Super excited that my friend brought me out to climb at Hangar 18! I really enjoyed the environment, the people, and the music!!! Hangar 18 is a great place to workout, spend some quality time with friends, challenge yourself, try something new, and/or clear your mind! They have many different levels of intensity for bouldering and an extensive rock wall. I will definitely be returning.

The business has no sensitivity to its clients and guests. Overpriced. Cancelling membership is a challenge and management is not helpful.

Located in Riverside, this Hangar 18 has plenty of top rope and belay projects for fans to do. Parking is located in the front and toward the sides of the gym. There are two different doors you can enter from. The main door to scan for membership will be towards the sides with the gated parking spots. It was extremely hot and there isn't AC blasting in the climbing section. AC is available in the changing area and restrooms. There's also a lounging area, which is very unique. There was plenty of routes for climbers of all different types. As a fan of the slab wall, there wasn't much for me to do. In comparison to my home gym, we aren't allowed to sit on the mats at this location nor could we have our drinks on it. So do be mindful. Other than that, it was a unique experience, but I prefer my main location more.

Even though I bought a 70 meter rope just in case I did head out there, I was still wondering what it would be like. Ah, it's fine. The hike in is a little strewn with what looks like a badly broken apart mattress, and there is some graffiti on the rock, but otherwise the place is basically one long wall with lots of climbing. It is shaded in the morning with the sun hitting it around mid day, so be prepared for the heat of the IE to come bearing down on you. The climbs themselves are pretty good, though I have only done a few so far. There is loose rock, but in this day and age, you should be wearing a helmet when you are belaying (if not when climbing as well). The routes are all sport, with chains or rings set up for anchors and bolts placed fairly close together. I never thought I was running anything out when leading.

Well, the 30 min class turned out to be only a 5 min introduction to the rules of the rock climbing place and the only technique taught was how to fall. I have just pulled up the class description (see pic). Had I seen this while we were there, I would've spoken to a manager about this. This is not right at all. The instructor only spent 5 min with our kids. There was only so much the girls could do on their own with that inadequate 5 minute "lesson". It could have been a fun playdate if they were given more instructions so they could've done more than climbing up 3-4 steps on just the 2 easy routes. 1 star and not likely to return. You did not deliver what was promised and wasted our time and 25 bucks each. Poor business practice. Thumbs down.

Huge line at the front, I'd been there at least 45 minutes at that point. Then I saw this adorable microscopic font sign, super endearing You could have just told me you don't take walk-ins, instead of being brazenly rude. When clearly that policy isn't even enforced. Other patrons who also walked in didn't receive quite as much vitriol. I was told I'd have to test out, no biggie, but nobody else was told this. Nobody else was asked "do you climb?" with a whole lot of attitude. Yeah I climb, and I enjoy walking in here looking like a corporate loser about as much as you enjoy seeing it. Just wanted to change into jeans and a t-shirt and boulder a bit. Might go to some other hangar 18 location someday, but won't be enthused about it. Not a lot of options around. Saw the sign and left because they hadn't asked me to pay yet, and I'm not paying for that attitude.
