The restaurant is located on the west side. We decided to pick up food here and have it back home. We got several dishes: 1) Beef and rice noodles 2) Onion and green onion stirfried beef 3) Beef curry 4) tofu, chicken seafood pot 5) chicken eggplant All dishes were very tasty. Ingredients that they used were fresh. Portion size were pretty good compared to many restaurants. My parents have done pickup to go many times from here. First off imanagement changed sometime in 2025 so the place is now called Li's. A nice family has bought it. I didnt have a menu so couldnt order by number but with a little patience and good humour i was able to correctly order pork fried rice, black bean chicken, beef&brocoli and hot and sour soup. This Chinese restaurant is located on west 41st avenue. It isn't a big place, the food is on the pricier side, but it is quality and the portions enough for two to three people. There is also free parking at the park just around the corner. I really enjoyed the soup of the day which was comforting. Four of us ate at this restaurant on July 1. We ordered a 3pound lobster. The life lobster shown to us looked like a 3pounder. But when the finished dish came out by real surprise as a less than 2 pounder. I questioned the owner and he agreed to cut the price by 1/4 pound which I felt like a real ripoff. I have eaten in many restaurants that a 2 pound lobster should have a lot more meat than this. Very disappointed and will never go back there again and I'll let all my friends know about this. I had no idea this place existed until today. So many hidden gems in Kerrisdale. Parking is available on the streets for 1-2h. I did see a ticket guy doing the rounds here twice, so it looks like they really do enforce the rules. Be careful. The inside is trendy and modern. My 1st thought was "this place looks like Burnaby Palace". Yes, this really does feel upscale. The staff here speak English well. You can tell they have a lot of Western customers. Not a bad thing, but when I spoke Chinese to them, I was surprised that they would reply in English. As for the food, it was delicious and reasonably priced. You can get a congee + turnip cake combo for $7. It's about $1 more than Richmond, but they don't break the bank. Beef brisket noodle - one of the better (aka not dry) briskets for sure. The noodles were nice and springy. Thousand year egg congee - nice and hot, with generous chunks of egg. Turnip cake - the cake itself was pretty plain (it could use more fillings), but the sweet soy sauce they used really helped. One last thing: they accept credit cards for orders over $20. I was craving chinese congee and searching in yelp to see any good chinese congee nearby. I found Lok's Chinese was rated by 7 ppl for 4-star and just gave it a try for lunch. It looks pretty new interior and clean. The starffs are welcoming and attentive. We had congee combo and extra chinese donuts for lunch, it was below average. HK boat style congee - it's quite tasty = MSG Preserved duck egg and lean pork congee - It's ok and same so MSG. Pan fried radish cake - so blended Pan friend rice rolls - It's decilious, pretty good as dim sim places. Chinese donuts - was chopped in small pieces and so dry after it re-heated. Beside, they are clean and good service. I have NO reason for return for food. read more

West of Arbutus is pretty tough to find *authentic* Cantonese food. Sure you can find Canto food on the west side, but pretty much all of it is disgusting or bastardized, with the exception of this place. I had take out. It's a smaller restaurant. Things I noticed: 1. It's a little more upscale than most east side eateries of the same caliber. 2. Prices were reasonable. 3. There were actual Chinese people in there and not just westerners. 4. The smell of the place was similar to an east side eatery (bonus point for authenticity here) Foodwise, not bad at all, although you can't really go wrong with chicken chow mein, fried rice, and BBQ duck on rice. If I've got a hankerin' for Canto food on the west side, it's good to know that this place can serve it up. read more

Whenever I visit Vancouver we always go here, it's our favourite Cantonese family spot. Every time we've been it's always packed with families. The staff are so friendly and welcoming! Parking is easy to find along Kerrisdale. For special occasions and when it's in season, the King Crab is amazing. Highly overpriced; literally! Because the menu online's not updated forever. I thought I ordered something around $75 but instead of confirming with me on the phone, the bill showed up at around $92........ The receptionist was pretty grumpy. The food then turned out to be frustrating. The potion of the Peking Duck was highly limited. The green onion was not chopped; neither was the cucumber. Then the seafood chowmein was basically not stir fried at all..... it's not undercooked but the method's all wrong. The beef brisk and tender stew was good but still short on potion. I'm probably being tougher on them being Chinese, but from all the hype, I would even say that this even hurts them more. I expected much better from the XLB & their Shanghainese thick noodles but were greasy as heck. Lunch time is their bread and butter, get in early but they do move fast. Probably a 3-star if you're really in the mood. Decor-wise, it's not screaming trendy or fine dining but I wouldn't call it clean even on a good day. Great place to watch generations of Chinese families congregate for a family meal. The service is excellent. I'd suggest to have a friend or family member that understands Chinese fluently to go with you. This way, you can know what you are ordering. The steamed crab on sticky rice was by far the best dish at Lok's. The silken tofu dish with egg and scallops was also amazing. For dessert, the fresh mango pudding made with real mango pulp could use less sugar, but it is still yummy. read more

Since moving to Kerrisdale, I've searched for a good Chinese restaurant for take out. I've tried a couple others and been left wanting. Lok's is pretty damn good. They serve some "Canadian" Chinese if that is what you're looking for but they also feature a large variety of tasty authentic Cantonese dishes. Ample portions, great flavour and no grease! Prices are reasonable, speed of service is great! The restaurant itself is charming and features traditional tables for large parties. The staff are super friendly and presentable. My only complaint is that they don't accept debit for delivery orders but that doesn't reflect on their food or service. 5/5 read more

The dinner was good. My mom and I ordered yee mein (flat egg noodle), beef with some black fungus (no. 19...I know it sounds bad but it's something that grows on trees), and egg with bittermelon and crabmeat. $30 total with free dessert and lots of leftovers. Waiter was nice and helpful. For lunch, we usually stick to the set meal which gives you a large bowl of congee with optional ingredients, noodles and a couple of side dishes. Once, we strayed off the menu and ordered a plate of veggies. Boy, were we surprised when we got the bill. Either check the price first or stick to the set meals. That set lunch fed 6 of us and that plate of veggies was half the cost of the set lunch! Downside: bad, awful wontons and acoustics suck....I think they don't make the wontons themselves. So if in doubt, ask if they make it in the kitchen. read more

I have only experienced the friendliest of service here. I always get the same server and she never fails to remember my order (even though I only go once every couple months). You have to know what to order here, and it helps if you speak Chinese. I am not a good order-er in general, and I never know what Cantonese dishes are the best, but I've been lucky with all the soups. House soup always hits the spot. Hot and sour soup is good too. I've only been for lunch and dinner, but I believe they have dim sum on weekends. Food items overpriced by about 20% over what's fair, often way to busy to provide good service, and what threw me over the edge is that after a long day of work on New Year's Day, I called an hour ahead to order take out, and they told me it would take 45 minutes to get ready. I got there and they hurriedly said in Chinese someone took my order. When I questioned them, they got defensive and said it's just busy, they haven't got to my order yet, and I could leave if I wanted to. good food. my family and i always go there, but everytime, we have a bad experience with the attitude of the owner. Once, we ordered BBQ chicken and another dish for pick up, and she mixed up the receipt taped on the take out with another person's order. We then told her the order was wrong, but still insisted she was right and we ended up bringing the wrong order home. As we expected, when we opened the take out container, it was a completely different dish from what we ordered. We then had to walk back and show her ourselves the contents and our original order. She then did not even offer to give us a discount for her own mistake, but even had to pay for the whole order again and wait an extra 20 minutes. Such, such bad attitude. DO NOT (i repeat) DO NOT go here and expect a polite owner (she usually runs the till). A second experience was that I ordered for pick up, but decided I wanted to cancel 10 minutes later and called them. She then scolded me for cancelling my order and screamed, "I will not do you any more business," before hanging the phone up. read more

The food here is still pretty good although they are definitely trying to cater to a more upscale clientele now. I have to say I'm a little disappointed as to find a good Cantonese family restaurant is harder and harder to find in Vancouver (a weird thing to say given the size of the Hong Kong/Canton diaspora). As much as I enjoy Northern Chinese cuisine, I also grew up eating traditional Cantonese fare and it's nice to have a place where one can sit down and get their soup noodle on. Previously their lunch menus included a big selection of noodles, rice, and congee options; they are now limited to a single laminated sheet. Still tasty though. Dinner menu items are also "fancier" in presentation than before and prices have increased as well; no more is the $35 for 3 family style dishes + rice, which I can understand with inflation and the undoubtedly high Kerrisdale rents. The head server here has not changed and has always been friendly (she still recognized me from eating here with my family years ago). Probably no longer as much of a "casual" restaurant as it used to be, but restaurants have to change with the times. Lok's remains one of the few decent Chinese restaurants on the West Side, which is what keeps me coming back. read more

We used to go to this restaurant when it first opened many years ago. As it got more successful, we found the service dropped substantially. By that we mean how unfriendly they became. Many of our friends who used to patronize Lok's no longer go there either no matter how good the food may still be. That's because the owner (Irene) and her staff will go out of their way to make you feel unwelcome unless you order items off their "expensive" menu such as abalone, king crab, etc. You're simply not welcome if you want a "simple" meal. So unless you are the rich new immigrants, us old locals are no longer welcome. Instead, go to Golden Ocean up the street - way friendlier service and better food. read more

This is a ripoff restaurant. They recommend me a seafood dish off menu without mentioning the price. The bill came out at $250. When I talked to the owner, they said everyone knows this price. My brother and wanted to take my grandma and kids out for some lunch and noticed it had pretty good ratings, so thought we try it out. Bad idea, the service was the WORSE and the food was honestly average. The lunch deal may have been ok, but the older lady (who seem to maybe run it/manage/own it) was a complete b!Tc%! We already had a bad feeling when we had started ordering. She was hostile and unfriendly. Our food came out and we thought we ordered tofu with our noodles but apparently she said we didnt. And really made it a point to tell us we were "wrong and she was right," and that she had "been working here a long time and knows the menu." That if she was "wrong she would admit it cause customers are always right, but in this case not" Her voice was raised and was non stop sarcastic. There were much more words exchanged that i cant even be bothered to go in to. We found a piece of hair in our other dish and told her and said "fine i'll replace that YES, no problem.. customer is always right and we want you to be happy right? so yes we will fix that!" Im afraid its not necessary to speak to customers like that. When our food came, we could hear her at the back of the restaurant speaking poorly about us. She thought we couldnt understand Cantonese cause we ordered in English.. so my brother went back there to address her lack of custom service and that we could hear her speaking about us. The food is okay, pretty average Chinese food that you can get anywhere in Richmond. The service is not so great. A couple of the servers/waitresses are quite attentive and friendly, but the managers are quite rude and confrontational. We were there with our baby and waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, who were running late (about half an hour). The managers of the restaurant looked clearly annoyed and she came over and said "We have someone coming later, so that's why I told you to reserve earlier". I understand that you have a business to run but we were made to feel quite uncomfortable right from the start. Later when I ordered I said "I'll order first and maybe we can order more dishes later" the guy said "No you can't cause we need you to be finished by 7:15". And when my dad asked for congee he said very crossly "No congee tonight." We finished our dinner in time, but I was disappointed that they treated their customers so poorly. Solid food, delicious not greasy, large portions, reasonably priced

Tried out Lok's with a few co-workers for their lunch specials. We ordered 3 dishes to share, House Special Chow Mein, BBQ Pork & Shrimp Fried Rice and a Black Pepper Beef Fried Rice Noodle. The food showed up in a timely manner and the taste & quality of all 3 dishes were very good (i.e., the rice in the fried rice tasted very fresh). If you're a big eater, the portions may be on the slighlty smaller size but the 3 of us (all males and have the capabiltiy to eat a lot) were decently satisfied but not overly stuffed. Parking was easy to find on the side streets (even around 12:15 pm). Be aware that they have a few small tables and once they're full, you may have to share with others on a big table. The prices for their lunch specials need to be updated on their website, they've gone from $7.75 to $8.95 and from $8.25 to $9.50. If you try to do take out with their lunch specials, they tack on $2, which seems kind of strange when most chinese restaurants usually offer a discount on take out. read more
