Been here a couple times since moving back to Sarnia and I've not been impressed with Hana so far. The rolls aren't consistent, not even how they're made from visit to visit (the Lambton roll, I think it was called, was a regular maki roll one time and then a sliced up hand roll the second time?). Some of them, like the crispy spicy salmon (a staple of mine) are pitifully small, like what you'd get at a grocery bento. On one of my visits there was only a handful of tables sitting in and they still missed 1 of 6 items I ordered. I try not to knock AYCE places too much for that if it's busy or if my table has ordered a lot of items, but I didn't think either applied here. Plus the staff were looking aimless and I had to flag them down to get my drink refilled. Nothing I ate tasted bad and, individually, the rolls are good. But the overall experience I've had both times here was underwhelming, I suppose. I've just moved back from London, ON where there was obviously better selection, but of the sushi places Sarnia has gained since a few years ago, there's better options than Hana in town. read more

If you have never been out of Sarnia, and this was the only AYCE sushi place you have ever been to, you might not know how bad this is. In the rest of the world, they don't cut the fish paper thin so you can't taste it. They don't point the katsu so thin that the breading is thicker than the meat in both sides. The spice crispy salmon rolls are not filled with the crumbs so that you can't taste not taste the salmon and it's like eating a spoonful of bread crumbs. This place was good when it first opened and has gone downhill. Told myself I would never go back because I got over charged and horrible service but my son wanted to go for his birthday. Didnt think it could get worse but it has. Quality of food, service is horrible. Different people were constantly bringing our food and in all weird orders and messed up. Come hungry and try a little of everything. They have higher quality crab than we can usually get in our land-locked state, and the fishes are super-fresh. The best thing we tried on the savory menu was a cheese & crab appetizer. Save room for dessert, though, because the caramel and chocolate mousse cakes are truly amazing. read more

Hands down, this is my favourite restaurant in Sarnia. It's very modern and every time I walk in, I'm struck by the beauty of it. The servers don't speak much but that doesn't bother me at all! The service is fast and efficient, and I'm not one to hold conversations so it works perfectly with me. If one is looking for an engaging server, this probably isn't the place for you, as most of them don't speak English. The food is good. There isn't much choice for Asian food in this small town, and this is the best of it. The beef and chicken skewers are my absolute favourite, and the udon dishes are delicious. They also have a drink called a Blushing Geisha and it's very, very good. They also have green tea ice cream in their dessert menu and that is impossible to find here! The way the restaurant is set up, all the menus are at the table. Each item on the menu is numbered, and you write down on a provided piece of paper the number and quantity of a dish that you want, and then it's brought hot to your table. It's an all you can eat buffet where the food is cooked hot for you instead of sitting out for everyone to choose from. I prefer this method. I go to this restaurant as often as I can and I will continue, as long as it's open. read more

I have eaten here before, it doesn't change. Maybe I am looking for something to change but it probably will not. Surprisingly for Sarnia the decor of this restaurant is modern and somewhat chic (for Sarnia). The service reminds me of Jimmy John's - Freaky Fast. but not with quality. One has to understand that most of the servers do not speak English, mostly Mandarin for a Japanese Restaurant. Hana's has found a niche that seems to sit well with "Sarnonians" all you can eat buffet of all kinds of Westernized Chinese and Japanese fair. Small plates brought to your table for a fixed per person rate. Is the food good? It's edible, reasonably priced, I am not a fan of all you can eat establishments as it seems to be quantity over quality. If you patronage the establishment that's what you have to expect. To make it easy for all the Westerners who can't understand how to order from an Asian menu they number the items and you simply write the number on a small piece of paper and slip it to your server and she flies by. Make sure you repeat your order carefully and slowly, it will be certainly misunderstood or forgotten as turning tables is the priority In this fast paced Hana Land. I don't speak Madarin, I wish I could as it would help me in my travels to China and to Hana. Would I go back, yes. The food tasted bland and was of poor quality. There's too much rice and not much of the other stuff. The warmth of the rice gave the fish an unpleasant taste. If I didn't have to pay a leftover charge, I wouldn't have eaten my food. Presentation wasn't good, although the place itself looked nice on the inside. My plate was sticky and dirty. SUPER DISSATISFIED! The hostess that is suppose to welcome you into your dining experience had nothing but a scowl on her face and didn't even say hello to us. Extremely unwelcoming! We sat down at our cleared off but very sticky table. I go to reach for my soya sauce and not only is it empty but filthy as well. Both orders of our miso soup had not one cube of tofu or seaweed leaf. The dragon roll was very good however... I had to ask 6... yes 6 times for wasabi and ginger. And that was from 3 different servers! I should also mention the repulsive bathrooms. I went to the men's with a overflowing waste basket holding not just the main door open but then one of the two stalls was out of order with another can holding it open. My wife went into the woman's washroom... surprise, surprise it was also disgusting. As we went to pay our almost $70 bill for 2 ppl with no alcohol the same hostess once again simply took our bill... scanned it... took our money... didn't look at us and didn't say thank you for coming. FYI I know she speaks English because I heard her talking to another employee. If the front of the house is a mess where everyone can see it makes me seriously question the cleanliness of the kitchen! We have been to this restaurant many times, including the first week it opened. I have brought my family and friends here. The last few times we have gone the hospitality and cleanliness had declined. Tonight's experience was by far unacceptable!!! read more

Okay but overrated. That being said they cater to the typical Sarnia niche... Quantity and Price over Quality. Not necessarily a bad thing if that's what you want. Just know any service can only offer 100% in total. And if you want a hefty portion at a below average cost - the cuts have to be made somewhere - in this case Quality. Again this restaurant is okay. But there are many other good sushi places you should try if you believe Hana is the be all end all of sushi. These other restaurants do come at a price, but if you love sushi, they are worth it. read more

I am a fan. Coming from Toronto where Ayce sushi is very common. This place is better than most in Toronto. They are very smart with their menu catering to the majority of the demography of Sarnia. read more

I would like to see information about what is in the food ( MSG, preservatives etc.). I could not find anything? I did note that the dishes we used were cracked and chipped. It was off putting. This is such an awesome place for sushi if you have never had it before. Adults pay one set price (different for lunch and dinner) but can order many different kinds of sushi. Sushi isn't the only thing you can order--you can order fried rice, vegetables or even hash browns! Hana's is the place to be if you want to try different types of sushi without paying too much money! read more

Hana used to be my favorite in town. However after the experience we just had I will NOT be returning. The wait staff presented the menu as though it was a deal; we would be getting the dinner menu all day for Mother's Day; what they neglected to mention was what they were actually doing at 11:30 in the morning was charging dinner prices for lunch! So what was supposed to be a decent priced meal ended up being $65 for 2 adults! That is NOT a deal and the food is NOT that good! It's good but it's definitely not $65 good! I am feeling extremely ripped off and deceived right now, had I known we were being charged that much I would've left or at least ate that much worth of food, at best we ate maybe $20 total in food! That was a very deceitful thing to do on Mother's Day, very poor business practice and highly unethical; every person I heard walk out behind us said the same thing, they would not be returning, I definitely will not be returning to Hana after that experience! My daughter and I ate here for the first time the other day. We would definitely eat here again. The food was good and reasonably priced. The place was spotless. The service was really really good. T he young lady who served us was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. This is as close to average as you can get in a AYCE sushi restaurant. When it comes to service or food, it's exactly "satisfactory". The interior of Hana is very appealing. The decor is modern and clean. The staff are quick to greet you at the door and get you in a seat. The wait staff are usually quite prompt in taking your drink order and often right on time to take your first food order. If you're looking for a mediocre sushi experience, this is the place. read more

Hana offers great Asian cuisine. It's all you can eat but they serve you at your table. They are known for their many sushi rolls, but I love their assortment of chicken, rice and many other items on the menu. The desert doesn't impress me, but I'm still giving them 5 stars because the main courses are so good read more

If you don't know much about Japanese food, you will enjoy yourself here. If you do know Japanese food, save yourself a trip. The quality of the fish is not the greatest, and you can taste it. Knife skills of the sushi chefs are not the greatest, and you can see it. Meat tends to be dry, mayo is overdone, etc. But for the average person, this place is probably fine. read more

This is best all you can eat sushi experience I have had and I am very particular about my sushi. It is fresh everytime. You haven't had sushi unless you have come to Hana. I drive all the way from Chatham, ON to Sarnia, ON when I want sushi and I can tell you it is worth the drive. The quality of their food is top notch and they have lots of menu items to choose from. My favourite is the Lambton roll. They stay busy, but you usually don't need to wait very long at all to get a seat. These guys know what they are doing and a perfect example of what a good sushi place should be. I hope they stick around for a long time. read more

I'm not a fan of cream cheese on my sushi (and half the rolls there have cream cheese) and some rolls are ridiculous and will make you sick (banana shrimp?!). service is ok, tea is extra $ which is a surprise for a japanese-style restaurant, but it looks nice on the inside. Also very costly, $25 each for sub-par sushi is awful. read more
