Patrick was very helpful to me when I had to order tempered glass. The blonde young girl up front was excellent and knowledgeable and the nice guy with the beard who works in knobs and hinges was amazing!!! He and Patrick literally took me around the store getting me everything I needed. That is huge! I started redoing my kitchen, laundry room and bathroom cabinets so of course I was in there on several trips. Hanks Hardware is fine, but the Moulding and Stove store across the street is not. Went in on a Monday afternoon. Two people working, one knew nothing, the other was rude and completely unhelpful. I had precise questions and he had one word answers, I guess he figured since I have a stove he would not make a sale. Thank goodness we were the only ones in the store. I would have been embarrassed to have been treated like this in front of others. The store was listed as a dealer for the stove in question. He was no dealer for them. I hope I can find someone that can give me the information I need. read more

Love the selection of molding here and other cool stuff. The staff, however, was rude and not helpful. I have a crown molding project that I'm working on, so I ask "is your crown molding in a certain area?" Their response: "It's all over". OK, but I'm going to paint it, so I'm not looking for a specialty wood, I explain. What would you have that's pine or something less expensive since I'm just going to be painting it? Well, they say, you can paint any of it. Really??? Wow, that was helpful. So they left me to wonder the store trying to find something I could use. I realize they must cater to industry, but how hard is it to be nice to all your customers? They were too interested in continuing their own conversation. They do carry a lot of specialty items, but their terrible and rude service makes it a hassle if you aren't a pro. I have been here three times now and the service has been rude, unhelpful, and uncomfortable. Don't ask questions because they don't want to answer them. Don't know exactly what you are talking about- they basically will roll their eyes at you. Sad. Hanks has everything you could ever want . They have never failed me in terms of having the odd sizes and metric nuts and bolts. For that reason alone I would give them five stars!!!! But, the overall attitude of the employees is just bad. It's like they don't enjoy their jobs ! No smiles, no hello or thank you. The ladies at the desk in the moldings building are really nice and friendly and I have had interactions with a few others that have been helpful. The Ladies and the guys sitting at the desks at the front desk of the main building are the first and last impression a customer gets when they are there and I have to say that impression is a 1 out of 5. At least at Lowes and Home Depot they are attempting to be nice and customer service friendly. read more

I want to like this place, but I just can't. I feel strongly about supporting local business, spending locally and all that, but this place Really deserves to go out of business. Their customer service is possibly the worst I've ever seen. I've been here a bunch of times- mainly because they have a great selection of stuff that's hard to find in the Big Box stores, but about 70% of the time they are RUDE, unhelpful and condescending. I'm talkin' RUDE, folks! Avoid at all costs. One exception is that the guys in the lumber yard tend to be more helpful. Still not enough to merit my business. Good Hardware with a great selection. Pipe fittings, metric taps, hinges, etc. All the stuff you need to do a job. That is, if you know what you are doing. I go to a hardware store for hardware, not advice. Don't need, don't want help, except where to find the stuff. If you are a Prius driving, gluten free type expecting them to hold your hand, better go to China Depot or Lo's. They can sell you 2 cents worth of nails for $6 while telling you how to do the job. That is if they have what you want. Tap? Whats that? Flex connector. Whats's that? You won't know if you are a DIY weekend warrior who has watched way too many reality TV house flipping shows. First of all, what kind of hardware store closes at noon on a Saturday?! I literally only needed to buy a bag of quickset. It was 12:04 and there were several people in line waiting to pay. However, we were yelled at "We're closed !" Not only is their business model completely flawed, but they have zero people skills. Finally, I will never shop at the store again, and as a professional contractor, I will tell all of my fellow contractors to never shop at that store again. Yes, service can be hit or miss, but, in general this is my first choice of hardware stores when working on a home project. Prices are a little higher, but not prohibitively so. I enjoy the small-town atmosphere (which can go both ways), but also that I can get in and out quickly and with a minimum of computer-age hassle. I have been to this store 4 times now looking for specialty electrical items. 90amp square D breaker, and a grey electrical outlet cover plate among other things. They never seem to have what I need even though there slogan is " if we don't have it you don't need it" well guys sorry to say it but I have needed it and you didn't have it. I have to say, I love this store. It's a good old fashioned hardware store with plenty of selection. I like that I can find things here that aren't at the big box stores. Another plus is being able to buy materials that are not in prepackaged sizes. I needed 30" of hardware cloth; they rolled out 30" and cut it for me. At a big box store, I would have had to buy a whole roll. Another plus is it is quiet and enjoyable to browse in. I do agree the service is lackluster, something that could be easily fixed but as a small business, they don't have the benefit of big-box training (which in itself is practically a business) I've worked for a large corporation that trained a few times a year on customer service, management reiterated it at meetings, etc. So even employees not naturally inclined to perform in that area are brought up to standard. I need to go back in this week. If the CS is better I'll change the 4 stars to 5. Tip: when someone leaves a grumpy 1-star rating, click on that person's name (on the full site, not mobile app) to see what # of stars they have left for other businesses. On May 14th I ordered 8 container of fire glass and was told it would be here May 30th. The lady who helped was very nice. I had to pay for the entire order before they would order. May 30th I called and the lady, a different rude lady, told me it wasn't in. It would be a few days. On June 3rd I was in the area and dropped in. Was told it would be here June 5th. Called on June 6th, not in I am to call on the 13th. Spoke to Ariel today. What a rude nasty uncaring person. She could care less that I got the run around, need it for my daughters wedding on the 16th. Won't refund it so I can buy it elsewhere. Lived here for 35 plus years. Know a lot of people and will be telling everyone not to shop there. So pissed right now. read more

Very unreliable. The hours of operation are not reliable. There is no MAIN store phone number. Instead, you get a recording to call "Bubba" or "Jimbo" or "Susie Q". Once you make a selection, it goes to that respective voicemail! You're lucky if someone calls you back. When I finally got through to somebody a few days later, they were trying to rush me off the phone. When I asked if they performed Ax sharpening service they said "I don't know, let me check", which took them about 10 minutes to get back on the phone (you would think they knew what services they performed!). Once I got the answer was Yes, I asked when I could bring in my Ax for sharpening. They said to bring it in on Wednesday and pick it up the following Wednesday (Didn't know they were that busy) and I said ok. When I showed up to their store they were closed! I drove by the store the following week and again it was closed. I'm tired of guessing when they will be open. I will go elsewhere to get my Ax sharpened and decent Customer Service. I'm finding more and more businesses are lacking Customer Service and the Irony is that this country we live in is now primarily Customer Service driven! We don't Manufacture things anymore like we did after WWII. This is the perfect time to put companies to the test with what they do and how they treat customers. Once this whole Corona Virus is gone and back to normal, I'll know who to take my Loyalty and business to. read more

It would help if he didn't sound like he was irritated with me from the moment he picked up the phone too. I was so disappointed. I called Hanks to help find an item that I am not familiar with. I spent at least 5 minutes telling a lady what I was looking for and explaining everything which was time consuming since I don't know exactly what it is called. After all of this, she says she will transfer me to the warehouse and then doesn't even take the time to let the guy know what I just spent time explaining to her so I would have to go through it all again.. No thanks. I asked him if she explained anything to him and when he said no I was so frustrated I just hung up and will gladly call somewhere else. Let me start by saying I have not yet shopped here. But I will soon. I am a contractor and I was looking for information on a specific thermostat that Home Depot and Lowe's do not carry (or at least not easily found in store or online). I called Hank's. The stove department did not answer, so I left a detailed message. I received a phone call back in less then 30 minutes with the answer. This is almost un heard of. Helpful and informative staff as we were not sure what to look for in shopping for the setup on our "wood-burning fireplace plumbed for gas." Got some pretty cool looking options for glass and ceramic log sets and felt less intimidated as the staff who reached out to us was also female. Left with the right equipment to seal the gas pipe with caulk and bought a damper clamp. Good experience! We'll be comparing their prices to other vendors in the area for the glass rock setup. read more
