I came to Hangar 38 on a Saturday night about a month after the grand opening. Everything was still nice and had the new feel. About half of the building had arcade games and the other half 8 bowling lanes. And, it was great to have access to a full bar. We had a fairly large group (20-25) so we had reserved the one closed room on the far left of the building. Usually, you don't expect good food at a bowling alley but I was quite surprised. However, it did take a while to come out. That wasn't a big deal, as we all just played games and bowled some while waiting BUT I would hope that the kitchen has improved since then. We did reserve one bowling lane, but it was a bit of a challenge trying to bowl with so many people and have spectators. It's a tight squeeze on each lane, as there are only 6 seats on each side and not really a whole lot of room to move around. And, there is very limited seating behind the bowling lanes for spectators. Maybe because it was on a Saturday night and still fairly popular to try, but next time I don't think we will rent a bowling lane unless we have 6 people or less. Also, it might have been because it was still fairly new but the bartending staff seemed unorganized. If I could leave 3.5 stars, I would. I don't think the experience was enough for 4 to start off with, so I am going to leave a 3 for now. I am willing to go back to give it another shot and will update my review upon on my next return. read more

We went there for the opening. The AC was blasting on a hot and humid day... and that was so great! We sat inside, ordered each item of the opening menu and let me tell you...the food is spectacular! We loved every single dish, especially the fish dip's flavor (the dip was a bit dry but again, the flavor so good) mmmm!!! The only thing is that between the video-game noises and the loud pop-music, we felt a little overwhelmed. Maybe if the background music was more relaxing...both the genre and the volume, we would have stayed longer, order more drinks and food and even invite friends to join us. One more thing, everywhere you looked at, you can see the over staff, not really busy, just there, like a group of ants :) Overall, the concept is awesome, family, fun and nice food + drinks. We tried out Hangar 38 on a weekday for lunch. Tips: check their website for food/arcade deals. Order the sidewinder fries! Food was delicious. I had the regular hangar burger and it was fantastic! Burger was juicy, grilled well, and had "fancy" lettuce and special pickles that were unique. Kids chicken strips were amazing- definitely NOT from frozen. Better than Zaxby's in my opinion. Only slight negative- Kids burgers had a slight charred taste. Wait staff was courteous and helpful. Food came out quickly, but it was pretty slow. Games were fun! Did not try the bowling. read more

Update We went for another visit. One was a Monday night for dinner, the noise level was so much better!! I could actually hear the people at my table!! I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was ok. Another person at my table had the "lax BLT" she said it was good. I'll have to try that next time. Later in the week we were there again between lunch and dinner. Noise level was great! I had wanted a pizza with mushrooms, but they didn't have any. I asked for artichokes, but was also out... Ended up with just a pepperoni pizza. It was ok. Hopefully next time I can have mushrooms! After we ate,we did some bowling. In the hour we had to play we managed to play 2 1\2 games. I think the bowling cost is a little high. read more

My friends and I had a blast here! We started out at the bowling lanes, played a couple games and while drinking beer and eating appetizers. The service was really quick and congenial for how busy it was. When beers that I ordered were not available, we were given arcade passes. Hangar 38 provided an awesome experience. I was definitely impressed considering the establishment just opened and will not have its official Grand Opening until May 4. The bar service was stellar, it was busy but it was well staffed and everyone was attentive to patrons that had not been served. The food took a little longer to come, we had a party of 9, and I'm sure the kitchen is still getting acclimated so we didn't mind too much. Once the food arrived I can admit it was worth the wait. I had the pontoon sandwich, grilled snapper, it can be prepared blackened or fried. It was delicious and the potato wedges were tasty as well. Meredith was our server and she did an excellent job handling a relatively larger party. We were celebrating my husband's 35th and he enjoyed himself immensely. The arcade truly provided games for kids of all ages. The virtual reality, basketball connect four, and another motion ride were crowd favorites. We will have to bowl next time. Bowling is $30 an hour for a lane of 6 people an additional $4 shoe rental isn't bad at all. We'll definitely be back. read more

The drinks were a little expensive is really my only knock on the place. It was mine and my family's first time visiting. Our server was named Oliver, and he was amazing! He was so personable and knowledgeable; I started planning my next visit while we were still there! The food was great and the portions were good sized. We ordered the wings in mild Buffalo and the Hangar bourbon sauce-they were GREAT! We also ordered the appetizer sampler with the fried/glazed ribs, hot wings, and Shepard's pie egg rolls. I fell in love with the ribs! Holy cow! My husband scoffed down the egg rolls before I could touch them- so I guess it is safe to say they were delicious! (Insert SideEye!) The establishment was so CLEAN!! This is not your typical entertainment experience. Very cool game experiences. Today when kids can play anything they want at home, having cool VR options next to vintage favorites in larger than life form next to console favorites next to bowling...you hit all the buttons for a unique experience. Best part, big surprise on the food. This is not gaming center food. This is delicious, crafted, clever, and fresh. Most nights to an arcade or experience like this, as the adult you know you will sacrifice the cuisine. Not here! We had a large party so we had the opportunity to try so many plates. From the huge salads to the sliders, pasta, Amazing Mac and cheese, and fresh meats and cheeses. Because we were at one of their party rooms, we were assigned our own server, though the manager and even the maintenance personnel checked in on us the whole time. From setting up our room to keeping the drinks flowing and just really being attentive to our group, they made our day very special. Aside from a great night out for couples or families, I Highly recommend this for corporate team builders, mixers, and after hours events. I really wish we had a place like this where we live. I usually enjoy this place. Tonight I took my daughter and I wasn't that hungry so I just ordered a figure 8 pretzel. The Beer cheese was disgusting, it was congealed and tasted horrible I sent it back and they brought me a replacement with the consistency of water. Our overall total was $100+ just for two of us we both for a hour or so, the lanes were very small and the kids next to us took over our and there lane lol no mind the kid we're having fun the server jasmine was horrible and when we had a issue it was giving a oh well instead of asking or trying to own up to the issue or problem. I went to this place with extremely high hopes for a impromptu date with my girlfriend. The plan was to eat and then play games at the arcade and maybe speaks an hour there. After we were seated we sat there for about 20 minutes before anyone came to us. A server came up and asked us if we had been served yet. We told her no, then about 10 minutes later a waitress came out and brought us drinks and finally took our order. We ordered pizza and continued to talk. Another 20 minutes went past, at this point we were both frustrated and hungry because we envisioned eating taking about 30 minutes instead of an hour while we really wanted to play the arcade games. Finally they brought out our pizza which was burnt, we both ate enough to be content and then went on to play the games. The pizza was burnt so bad neither of us wanted a to go box to take it home. The games and the general atmosphere outside of the restaurant potion were fun though and that's why I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 0 or 1. read more

This place is really cool....depending on what you're after. It's a Dave & Busters style establishment. Very family oriented. Has a small bowling alley which is really cool. Lots of games for the kids. We had wings that were a little small but good. Decent beer selection. Waitress was excellent but the bar and kitchen were a little slow. Plenty of TV's to watch sports. If you have kids, mine are grown, I recommend highly. They'll love it. Really cool place to have a Bday party as well. But the place is really loud and lots going on so be ware. I would say for what the owners were after when the established this place, they nailed it. I recommend. Food was reasonably priced. Fun atmosphere. Something way overdue in Tallahassee. Great addition to the Tallahassee area. Bowling was a little expensive for 4 but it was nice to have a new, clean updated place to go. FYI- all businesses need time to perfect their service. While the atmosphere is not really my style the appetizers they offer are excellent. Came here on a pretty busy game night (football) and even though they were slammed we received our food pretty quickly. Our group ordered the Pretzel, Loaded Fries, and Shepherd's Pie egg rolls - all were fantastic. The Fries were amazing - borderline Potato Wedge/Steak Fries - and there was a good ratio between Fry and loaded goodness. The Egg Rolls were our 2nd favorite (however it was close tie!).
