Love coming here since it first opened in 2022! The quality of the food has always stayed consistent. The environment feels very homey, many families eat here on the weekend. The service is attentive too, they refill our water without having to ask and provide extra napkins. Omg probably my new favorite restaurant in the area! I've driven by this place so many times! And finally had the opportunity to visit! Street parking is either one-hour or two-hour, so read the signage! The food was amazing! I love a good bowl of rice noodle, and glad they offer the option where you pour all the condiments yourself. Definitely wish the side condiments can be better in serving size. (Like, two or three quail eggs would've been nicer than one! Also, more corn please!) They also offer a solid selection of authentic appetizers like beef tripe or popcorn chicken. It came out fast and was high quality. Bubble tea selection is also great! Indoor seating is bright and spacious. They do get very busy after 12:30 pm or so, and service gets busy from there/server may forget your request. By 1 PM, there was a line at the door. First and foremost, it arrived in a large ceramic bowl with its own heat source, keeping the soup piping hot. I've been to Dagu twice and the first time I was there, I went around three in the afternoon and there wasn't a wait, but I went to Dagu on the weekend for lunch and it was really busy! For my party of five, there was a roughly 30 minute wait which wasn't too bad. When you first enter, the staff gives you a little device to let you know when your table is ready. When your table is ready, you'll get seated right away. This place is somewhat no frills. They'll start rearranging the tables to accommodate a larger group or they'll move tables for smaller parties. For how busy the restaurant was, the service was pretty good. It was definitely bustling with movement and noise, but in a good way. The food was really good. I got the bang bang chicken with rice, the noodle with the bone, and the crispy chicken. Of all the dishes, my favorite was the bang bang chicken and the noodle soup. The soup tasted refreshing and there was also a good amount of noodles in the bowl. I'm always down to try bridge noodles, so I was excited to see what Dagu's take was. I got the original crossing the bridge noodles and got beef as an add-on (it's not included). Strangely, the extra beef is fewer pieces (4) than the default beef comes with the tomato broth version (6). In any case, the broth was way too porky for me, and the toppings were also pretty lackluster. I tried the spicy broth and it was better because the spice masks the porkiness. I wouldn't recommend the original. I much prefer a chicken broth bridge noodle soup. The fried chicken breast cutlet was amazing! It was perfectly crunchy outside and so tender inside, with clean flavors. I would go back just for this. It was even good cold, when we finished off the leftovers in the car. The cucumber salad was pretty good but nothing special. Overall I wouldn't come back to this place other than to maybe get the chicken cutlet to go. Reviews like this are tough for me. Even where I castigate every fiber of an eatery, I try to be fair. In the case of this place, this kind/style of food is new to me, and there may be some things I need to be taught about. Please forgive me, and feel free to correct me. I stopped in on a whim; I was hungry and saw it was moderately full, which is often an indicator of a good place. That may be, but their offerings are likely not for me. I ordered a Rice Noodle Soup with BangBang Chicken. For appetizers, a Traditional Marinated Egg and the Tossed Diced Cucumber with Garlic Sauce. The soup was brought out with a full, rolling boil. This was served with cold rice noodles and cold bang bang chicken on the side. This is by design, as I understand it. Some people add soup to the noodles, and some (like me) add noodles to the soup! Similarly, the chicken can be added to the soup or enjoyed independently. The chicken was with bones, though based on the video looping on their TV, this is par for the course. For the record, I am not a fan of cold chicken or bones, though I didn't let this affect the review. My issue is with the soup itself. The broth had just a tiny bit of seasoning to differentiate it from hot water, but not enough to keep it from being very bland. The chili sauce on the chicken did help elevate the broth a bit, though this should be an enhancement to flavor, not the taste itself. The chicken was okay, nothing to write home about. As for other additions, they are in the minimum possible amount. I don't remember all of them, but I recall that the massive bowl had one quail egg as an illustrative example. The Traditional Marinated Egg was a failure for me. Instead of soft, heavenly goodness with a gooey interior, this thing has spent five minutes past a hard boil. The tossed Diced Cucumber w/ Garlic Sauce was pleasant in its contrast and freshness. However, while I did enjoy the sauce, I found there was too much of it. The final thing I ordered was a Classic Brown Sugar Milk with Boba. This one didn't have any tea within (oops, my bad), but it was still solid. It isn't all doom and gloom. I do have some positive feedback! The service here is phenomenal. It is kind, very attentive, and faster than I would have hoped or expected. The value is also excellent. I got the B4 Mushroom soup and thought it was a nice clean broth but could have used some more flavor. Wifey and I have been wanting to check out this spot for a few months now because it looked interesting and it's usually busy so it must be popular. We were able to get a table without an issue on a Friday night but I think we got in just before the dinner rush. They have some rice plates, a single person hot pot type of dinner set, and a noodle soup. Since we had hot pot last night, we went for the noodle soups. Wifey got the spicy beef in bone broth and I got the signature pork with the bone broth. For the noodle dishes, they serve the noodles separate from the soup. It's not a style where you dip your noodle but I presume it is so your noodles don't overcook because it is in an extremely hot ceramic bowl, something resembling a slow cookers pot. If you're hungry, you can get additional bowl of noodles for free. This was something new, so we were excited but unfortunately let down with the flavor or lack there of. Most Chinese soups are very simple so there is very little room for error and unfortunately Davi's signature broth missed the mark. The dish was a little clunky with a gigantic piece of pork on the bone that could've use a little more time so it would be fall off the bone tender. If it was tender, the pork would be easier to eat and certainly more enjoyable. For wifeys soup, it was quite spicy in the beginning but you get used to it with time but it was one dimensional. It was a mama hot, which is a schezuan peppercorn that numbs your mouth. We also got dessert, the ice taro ball with jelly and red bean. It was fine, wifey was expecting small bits of tarp but it was more like taro boba. The staff is probably one of the most hard working staff you will see. They are buzzing around trying to turn tables over as fast as humanly possible. If I owned a restaurant, I'd try to poach their staff. The restaurant is clean and the bathrooms were super clean.
