The staff were incredibly helpful at check-in and suggested where I should park based on my room's location. I did have some difficulties finding the location, even with GPS, as you can't easily see it from the road. You basically drive through a bank parking lot and it's tucked behind it. There are SO MANY RESTAURANTS nearby to choose from. I honestly don't know what Somerset's about (is it a college town? Something with horses? State capitol?) to need all these restaurants, but I was thankful they were here. It was just a town I was driving through on my way somewhere else. Staff were great, room was ideal, I was spoiled with dining choices, and the morning breakfast bar was perfect. Couldn't ask for anything better.

I was told that it would automatically populate after making the reservation. I thought I would wing it this time, not write any confirmation down and see what would happen when I reached Somerset. I reach the hotel to check in and they have me on file! Yay! Everything was smooth there. Then, I go to my King bed room and the only issue I have found was the thermostat for the heat pump. There are two bottoms on the bottom and an up and down arrow on the right hand side. From left to the right, the bottom buttons are for fan control and the heating and cooling options (those work fine). It was the arrow buttons that were the nuisance. I had to press them so many time just to get the desired temperature. I am thinking this will need to be replaced soon. At first, I thought the room was going to stay on 69 cold and I was like, "OMG!!" (Right now in Kentucky, it is like super humid and hot outside (even at like 3 a.m. in the morning) and so I need really cool temperatures. My house is at 66 (but that is mostly to keep the centipedes from running amok, they hate cold temperatures).

I did have a little trouble finding the hotel. It's not on the main road, it's set back a few hundred feet, far enough that it's location is not obvious. You have to turn onto this little street that takes you to it. Other than that, the location was convenient to lots of restaurants and things and we enjoyed the pool. The pool was a bit small, and 3 ft deep at one end and 5 feet deep at the other, but it was inside, which was nice. There's towels you can use at the pool so you dont have to bring one from your room. Also, the parking lot was a bit wonky - dont know why its laid out the way it is. Overall though, I would recommend this place and would stay here again.

So it turns out there is a sideways parking spot RIGHT outside our window along the WALL. If I could have opened the window I could have touched their driver window it was that close!!! Then this morning EARLY we had doors slamming & loud talking on a truck parked in the spot! This couple were hanging out and smoking... and they gave me a dirty look when I open the curtains to see what was there, like we were infringing upon their privacy! We stayed bc we were working open-close the past 3 nights and it was so much easier to get to work and to sleep instead of driving 30+ minutes to and from home. So of course, we had Lucy. We were told a $50 cash deposit. No problem. Checking out this morning, we were told we would not get our deposit back for PET HAIR in a pet friendly hotel. He told my husband "I can't wash the sheet because of the pet hair." So my husband grabbed the $50 sheet and said okay. The front desk man said "I'm going to call the law are you crazy you can't take that!" And THEN said "I know where you work. I'll find you there." Upon reading other reviews, I seen that they were charging people $20, $40, $50, $100 deposits. So what I'm gathering is, they'll charge you a made up deposit amount and then reach for some kind of excuse to keep that deposit. One said, "I didn't get my deposit back because of make up on a face towel." I know $50 isn't a lot of money, but it's still $50. Pet hair in a pet friendly motel. Who woulda thought?

So, of course, it won't be the best hotel ever. I get that, but this place seems so run down. First and foremost, it seems that someone had busted our door in and broke the frame. So, I did not feel safe at all. (If the staff is reading this, PLEASE fix any doors that are broken like this. Our door didn't even close fully). Our curtain wouldn't close without pulling so hard you think you're going to rip it down. Three of our four lamps did not work. The toilet was temperamental and did NOT want to flush, and the shower wouldn't drain. There were cracks everywhere in the bathroom, and nothing seemed clean. I thought I would be fine walking barefoot from the bed to the toilet, but that ended up turning the bottom of my feet black. Go figure. There are a few nice things here, though! I can't say it's all awful. The front desk staff are polite, so sorry if this review hurts you. You were great. The pool and hot tub were relaxing. The pillows were nice, and we had a tv with plenty of channels. There was free wi-fi, our room had a nice color scheme, there's a microwave and refrigerator, and the air conditioner kept the room cool.
