BBQ/Soup Combo with Spicy Pork Bulgogi and Pork/Kimchi Tofu Stew
    William C.

This is one of the better options within the H-Mart Food Hall if you find yourself craving some food before you shop. They have variety of traditional Korean food from tofu stews to kBBQ and they even offer banchan with their meals. The service was quick and the food came out piping hot and steaming. Just be mindful that this food takes some time to prepare but it gives you plenty of time to find a seat or wander the area to explore some of the other options. The food hall gets quite busy, but there is a decent amount of seating and the area is very clean and well maintained. I tried the BBQ/Stew combo as well as a Bibimbap. Of the two, I preferred the combo since it provided a lot of variety and both items were delicious. I'm not the biggest fan of tofu stews, but this one was very well seasoned and had a nice kick to it. The spicy pork bulgogi was very tender and a fair portion, but it came with a lot of onions that made it look bigger than it was. The banchan was a nice addition and tasted very fresh. Bibimbap came in a large stone bowl and accompanied with a perfectly fried egg as well as some gochujang to mix in. The portions were decent for the price, but felt kind of pricey being in a food hall. However, you could get a meal and then some for the price of one meal though so no complaints there. I would come back just for the tofu stew since that stood out the most and I'd try the kalbi as well!

Lovely option for traditional Korean food at the Hmart food hall, the restaurant is slowly releasing the rest of the the menu options. Not to be missed is the bibimbap which comes in a massive portion that can easily feed 2-3 people. The other thing that I recommend is the tofu jigae and bulgogi combo. Service is prompt and very friendly. Be warned as the food takes a while to prepare. Last time I waited between 20-30 minutes before it was ready. Tips: 1. Order Hanchon first before you order anything else in the food hall. 2. Return your empty dishes to the restaurant when you finish.

Would have given four stars if my food was sizzling hot. My kalbi came out lukewarmed even though it was served on a hot plate. Kalbi has great flavors though. The side dishes were good, fresh! We didn't have to wait too long for the food after ordering. Prices are good now with the 20% discount but I'm not sure if the foodcourt will attract this much foot traffic once the promo is over (10/13/24)? The eatery is loud and packed which is lively. Everything seems organized.

Just wanted to update, as the tofu soup has always been consistent, the lady enjoys it mucho! Nice broth nice flavor. I did finally try the spicy pork bulgogi and enjoyed it, unlike many of the other places around that fill most the dish with onions and veggies, there was actually pork to eat as a stand alone dish. Flavor was good, i asked for a side of gochujang sauce to dip additionally with white rice and the sides. It was good and i probably personally grab this more often than the kalbi... yes i know 9/10 times people will choose the kalbi but that's also an extra $5 on top with the combo.

Came here before grocery shopping and ordered the hot stone bibimbap. Ordering can take a while because they keep the orders spaced out due to the banchan they prepare for each meal. Once you order it's not that long of a wait. The food comes in hot and is a decent size. For the price I would prefer to go to an actual restaurant to get unlimited banchan. The stone stays hot for a long time giving you more crispy rice and the amount of food is good and flavorful with the gochujang sauce. During the time of day, you could have a decent wait time and finding a table may need patience. Remember to return your tray to the original restaurant!

Since the grand opening of HMart Quincy's food hall, I have tried Hanchon twice! Hanchon offers authentic Korean cuisine, which is definitely welcomed here in Quincy, as we lack Korean spots. The first time visiting, I tried their tofu stew + kalbi combo. For the first month of opening, all the food stalls are doing 20% off. I saw a review stating that Hanchon may have upped the price due to the 20% discount & their original price is $26.99 for the combo... not sure but regardless of this matter, I still think it's worth trying. I enjoyed the combo! Very flavorful and just tasty! I love that I don't have to drive into Allston to grab some Korean food or even NJ. I liked the seafood tofu stew so much that I came back the next day to get just the tofu stew! Comes with a bowl of rice & some banchan. Lots of parking but ever since the grand opening of the food hall, the parking lot has been incredibly packed especially during lunch/dinner hours, but should still be a couple spots in the back open. I would for sure come back again!

I stopped by for a late lunch, but the cashier took orders slowly. He waited for people to take their orders at the counter before taking new orders. Finally, galbi tang is on the menu, and more items are coming soon. The soup was flavorful and had a lot of meats, but they used wider mung bean noodles than japchae noodles. I will order again. Pick dine in if you have time to because the portion is bigger than take-out. The hot stone bibimbap was huge and had lots of ingredients. Both dishes had leftovers; we ended up asking for a container for the leftovers.

Hanchon is one of the many restaurants inside the Hmart food court. I can during their opening when they had 20% off but with a limited menu. I got to try the kalbi and the bulgolgi dish. I came during a weeknight for dinner and the seating area was packed. It took some time to get out food, but once it was ready they'll call your number. It comes with a few banchans mostly onions and kimchi which I thought was a bit too sour/vinegary. The meats on the other hand were great and I enjoyed the soft tender flavor that pairs perfectly with some white rice. Overall, a nice place to try for lunch or dinner.

Food Court is still pretty new. People need to have realistic expectation for it. The 20%off will incredible foot traffic and the fact it new. The ordering is pretty simple . You just wait in line till it's your turn. The seating situation is like hunger games. You have to walk around and see who is finishing up . You can't be polite about it. Just stand next to them and ask if they are finish. We got seafood tofu soup and Kabli then got a bacon & cheese egg toast. It was a bit of a wait but everything taste good. Portion size is reasonable. Worth a try

First time trying this restaurant inside the Hmart Quincy food hall. The beef bone soup is way better than my expectations! Definitely no msg or any other added seasoning but pure beef bone broth! I would go back again and try other soup they have on the menu.

    Bulgogi Japchae $17 (1/2/25)

Big portion sizes. Friendly staff. Got the bulgogi japchae for $17. Flavorful with a bit of sweetness. Worth the visit.

When I was there last week the price for the combo was $26.99 extra $4 for kalbi total comes to $30.99. Today with the 20% promotion the price went up to $38.99, even after the discount still paying more. If you scan the QR code for menu, the price said $26.99. Also you cannot have it to go because I was told no take out containers.

    Galbitang

Ordered Galbitang. The wait time for the food was about 30 minutes long. I've been waiting to try their Galbitang. It was good. Great portion. Now the con about the beef. They give only one long piece of the short rib bone which was not a lot of meat on the bone. The pieces of sheet like beef were briskets. I occasionally make galbitang at home and all the short ribs I use are string like texture with little bit of fat. Overall, soup flavor was good, brisket was tender, disappointed I paid that much for brisket.

The sauce bar was impressive, with tons of bases, oils, herbs, and nut toppings to mix and match. We chose duo broths: the Wild Mixed Mushroom Broth and the Pork Buddy Mala Butter Broth at medium spice. Having one spicy and one mild was perfect, and both had deep, flavorful profiles that got even better as the meal went on. VEGGIE PLATTER The veggie platter came packed with fresh ingredients like lettuce, lotus root, mushrooms, and squash. All the vegetables were crisp and high quality. MEAT ASSORTMENT We ordered wagyu and several cuts of beef, all sliced beautifully and extremely fresh. Everything cooked quickly and soaked up the broth in the best way. SPICY HAMACHI BOMB ROLL This roll with torched hamachi, eel sauce, and mango was delicious and added a nice sushi moment in between the hot pot. NOODLE ASSORTMENT We tried the handmade noodles and sweet potato noodles, both were an epic addition and perfect for finishing the meal as the broth got richer. FRIED VANILLA ICE CREAM Crispy on the outside and cold in the center, it was the perfect sweet ending. Perfect way to end a chilly evening during this soup season.

Visually - the restaurant is beautiful and they present ingredients really well - especially the hot pot displays. I was super impressed. Food wise - the meat we ordered for hot pot was super yummy, the Tom Yum broth was flavorful, and the sauce bar had a lot of options so you can make your own dipping sauce to your liking. The KBBQ was ok, I was more impressed by the hot pot. If I were to come back, I would try their sushi. The menu is very extensive - wish they offered AYCE option a long with the a la carte, but overall great experience!

I started with the Gyoza. The owner/chef advertised these as home-made, and it definitely shows. The dough is delicate, and the meat and vegetable inside are balanced and nicely seasoned. I think there are a few glass noodles thrown in for texture as well. The Dolsot Bibmbop was great! It came out on a sizzling, hot stone bowl and had flavorful and tender meat and a wide assortment of veggies. Everything was cooked just right, and had a spot-on amount of seasoning/salt/spice. I also loved how the rice on the hot stone came out with a lovely crunch! Finally, we eat with our eyes (though some Yelpers eat with their cameras) and visually it was colorful, and could beat out some works of contemporary art, if I may say so! Where it comes to the Banchan, I am much less thrilled. All but one of these had a hefty dose of an overpowering, fiery, and heavily acidic sauce. Thus, it made 4/5 of these variations on a theme. Service-wise: When I visited, it appeared to be a one-woman army. One person appeared to be the owner, chef, and server in one! She was friendly, kind, and there wasn't a hefty wait for the food. On the flip-side though, doing my research I find that some questions were left unasked. This includes if I wanted to gyoza steamed or fried, and what protein I wanted with the bibimbop. Value-wise, I find their prices are reasonable, especially considering the filling portions. Thus, while nothing was mind-blowing, I found the food tasty and authentic and the value reasonable. While the service was very welcoming, it would've been nice to have been asked about the options in the menu. Last, the Banchan was enough of a miss that if I return, I will ask to skip them.

We walked up to a straightforward counter setup within the busy food hall, where the menu offers a good variety of traditional Korean comfort foods that make it an easy place to grab a quick meal while shopping or if you are craving something simple and filling. The shared seating area nearby makes it convenient to sit and enjoy your meal, though the overall experience is more about the food than the atmosphere. We tried a variety of the snack items, and overall the food was decent. The kimbap was freshly made with a good amount of filling, the rice holding together well and the vegetables and meat adding a balanced texture. The tteokbokki had a flavorful sauce with the chewy texture you would expect, and the heat level was noticeable without being overwhelming. Everything tasted well prepared, but nothing particularly stood out enough to make us want to go out of our way to order it again.
