed at other Hyatt Houses in the past as I am an employee so I know what the typical layout should look like. This room was a studio layout and did not have the separate bedroom and full kitchen set up. They are trying to pass off these rooms like that of a Hyatt House, but you just can't do that especially when booking this room that is the picture I was shown. I was also very disappointed that the rooms do not have bathtubs and when I went down to the front desk to ask about that I was told they have done away with tubs. Interesting when we were walking through the halls and saw a room under construction mind you with a tub. Either way they need to update their website because it still advertises tubs in the rooms. The staff was not very caring about this and even asked me oh is that still showing on the website like hello how are you not aware of this. Its painfully obvious they do not care to even look. We also thought it was strange when entering the room that the tv was left on at full volume. Another issue we had was the room we were on had an overwhelming scent of cigarettes. I wonder if the housekeepers are smoking in the rooms because it was very noticeable. My bf's moms' room was not as bad as she was on a higher floor, but this is not what we want to smell when entering our rooms. Our ice machine that was right across from our room was not even plugged in, so we had to go to a different floor to get ice, and we were not told of this upon our check in. I was also very concerned about the other reviews about this hotel and cars being vandalized. Luckily, we did not have an issue and parked in their underground garage, but they really need to get some better security measures in to play. A positive was the breakfast every morning and luckily the hotel was fairly quiet. All in all, I doubt we will be back to this location and will give the Greenwich Hyatt our business in the future. read more

Bed Bugs! If you care about your well being, I would move on to another hotel. The hotel management, (Assistant and GM) were not helpful at all. After video proof of the bed bug in my bed including my bites, they still stuck with the claim that housekeeping and their engineer didn't find any bedbugs. There was no empathy nor concern for my incident. As a member of a hospitality team, you would think once they heard word of the issue they would have reached out. WRONG, I had to reach out to them each time to try and come to a resolution and report the issue. It took me contacting corporate to get any sense of compassion for what was going on because it sure didn't come from the Joseph Jurek (Asst. GM) or Mihir Bhatt (GM). A not so great experience. The shower in the room had a drain that was nearly clogged. The shower head was like a fire hose. I was standing in water within seconds. There's no way housekeeping missed this when they last cleaned the room. If they reported it, it was ignored. The elevators were dirty. Stains everywhere. The breakfast staff made no efforts to clear dishes and glassware quietly. It was as if they were trying to disturb the guests. The dishware was dirty, stained, and old. The hallways smelled bad. Walking past housekeepers several times, all we heard was their profanity-laced conversations from the rooms they were working in. 3rd floor, you know how you are. I actually think that the hotel is in beautiful hotel it seems clean enough I just saw that thing about the bed bugs and it's just freaking me out good thing I didn't see it before I got there I would have been tearing the place apart making sure I was safe because once you get one of those you can't get rid of them. But I had a very bad experience with one of the night guys he was very rude and considerate rushing me out the door threatening to call the cops on me because I took long a little bit longer to pack up all my s*** when I was asked to exit the building in a very rude manner. Yesterday Afternoon I went In To The Hotel With My Friend And We have had the worst Experience. We witness one of the coworkers named Jessica. She was yelling and treating one of the other employees named Janet horribly. I've asked the front desk for the women's name after witnessing this. Jessica was calling Janet , bitch and yelling at her and telling Janet aggressively how to do her job. I felt so bad for Janet . I wanted to smack Jessica across the face, but I had to keep calm. I would never come back to this hotel after witnessing how Jessica mistreat this poor woman. I would never come back here. Later that day, I heard Jessica yelling at two other employees, the housekeeping woman. This is ridiculous in front of me and other customers. How dare she. Also, as I was walking past the hallways, I heard loud music coming from the laundry room another employee blasting the music. I want my refund after this horrible experience. This hotel has large very well appointed rooms with amenities that include a cooking area dishwasher microwave and full size refrigerator! The staff that greeted us were outstanding, friendly and informative. The bar area is small but doable with TV and pool table. There's also an indoor pool and jacuzzi, and decent workout room. Breakfast was included so that's s nice bonus, overall we really enjoyed our stay there! read more

Stayed here Saturday night for a little get away with my bf for my birthday. The pictures looked nice and it was a decent price. Checking in was easy and the woman who worked at the desk was extremely friendly and kind. The room appeared clean but had a really funky smell... hard to describe, almost like bad air freshener mixed with something burning on the stove. The bathroom floor was cleaned with something that made it EXTREMELY slippery, I almost fell several times. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were flat and awful. I was feeling sick the next morning so I unfortunately didn't try the breakfast. read more

I Stayed here the beginning of august arrived Friday night around 9pm went out to my vehicle at 8 am and my vehicle was on blocks and all 4 wheels were gone. The hotel staff was more interested in having me fill out an incident report then anything else. There aren't any cameras on premises which I think is extremely unsafe. I try to cut places slack during COVID times but I'm very disappointed with this hotel and it's lack of cleanliness. In our first room there were carpet beetles, spider webs in the corner and toe nails on the bed. Also, there were holes in the sheets. We of course made a complaint and were given a new room. The new room is a little bit better but not by much. This room is a bit rundown and again the cleanliness is lacking. We planned to stay here 3 days but we will be checking out in the morning and finding somewhere else to stay. I'm very uncomfortable staying here and would have checked out tonight, if I weren't exhausted from driving. read more

I love this hotel. This is my second time being here, always accompanying my boyfriend on his business trips. Every time I have joined, I have never been anything less than blown away by the cleanliness, comfort and friendliness/helpfulness of the staff. The complimentary breakfast that comes with the room, is a huge boom. They have everything you could possibly want, from cereal to a fresh hot breakfast. Besides the breakfast, the food you can purchase at the bar it's self is delicious, fresh and always comes out hot. I have only had the buffalo wings And grilled cheese myself but both were delicious. I can only imagine how great everything else is. The rooms are pretty spectacular. This time around we have a king size studio with a kitchenette. Smaller but almost full-size fridge, electric stove, dishwasher, cooking utensils / vessels and a living room with a pull out couch. A huge plus is the vanity being separate from the shower and toilet. Great when you have to share a room with someone so you still have complete privacy. All in all, great place to stay. The beds are comfortable, the people are nice, the area is fantastic and you have everything you could ever need at your fingertips. I'm very thankful that this is the preferred hotel for my boyfriends company. read more

I had really high hopes for this hotel and left disappointed. The trip started off on the wrong foot when the wrong prices were shown on Priceline/booking.com. The one bedroom suite that was on Priceline was listed for $59.00 and I booked three nights. I was then reached out to by booking.com to inform me that the prices were incorrect and one nights rate was supposed to be $164.00 but they were willing to give me the suite for $99.00. By that time, I was exhausted with going back and forth with Priceline about another issue related to my reservations that I just wanted it all to be over so I agreed even though I would have appreciated the price on the website being honored but I understand that if they honored my price, they would need to honor others' prices and some rooms were going for $19.00 per night so I understand why they didn't and I also understand that mistakes happen. Once I got to the hotel, I was told that the one bedroom suite I had booked was not available for my first night (Friday). This was really annoying - I booked this hotel specifically for the one bedroom suite not so I could stay in a studio for one night and switch rooms the next day. I will say that the workers as the Hyatt were absolutely wonderful and very accommodating. I know they were doing all they could do given the circumstances. The woman working at the front desk called my room multiple times giving me updates on when the one bedroom suite would be ready, etc. Once I moved into the hotel one bedroom suite, I was under the impression that the stove was not working (though looking back, I think it was my mistake) but when I reached out to the front desk, they had a maintenance person, Dominic, come within 5 minutes and reset the stove. He was extremely gracious. The breakfast was a huge disappointment! and i really wanted to like it. The potatoes were hard, the eggs were just okay and my omelette was semi burnt. I only went one morning out of the 3 mornings I was there so maybe it was just a bad morning. The beds were comfortable! Loved the beds and the one bedroom suite was nice - it was spacious and I really liked the kitchen though it would have been nice if there was a an oven but I am sure this is a reason why ovens are not included in the kitchen. The bathrooms are okay, It would be nice if the tub was a little more updated. I gave the Hyatt place a three instead of a two because of the workers. I forgot the name of the woman working on Saturday (morning and night) but she really was so incredibly nice, warm and welcoming. The one reason why I would go back to the Hyatt if I am in the area again would be because of the workers there, Hyatt - you have really done a great job with hiring those individuals I interacted with this weekend because they made an otherwise not exceedingly amazing experience this weekend all that much better. read more

Book a room block at this hotel for my wedding. When I walked in, I told them my name and they were extremely friendly. I explained that I needed them to hand out bags to the guests that had booked a room which they were very enthusiastic about doing. The female at the front even was so excited, she made a sign for the guests that were coming. Hotel was very clean and had great amenities in the room. The bar area is a little small but you can deal with it as the bartenders are very knowledgeable and clearly experienced. They have an indoor pool and Jacuzzi which was also very clean. All of my guests as well as myself all enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. read more

I travel a bit for work and being a Hyatt member, I typically choose this brand whenever I can. I've been to several Hyatt Houses, and I really liked this one. Only there for 1 night, (plus I arrived late) I expected to be pushed through the process and on my way. However, the two ladies at the front desk were super friendly, and not only gave me a welcome package with a personalized greeting from the manager, they upgraded me for free, and pointed out all of their amenities, which I found to be more extensive than a typical Hyatt House (i.e. pool table, full restaurant and bar...etc) I was able to sneak a quick glass of wine from the bar before last call and took it up to my incredibly clean and organized room. Everything worked well, the bed was super comfortable, and I got a great nights sleep. There was a great spread for breakfast the next morning, and I checked out feeling great and ready for my meeting. Good job to the staff there as you made me feel welcome and comfortable! read more

Update to my experience at the Hyatt Shelton: Hyatt management at the hotel lied and said that they refunded my room night through Hotels.com. They have not. Hotels.com has indicated that they have received no refund and therefore I must pay for a night in a hotel bed smeared with a prior guests feces. This is unbelievable. Hyatt has not responded to my emails requesting further action. Hyatt does not care about their guests and I am actually a member of their "World of Hyatt". Do not stay at this hotel. read more

Wanna give this place 5 stars b/c my first impression was so great and I was greeted so warmly... even have fresh apples on lounge tables for guest to take. However, after returning to my room earlier this evening to my room was noisy due to the heater/coolant even after turning it off, I was given another room but I had to go down to the front desk to pick up the keys. That was around 10pm. Their explanation: only 1 staff on site for the evening, which happened to be the front desk person. Then, after taking a shower, I noticed that there was no lotion in the new room so I called down and another person answered. He said he had some, but that I should come down to pick it up. It was at midnight. He said he was the only one on staff for the night and could not leave his post. So... so far this place looks great, but service stinks. I expected a better stay at this hotel. Overall, I would stay again for the price, but there is a lot that I would improve with this specific location. It is very family friendly and surrounded by restaurants, no shortage of food options! I would recommend Pancheros Mexican Grill which is about .5 miles away (or about 11 minutes walking) or the Chilis and Longhorn Steakhouse that is directly across the street from the hotel. There is also a Five Guys and Ruby Tuesday's across the street. There are several hotels near this hotel, and if trying to stay in this area of Connecticut again, I will try those. Getting there: It is easiest to drive here, but there is a Derby-Shelton Metro North train nearby and you can get an Uber from that station to the hotel. Pros: - large and spacious rooms - affordable - hot buffet breakfast - all Hyatt's have express check-in and check-out, and I took advantage of the express check-out (very seamless) - the location although in a semi-remote part of Connecticut, was surrounded by a lot of restaurants (but not stores) - there is a business center available for use, and it allows for printing and internet use - you can request to borrow items from the hotel like Beats Headphones and games for the children - there is a gym and swimming pool (open from about 6 am - 10 pm - there is a coin operated laundry in the hotel - staff were incredibly nice - quiet hours begin at 9 pm and last until 8 pm, which are pros for some and cons for others Cons: - the hotel promised an omelet bar and we did not receive that. The breakfast was less than stellar and not pleasing. - the free WiFi was so weak - my deadbolt lock in my room did not work - hardly any toiletries were provided initially (we had to inquire for more) - the hotel bar only stayed open between 5 and 10 pm read more

This place has the potential to be 5 stars, but it didn't happen. Amanda at check in was superb. Room was clean and comfortable. I understand changes had to be done with the Covid crisis, but no one told me I needed to literally make "arrangements " to have my room cleaned and towels changed. I was there for 3 nights and had to reuse everything...and although the prices were reasonable...it you aren't going to give me full service, don't charge me. They did allow me late checkout that I greatly appreciated. Tried to use the pool but the 8 kids and single adult (who could care less about what was happening) were soooo loud I couldn't hear myself think never mind trying to talk to the person next to me. I lasted 10 min and left. Someone other than me should have taken control. Breakfast is non existent...don't even offer (hard boiled egg, string cheese and an apple???) not what I was expecting. NOT a non-smoking hotel. This appears to be a basic motel. It's well-maintained, but not as nice as the photos. The halls/rooms smell like old smoke and air deodorizer... not strong, but noticeable. It doesn't appear to use ozone to get rid of the smoke smell because it was noticeable. It was hard to breath when lying in bed. In the evening and morning the cigarette smoke was horrendous. I complained to the desk and they said they'd look into it. The smoke continued and I had to use my rescue inhaler one morning when it was exceptionally bad. An Emergency squad was also called for one room, but did not leave with anyone so I'm guessing it was a respiratory emergency and administered O2 and/or epi and the people opted to leave. I called the desk again and asked if they had found who was smoking and asked them to stop or fined them, but they said they only had the housekeeping staff freshen up a bit (with the spray). I explained that the spray doesn't remove the smoke and just adds another chemical to the air. No discount on the room for the false advertising as non-smoking was offered. They do NOT enforce the non-smoking hotel policy, but they'll spray air fresheners. They have a skeleton crew working so no one is available to bring anything to the room. This is just a basic motel and NOT smoke free. read more

buckle up cuz this is a long one. we booked a room here about 2 weeks ago, we called about a late checkin, we gave our name and was told that a late checkin would be fine. when we showed up, we were greeted by a man who spoke to us as though he didn't even work there, cursing and using language like we were besties. we were then told that we had already checked in (which we hadn't). so we were given a key but when we got up to the room the tv was on and someone was in there. when we went back downstairs, we were greeted with a lot more cursing than before as he now had to sort this issue out and they were sold out for the night. after a million and one excuses as to how "the system" messed up the reservations, we were told there was a room for us but as he was giving us the key to that room, the person who was SUPPOSED to be in that room showed up. we got so lucky and the other guest was so so nice and let us keep the room, but if that wasn't the case, we wouldn't have had a room. breakfast the next day was mediocre at best, so sad to say. but yeah don't stay here. the room was okay i guess but it could have been a hair cleaner. good luck read more

Im all about having a good time with my family and good weekend hangouts . This hotel is terrible from customer service , from the greeting to the exit . I was here for the weekend with my girlfriend and it was trouble everywhere . In the morning breakfast is provided is WET brown lunch bags , the T.V doesnt work so dont bother trying that , since the bag of snacks wasn't enough for 2 your forced to leave . Then to make things worse as i make a reservation to get into the pool for 10 oclock . I get there and its has max capacity of 12 people in the pool there was 15 in the pool and 3 more outside. So i waited out by the spa area waiting to the pool get less crowded then some man come in saids times up when i put my feet in in empty pool now after everyone left he saids you cant go in "make another reservation for 11" i told them it was impossible to get into that crowded pool especially during these COVID-19 days you got to be safe he didnt care he said said make another reservation ofcourse it was taken . Then to make things worse they give you these cards that are your keys i had to go downstairs everytime to open my room because my key didnt work . Terrible hotel . Terrible atmosphere. Terrible customer service . I alway leave positive feedback and the only thing i can say is nice gardening outside . But as soon as you walk in terrible service . Hyatt House is quickly becoming my favorite hotel in my daily travels. I'm an engineer for a large aerospace company and I travel often. When you stay at a high priced hotel extras usually cost....extra. When you stay here most of what you'll pay extra for is included. Feeling like your at an apartment rather than a hotel is actually a comforting feeling when away from home. This Hyatt House was just like others I've been to. Clean, quiet and modern. Love the free morning breakfast and the fact you can cook in your room with the included kitchen. The price is usually darn good compared to other big brand hotels. I'd recommend this Hyatt House and others to the weary solo traveler and family travelers alike! read more

This is an extended-stay type of hotel in a town that exists for... we couldn't figure out why. But this seems to be the spot where all the guests stay for weddings up at The Waterview, which is the local wedding factory. In all, this hotel is pretty decent. The rooms are large, suite-style rooms. They have a pool and jacuzzi. There's a fitness center. And they have a small bar that's open from 5-10pm (open later by request of wedding parties). When we stayed here there were a sum total of three wedding parties at this hotel, so it was a bit of a shit-show at night time. Revelers packing the bar area, wasted bros running around, some loud in-room parties that (cough cough) we were definitely not involved in, and at times a completely overwhelmed staff. However they were mostly nice, and that's good. Our room was large and overlooked a nice green area, so that was cool. It did have some sort of stale wet funk to it, like that sour smell you get from a wet towel, or a musty basement smell. But it wasn't so overpowering as to make our weekend here horrible. Just noticeable. However on the upside, the rooms do have mini kitchens, full fridges, etc. So it would be a solid spot for an extended stay if you have a reason to stay here for an extended period. Overall a decent, serviceable hotel with some nice styling. read more

I have been at this hotel almost a week now and I can truly tell you I am unhappy. When you first walk in the front desk just looks at you they don't say hi or welcome to the Hyatt. To me this is not very hospitable. The breakfast area is dark and is set up restaurant buffet style I feel like you can't meet other new people. The breakfast workers also don't say hi or smile as well as night when the bar is open there really is no communication. The rooms are quite big and have a kitchen. For me as a teen it's not suitable. For a business trip maybe there's a bar and it's always packed. read more

Pool was good enough for a quick swim . I booked it on Expedia for a great price . This is my second time staying here .
