Was a customer for years and finally decided to cancel my membership as I was finding it increasing difficult to make the appointments. When I cancelled my membership I had several credits. I was told I had 90 days. Just called for my final service that I missed by 4 days and was told I was out of luck even though I had prepaid. Very disappointed and feel it is just greed. Worst facial experience. After I got my facial done, my skin started burning. By night I had burnt spots all over my face. It was so hard to get an appointment from them to check my face. I had to budge myself in next day. On top of that there was no ownership shown for the damage done. The lady who did my facial didn't show up and I was questioned if my face was like that before the facial? I argued back saying would they recommend a facial on a skin which is burning and badly damaged and won't there be a written record in the form if there was. There was no courtesy shown to refund money or to apologize for the mistake done. Extremely cold attitude. I came back with few sample moisturizers. The 50 minute massage was good but I would not agree to the foot scrub again. It was really nice and I enjoyed it, but with a 50 minute massage it cuts into the massage time on the rest of the body by 10-15 minutes. I really wanted my upper & lower back worked on the most, and secondarily my legs and arms. So I left with the same knot in my shoulder and pain in my lower back. My wife and I wanted to try a new massage place after a membership at Massage Envy to potentially join but after coming here, it's just not worth it!! Absolutely ridiculous that you can't honor the introductory rate with a couples massage!! The two masseuse that we had we're definitely new and had no idea what they were doing since we both left in more pain and stress than what we had prior. Avoid this office - I had a great massage there a few months ago and immediately made a new appointment before leaving. The next day I was told that the appointment was cancelled as they were not available that day. I called today after receiving an email that the therapist had openings today but the receptionist told me that he did not. I asked to speak to the manager who got on the phone and told me that the therapist refused to treat me again after my first visit. When they came in to the room before starting the massage they pointed out an attention button to me and he said I said I hope I never have to use that. What I remember saying is oh wow I never knew that was there no one ever pointed it out to me before. ( I have had many many appointments there ) Needless to say I am appalled that a therapist could black list a client for something like this and it isn't even what happened. Management never reached out to me to ask my side, they just kept telling me he wasn't available but then sent emails saying he had openings. I don't know if he misunderstood what I said or he didn't think my 20% tip was big enough or what but having been a client for along time and no other "issues"with other therapists management should have handled this very differently. . read more

I had a horrible experience getting a one hour massage with Norbert. He is extremely rude and will manipulate you into adding services that you did not ask for. He asked what kind of pressure I would like and I said medium to firm. He laughed in my face and said no male therapists will provide medium to firm pressure unless you are having a deep tissue. He then spent the entire session hurting me (it seemed intentional) and focusing on areas that I did not need massaged. I honestly felt like stopping the entire massage and going home to relax instead. I have been in pain for days since the massage. When I explained the situation to the front desk, they acted like I was the first to ever complain about him. They then tried to charge me for a deep tissue massage even though I did not schedule that type of massage or ask him to apply that add on. It seems like they are trying to trick customers into every add-on. I will be finding a new place for massages! read more

I stopped into hand and stone this morning where I was able to make a same day appointment for 90 minute massage with Gigi. Being able to get a same day appointment should have been my first warning sign because very good massage therapists are usually fully booked in advance. When I arrived at my appointment I was made to wait 35 minutes. There was no urgency at the desk to find out what was causing of the delay, I was not offered anything to drink and most importantly , no apology was given. Finally, now 35 minutes late for my appointment to begin, I was told that they made a mistake and they would not be able to give me my massage because there was another appointment scheduled after mine with someone else. Why I, the client actually sitting there, was told they could not keep my appointment but the person after me, who had not arrived but was apparently more important, would get their scheduled appointment I do not know. This was the first and LAST time I will be at Hand and Stone. Do not bother with this business. Awful experience! They wasted my time and have no idea what customer service is. This is one of the worst spas I have ever been to. I was having trouble with a new medication and the staff was not only insensitive to my condition but when I left some of belongings at their facility never returned them to me. The owner claimed she 'mailed' a very expensive piece of jewelry to me. I would not trust the owner nor the staff. truth be told you go to a spa to relax and unwind, I had a unfortunate medical emergency that the staff dealt with in an embarrassing manner. I came here over the weekend and they were very nice and welcoming. My hour facial turned out to only be 40 minutes- I think she took advantage of the fact that I fell asleep (I had a long Friday night). I didn't see any difference to my skin and the lady charged me an extra $20 bucks for 'sensitive skin'. My facial turned out to be around $70. I've had better in the city.. but then again.. this isn't the city. I would say this place is OK, nothing too spectacular and the prices aren't very reasonable for what you get. read more

My husband and I each had a massage here recently and both are massages were just OK. I explained to my therapist that I have a huge knot in my back (that even friends of mine can find in 10 seconds because it is that big) and would love for her to work on that mainly. She said she couldn't find the knot. In the whole 50 minute session, she never once hit the "money" spot. When I booked, I asked for a deep tissue focusing on this area and there was nothing deep about this. I kept waiting for the real massage to start and it never did. Not sure if she wasn't experienced or just wasn't my style. Figured it was just a mismatch but then I heard from my husband that his massage was equally unsatisfying, that she kind of pulled on the skin a little and should have used more oil. Definitely nothing to write home about. The spa itself was clean, had nice decor and the staff was friendly and attentive. I've been to top spas around the world.I never expected my experience be as incredible at Hand and Stone as it was.Reggis is excellent.She helped me with stomach issues,is very talented,kind and and a wonderful massuse.I went back to see her twice my first week,My husband and I have a couples massage booked for Monday.Oh course I wanted Reggie but she doesn'r work at that hour of the day.She offered to come in especially for me.What a lovely woman that knows her "stuff" I wil lbe back frequently.I hope the person that works with my husband is as terrific as Reggie..but Reggie is hard to top.From beginning being greeted by Megan till the time i left. I felt amazing ..too good. I've had two facials and a massage here, and all of it was a great experience. I bought the monthly package and it pushes me to book some regular appointments for myself so I can nurture my skin and work out the trigger points in my shoulders and back. I cannot speak of any other therapist but my experiences with both Sharama and Lester for messages have been the best I have had, hands down! . It's hard to get a last minute spot with them but its worth putting a little effort in and scheduling in advance. Sharama is strong and thorough and you feel magnificent leaving. Lester does an amazing job, but I tell him he should specialize in legs. I leave there and think that felt so good I'm just going to have my legs done next time. But I don't he is also great at the whole body! I am sure there are other great therapist here, but you won't regret booking with either of these two therapist. Anthony and Maria are my facial and massage team here. Anthony applied just the right amount of pressure for my knots and kept the communication up during the process to make sure. He is amazing and takes all my pain away. Maria pays very close attention to my skin and is completely tuned in to any products she should avoid or will help problem areas. I have sensation skin ai this is tricky. Standard Covid measures taken. A call first before entering the facility, temp taken, masks on. The staff here is just delightful to work with. I accidentally dropped cash in the restroom, received a call from the girls up front explaining they figured it was mine and put it aside for my daughter to pick up when she was there. I'm so grateful they are there to go to in a time where there is so much stress and pressure around all of us. read more

I had a good experience at Hand and Stone in Bedminster. The spa I usually frequent is closed on Mondays, so I decided to give H&S a try. Making the appointment was easy and when I arrived, the check in process was smooth. The waiting area was a bit small, but it was quiet and clean. The massage itself was fantastic. The room had good temperature control, the music was nice and the space was very clean. It was quiet as well (it wasn't very busy when I was in). I've had many massages before, but this was my first hot stone and I really enjoyed it. Naveen, my massage therapist, checked in with me throughout to make sure the temperature and pressure were good. I also appreciated that before I left, no one was pushy about booking another appointment or getting a membership. I was happy with my massage as well as the experience overall and I would return. read more

I had the worst massage today. The girl gave me only 40 minutes instead 50. She gave me a small hot hand towel at the end of the service and told me that I should wipe off the oil myself. I started coming here in August to see if massages would help ease my migraines. Not only did they do that, but it has been helping me de-stress in an amazing way from work! Naomi is my massage therapist and she is wonderful. I hadn't thought about this until I read Alissa P's review - but she is right, the walls could stand a little buffering. I like quiet during my massage, but during the last two I could hear people in the room next to me and across the hall. No stars... I had one of the most ineffective and unprofessional massages today with wai. She actually massaged me for a total of 10 minutes. The rest of the time she put pressure on an area in my neck, asked me if I felt pain there, then if I did, told me to take a deep breath, then she asked me if it still hurt. She said it was her job to find the trigger points and my job to release the pain. While I understand people may hold onto pain that does not serve them and that healing is a two way street, I came for a massage because I have a knot so big and deep in my neck/ shoulder area, that u needed work on. She continued to ask me every thirty seconds if I felt pain in each area until I finally just said " can you please just massage the area? It all hurts!", then about 5-6 minutes later she randomly started working on a hamstring issue I had told her I had, and very unskillfully massaged my legs for maybe two minutes total, then went back to my upper back. Furthermore, she didn't use enough oil so it felt very unpleasant. Then she covered me with the sheet and kind of shook me which was awkward and unsettling... Then she had the nerve to say "wow, looks like your fifty minutes are just about up, that went pretty fast!" Really?! That's exactly what you want to hear at the end of a massage! And totally false advertising bc it was my first time there and they say the introductory offer was for an hour... Worst waste of money of my life... When I complained at the front desk they did nothing for me and said she is one of their best masseuses with ten years experience! If you want a good massage go to Tru Salon in Branchburg. read more

I had a horrible massage from a young kid, I think his name was Kirk. I asked him to work on just my back and all he did was work out the knots on my back for an hour and then the massage was over. It was very disappointing and not at all relaxing. I know it's not the store it is the masseuse you get. Make sure you do not get him. Also, they tried to charge me $89 for the massage when they have a web promotion for $49 so watch out and be mindful of that. read more
