I had no idea this place existed until today. So many hidden gems in Kerrisdale. Parking is available on the streets for 1-2h. I did see a ticket guy doing the rounds here twice, so it looks like they really do enforce the rules. Be careful. The inside is trendy and modern. My 1st thought was "this place looks like Burnaby Palace". Yes, this really does feel upscale. The staff here speak English well. You can tell they have a lot of Western customers. Not a bad thing, but when I spoke Chinese to them, I was surprised that they would reply in English. As for the food, it was delicious and reasonably priced. You can get a congee + turnip cake combo for $7. It's about $1 more than Richmond, but they don't break the bank. Beef brisket noodle - one of the better (aka not dry) briskets for sure. The noodles were nice and springy. Thousand year egg congee - nice and hot, with generous chunks of egg. Turnip cake - the cake itself was pretty plain (it could use more fillings), but the sweet soy sauce they used really helped. One last thing: they accept credit cards for orders over $20. I will be back to try some of their other dishes. Recommended.

Terrible service. Greasy food. Expensive. Example $25 for steamed broccoli. Owner is a real piece of work. Rudest racists old lady.

Amazing food, and it's always ready early when I call ahead to pick up. Friendly service, just a little on the expensive side.

If I've got a hankerin' for Canto food on the west side, it's good to know that this place can serve it up.

Best authentic food we have ever tasted! Very helpful…read moreservers creating an unforgettable experience! Don't expect a traditional North American sit down romantic dining room experience. The restaurant is very busy and face paced! Food comes out quickly, but no pressure to eat and leave. Staff are genuine and want you to enjoy the authentic food and experience! Pheona was helpful and made it even more fun! It exceeded our expectations! We would definitely eat here again when we are in Vancouver!

How did I not know about Chinatown BBQ until now?!…read more I've found my new holy grail because this is hands-down the best BBQ duck and BBQ pork I have ever had! We started with a plate of the BBQ Duck, and it was absolute perfection--packed with so much lean, incredibly flavorful meat. Then we ordered the Signature Four Treasures Chef's Plate on Steamed Rice. Talk about a masterpiece! It comes with BBQ Pork, Soy Sauce Chicken, Roasted Pork, and half a Salty Duck Egg. Honestly, every single element was so delicious that I genuinely couldn't pick a favorite. To top off an already amazing meal, their black lychee tea was out of this world. I loved it so much I actually asked if I could buy some to take home! They don't retail it, but the staff was so sweet and told me, "You can drink as much as you like here." Challenge absolutely accepted! The staff kept it perfectly topped up the entire time. Excellent food, wonderful service, and all the cozy, classic vibes. More cha cha cha please! I will definitely be back.

All I can say is that everything at this restaurant was on point…read more Unfortunately, there was horrible traffic (due to the Marathon closures), and we were 1/2 hour late! But the wonderful hostess accommodated us, and I am so glad that she did! I cannot remember everything that we ate, but I know we got pork belly, dumplings, and duck rice cakes. OMG - everything was perfectly and authentically prepared! The wait staff was wonderful and so helpful with ordering and suggestions for eating. What a wonderful experience! We cannot wait to go back to Vancouver and eat at Bao Bei AGAIN!!

They have a selection of snacks and small plates.tapas style and meant for sharing. We ordered a couple of item, they came one by one about 10 minutes apart. The dishes would have tasted so much better if they had came all together. The kitchen couldn't keep up with all the orders. We sat right front of the kitchen where you can see through. The dishes were coming out very slowly. Mautou The short ribs were overcooked and kinda tough to chew. The daikon radish on it was delicious. The plate was sitting for a while so it was not very hot when we got it Dumpling Steamed prawn and scallop dumpling. It was nice and hot. Filling was very good. The wrapper was horrible, it tastes like the cheap super market kind. Sablefish Delicious. Very soft . Didn't feel very Asian . More French style Pea shots Highly recommend by the server. The vegetables was very old and half of it was tough to chew. The tips were edible. It was also sitting for a while before we received it. It was not hot. Came here for a Chinese wedding reception and the whole place was reserved for us…read more The food was a set menu and everything on it was yummy and well prepared. I like the way they portioned it and served each of us. They did not skimp out on the ingredients, such as if they say whole abalone, it really is. They definitely served the best seafood. The dessert also was amazing with the brown sugar cake and tapioca pudding. The only reason 1 star was missing was that parking was not that easy and service was mostly good. At times, some staff were not was attentive such as: they took the chopsticks away, but you still needed them. Still, Kirin is solid for it's dim sum and seafood!

As a high end restaurant, the food quality was below average. However, what truly disappointed me was the poor service. Even though the restaurant was not busy, the dishes were served very slowly. The first 2 dishes came out fast, but the later 2 dishes came out after 45 min. When we asked for additional rice and water, we had to wait an unusually long time. Throughout the meal, we felt neglected. It was hard not to feel that the level of service was noticeably indifferent, possibly because we did not order any high-priced seafood or premium dishes. For a restaurant at this price point, the service was simply unacceptable. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I would not return and would not recommend it.
