AMAZING employees!! I had a great experience at Horizon's today....I ordered online for pickup and well, it took unusually long for it to be ready. I sat at the bar where you pick up and just waaaaited...Long story short, I was approached several times by 3 different employees who went above and beyond to apologize for the delay and explain the backup in the kitchen. This was a decent visit for our party of 8. We were seated promptly on a Saturday night. Our waitress was kind and relatively attentive. The atmosphere seemed pretty lowkey for an NCAA BBall Weekend. We had the lemon pepper wings and smoked dip for appetizers. The wings were especially delicious. Nice size and flavored to perfection. The dip was OK. Could compare it to your standard tuna fish. I had the steak salad. It was OK. Wayyyy to much dressing so consider asking for it on the side. My son's kids tenders and fries were yummy. My husband had the Wakulla Springs Chicken (think Outbacks Alice Springs chicken) prepared almost the exact same way. He didn't have much to say about it either way so neither do I. All in all I'd give them another try but considering I don't live near there it wouldn't be some place I'd go across town for. read more

We love eating at Horizons. We will usually have a hamburger, fries and a cold beer. Our drinks were brought quickly and shortly afterwards our food arrived. Our server, Angela, was very attentive and personable. For a Sunday afternoon, it was a great place to grab a bite and watch some sports on TV. My daughter and I visited tonight for Daddy/Daughter night, as she asked to go there. The staff that saet us was super nice and we had no wait. The waitress okay, not much of a talker and did not really intact with us. My daughter got the kids steak and it was cooked perfectly and her fries where great. I ordered the steak also, with mashed potatoes and onion rings, as the only veggie offer was broccoli, and I do not do broccoli. The mashed potatoes were old and where just a lump on my plate, you can tell they were no where freshly made. My streak was cooked correctly but very little flavor, if it was not for the seasoned butter it would have been plain. The onion rings were great. Had dinner with friends at Horizons; was my first time dining in the restaurant, though I had been planning to do so for a while. We were warmly greeted the moment we stepped foot in the restaurant and were seated almost immediately. Our waitress was wonderful! We started out with the fried green tomatoes and the smoked fish dip served with naan bread - though I mentioned to the waitress that Captain's Wafers crackers go hand in hand with fish/seafood dip! LOL! Lo and behold, the restaurant had some on hand! I ordered the shrimp tacos, my husband ordered the Royal Street shrimp; our friends ordered the Cajun Alfredo pasta and the Atlantic Salmon. We enjoyed our meals, and the vibes in the place were good; lively atmosphere but not overbearingly loud. We topped the dinner off with New York cheesecake (to go); the slices were more than ample. Horizon's is a relatively new sports bar located in Bannerman Crossing. It is owned by the people who owned Spirit, near FSU. They have an interesting cocktail menu, and their dinner menu covers all the bases. I started with the Golden Oldie cocktail, largely because of the "filthy cherries" in the description. First, it should be "filthy cherry" as there was only one, and second, I am not sure why it is called "filthy" as it tasted like every other real maraschino cherry (and not the bright red crap you can get in the ice cream section of the supermarket). But it was indeed tasty. For an appetizer I ordered the Mac and Cheese bites, a holdover from their Spirit days. This did not disappoint: made in house, the large portion was perfect, and was made even better by adding the buffalo dipping sauce (tip: get it on the side rather than having it tossed in it). I also had a wedge side salad that was also really good, although a little more dressing would not have hurt. Entree is where things went downhill. On the plus side, they offer fresh grouper sandwiches. But I would not get it fried again. That's what I was in the mood for, but it turned out to be a big mistake. As you can see from the pictures, it was way over fried and was far too crispy. Plus the batter was almost 1/2" thick in places. I ended up puling off the breading as the fish underneath was pretty tasty. And I will also say that the amount of aioli on the sandwich was miniscule. We had to flag down someone to bring more. The fish was good, and I suspect grilled is a much better choice. Service was initially great. But once the food started to arrive, brought by runners, the server essentially disappeared. By the time she came to ask how the entrees were, we were already 1/2 done and it was too late to send it back. So I would say that 4 stars is fair. If the entree was better, and service a bit more attentive, it could have been 5 stars. But certainly good enough for a repeat visit. read more

It's a comfortable atmosphere with class. My wife and I have had: Crispy Mac Bites Charcuterie Wakulla Springs Chicken The Judge Stuffed French Toast Bradley's Benedict The staff is friendly and pleasant. First, I love that this is locally owned! The good: the chicken noodle soup was spectacular! Very flavorful and the small noodles were perfect. I ordered the chicken tender platter and substituted onion rings for the French fries. The onion rings were crisp and delicious. My chicken was just out of the fryer and it was hot and crispy. The slaw was more vinegar based and I didn't care for it. My young server was very good and I love mangers that walk around asking how things are. The hostesses need to greet people more welcoming and pay less attention to their phones. The hostess also sanitize the tables but the one I was shown, I had to wipe off the crumbs. Watching them, they do spray the tables and booths, which I appreciate. I will come back though because of the food, the server and the manager. read more

Got some delicious to go food from Horizons. It was ready in the 15-20 minutes they quoted and my shrimp tacos were free on promo. I LOVED the shrimp tacos. They have sweet Sri Racha on them, but they're more sweet than spicy if you're not a fan of heat. The shrimp was fresh and the shrimp were not greasy. My husband had me try his fried chicken sandwich because he said it was too salty. It was indeed salty, but once he removed some of the fry coating it was much better, so it seems the batter was where the over salting took place. There is an outdoor seating area with small space heaters to heat one's feet. I will be back to try some more offerings. read more
