I will start out by simply saying MIRACLES happen here! This is not your typical PT shop where the therapist teaches you certain exercises and sends you home with a home care plan and you HOPE to feel better! I was referred to HOPT back in 2002 after the birth of my daughter. After her traumatic birth I felt like I had a broken tailbone and it was very hard to sit without a donut pillow. I went the traditional medical route of taking pain killing drugs and having cortisone injections (which were more painful than the actual pain). I had been to chiropractors and deep tissue massage therapists as well. Nothing worked for me. When I first went to HOPT they talked to me about pelvic floor dysfunction and pelvic floor myofascial release. Although I thought it was a little weird to have them work "there", I began treatment and one day my therapist (F.E.) pressed on a particular spot in my pelvic floor that reproduced the pain I had felt in my tailbone. After releasing that spot, my tailbone pain went away and has continued to be gone. I have continued to have issues every time my pelvis gets out of alignment. Symptoms relieved from a pelvic alignment have been things like plantar fasciitis (feels like you step on a sharp rock near the heal), sciatica (shooting pains down my hips and legs), and more recently sacroiliac joint dysfunction. I had the sciatica while I was pregnant with my son and received treatment all during my pregnancy. In all cases these symptoms have stemmed from misalignment of my pelvis. And for me it seems to get out of whack about every 4 years or so....and now....I know exactly where to go and what to have them do! I even asked if "that guy" they press had a name. For me it always seems to be the obturator internus. Good thing I know! And they arm me with home care techniques I can do on my own to help maintain my treatments. Ask them about how those little yellow balls can help you! My mom received a miracle there as well. She had a complete shoulder replacement and ended up with her arm and hand swollen to about 3 times the normal size. She went to a lymphedema specialist for over a month and in the end the doctor said she would have to live with this condition for the rest of her life. I didn't believe that and I begged her to seek a second opinion from HOPT and within a few treatments they found a spot in her upper chest to release and all the fluid drained and has never returned. I wish to publicly thank the professionals at HOPT including Jody, Michael, Katrina, F.E., Kristie, Erin, Pattie, and Lori for their healing hands. First, let me say that there should be an option for 10 stars, this place completely deserves it... I found this location out of shear luck, and I can say that I am no less than blessed for having found them. I have seen three therapists so far amidst my visits. Everyone makes a concerted effort to treat my body for my injury, but they also want to make sure, that I am treated not only physically but emotionally as well. Years ago I would've been ashamed to say that I cried in front of a stranger much less another man, but in just these past few weeks I've done both and the staff at Hands On has been steadfast in letting me know that it's OK to let go of these frustrations (regarding my permanent change of life) and emotions in that manner. I am a patient at Hands on PT & have been for about 4 months. I started here because I was in so much pain I could not walk more than 100 feet, stand for more than 10minutes, and when I tried to turn around I had to do it in 8 small steps like a 15 year old driving for the first time doing a 8 point turn trying to get into a tight parking spot. I was bedridden basically and my condition showed no improvement IN OVER TWO MONTHS. I'm a 28 year old active healthy adult, I was terrified my injury was perminant and I was to be stuck in a bed forever. It was miserable. I originally went to an orthopedic doc/surgeon who took MRI & Xray's and basically said she couldnt find a reason for my pain and suggested exploratory surgery. I was recommended to hands on finally by my chiropractor that I see semi-regularly but after the new injury he said that it was out of his hands. HANDS ON ABSOLUTLEY SAVED MY LIFE!!! After about 1 month I was able to walk around the block and make dinner and do my basic living necessities and not be a total burden on my wife. After 2 months I was able to get back to doing office work that had been building up for a few hours a day(I own my own cleaning business). After 3 months I started getting back in a work truck and being able to work some and supervise some staff and actually start bringing in money again. Now 4 months in, I can work about 30 hours a week mixed between office work and physical labor and am improving greatly every week. Considering I had ZERO improvement in over two months before my appointment, where I am now is no short of a miracle. I feel like I have hope for the future again, I feel more like myself again, I feel like I have my LIFE BACK! As a long-time, extremely happy customer, I can't believe there aren't more reviews for HOPT. This place is NOT your average PT clinic. It is an absolutely AMAZING group of the most loving, caring, HANDS ON therapists you will ever come across. HOPT uses myofascial release to work on restoring the connective tissue of the body. I have been a patient here since 2004 for chronic pain conditions and this place truly makes me feel whole again each and every time I visit. Each wonderful therapist has their own speciality - some are gentle and soft and others work the muscles deeply with great strength. I won't name my favorite, because mine may not be yours. Having bounced through PT mills for the last 10 years with continued back pain I'm painfully aware of the standard PT protocol. When my last myofacial therapist retired I thought I was out of luck and back to 10 mins on a bike, 5 mins of stretching and 5 mins of core work with 40 mins of waiting for the PT to work with someone else. Fortunately my wife found Hands On Physical Therapy. They focus on individual care to provide relief and prevention through muscle conditioning, myofacial release and an incredible knowledge of the human body. My favorite therapists are Katrina and Lisa. Katrina can find the tension and pain in your body with seemingly a look. I am not one to write reviews but I was thinking recently, AGAIN, about how much Hands On Physical Therapy means to me and has become an integral part of my life. And, I have also recently encountered some folks looking for the kind of services Hands On provides. It is difficult to know what services are right for you, especially if you are relocating to a new area. I have suffered for years with various pains throughout my entire body and have been seen by doctors and therapists of all stripes - each trying to find something that fit into their textbook learning. I finally found Hands On and my comfort level has increased exponentially since that day approximately 4 years ago. I now keep an appointment at least once a month for maintenance (MY DECISION). Hands On is a small, quaint office that feels comfortable the moment you step into the front door. Every employee is genuinely interested in you as a person and does all they can to make your visit a success. To me it feels like an extended family. The therapists at Hands On are thoughtful and attentive. They have an uncanny ability to apply their knowledge of science with their strong and accurate intuition which makes your body happy and pain free. Through your visits, you will learn how to take care of yourself to make your body cooperate with you to accomplish what you need it to do. You will also learn simple stretches and actions which you can do on your own to give you immediate relief. My issues mostly stem from a fall I had from a two story deck some years ago. Patti has been my primary therapist at Hands On and together we have dealt with pinched nerves from stenosis, achilles tendonosis, sciatica, neck, shoulder and arm pain, and extreme muscle tightness. Angels from Heaven! That is what the therapists at Hands On are to me! Having gone through 3 major back surgeries within 6 months, I was thinking that my life as I knew it before the surgeries was gone forever. I thought I was going to be in this black hole of depression and suffering for the rest of my life. Not being able to walk without excruciating pain and a limp, not being able to sit or stand for more than 5 minutes, not being able to drive, go on vacations with my husband and 4 kids, not being able to attend any of their school events, not being able to be the wife and mom I use to be before November 2012 was what I thought it would be like from now on. I had a back surgery on November of 2012 to release a tethered cord, which left me with a big bubble of spinal fluid on my lower back and being bed-red for 6 months with the most horrific spinal fluid headaches all day and all night. Going to the emergency room 4 times, just hoping they would admit me and give me morphine until I was totally healed was what I wished for, but all they would do was give me one shot of morphine, tell me to drink caffeine and send me home no relief in site. 6 months later, I finally found another surgeon that would try his best to put me back the way I was before that dreadful day. 2 back surgeries within 6 days finally did the trick. But as a result of taking away the spinal fluid bubble and headaches, I was left with the worst sciatic nerve pain on my right leg and lots of numbness on my left leg. My doctor told me to look for some physical therapy to help with the pain. I called two physical therapy offices here in Round Rock and reading the great reviews from Hands On, was why I chose them and I thank God everyday that I did! I remember walking into their office with so much pain and wondering if this would be the place for me. I just wanted to feel somewhat normal again. I wanted to be a mom and wife again! My therapist, Patti, gave me this feeling of incredible comfort and excitement at the same time! I told her my struggles I had been through for the past 9 months and she just smiled at me and said "I can help you!!!" All I could do was cry with the hopes that she could really do it! An hour later, I rose from the table and was in total shock of how incredible I felt! My pain was about 50% gone in just that one session. She gave me my life back that day! Needless to say, I cried even more, this time it was happy tears! I gave her the biggest hug and told her she was my Angel sent to me from God! I have had the pleasure of working with most of the PTs in that office and all I can say is they are all ANGELS blessed with the most healing hands ever!! Due to work I was having some lower back pain, I have been going to a Chiropractor in Round Rock and my wife laughed at me and said that I was wasting "our money" She said that what I really needed was some physical therapy. She had a great personal experience with Hands On Physical Therapy and recommended that I give them a shot. The last time I had any PT was many moons ago from a high school football injury. But I decided to give it a go- WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!! I am so glad that I did. Jody, Michael, Erin, and the rest of the staff had me feeling great in a matter of no time. Very easy going, great conversations, professional, caring, etc, etc. Hands On PT uses Myofascial Release (MFR) to treat you. I will be honest, it was a little bit strange to wrap my head around it all at first, but after experiencing first hand how wonderful it is. I couldn't be happier with the way that I feel, so much happier in fact, that I have actually taken some of the MFR classes that Hands On PT has offered to learn some of the techniques for use at home. I have seen Dr. Casey Hughes, Ashley and Patty so far for my physical therapy. I would recommend them all, as they all are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely nice ladies. I came to Hands On by reccomendation of my OB. I had a 3 cm diastasis recti due to my 2 giant babies (9lbs, 14 oz and 9lbs. 12 oz respectively). I currently have a gap of 2 cm, as my therapy is ongoing. I have been going for treatments for a little over a month thus far. The excercises and stretches are all relatively simple to perform (just tough to find the time with 2 little ones). Even with my inconsistencies in my routine (I probably only get about 2/3 of the excercises that I should be doing at home in), I am seeing results. read more

Hands on, is hands down, the best physical therapy clinic I've ever been to. All of the therapists are expertly trained and fabulous. They listen, but also know how to help you. It is a very different format in that they spend an hour with you, in a private room, using manual therapy to heal you. They also strive to get you to the point of home maintenance. Katrina is my go to PT, and I've seen her for ten years for a variety of issues. I actually drive to round rock from west Austin, because she is that good. I can perhaps add some reality check to the reviews for this place. I had an ok experience. Appointments were easy to schedule. I went for treatment of my dislocated shoulder. Therapists were friendly. The facility is nice and hygienic. Seemed more of a massage and meditation spa than physical therapy. The office staff verified my insurance and it was all valid , but still wanted my social security saying it was "office policy" didn't seem justified to me. Now the therapist session. Although it was my first session, I still felt they spent a lot of time just asking questions and filling out surveys during the appointment. They boasted about a "myofacial" technique which didn't resonate with me and seemed a marketing hoax for the most part. I didn't feel anything special in the actual therapy session. The therapist took several measurements but didn't make it clear that how they will be used in my treatments. I made it clear in my goals for the session that I wanted to learn exercises that would help restored strength. When I asked for some guidance, I was told to come back 2-3 times before they could teach me exercises. I had done significant online research to know I was ready for that therapy. All I could conclude from their response was they wanted me to show up for more appointments just to make money. Consequently, I won't be returning. read more

I am currently going through a bitter divorce. My stress and anxiety took the form of insomnia and what felt like hot steak knives in my back...24/7 for 2 months. I had tried exercise, breathing meditation, hot Epsom salt baths, reflexolgy paired with deep tissue massage 2-3 times a week to try anything to cure this. I have a great Tempuredic bed and great pillows...why do I sleep every 3rd or 4th day for only a few hours? I was told about Myofascil release...I was a bit skeptical...but at this point what do I have to lose? I made an appointment with Patti *very personable*. No oils or in your panties kind of massage. More like presure points that had hurt and burned being gently and firm pressed on and held...for a good while. As she was working on my back I felt my arms and armpits burn and tingle...felt like I was being manhandled under them. Then I realized that those burning knots had released and Patti had said that the back was tied to the front under my arms...wow...I felt it release....Eureka! She suggested putting pillows under my back and knees...felt a bit weird the first night. But as she explained it helped open my chest and keep everything from curling back in...like a doodle bug. When I was done and walking out I was almost in tears for the pure pleasure of not having that pain...better than orgasimic. I went home took some Advil PM and slept for the first times in over 60 days...like a baby or like I once had. Thank you Patti for hearing my needs and knowing what to do. read more

I also cannot believe there are not more reviews. This is not your traditional PT place. They are so wonderful. I have seen each therapist and every single one is very talented. Using the focus on myofascial release they have helped me with neck and shoulder pain (much more than the traditional "lift small weights etc" PT ever did, and also with chronic low back and other pain. They are very caring and work hard to make sure you learn how to take care of yourself and do various therapies at home to augment your treatment. Such a wonderful group! Hopefully insurance companies will not destroy our abilities to utilize PT groups such as Hands On to help end our pain. Hands On is the best! read more

I have suffered with back pain most of my life and had been in and out of Chiropractic care since age 12. At age 40 I became pregnant and thought I would end up in a wheelchair due to my back issues. My chiropractor basically threw in the towel and referred me to a physical medicine, rehab, back specialist. One of the first things he did was to refer me to Hands On Physical Therapy. I was not pleased. As a nurse I had seen what PT could do in the hospital setting and felt sure this was going to be a waste of my time. He assured me that this place was different and that I needed to keep an open mind and give them a chance. My first appointment was spent answering questions that I THOUGHT were irrelevant and had nothing to do with my "problem area". Measurements were taken and some "hands on work "was done. I made my next appointment wondering if it would all be worth it and the rest, as they say, is history!! I am now 57 and can tell you these people are very intuitive and nothing short of miracle workers! The myofacial technique they use is no joke or marketing hoax. I have never met John Barns, who teaches this in Sedona, but he must be a genius. In the past all the therapists at Hands On trained under him and his program. Some even teaching beside him. I have been successfully treated for bulging disks, carpal tunnel, joint hypermobility, start to finish through a second pregnancy, urinary incontinence (gynecologist wanted to treat with drugs), achilles tendonitis, double mastectomy with reconstruction. No matter what I have faced they have gotten me through. I have also had both of my children treated for things you wouldn't believe. My first child seemed to have come in the world with chronic sinus and ear infections. Doctors said that she was too young to be tested for allergies so she seemed to be living from one antibiotic and decongestant to the next. Hands On was telling me they could help. The doctors dismissed any thought of PT helping. I found a doctor who understood what they were trying to do and wrote the RX. Nearly 2 years of no infections and at age 3 we stopped to see how she would do. Within a few months she had a horrible sinus and ear infection and wound up having her tonsils and adenoids removed. The ENT insisted that it was coincidence that she had done so well while in therapy. She was tested for allergies and we found she had many. I put her back in PT till she was brought up to maintenance with the shots. The other child was born with pretty bad reflux. The medication did nothing. Our pediatrician wrote the script to be seen but didn't believe we would see any results. She had seen what PT did for my other daughter so she was willing to give it a chance. She was shocked when after a few treatments the reflux was gone. My husband has had wonderful results as did my father after a massive stroke. I have been seen by different therapist while being a patient for the same specific problem and have found it very helpful as they all have a little different way of approaching and delivering treatment. I have never found or felt that they were not all working in harmony with my diagnosis. I think someone compared the office to a spa and massage center. Nothing is further from the truth. I can understand if someone has only experienced traditional physical therapy and thought they knew all they needed to know about PT, why they would think "massage", but I assure you IT IS NOT AT ALL THE SAME. I have learned so much about my body since I have been in and out of therapy. It is an education I never got in nursing school. I would also add a note regarding Tammy. She knows insurance and works very hard to make it work for you. She handles all the insurance issues and I can assure you it is no easy task. She does everything possible to get the insurance to cooperate with covering the treatment plan but when they shut you down there is really nothing anyone can do. Unfortunately insurance many times dictates how many times a patient can be seen and more and more frequently hardly compensates for what has been done. Frankly, having worked in the medical field for years, I am shocked they still take insurance knowing how awful and how much work is involved to get any kind of payment. I have never, ever, once in all these years felt that they were only after and/or about the money. As wonderful as the folks at Hands On are, they have to make a living just like everyone else. If you miss an appointment and it is not an emergency, you should pay. If you take a space and then no show they can't fill it and they make no money. Again you should pay. Erin made a huge difference in my mild Interstitial Cystitis after just two sessions. Now, after seeing her longer, I think she will be able to fix it entirely and make me normal again. That's a staggering thought for a condition that is considered chronic, with very few treatment options...incredible. Erin is the third PT I've seen in Austin for IC. She's made me realize that PTs are all extremely different in philosophy and treatment approach. My first PT assigned me homework exercises that I now believe made my condition much worse. I saw the second PT for 6 months with no results, even though I was diligent with the homework exercises. The first two PTs also had a businesslike demeanor. In contrast, Erin is very warm. She immediately made me feel that she cared about me, and really wanted to help me. Can I first say, they were "Hands On" from my first call to the office. They did a great job with insurance verification, and appointment reminders. The office staff is professional, friendly and willing to answer ALL my questions. I went in for what I thought was a back injury, and another injury from my PM doctor. They soon discovered it was another area that was causing all the pain, and instructed me on what to do to manage the pain in other areas. The at home stretches are almost daily for me now. I have been going to Hands on Physical Therapy to treat my rather severe arthritis, and I can say without a doubt - I cannot recall ever feeling better. They have a nice studio with separate treatment rooms, but I was disappointed in the treatment I received. The lady who I made the appointment with said my insurance would cover the visit when I made the appt. So I was rather upset when they sent a bill saying the ins. didn't cover their charges.
