We did not stop in Hana as advertised to "shop and help the local economy". Only to mail a postcard. No mention of Charles Lindbergh and his grave. Literally whizzed past the famous Hasgawa General Store. No pointing out the rainbow eucalyptus. Stopped near a huge Hulu Hulu chicken stand and given a dry turkey wraps. no history of Hana given. My daughter asked the meaning of a Hawaiian word and the guide told her he had already explained that. Kind of shut down anymore questions. read more

I did this tour on Friday 10/24/2025. Sean was our tour guide. As soon as I booked the tour, Sean contacted me with information regarding pick up, asked what kind of Sandwich I wanted for Lunch etc. He picked us up on time, offered water during the entire trip and off we went. Sean took the time to memorize all of our names, made us feel welcome and he new all the perfect spots for pictures/ video. He was honest in his recommendations and very knowledgeable about the land and its rich history. I was happy to not have to drive to Hana as the roads can be pretty scary. He navigated them as a pro and kept everyone engaged with his humor. They came highly recommended and I can see why. read more

I booked a private tour because I was going with my mother and my 3 sons. I wanted to be able to go at everyone's pace and stay as much or as little at each stop as we desired. It was money well spent! Our guide Charlie was so knowledgeable and fun, it just made our trip. He embodied the Aloha spirit and my sons just loved him! Generally my wife and I do not do tours like this. We enjoy being in our own and on our own time. That was until we saw how difficult the mountain roads on Maui are to drive. We found it difficult to soak in the amazing views as we swerved in and out of curves and having near misses with on coming traffic. We did this tour with low expectations and left it blown away. Damien was a incredible. His knowledge of the land around us was vast. It made us so much more knowledgeable about the Hawaiian culture. We made all the stops that we wanted to make in the first place and made it stress free as we got to soak in all the gorgeous sights. I generally don't recommend tour companies, but Hana & Beyond made our experience perfect. Don't hesitate booking a road to Hana tour with them, you won't regret it. read more

I encountered their guide Sean at a parking lot for Puaʻa Kaʻa State Wayside Park. It's a very small, very busy lot on the side of the road. I was waiting for a spot and I guess the back of my vehicle was blocking Sean's tour van from getting out of his space. He got out, had me roll down the window and immediately came at me very aggressively barking at me to move. I looked at him, shocked. I had my van full of my family and he had his van full of his customers. I simply said "you don't have to be so rude". At that moment, he was enraged. He took a step toward my open window, lunged towards me and yelled "FU*K YOU!" I was in disbelief. Thankfully I'm more mature and didn't decide to get out of the vehicle otherwise he'd have been on the losing end of that. He got into his van, still cursing at me as he got his tour guests ready to leave the lot. The fact that this guy is driving paying customers and yet starting fights in roadside parking lots is absolutely insane. I did call the company to let them know and I'm hoping by the time of writing this review, that he's no longer employed by this company or any tourism based company. My three kids are still shocked at the whole encounter and it's upsetting that young kids had to even watch that behavior as it's not the right example I want to set for my children. At least I took the high road and didn't escalate the situation. read more

I have grown up on big island & its full of a aloha, Friday I drove to Hana & was passed by 3 vehicles, I love ocean view & no how to drive windy roads but first time driving I dont want to put others at risk, driving back out of Hana I was extremely careful about the one way yeld zones, I pulled onto a one way road & seen the company van pull past the yield zone after I was on it, extremely condufused the uncle parks in front of me & starts threatening, so I reversed out of the way. He parks in the middle of the road with 20 cars behind him & at least 5 behind me & takes of his seat belt , open his door & threaten me more. I get it, its a stressful drive, I was doing my best to be dillegent, I was on the road first & he say he was but zero Aloha was there, first time off the big island in 22 years & first time to Maui, Uncle could have handled it better, sorry to all the tourists that had to see that read more

They are not reliable. The vans are not clean and in need of repair. Not comfortable. The stops are not consistent. The lunch is not in line with what you pay for.I was never offered a seat that would work for my condition. We got up at 5 A.M. and went down stairs at 6:15 to wait for them to pick us up. We were picked up 35 minutes late. After finding there was not a suitable seat for us they toke us back to resort because we really wanted to go on the tour we went back and rescheduled it. This time they were late again and the van was in need of repair. The places we visited were not what we expected really just a long drive. No real information or good tour stops. The black sand beach is beautiful but the entire park above the beach is full of cats. "allergies are not good Here" The company owner never apologized or even toke the time out to speck with us. No customer service no care or concern. That shows in the condition of the Vans. Since my complaint was against his son. He toke more time out to write answers to my review then to speak with me. We noticed another company that had better van's and much better lunch Called Temptation tours. The vans were clean and the people said it was the best. Don't waist your money and if you are a senior like we are the van's are not good getting in and out horrible. read more

We chose to do the Road to Hana tour with Hana and Beyond while in Maui last week and it was the best choice! Our guide was Sheldon and he was so inviting and friendly that it made the whole tour enjoyable. There was a landslide in Maui so he told us ahead of time we wouldn't be able to go full circle, BUT he made up for that by taking us by a few other places. He was awesome, very attentive amd the tour was the greatest. If you want to so Hana...choose Hana and Beyond! (I also love the fact that they are all locals and it's a fam business. Locally owned business. When i called them, Walter answered all of my questions and was so helpful. Kimo our driver and guide did our tour on a Saturday. Such a great time talking about Hawaiian history and local traditions. He stopped at many places along the way. Kimo was always considerate of the traffic and bathroom breaks lol Lunch was a good sized sandwich, soft drinks and chips We even got a ukelele lesson!! he did ask us if we wanted to stop at many places along the way to get additional snacks or try some local food. He told fun jokes, was overall very down to earth and let everyone in the van have their own time exploring. Definitely an expert driver for this narrow road up and down the mountain. This tour felt very corporate I feel I could have done better driving myself. I was hoping for more of a locals only type of experience. We Stopped at Starbucks for breakfast- that really set the standard for the rest of the trip. Also thought breakfast was included per the website but I guess not?? If you are going to make us buy our own breakfast, with so many better local options along this road, why are we stopping at a chain we can get anywhere? There were so many cool stops with local food options along the way we drove right on past. Included great food stops. The lunch included mentioned on the website had a gluten free option but when I got my lunch it was the same as everyone else and said "this is regular bread we don't offer gluten free" For anyone with celiac they wouldn't have been able to eat that at all due to cross contamination. Unbelievable. Once we got to Hana I was excited to explore more of the area we were being told about on foot but no... the van never stopped. We got 5 minutes total all in the van. I was disappointed to come all that way and not get to explore. While I enjoyed the road, the foliage, the sites we did stop, this tour left much to be desired.. won't recommend or ever do this again unfortunately. read more

We planned on driving the Road to Hana ourselves. I've done it once before several years ago so was aware of the many twists and turns. Our good friends came with on this trip and as they'd never really been outside of Kentucky I just thought....we'd be better off with a tour so we could all see and enjoy without the stress of driving. Our hotel had 2 offerings. I looked at Yelp, TripAdvisor and posted in one of the Maui Facebook groups asking for suggestions. I settled on Hana and Beyond but booked directly rather than pay the upcharge with the hotel's concierge. It was a very early am pickup so after our groups were loaded up, we headed to Starbucks where we all opened our eyes a bit wider with some hot coffee and a snack. Hana and Beyond provided fresh sandwiches for lunch with drinks and chips too. We could not have been more pleased. Without a doubt being in a large windowed comfy van was a pleasure. But our driver, Nancy.....well this woman deserves a medal. Charming, funny, clever and oh so educated and aware of her beloved Maui. She shared, explained and kept us informed on all the history of the island and its people. The politics and current issues facing many of its people. We saw EVERYTHING. Stopped or slowed at many of the beautiful waterfalls and sights. Headed to Black Beach where Hana and Beyond is provided a time slot so we could all have lunch and take in the beach. Our trip included the reverse so we were taken around the entire island. It was really wonderful. It is a long day and we had that very good exhaustion at the end of it. There are plenty of companies to use, but I would so strongly recommend these nice folks. read more

Saw a driver from this company around 4:30 today in Kaanapali driving recklessly. He cut me off as I passed a car and then tailgated me until he finally backed off. In my rear view mirror I watched him swerving between lanes trying to get ahead. At a stoplight I looked to see if there were any passengers and thankfully the van was empty. He was a tatted up skinny brunette with sunglasses. Absolutely going to cause a wreck and possibly injuries if he continues driving with no Aloha. Only writing this because another reviewer mentioned a terrible driver and the owner responded with a comment that if anyone else saw something like it again to let him know. read more

We had the most amazing tour today with Happy. He was such a great host. We felt so comfortable and safe with his driving on the wet and windy road to Hana. He knew everything about everything it seemed. He had so much knowledge and fun facts to share with us. He was funny too. The stops were so great too. Beaches, over-looks, sea turtles and lava cliffs. He even threw in some extra bonus scary stories on our way back. This was exactly the kind of tour you want to take to learn about Hawaii from a true native. Would recommend to my friends and family. We also got to stop for snacks and such along the way. Yum! This was my family and I's first time visiting Maui and the road to Hana. Sean was a very fun tour guide and expert driver. We had an overload of things to visit, view and plenty of opportunities to get out and stretch our legs. With all the traffic, turns and one way bridges, it would have been a stressful drive with no chance for the driver to view the scenery. The Road to Hana tour was amazing and our tour guide was great at explaining everything as we went by. The sights were gorgeous and we were able to stop at certain scenic locations for pictures, street food, and of course the beaches. The day trip started early at 6:10 for my wife and I as we were the first pick up, but we loved every minute of it and our tour guide/driver was delightful the whole way. The bus for us was almost completely packed but still was not cramped or anything. 100% recommend to anyone on the fence about driving (and had the extra money to spend) on a guided tour. read more

If you want to stop and take plenty of pictures, don't do this tour. Most of our visuals were in a van and we stopped at multiple local businesses. Seemed like the tour was just into bringing other businesses customers. We went to a beach for lunch. Bring water shoes. No one wanted to swim because of the pebbles that were hurting their feet.
