    Saisaki Special Roll
    Beth S.

We LOVE Saisaki! I was nervous at first to try it but it's become our regular spot. We like to sit at the bar when we can because we find service is friendlier there. For starters we like the sushi appetizer (fresh and yummy), spring rolls, crab rangoons, and gyoza! All hit the spot - flavorful and perfect sized. With the size of the rolls, we normally just get two apps to share and one roll each. As someone who doesn't like a ton of raw fish, I get the Saisaki Special Roll. It has lobster salad, shrimp tempura and avacado. I love the eel and spicy mayo dipping sauce that gives it a great sweet and spicy combo. He gets the Sakura roll and loves it - fresh and unique. For drinks, I love the white sangria - sweet and refreshing.

Lunch with a favorite neighbor at our favorite sushi place! Wow, is all I have to say they blew it out of the water today! Each of us had three rolls wonton soup, and salad. I ordered the tempura shrimp, eel, avocado, in the California. She ordered a yellow tail, the scallop, and the spicy tuna. We also had an appetizer.

Come for the sashimi not the service. The sashimi was great and well worth the $2.50 per piece. I came just in time for the lunch special and ordered two sushi rolls six pieces of sashimi the lunch hibachi with General chicken. I asked for fried rice no onion and the server acknowledged it also my request for one sushi roll (spicy tuna) to have no sesame seeds due to an allergy and the other spicy yellowtail to include sesame. What I received was partially correct. The sashimi was good, nice thick cuts to make me appreciate the value but the server attitude left a lot to be desired. The pad Thai and general chicken was average at best. The sushi was not spectacular and the floor was sticky when we walked in at 2 pm. Overall not a favorite but I suppose it will do in a pinch. If only .5 stars was a thing. 2.5

This is my go to spot for peppercorn squid. The consistency of that dish alone keeps me coming back! I also had a dancing eel roll. Delicious! We also tried the scallion pancake and shrimp shumai and they were good. 4 STARS! Saisaki is awesome! Great service and flavor. I'll be back!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Not that one should eat their feelings, but if I'm having a bag day, this is one of the places that will brighten my day whether we eat in or takeout. This visit was on a Wednesday and the restaurant was about 3/4 full with a log list of to go orders being filled at the front register. We were promptly greeted and seated to our table. The waitress came to get our drink orders almost immediately. We each started with a salad and I was pleased with the size of a garden salad for only $4. If you don't like the ginger dressing, I'd recommend asking for it on the side since there was quite a bit. I was definitely expecting a side salad size. My husband enjoyed his Thai salad with chicken, jicama, mango and peanut dressing. The power roll with shrimp tempura, asparagus inside and grilled steak, eel sauce and spicy mayo is my go to roll then I mix it up with a second roll. Today I had the Sakura roll. Inside-tuna, salmon, avocado Outside-tuna, salmon, eel, avocado, red tobiko, crunch & eel sauce. My husband had spicy chicken with mango but had bell peppers, jicama and snow peas. The waitress said it was her favorite and creamy. He really enjoyed it. They have someone that just brings drink refills and clears plates for waitresses and he's super speedy. He has a refill for you before you finish your drink. The restaurant, even when full, isn't overly loud. We couldn't hear conversations from the table next to or behind us. They have special rolls listed on a flyer at the table.

This is my go-to Chinese restaurant in NN! Never have a bad meal here or service. I stick to the Chinese dishes for the most part recently and it does not disappoint. Inside it is comfortable and clean.

I've ate here a few times & I've always enjoyed the food. I ordered the two shrimp appetizers, which were the coconut shrimp and the salt & pepper shrimp. The s&p shrimp was soggy because of the vegetables on the side, but besides that, everything else was good.

    chicken Japanese Hibachi Lunch Special

The food was fresh. I had the salmon avocado sushi rolls and the hibachi chicken, and everything was great with the good. I did ask for yum yum sauce for my hibachi but that was not to discredit the food just a personal preference. The server seemed annoyed and aggressive about the party not being there all at the same time. She was friendly yet frustrated it seemed, but not completely rude. They had a really nice vibe in the restaurant, it was lunch but they had some recognizable R&B playing. My only thing is that the server could have been a little more patient, the sushi was chewy, but my friends say that's fresh, and my hibachi was decent and my yum Yum sauce added some pizazz! Overall I recommend because the other dishes that our party received seemed like they enjoyed them!

What a great experience! Service and food were outstanding!! Both chicken dish were flavorful, tender and simply a wonderful dish!! What more would you want?? Ample food, great flavor and presentation and the service was top shelf! We'll be back! Thank you!

Saisaki's Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar masterfully combines outstanding service with the best flavors of Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Malaysian cuisines. This fusion results in a diverse menu with a wide variety of food options. I love the fiery Szechuan Peppercorn Crispy Chicken. This dish is made of crispy white chicken meat infused with the distinct numbing heat of Szechuan peppercorns. Each bite delivers an amazing balance of crispy texture and bold, spicy flavors that dance on the palate. Additionally, their sushi rolls stand out, showcasing creative combinations that tantalize the taste buds. Their rolls are a visual and flavorful feast, combining fresh, high-quality ingredients. From traditional favorites to innovative creations, sushi lovers will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant for all those who love Asian cuisine.

Service ok. They have a small bar. Asked for extra spicy. Not spicy at all. Looked so pretty though. Walked here from my hotel. I didn't get any sushi but it looked good. Wouldn't come back.

This was my second visit to this eclectic Asian venue. The first was several years ago. I went today with family, some of whom are more frequent patrons. The menu is extensive and a nice variety of lunch specials and desserts. Portions are huge. The food is a bit bland when it comes to more traditional chinese type fare, but both of us that got sushi raved about it. One got salmon rice sushi and was very pleased. A side order of fried rice filled a large plate. To go boxes were needed by most of us. Wait staff was busy so not overly attentive. I got the wrong order brought to me so I had to wait for mine to be remade. That is the reason for less than 5 stars. That and the fact the flavors were just nice but not unique. This is a very nice restaurant for lunch or dinner for patrons who like variety in their Asian offerings.

We arrived at 6:30pm for our reservation. We walked in and was greeted and the next gesture was the hostess asking for $10 each. I was a bit blown away because I didn't understand what the $10 was for because we just walked in the restaurant and it was only a handful of people inside including an employee sitting down eating ... and the workers still setting up and what appeared to be the entertainment that was setting up as well. The hostess mentioned entertainment was taking place around 7:30 or 8:00 ... Okay but it was not even close to that time frame so not sure why money was taken or asked for in advance. My bestie and I were going to dine if anything share an appetizer and have a drink ...definitely wasn't going to be there for any entertainment because we both were underdressed so that was a bit of a turn-off but he was excited to try the restaurant so he paid the $20 for us to walk in and sit down. The restaurant was wide open so we decided to sit at the bar instead of a table not sure if he was greeted at the bar because I went to the restroom. Nevertheless I came from the restroom and sat at the bar with him and not even 2 minutes later I was greeted with gnats and the smell of bleach such a turn off not sure what's going on here or what happened but I was ready to go. My bestie wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt but 5 minutes later I still was turned off and was ready to go. Well... go at your own risk. Parking is available on the street as well as a parking garage is available within walking distance. We were in and out by 7pm. $60 spent I order an old fashioned I know I finished that in about 15 seconds because I didn't want anything to get in it so from what I can recall it was good. Have fun and enjoy life :)

They were also out of the snake river Wagyu ribeye and strip steak. We were told they didn't receive a shipment of meat. I like that when you order a steak it already comes with two sides. Other steakhouses you would have to order sides à la carte. The cocktails were amazing and service was great. Only thing that was a little weird was we had two birthdays and asked the manager if they happened to do a complimentary birthday dessert or something for the two birthday guest. He responded politely with we don't do any birthday desserts but you can order champagne since it's a celebration. Mind you it's a party of 12 and each couple's bill was at least 250+. Given what we spent, we felt we could have received a more memorable dining experience elsewhere, such as Eddie V's, where both the atmosphere and flavor profile tend to align with the premium cost. Location isn't bad at all and there's more of an older crowd there. Not many folks my age (from what I saw, it's more of the throw back Thursday, which is cool) Food: I tried the 8 oz burger and instead fries I got a salad. Wish the burger had a bit more seasoning - I mean it was juicy but lacked flavor the ketchup mayo onion and things gave it that flavor. It has potential to be an amazing burger (I would pay more for flavor tbh). I also got a bold rock which is only $1 off during happy hour Each Combo comes with a drink, but I had to ask the bartender for my drink after my food came out versus her asking me what I wanted to drink aside from the beer since it's included ya know. Service: It's a pretty welcoming environment as far as the staff goes, the crowd they attract isn't like the alley on mercury but it also isn't giving me boujee either The bartender was pretty attentive and so was the gentleman who sat at the front and told me a bit about the place I asked him what goes on around here and he gave me the run down. I told him I was on yelp and uploading pictures since they didn't have much he says "we don't really do yelp too much" lol I mean whether the business does it or not people like my self will still give feedback about the business from an elite perspective. Will i return? I'd probably go back and try another food item and maybe check out some of their weekly happenings. For such a cool spot overall, there specials could be better. Tailored Smoke Cigar Lounge, 605 Pilot House Drive, Newport News, VA 23606…read more When I am traveling on business or pleasure, I always make the effort to support local brick and mortar cigar lounges and shops due to the onslaught of Government regulations that make it difficult for these lounges and shops to stay in business. I have visited cigar lounges and shops across the U.S., Asia, and Europe. I saw some good ones and some bad ones. I am in the mindset that you must experience bad ones so you can recognize the good ones. On a business trip to Hampton, VA, I visited Tailored Smoke Cigar Lounge. Without a doubt, Tailored Smoke (https://tailoredsmoke.com/) is the WORST "cigar lounge" I have ever visited. I am loathed to call this a cigar lounge. The bad experience starts before you enter. It is trying to be a private lounge so you must pay a fee to make a reservation to get in. Once you are there, you are patted by like a common criminal. I do mean patted down. This off-duty cop seemed to take pleasure in slapping your private areas. Once in the door, you will find that you must pay another fee for a cover charge on top of the online fee for the reservation. However, you can use the online fee against the cover charge or your bar tab. Biggest issue is that they may not be able to find your reservation. Additionally, when the reservation was found they were confused whether it was for the smoking or non-smoking side (really???? Is this a cigar lounge or not?). We had to wait and got shuffled around for 30 minutes until they could find us a place to sit. We were shoved into a corner where people trampled over us as they navigated around high-top tables. My friend made the mistake of lighting up a cigarette. Instead of politely telling us cigarette smoking was not allowed, a woman in brown velvet-like jump suit got right up my face pointing her finger at me yelling to put the cigarette out. She was yelling so loud and so animated that she was spitting in my face. The waitress had no idea what spirits were available. We would be told one thing only to have waitress come back and tell up "ohhh we do not have that." Did I mention that in addition to the entry fees, you are required to purchase two cigars. Now, do not let the website fool you. The cupboards were bare. There were approximately five (5) labels to pick from. I only recognized a couple. I am talking about real throat burners. Overall, this is NOT a cigar lounge. I am not sure what to call it. After about an hour of the rude, unprofessional staff, the worst ambience (those pictures on the website must be from some other Tailored Smoke location), and poor service I had enough. I was ready to go after getting slapped in the junk on the pat down outside, however, my friend had arranged this, so I decided to give it a chance. Huge mistake. That is an hour in my life I will not get back. Cigar smokers....DO NOT GO TO Tailored Smoke Cigar Lounge, 605 Pilot House Drive, Newport News, VA 23606. It is disappointing that this place is allowed to call itself a cigar lounge.
