So conveniently located a mile from work..parking is easy peasy. The food selection is quite appealing, fresh sushi, bento boxes, hibachi off menu as well as hibachi that is prepared in front of you, for larger groups. I normally get the bento box, and it has a mix of great stuff. Today i got the hibachi chicken and it comes with a nice salad w/ginger dressing. I always order to go as I do not enjoy the shared eating experience. I always order the steak and scallop or the shrimp and scallop hibachi for my husband and I. The inside of the restaurant is small and I can imagine some truth to reviews below. If the restaurant was extremely full, I can imagine mistakes being made. Nevertheless, no matter how cosmopolitan the area, I have never found another hibachi equivalent in price, quality and quantity. The service is consistent. I spent $50 per meal for the same options at a higher end hibachi in VA Beach that couldn't compare. I went to Teppan Edo at Disney and was not as impressed with my $150 meal there. This was our first time back to Hana Sushi since COVID-19 regulations were lifted for restaurants. It was much slower than their usual dinner time hour(I've been going here for years and it is always busy around 5-7pm)! We noticed a lot of people were ordering takeout and there was one other family there in the sushi section. The service was exceptional and our dinners were delicious! The miso soup is always the perfect temperature and the salad is consistently fresh and tasty. We were a little disappointed that they didn't include the two small shrimp with our meals. They have ALWAYS thrown two shrimp on the side with any hibachi dinner(even if you get a dinner that includes shrimp). It's not a huge deal, but everyone looks forward to the little bonus bite with their meal because they're so good and it adds a little variety without having to pay more for one of the combination hibachi dinners. Yikes. Do not go here. Travel to Yorktown for hibachi. I ordered steak hibachi and the guy doing the hibachi realized there wasn't enough steak so he himself left the hibachi table to go get more to cook. Turns out it was bad. I spit it out in my napkin and was sick all night. Thank goodness my kids ordered chicken and my husband ordered seafood. Beware. Doesn't look like much from the outside or upon entrance but the food is delicious. I order the Sukiyaki Steak lunch special with Miso Soup. It came out to $12.08 and was ready in less than 10 minutes. I ordered to-go, and was pleasantly surprised to open my meal and see not only a hearty portion but perfectly glazed strips of steak. Decent sushi and a good selection for people who don't eat raw fish. The menu is on a piece of paper where you mark your selection. The menu has many items and there is a description for each, which was very helpful. If you like deep fried rolls, you have plenty to choose from! My two rolls were tasty and well portioned, especially liked the eel and spicy mayo. Prices were fair for a sushi place. My hot green tea was refreshing and they also have a large drink menu. Most of the restaurant was dedicated to hibachi tables, with a small area of booths as well as the bar seating in front of the sushi chefs. Tried Hana for the first time this past Sunday. We went right around peak Dinner time but thankfully there was no wait. We opted for a regular table and not an Habatchi table. Our wait staff was attentive. The floor however was a bit dirty and stained in certain areas. The food came out really quick. I ordered a Virginia roll and the Habatchi meal for 2. The soup that comes out before the meal was not very hot and sadly they gave us regular spoons to eat it. New area to us so we are trying all the local favorites. Let me first say our visit was at 5:45 on a Sunday. So they were getting busy. However we were disappointed with the service. Since we have never been here before we walked in and stood at the hostess stand. No sign that says please wait or seat self. So we wait, and wait longer. Finally someone came over and asked us and since we did not want hibachi and all 6 regular tables were full we sat at sushi bar. Never having done this before, again we wait and wait. Finally hostess tells us what to do to order sushi. They finally took our drink order and we asked for menu to see the other menu items. Ordered shrimp dumplings(appetizer) which didn't arrive until we had our sushi. Sushi was in making, no dumplings yet they hand me my order but tell my husband they can't make his roll as they have run out of cream cheese. Really, you serve sushi AND you are in a strip mall right beside Food Lion??? The sushi was prepared well and was very tasty. We decided we didn't care for the dumplings, not because there was anything wrong with them, just personal taste. Overall nothing special. We have eaten here frequently since it opened (actually ate there for their grand opening). But, we only go for the sushi, not the "Hana" show. So, I'm always disappointed when I can't get a seat at the sushi bar, which only has about 8 seats (it only had 4 when it first opened). I have to say the sushi is generally very good. Not the same as San Fran or L.A., but of pretty high quality. One of my favorites is Uni and, believe me, you can tell when it has been around a little too long. They also do a lot of nice rolls, like the spicy tuna roll and the Dragon roll (cooked eel)--very tasty. They also will happily make you chef specials that they think you will like. The wait staff is usually very friendly and attentive. But sometimes they get very busy on weekends and service can lag a little. On weekends, there are always large groups at the 4 Hana tables where the chefs put on a good show. Lots of birthday parties usually. Everyone seems to enjoy it and has a good time. From what I see, not much food left after folks leave. If you are looking for fresh sushi with nice staff and no pretensions, this is a good place to go. Wanting Sushi tonight I started to look around Yelp, and Hana's was without a review; so here it comes. Walking into the restaurant I was surprised no one had reviewed it yet. The restaurant was full, and there was only room at the sushi bar, which was fine for me. The majority of the restaurant in the novelty of cook at your table type restaurant, and I will not review that. I had sushi and nigri. The only reason for giving the restaurant three stars is the miso soup which I found mediocre. For the rest the two roles I had were good: The Hana's role was very different, good, but I am not sure if I would take it a second time. I try eel in every sushi place and this one was great. Their nigri had copious amounts of fresh fish which was wonderful. Again the sushi bar is worth 4 stars were in not for the miso soup. read more

The server was very rude and said that we would have to wait to be seated since every one was not there. I can see why they weren't busy if they were being rude to customers. Doesn't make any sense.
