The staff at this hotel really were the stars and made the experience staying here great. The front desk said hello to us and made sure we did well from our adventures in the hot sun. The food for breakfast was delicious. There was a different waffle mix everyday along with the regular. The room was clean and all other parts of the building well well maintained. The bed was also impressive in size. It felt like a bigger king than the standard and we could fit 3 comfortably. Short walk from Capitol One Arena which is why we booked. Valet only which worked out for our plans otherwise we usually would find self parking somewhere else. It's downtown, it's busy, it's noisy. Tenth floor and you hear everything! Obviously no or very little sound proof. For one night it worked. Did I mention the elevator went down? Both. Had to walk down and up 10 flights after 10pm. New Yorker is rating this hotel. Convenient location. If you come from Union station, take a bus 33. Mini fridge and microwave set up in the room. There're 7eleven, pizza store and others are around the corner. When you go out, make a right, you see the AC hotel before that, before you hit there, just make a right...you'll see it. It's less than a block from the hotel. It made like a tiny town. I also attached extended photos. Took 3 star the front desk don't pick up the phone. (Lucky, if someone answers) , front desk and elevator are very slow. Too many customers and each fl stop.....so, in case, take the lower level to stay. You can use the stairs. If you are coming here for the slow vacation yes. More of that, morning service is good but some customers don't clean the table for the next ppl and very judgement vibes bring. It was pretty crowded. Many ppl were selfish to eat... ah it's disappointing! While I'm staying here, I was told that only one cleaning lady so, it will take time but it took 2 hrs to add amenities. :( I personally avoid staying at this hotel, it's such super slow services and makes me frustrated! My stay here was excellent from start to finish. The check-in process was seamless and stress-free. The front desk clerks were AMAZING--especially Mike, who went above and beyond every single day. He gave me tips on the closest stores, where to order food, and the best ways to get around the city. I work in Customer Service myself, so I really appreciate great service when I see it. When I arrived, drenched in sweat from the humidity, Mike even offered me water without me asking--that small gesture really stood out. Throughout my stay, he was consistently gracious, attentive, and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was a perfect way to start the day, with plenty of options to charge up before heading out. The women working the breakfast area were just as kind and helpful--they kept everything stocked and clean with a smile. (They really appreciate it if you slide them a couple dollars after you eat!) My room was a King non-smoking, and it was spotless, spacious, and comfortable. The AC worked perfectly, and the bed was very comfy--exactly what I needed after long days exploring the city. The location was also very convenient. I took public transportation from the airport and was dropped off just a block and a half from the hotel via subway. Getting around the city from here was super easy. There's even a bike and scooter rental pickup half a block away. For quick essentials, there's a 7-Eleven around the corner, plus a liquor store nearby. Overall, I had a wonderful experience here and would definitely return on my next trip. read more

What's great about this hotel? Excellent downtown DC location with free breakfast every day! In addition to being walking distance to the convention center, it has perfect access to dozens of area restaurants, shops, and downtown venues. Plus, it is within 1 mile of Union Station, which is especially nice for incoming train travelers. Also, Ms. Antione at the reception desk is quite helpful! Not only does she check you in with a smile, but she takes great care in explaining the various hotel amenities and related services. With this hotel having such high volume foot traffic among the guests, it is amazing how well Ms. Antione and the entire front desk team are able to triage and provide great customer service to all. It is clear that Ms. Antione takes great pride in her work! Five (5) stars for this portion of the review. Opportunities to improve at this hotel? The air-conditioning unit is very loud for such a compact unit. I stayed in two different rooms this month at the hotel - room numbers 716 and 1221, and my experience is the same even in different rooms with regard to the air-conditioning units. On another note, the staff who services the breakfast area is slow on food service such as -- replacing empty pans, refilling waffle batter, cleaning food service areas between replenishments, and cleaning tables and clearing plates for departed guests. Three (3) stars for this portion of the review. Overall, this hotel has an average of a four star rating in my view. The gent who checked us in was friendly & freely offered tips for our first time stay. He also marked us as stay-throughs, so we wouldn't have to check out & back in - we just had to go reactivate our room card the next day. The additional night was at a significantly higher price, but that's my own fault for not booking it when it was deeply discounted. We had breakfast our first day, before heading to the museums - then opted for trying out some nearby restaurants for the rest of the stay. The breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast & the coffee was rough. It didn't cost extra to add breakfast. The room was more spacious than we anticipated and it was clean. Our bed was comfortable. We were happy with the location. Our interactions with staff and housekeeping were all great. The rideshare to/from DCA was about $25ttl. We'd stay here again. read more

Great hotel in the Mount Vernon Triangle of DC. Located near Chinatown and literally everything else, the Hampton also offers free hot breakfast and amenities. There is a pool on the 2nd floor, small fitness room and laundry room for guests. There is a liquor store and Seven-Eleven convenience store maybe 3-5 mins walking distance from the hotel. Go out the front entrance, make a right, continue up the street and turn right again at the corner. Very convenient for late night beer and cigarette runs. The staff was nice and the night auditor John was was particularly accommodating and helpful in answering questions about the city. Clean hotel with nice views, good custoner service, convenient location to local attractions, monuments, reataurants and shopping. I would stay here again in a hearbeat! read more

To be honest - I'm not sure here. Usually I stay at the Navy Yard Hampton Inn, and after staying here - that will continue to be my main place. Several issues: (1) 4PM checkin - which they don't adhere to. Wut? So we had to change rooms bc the one I chose? wasn't cleaned yet. So why have a 4PM checkin if it's not going to be held to? (2) Room thermostat was broke - or shut off. It was 80° in the room. So I cranked the window unit to 60° and prayed to God things would cool off soon. Even waking up with the AC humming full tilt I was sweating (3) Mask mandate wall to wall. Why did we get vaccinated if we still have to wear masks? Remember when the President said vaxxed folks didn't have to wear a mask "period"? Me too. (4) Have to wear gloves in breakfast area - lol. I mean what are we doing here? Joke. Stayed here for 3 nights on Independence day long weekend. Not too pricey, got it for a good deal from Priceline.com. There valet parking is very expensive, you end up paying $60 per day, rather there is a parking deck across the street which charges only @20 per day which might be a great deal. All staff and guests were required to were mask. I liked at breakfast how you had to put on plastic gloves before serving yourself. They serve breakfast from 6 AM to 10 AM. The kitchen staff were were very accommodative. You had to have a hotel room key to use elevators, which is nice security measure for street loiterers. Hotel is in the middle of the city, I would stay again and recommend this location by Hampton by Hilton to anyone. This modern hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and a 7-minute walk from the Gallery Place Chinatown metro station. Polished rooms include free Wi-Fi and custom-designed beds, plus both full and lap desks for working on the bed, and a flat-screen TV. They also have minifridges, microwaves and coffeemakers. Suites add living areas and also have a pull-out sofas. Free perks include hot breakfast and weekday breakfast bags to go. There's also a fitness room, plus a bar serving appetizers, salads and sandwiches. Additional amenities include a meeting room and a business center. We were detoured here after our flight was canceled. The front desk coped well with tens of unexpected guests at midnight! Apparently, the GM had decided not to accept reservations, so there was only one person on duty. Then the hotel accepted tens of pax. The bartender handed out water and got most people laughing. A restroom key was passed around. For late night guests, please provide decaf coffee, decaf tea, or another hot drink. read more

Decent hotel centrally located but some of the amenities advertised were not offered. On site restaurant and bar were closed. Breakfast buffet was a bit light and they comically requested you to wear gloves while serving yourself. Room was clean and large. Most excellent stay! A group of six of us came in about 11am on a Friday morning, ready to drop off our bags to go exploring. We were delightfully surprised to be offered an early check-in. The location is convenient to a Metro station in China Town, smack in the middle of restaurants, bars, music, parks. The hotel is super clean. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast is better than most I've run across, serving turkey sausage, eggs, french toast sticks, many pastries, a few cereal options, oatmeal with toppings, yogurt and fresh fruit. They also have premade smoothies. The breakfast attendant kept everything going, I never saw anything empty. The ONLY reason I'm giving less than 5 stars is because the temperature in the room could not be easily regulated. It was either freezing cold or swealtering hot. During the day we turned it up while we were out. At night, before bed, we turned it to cooler, which was high AC. I probably could have mentioned it to the front desk, but by the time we got down from the 12th floor, meeting friends, I really forgot.about it. At the end if the day, we were too tires to complain. We dealt with it, so it obviously was not too bad. Bottom line, I'd definitely stay here again on another trip to DC. read more

Enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The hotel is older, but one can clearly tell that it is well kept and has been renovated. Actually, during my stay renovations were still in progress. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room and hotel was clean. I had to take pictures of the lines on the sofa and stool. I am not sure if they vacuum, steam clean or whatever, but any attempt to clean the sofa is highly regarded in my book. I've seen my share of nasty hotel sofas, it was a relief to find a place that adds these furniture pieces to the cleaning routine. Breakfast is typical Hampton Inn style, waffles galore and eggs, meat and french toast. There was also fresh fruit (including apples and bananas). I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. FYI: Laundry is $1.75 to wash and dry each. No self parking, valet only. Elevator requires room key to access your floor. read more

We stayed here for 3 days. The king "suite" was adequate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, we came during a snow storm and the eco friendly thermostat could not go above 69 to 71 degrees. 69 at night since it did not detect any motion. We were always cold. I am Silver member. I always stay at a Hampton and it's usually a good experience but not this time. I don't know if they were doing construction or something because the front desk was at a low card table. I also understand that people have bad days but the staff was not the usual friendly and helpful staff I am used to at Hampton Inns. The amenities were also dirty and carpet was torn in spots all over the hotel. I was afraid to put my skin on the bed sheets. And my tv remote didn't work. I know it's only one experience but it will give me pause when booking Hamptons in the future. read more

Non smoking room smelled of cigarettes. Stains on the hotel room floor. Walls are paper thin, can hear the guests on all sides. Bedding is uncomfortable and the heat worked inconsistently throughout the night. There was some sort of altercation at the hotel in the morning we were checking out. Police blocked off the exit and we had to wait an hour to get our car from valet. The only positives of this hotel are friendly staff and close proximity to capital one arena. Stayed here for a night, for an expo at the convention center. The Convention Center is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I was able to leave my bags with the front desk for a few hours before I actually checked in. Breakfast every morning. Free. Good options but your basic eggs, sausage/bacon, cereals, yogurt, waffles etc. They even had Smoothies to choose from (YUM). There is a bar that opens at 5pm. All of your liquor needs and a small selection of food to order. There is also happy hour. The bartender was amazing! Some friends and I came back here around 11PM and the bartender let me play music of my choice to the area lol There is no restaurant to have food delivered to your room here. I received a pretty outdated room (in the front of the hotel). By 8am I was awaken by the standard street traffic/ cars. Bed was comfy. Basic amenities. Would be a good place to "crash" for a night, but not for the price I paid even thru my company ($280 something on a Thursday night). Sketchy part of town - it is ok during the day, but a lot of panhandling and homeless at night. I felt very uncomfortable going outside after 7pm. We checked in for 7 nights. Front desk staff is rude - especially the bigger African American man. When I asked for a couple bottles of water, I was told "you can buy water" at their little snack store in the hotel - even though they give 2 bottles per room at check in. It's not like we only stayed 1 night!! Plus they charge $100/night for a security deposit - which isn't a big deal except it was $700!!! I wish I would've paid more to stay closer to the sights. My fiancé and I stayed at the Hampton Inn - Washington Downtown Convention Center for 5 nights and had a great stay! As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted by Christina, who is a perfect example of how customer service should be! She is personable, professional and overall, excellent! Definitely a great face for Hampton Inn. We instantly felt welcomed upon arrival. If you're traveling DC by foot, the hotel is a ~20-25 minute walk from the National Mall, and 5-10 minutes to Chinatown (and the Chinatown metro). There are a lot of neighboring restaurants around the area if you're looking to dine out. The Verizon Center is also within walking distance if you're in town for an event. Breakfast is served every morning. From cereal, oatmeal, waffles, and sausage. There's a selection for just about everyone. Coffee is always out in the lobby, and cookies are served at 5PM daily. Our overall stay was pleasant. The room was always clean. The staff was always willing to answer any question, and make sure everyone was enjoying their stay. The Wi-Fi signal is my only complaint. They don't have room service unless you stay for over three days, and the rooms are very worn down. Also they UPCHARGE AND CHEAT YOU ON YOUR CARD so please make sure to check your credit card charges after you stay here!!!!! This hotel was a case study in managerial incompetence. If customer service and care is something that matters to you, I highly advise you look elsewhere when planning a visit to DC. When my family went to check in for our reservation (which we had booked months in advance), we were told that our room was unavailable due to "flooding" caused by a previous guest. Whether there was actually any flooding at all, or whether the hotel simply overbooked its rooms and found itself needing to relocate us to cover its mistake, I can not verify. Either way, the problems started as soon as we walked through the doors. We received NO notice or warning that we would need to be relocated; we were not called or texted ahead of time letting us know that we would have to be moved. Even an email would have been appreciated. Instead, we first learned of the situation when we entered the hotel. Fine. It gets worse - after being told that we would need to relocate, we were given a google maps printout to the new hotel; the Hampton, however, had neglected to remove the timestamp, so we saw that the map had been printed out approximately 6 hours earlier that day. In other words, the hotel had almost a quarter of the day to notify us of this known problem, and they did not do so. The map purported to direct us to a replacement hotel that the Hampton had booked for us, which was (as we were told by the Hampton's management) a "quick walk" away (this is verbatim). As it turns out, the new hotel was 0.9 miles further, which, if you've ever had to carry luggage through the DC summer, was not a particularly pleasant experience. The Hampton did not in any way offer to assist in transportation for the relocation that was foisted upon us. When we got to the new hotel, we were even more frustrated to learn that our reservation had been miscommunicated. We had specifically reserved two queen beds; the new hotel told us that, at the direction of the Hampton, they could only provide us a single king bed. As most people will know, there is a massive difference in these accommodations. The next day, when we returned to the Hampton to voice our concerns, we spoke with Brandon Perry (who I think was an assistant manager), who told us that we would not be obligated to pay for the hotel room; we took this as a concession of apology for the various problems caused by the Hampton, and left somewhat mollified (as we interpreted Perry's apology to mean that the Hampton would be covering the cost of the new hotel for us - despite the inconveniences and poor communication by the Hampton, if they paid for the new hotel room, I think they would have at least done right by us, the visitors they so badly inconvenienced). Imagine our surprise, then, when we found a charge for the new hotel on our credit balance shortly after returning home from our trip to DC. As it turns out, Perry had apparently meant to convey that we would not be on the hook to pay for our original reservation at the Hampton. This was one of the biggest no-shit moments I have ever experienced. It would be like having a doctor's appointment, but the doctor sends you to a different doctor a mile away; but don't worry! It's all ok, because you won't have to pay the doctor YOU NEVER GOT TO SEE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Sheesh. I don't purport to claim that my family's experience here is indicative of the hotel as a whole, but I hope that I can at least provide some precaution to others who may be considering staying at the DC Convention Center Hampton Inn. Their customer service was simply atrocious on so many levels, and it really marred what should have been a fun and exciting time in our nation's great capital. read more

This hotel was in a really convenient location for sight seeing if you are walking and at a great price. The staff was extremely friendly. The only issue was the water. It never got hot. It ran for over 40 minutes total time and never got hot. Maintenance came up and played with it as well as the maids and another group of people who kept asking the silly question of "did you let it run for a bit?" It was less than Luke warm which made the showers a bit miserable after a 15 hour flight. The next morning was the same thing with the exception that the water pressure was extremely low and the water came out Grey. read more

I've stayed in Hilton properties all over the country and you are hard-pressed to find a better value than this Hampton Inn. I've been working with the staff on an event and they have all been phenomenal - extremely friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable (several staff members live right in the neighborhood). The rooms are very spacious and modern for a city property and the hotel is clean. You are in a fantastic location a few blocks from the Verizon Center, metro, Convention Center, City Center Shopping and surrounded by man great restaurants. The price is very reasonable and the added bonus of a continental breakfast does not hurt. Overall, excellent service, location, and a true value for what you pay. read more

I was in town a couple of weeks ago for a concert and we ended up staying here. I've had mixed results with Hampton Inn's in other locations before however they did a great job here. I selected this location primarily because it was extremely close to the Verizon Center (about 2-3 blocks) and they have an underground parking garage for the car. I was able to get a rate with parking included and if you've ever parked in DC you know daily parking is going to run you a minimum of about $40 or more a day. All in all the hotel was great. We were up on the 10th floor away from all the street noise. The room was also comfortable and there was decent hotel internet to boot. It wasn't fast, but it was dependable.
