Attended the adult Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday! Love that it was limited to a certain number of people per hunt time and that they put this on for adults because you are never too old for an egg hunt. The drink included with the ticket price was nice. The people who were running the event from the restaurant were nice. It's not an overly large place but would like to come back to try some of their food!

The server we had was so sweet. The decor was very cool. My wings were a little dry, sweet potato fries were bland, and so were the pasta salad and collard greens.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. It wasn't clear how to order so I stood there looking confused until the bartender asked me if I wanted to order. I ordered the burnt ends sandwich, and decided to skip the sides because just the sandwich was $15! Order came out reasonably fast, but it was a tiny sandwich. Taste was good, but overall portion size was lacking.

I've been here so many times and the food is so good. That's the only thing I don't like either tater tots but today I'm trying something else. The crab dip is delicious!!! Even though they forgot my shrimp. The service was not the best. The bartender was very interesting. The ambiance is peaceful, and I enjoy being here, with a great ambiance and vibe.

Came in on a Saturday Afternoon for some good BBQ. Im local to the area and have driven by this place so many times, I decided to take a chance and finally check it out. I love the aesthetic country Virginia feel to this establishment. The bartender that was on duty this day was NIC and he was extremely knowledgebale and helpful for my first time experience. I appreciate him taking the time to give us a heads up that a large Grubhub order had just came in and the wait would be a little longer, he then offered us drinks while we waited. What a ROCKSTAR! I ordered the Pulled Pork, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, & Collard Greens! I must say that everything was made to perfection. The savory flavors of the bbq sauce with the juicy tender pork, the potato salad reminded me of my grandmothers back home, and the greens for sure someone put their heart and soul into it ! I will most definitely recommend this place to everyone I know who loves some good true southern tasting dishes.

We hadn't been here for some time having moved to Suffolk. We stopped in for dinner and it was like coming back home. The staff is super friendly as always. The beer selection is pretty extensive and there is a beer for everyone's taste. The food is exactly as we remember it, fresh and delicious. The only issue was it was rather chilly inside, but definitely did not deter us from grabbing food.

    So called burnt ends

The best thing about Hank's is the fact they are a pet friendly establishment! Good music!! The drinks are good! But the food not do much!! I was looking forward to the bbq I was told they have good bbq. Let's just say everyone's taste buds are very different. I ordered burnt ends, tots, cornbread, and a baked potato. My plan was to take the baked potato home for lunch the next day! Where do I begin the burnt ends weren't burnt at all it was more like stewed beef in bbq sauce. The corn bread was so dry, it crumbled in your hand as you tried to taste a piece. Not to mention no flavor at all. The tots were cold. I thought how could you possibly mess up a baked potato, but it's possible when you under cook it. I was more annoyed at the end when you close out your bill and you can't see the itemized bill till after you pay. What kind of system is that? One that needs to be revamped. To find out my bill was $33 I asked the guy what the hell was I charged for? So apparently my non burnt ends meal was $23 dollars for 3 chunks of beef, piece of cornbread and 20-2 12 tots. Not worth it at all. Would I come back. Only to have a drink and hang out with my dog friends. Which by the way is the only reason I give Hanks 2 stars.

    Fried Deviled Eggs

I took a stab at this place this past week. I ordered fried deviled eggs for a starter and the ribs with cornbread, Mac N'Cheese, and collard greens. The deviled eggs were delightful! The cornbread was burnt and very dry, I needed a lot of water to get it down. The ribs were not smoked, just seemed to be grilled. The Mac N'Cheese was pretty good. The collard greens stole the show, they were tender and had the right amount of salt and a perfect kiss of heat (spicy). I ordered German chocolate cake and red velvet cake for dessert. Be careful, I got charged $30 just for two slices of cake and they definitely weren't $15 a slice good. As for the atmosphere, it's small on the inside but opens up to a big outside area with a few fire pits and outdoor seating. The service was ok, nothing to write home about. It was frustrating that they didn't have sweet tea because they ran out of sugar. At a place that cooks Southern meals you have to have sweet tea, it complements the food.

My coworkers and I met up here for a Friday after/work hangout and had a great time. It was a beautiful day and they had good outdoor seating along with fun games like corn hole and darts. The service could have been better. There were times that we were trying to order but didn't get acknowledged. Also, I wish they had buzzers for when our food was ready. It was incredibly difficult to hear our names getting called out. For food, we ordered burnt ends, bourbon bbq wings, and loaded tots. I honestly wasn't impressed with the wings and would not get them again. We also ordered crushes and they were very good. After all the savory, we had to get some dessert because we saw the cool cake display when we came in. The cake slice size was a little intimidating but surprisingly light and flavorful. Despite a few setbacks, I had a great time with my coworkers and this will still be a place we frequent for post-work hangouts.

Burnt end plate with bbq beans and Mac and cheese.

Hanks has a cool vibe to it. Part taproom, bbq joint, outdoor venue, and petroliana decor. The beer selection was decent - a variety of styles with most being local. However, the night I visited every IPA was a hazy/NE style. The reason I can't give this place 5 stars is for the BBQ. I guess a decade in Carolina has made a bit more selective about BBQ. The price for a burnt end plate was $24, and for that, I honestly expected more. The portions were small, and lacked the caramelization I'd expect to see in a good burnt end. They were a good balance of lean and fatty, but I've had many better burnt ends than these. The sandwiches and appetizers that others ordered looked great, and the men's restroom even had a changing table - which is a pet peeve of mine when they don't. All in all, I'd go back to Hanks, but would skip the higher priced BBQ plates in favor of a sandwich, and spend the difference on another beer.

    Is there poppin music?

Seeing that everyone has a different taste in music, its hard to answer. When I was there I was caught up in conversation and the food and didn't focus on the music much.

Are there vegan options here? I see jackfruit totchos on the menu. Anything else?

I think they have jack fruit bbq I beleive

First of all can I just say WOW!…read more We were excited at the first because we thought the Neat Bird from Chesapeake had a new location in Norfolk Colley Avenue but there chicken sandwich was even delicious here too with a different owner! We met the owner, he is a cool band guy with a mustache name Dand. The drinks he made for us were so good and so was the way he talked with his staff and the way they worked together. My parner and I had seen that they pride themselfes on Scottish eggs, which we were lucky to try and it was also very delicious! We like that they have the vibe and also a board with many events of the community on the wall to check out while you sip on a delicious expresso martini. Good job to the Bird! now dont go opening another restaurant in Chesapeake or we will all be very confused!

You order at the register, and the staff brings the food out to your table. Everyone was attentive, and we had no issues with the service. We ordered the waffle plate, which came topped with fruit alongside eggs and their house sausage. We also tried the Huevos Rancheros, the Sausage Egg & Cheese sandwich, and a build-your-own omelette. For drinks, we ordered the brown sugar cold brew, dulce de leche cold brew, drip coffee, and an espresso martini. The waffle was huge, and the sides were great. My only complaint was that it could have used more fruit, as there were only a few small pieces. The Huevos Rancheros were delicious and came with a generous serving of avocado. The only thing that caught us off guard was the lack of salsa, since in traditional Huevos Rancheros the salsa is a key component. Even so, the dish was still flavorful and filling. The omelette was excellent, and the breakfast sandwich was equally delicious. I was especially impressed by the house-made jam, house-made hot sauce, and the perfectly seasoned home fries. As for the drinks, the brown sugar cold brew was excellent, but the dulce de leche version was far too sweet for my taste. From what I understood, they use two flavored syrups to make it, and I think using smaller portions of each would create a better balance. We ended up adding oat milk and some drip coffee to tone it down. The drip coffee itself was solid and came with free refills. The espresso martini really tied brunch together for me -- strong, well-made, and delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed both the food and the experience, and we'll definitely be back.

There's now a security table/desk where the DJ booth used to be; definitely wasted space where more tables and chairs could've been added instead. Had to stand for about 10 mins before some people finally left then we had to like "hurry" to get the seats before anyone else got them. We needed an extra chair at our table and went up to the security to ask if he knew where anymore could be or if we could borrow the one that was behind his table since he seemed to only be standing all night, but he responded kind of harsh with a stern "NO"....def unnecessary. Even though he was rude, the bartenders were the opposite, making funny light conversation and friendly while we ordered and waited for our drinks. The atmosphere was a nice, chill, and intimate vibe, with red/orange lighting. To drink: I tried the Saturn (8/10) it was pretty good, I liked the flavor, but there really didn't seem to be much alcohol in it fr. To eat: we ordered a Margherita Pizza and added Pepperoni (10/10) it was fresh, flavorful, and all around really good. There were hints of spice in the sauce that really added to the flavors. Their pizza seems to be a popular menu item as I seen pizza boxes on almost every table throughout the night. Def will be back again, but next time, we're going to get there early, so we can have a table for the night. Looked like once people secured themselves a table in here, they held it all night long and never moved / left till closing. My overall rate of experience : 7.5/10

We went out for acid fish which was a pop mediterranean raw fish experience, and they delivered all the way through with the combination of fish as well as the flavor profile of each and how the presentation is. You just immediately are very pleased with everything I would recommend trying them out when they come through again and they do pop in quite frequently at this lounge and this was my first time ever trying them out and I'm very pleased of the service as well as the introduction of each component of the dish, the cooks were very friendly, as well as given us guidance of what choices to choose from based off of the menu. The menu does change each time they do come so items that you will see will vary, depending on what they are putting on for the menu. We try their Sicilian sashimi that was definitely a 10 out of 10 and good for people that want to kind of share rather than have a full plate is definitely well proportion as well as light and not too heavily in on the pallet. The vibes vary from day to day depending on what time you get there it can get really packed so the earlier the better if you want more of a calm night I would suggest getting there early rather later cause that is usually when the dj that are going on that night come in that's usually there peak time. The drinks are well crafted I tried their cocktail called Saturn it had a sweet taste and was more of tropical with the passion fruit perfect pairing with the raw fish dish we tried tonight. If you're looking for a spot that has more of chill vibe and has good music with different styles and beats each day this is the place for you.
