The technician took one look and smiled. "There really shouldn't be a glued-on end cap with a tight grill on it. These tend to back up and clog." "No way. Not already," I replied. "Would you like me to check?" he asked. A few minutes later, after attempting to pry it off with a screwdriver, the cap ultimately had to be cut off with a Sawzall. What was waiting inside? Inches of roof shingle granules, debris, and enough gunk to completely prove my engineering theory wrong. In about five minutes, A+ solved the mystery that I had mentally escalated into a full-scale drainage reconstruction project. To their credit, they graciously cut off the other problematic caps as well and explained why they were destined to clog. No upsell. No unnecessary work. Just an honest diagnosis and a simple fix. As I stood there processing the fact that my "catastrophic drainage failure" was really just a blocked outlet, the technician smiled and said, "Bring on the rain." And with that, he was off. Was my ego slightly bruised? Absolutely. Did A+ save me from chasing an expensive problem that didn't actually exist? Also absolutely. I only wish I had called them first. The estimator recommended replacing the existing gutters around the entire house with a larger size ($10-12K) - completely ignoring the root cause of the issue. As this expense was outside our budget, his recommendation was to call back in a few years when I had enough money saved to pay for it!!! An immediate fix was needed... he reluctantly agreed to provide an estimate to relieve the affected gutter by adding a new downspout in a different location to connect with the underground drain line where it was flowing properly. I contacted two other gutter & drain companies and amazingly their first advice was to do the latter (add a downspout)... and both quotes came in less than half the cost I was quoted from A+ Gutters & Drains. Providing a cost-effective resolution was not in their best interest. Be aware!

However, some logistical issues and their handling of property damage have left us unwilling to use them for future home projects. A dumpster was left in our driveway during the project time, which we expected. However, we did not expect the dumpster to be left 4 days past the project completion date. Unfortunately, it was left over a long, rainy weekend which resulted in rust stains across our brand new driveway from where it was sitting and where it dripped as it was being pulled away. They did send a specialist out to address these stains but they weren't able to get most of them out after 6 hours of work. Jeremy offered to send a specialist out again to try another chemical on the concrete. This driveway is less than a year old, so we were not willing to add more chemicals and work to the driveway without working with the company who installed it. Jeremy insisted it would be fine and refused to compensate us for damage. He also claimed that not all of the rust stains were from them, which is simply not true. He has since stopped replying to our communication, so we are cutting our losses. We would have been a little more understanding if this damage occurred during the project time and/or if Jeremy was willing to discuss compensation rather than throwing more chemicals at it. While we love our new floors, unfortunately our driveway is now likely permanently stained due to them using our driveway as dumpster storage over a long rainy weekend. We were told that they'd come get it the day after the project was completed if their baseball games were cancelled, so it appears that these games took priority over moving their heavy equipment off our property. The interior work was amazing and we were hoping to use this company for some interior painting jobs in the future. However when they replaced my hot water tank several months…read moreago, unbeknownst to me, to make the new, larger unit fit, the tech shortened my washer drain. In doing so, the washer drain isn't tall enough anymore to properly drain, and there is a deeply curved 'trap', (that wasn't there before), that causes the water to rush back up and out of the drain. I had asked the tech at the time about all the 'left over' PVC pipe pieces, but he'd assured me it was from the old tank- when in fact it was actually my working washer drain that he'd removed and replaced with a shorter pipe, with a very curved 'trap'. He did this in order to make the new tank easier to install, he failed to reassemble the drain properly after removing it to install the tank. The back of the washer/drain/hoses/etc. are all in a separate room than the front of the washer. It's accessed clear on the other side of the house through a tiny door next to the fridge in the kitchen. I've went in there once to change my furnace filter months ago. I noticed the concrete floor was a bit 'damp', so I put a damp-rid in the room and thought nothing more about it- bottom line, my washer has been draining into this small utility room and flooding for months! There is actually mold on one of the wall studs now! I'd noticed my new flooring warping near the furnace intake vent, but couldn't understand why. It's the only place in the house that my new flooring is warped, chipping. I know now it's from the water leaking under the furnace in the utility room and seeping under the laminate flooring! Am I stupid for not realizing this sooner- yes, I admit I am. Is Discount Drains responsible for their tech tampering with, and ruining my washer drain- yes, yes they are! They are also responsible for the mold that occurred and the small area of warped flooring as a result of their mistake. I have contacted them, and I was told they are sending someone out to, "dispute the mold." Not a very courteous response at all! If they repair/replace the washer drain so it functions properly as it did before they ruined it, and address the mold they caused as well as replacing the affected floor boards, I will remove this post, however if they refuse to repair the washer drain that their tech ruined, and clean/repair the mold, replace flooring, I will have no choice but to litigate for damages and will continue to strongly suggest not doing business with this company! I trusted them to do the job right, and instead they caused damage to my home with their incompetence! I'm super disappointed both in their workmanship and response to my issue!

While it may seem odd to have a FaceTime quote, the process isn't that much different than someone who comes to your house and does a surface level check only to find out when they begin the work that things are more complicated than they seem. The good news about the process is that it helps expedite the process so our jobs were completed much more quickly than quotes from other companies (I.e. by the time the person schedules to come look, prepare a quote, and then schedule the project installation much more time has passed). Everyone we worked with was friendly, efficient, and professional. The bonus for us is that our second project was actually cheaper than they quoted because they found a much easier solution when they got behind the wall to see what had been covered up by previous owners.
