Felt I had to try the place because of all the high reviews, but my impression was that it was just average. I got an Alaskan roll, yellowtail roll, and seaweed salad. While the fish was fresh, nothing was particularly above average. Yes, it was freshly made. There was something lacking in terms of the quantity and quality. I don't think the price justifies the taste, although there was nothing obviously wrong about the sushi. I love The Goblin so much. I have been going here since Covid and their consistency and use of high quality ingredients remains! Their menu is simple but there are many treasures! I currently love getting their salad and their torched salmon nigiri. But also love their Philadelphia roll, spicy tuna, spicy mayo, egg nigiri, salmon bowl and matcha cheesecake. I got the salmon bowl (avocado, thinly sliced cukes, raw salmon, and sushi rice) 10/10 Excellent quality salmon, fresh ripe avocado, and I loved that the rice was slightly warm. I do not like cold, stiff sushi rice. Also, the bowl was only $10 I also got a spicy tuna roll, which was delicious. I do not like wasabi, which comes in a tiny bag, but it still did the trick. The nearly all-white interior is trendy and welcoming. The staff here is friendly and efficient. The seafood options are always fresh, and overall, the pricing is fair. As for the sushi specifically, you can't go wrong with any of the menu items. The Alaska, Dragon, and Fire Cracker rolls are all delicious, but of those, I prefer the Alaska. The simpler rolls, such as the salmon and yellowtail, are solid options, as well. The Panda and Penguin trays are great options for larger groups. My go-to dish is the nigiri. I have tried the BBQ eel, bluefin tuna, mackerel, salmon, shrimp, torched scallop, torched squid, and yellowtail. Similar to the rolls, all of these are great options. I had this place saved for a long time and finally got to try it out. I am very selective when it comes to my raw fish and only trust a few places (Noble Fish, So Zai, One World Market) and am happy that I can now add The Goblin to my list! The fish tasted fresh and I would say the quality compares to Noble Fish. We got the Goblin Panda Tray which is a great price ($50 for 48 pieces). We had minimal left over and thought it was the perfect portion for 2. We sat at the bar area and the sushi chef was so kind and offered us a free sushi sample as well as a sample of REAL wasabi! Drove from Toledo and stumbled across this sushi spot It's friendly, quirky, fresh and delicious. A bright white jewel in a mini strip mall. Everything we had was flavorful and perfect. We tried the scorched scallops and scorched salmon; what a treat. We also ordered yellowtail and chives, chicken teriyaki roll, and the firecracker roll. I generally am not a fan of warm sushi but this managed to maintain its freshness with its simplicity. We have a GREAT sushi spot in Toledo but can't ever get in. Don't bother reading reviews, you have to try Goblin for yourself. This is by far the best sushi restaurant and has the most fresh fish. The sushi chefs are amazing! They're so friendly, hard working, generous, and talented. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorites are the salmon belly and spicy tuna rolls. However, everything is really good and fresh. I'm not a huge fan of yellowtail, but it's super fresh and popular here. Service, food taste and quality are 5/5. It's the only sushi restaurant I'll ever go to, especially in Michigan. Nothing compares to the taste and freshness. The ambience is also perfect. They have KPOP playing and the interior is so cute. It makes you feel like you're in LA or Japan/Korea. FYI this is more of a takeout place so I do not recommend coming here with a large group, however it's great for a date or to grab sushi with a friend! read more

There's no sign on the building, just can tell seeing the sushi chefs working behind the bar. It's the building with the pink drapes or curtains on the windows. The interior looks lab clean from first impressions. We ordered the Alaska, caterpillar roll with crab instead of shrimp inside, chicken teriyaki roll, California with cream cheese and a crab salad roll. $48.23 is our total and about 20-25 minutes to be ready. They asked if we wanted to pay before picking it up. I don't tend to pay until I have what I am paying for in hand, but they are probably offering the pay ahead due to the pandemic. Having a bit of wifi connection issues with the credit card reader for me. Had to restart their iPad o get the card reader to work. The guy working behind the counter was super friendly and explained to me what was going on and apologized for the card reader delays. The Alaska roll was my most favorite, the caterpillar and chicken teriyaki were also the preferred rolls out of all of the rolls we ordered tonight. The caterpillar was tasty, would recommend a seed or two from the jalapeño as it didn't have any heat to it at all. The Philly roll was creamy as was the crab salad roll, but seem so plain and boring next to the fancier rolls. We ate the more expensive rolls last. The chicken teriyaki was sweet and creamy with the cream cheese in it. The rolls tasted super fresh and of course, since they were busy rolling out the orders when we arrived. I would recommend the top 3 picks from order again for another visit. read more

Order well ahead of time, they are very busy! All the rolls were really good, I especially enjoyed the spicy tuna and the Alaskan. This place is a welcome addition to the sushi restaurants as many of them do not have fresh fish or charge out of world prices for average sushi. My only knock really is that a few rolls were a bit cold but this could've just been because it was carry out. I love this place so much and it's one of my go-to sushi spots. The staff are so friendly and the service is absolutely amazing. Very generous of the chefs to offer rotating menu items or experimental dishes, every time I go we love it. LOVE the ambiance as well, the bright interior and minimalistic plating gives off a very clean and comfortable feeling. The sushi is one of the freshest tasting I've ever had. Amazing. I think I've gotten takeout from Goblin 6 or 7 times by this point, and I've never been disappointed. Quite the opposite - the quality of fish and variety of rolls that the offer is excellent. My first visit I indulged with the dosirak, it was SO GOOD. Not currently on the menu but if they ever bring it back I would like them to text me personally so I can be first in line! Follow up visits have resulted in multiple penguin party trays eaten (I always feel bad for the penguin at the end though!) and many a 3-piece nigiri demolished. The quality is certainly there, the menu is awesome and if you hang out on Instagram a lot, their videos are great too! Seriously the owner is amazing! We stopped here because it popped up on our yelp and we are so glad. This is the best "fast" sushi EVER! No frills just perfect sushi! If your looking for real plates and wait staff this is not it. Order at the counter, easy to read menu (giant pictures on the walls). Nice selection of raw and rolls. We got the penguin platter of sushi and it didn't disappoint. A combination of 6 different rolls. Chef also offered us a complimentary fresh salmon and it was like heaven!
