I came here for graduation dinner with my family and it was delicious! I would highly recommend this place for someone looking for a nicer restaurant that is not outrageously priced. The service was wonderful and everyone was highly satisfied with their meal!

Got seated immediately, i sat outside and the weather was great. Service was speedy and professional. I ordered the Cajun Alfredo Pasta. Chicken and Pasta was cooked perfectly along with the garlic bread which was delicious. My server, Julia was great. Over good experience and would recommend.

Had dinner with friends at Horizons; was my first time dining in the restaurant, though I had been planning to do so for a while. We were warmly greeted the moment we stepped foot in the restaurant and were seated almost immediately. Our waitress was wonderful! We started out with the fried green tomatoes and the smoked fish dip served with naan bread - though I mentioned to the waitress that Captain's Wafers crackers go hand in hand with fish/seafood dip! LOL! Lo and behold, the restaurant had some on hand! I ordered the shrimp tacos, my husband ordered the Royal Street shrimp; our friends ordered the Cajun Alfredo pasta and the Atlantic Salmon. We enjoyed our meals, and the vibes in the place were good; lively atmosphere but not overbearingly loud. We topped the dinner off with New York cheesecake (to go); the slices were more than ample. We will definitely return!

Horizon's is a relatively new sports bar located in Bannerman Crossing. It is owned by the people who owned Spirit, near FSU. They have an interesting cocktail menu, and their dinner menu covers all the bases. I started with the Golden Oldie cocktail, largely because of the "filthy cherries" in the description. First, it should be "filthy cherry" as there was only one, and second, I am not sure why it is called "filthy" as it tasted like every other real maraschino cherry (and not the bright red crap you can get in the ice cream section of the supermarket). But it was indeed tasty. For an appetizer I ordered the Mac and Cheese bites, a holdover from their Spirit days. This did not disappoint: made in house, the large portion was perfect, and was made even better by adding the buffalo dipping sauce (tip: get it on the side rather than having it tossed in it). I also had a wedge side salad that was also really good, although a little more dressing would not have hurt. Entree is where things went downhill. On the plus side, they offer fresh grouper sandwiches. But I would not get it fried again. That's what I was in the mood for, but it turned out to be a big mistake. As you can see from the pictures, it was way over fried and was far too crispy. Plus the batter was almost 1/2" thick in places. I ended up puling off the breading as the fish underneath was pretty tasty. And I will also say that the amount of aioli on the sandwich was miniscule. We had to flag down someone to bring more. The fish was good, and I suspect grilled is a much better choice. Service was initially great. But once the food started to arrive, brought by runners, the server essentially disappeared. By the time she came to ask how the entrees were, we were already 1/2 done and it was too late to send it back. So I would say that 4 stars is fair. If the entree was better, and service a bit more attentive, it could have been 5 stars. But certainly good enough for a repeat visit.

Fish tacos are amazing! The outdoor patio is cute and cozy. It's a nice spot to go for a quick lunch and/or appetizers and a drink as well.

I've reached the point where I may need to start referring to Growler Country Tavern & Grill as…read more"The Office." Not because I work there, but because it's become increasingly difficult to explain to my family why I keep disappearing for "a quick bite and one beer" and returning three hours later with a suspiciously good mood. The first thing that gets you is the food. The prices say "local tavern," but the quality says somebody in the kitchen is showing off. Everything arrives with the kind of care and attention to detail that makes you wonder if they accidentally sent your order to the wrong table--the fancy table. Then there's the beer selection. Calling it the largest in North Florida might sound like marketing until you open the menu and realize it has more options than some people's retirement plans. If they don't have a beer you like, there's a decent chance you don't actually like beer. What really seals the deal is the atmosphere. Plenty of places claim Southern hospitality. Growler actually feels like they're happy you showed up. No attitude, no pretension, just good people serving great food and enough beer choices to make decision-making a team sport. At this point, if my family asks where I'm going, I'll simply say, "The Office." Technically it's not a lie. There are deadlines, important meetings with friends, and quarterly reviews of the tap list. Productivity remains low. Job satisfaction is through the roof.

However, on a recent trip I discovered something a bit disturbing and honestly confusing. I was with a group of colleagues, and three of us have Alpha Gal (red meat allergy caused by the lone star tick). Thankfully I desensitized myself enough that I can eat SOME red meat. The other two are highly sensitive. I ordered the wings again and passed them around to share. One of my AG friends ate one and the other asked the waitress if there is cross contamination. We were informed that the wings are fried in BEEF tallow. I panicked because the one friend is so sensitive that she can't even go to a petting zoo with hoofed mammals without reacting. So lucky that she had taken an Allegra that day which helps with the allergy enough that one wing fried with beef fat won't cause anaphylaxis. However, if the other girl had eaten it, she very likely could have had a terrible reaction. It does not state on the menu that the wings are fried in beef tallow. It's very important that allergens such as this are noted. I would never have thought myself that it was fried in beef fat. I would've thought it was vegetable or peanut oil. I would hope that this restaurant will add red meat allergens to their menu as Alpha Gal is becoming more and more common. Better yet, don't use beef products to cook chicken products.

We started off with the "Devils on Horseback" which are basically shrimp jalapeño poppers. We were told they weren't too spicy, but I was literally rubbing ice on my lips from the heat! I should've expected them to be spicy from the literal name of them being called a devil haha. The flavor was absolutely there, but for $15 I was hoping that it would come with more than 4. For our entrees, we had the "Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos" and the "Ribeye Sliders". The sliders were my favorite of the two, but the tacos were also delicious! The sweet potato fries here are great also :) I also ordered a double strawberry mule, and it most definitely did the job for a decent price. I rarely complain -- I've been a server myself, so I understand how things can get -- but there were only four tables in the entire restaurant and we still felt ignored. It took a long time just to be greeted, and even longer to get our drinks, despite the place being almost empty. The food itself was good, but the service didn't improve. She only asked if my husband wanted another beer and didn't offer refills to anyone else at the table. We also waited way too long to get our bill. When my husband asked (twice) if Walk-On's offered a military discount, she went ahead and ran the card anyway and acted like she didn't hear the question. She eventually got it corrected, but the interaction felt careless. When she brought the check back, she even told us NOT to fill out the survey -- which honestly felt like she knew the service hadn't been good. As someone who works in this industry, I know how important those surveys are.

The pictures are from a recent event they did to showcase Monkey Shoulder whisky. They also now offer charcuterie boards from Little Paris, a restaurant nearby. A nice addition! But here's what's really great about the Lounge: if you aren't sure what brand or type of liquor you might want to buy or try, ask for a flight. We wanted to explore various toed of gin and they poured us a flight of different brands. But more than that, they poured it for us straight up and with tonic so we could try then both ways. Then, since they are part of and connected to the liquor store, we could go next door and buy the gins we liked. Pretty cool and very convenient.

Spirit availability was impressive for the size lounge. I was interested in Redbreast Irish Whiskey and they had 12, 15, and wow 21!!! The lounge inside was what I consider small, bar seating, and some table and comfortable chairs. The outside area was covered. Comfortable chairs with tables and ashtrays to handle about 25+/-. Two TV's. There are standing fans and heaters. There was no service to the outside area, so you picked-up your choice of spirit and got comfortable outside. We enjoyed our spirit and cigars with no one complaining about the smoke. It happened to be a very rainy night and the north area was a bit flooded, but no leaks from above. Pro Great selection of spirits. Cigar and I think cigarettes, evidence by butts in the ashtrays, are allowed outside. The inside lounge was very clean, as well as the two unisex bathrooms. Con The flooded area was unfortunate, but there was only three of us, and it didn't cause an issue. The Ashtrays had been mostly emptied, but not wiped down. Really not inviting to rest your cigar on a dirty ashtray. An easy wipe with a microfiber goes a long way. Not really a Con, but there was no Service outside on the Tuesday night we visited. Overall a nice experience for a dreary night. My friends and I will return, hopefully on a nicer evening. Note: If you don't bring your own cigar, the liquor store has a small selection available right next door.
