They also have a panaderia, carneceria, and many piñatas overhead. They even managed to fit in a Western Union where folks line up to depatriate dollars. But the main reason to come here is the authentic Mexican cafeteria food in the back. For $6.99 you get to pick two entrees from heating bins, served with fresh corn or flour tortillas, along with refried beans and rice. Or you can get anything you see in taco form for only $1.49 per. And these are BIG tacos, overflowing with meat, with added diced onion and cilantro. These are not the typical asada/al pastor you find at taquerias. These are home-style dishes, often stewed, some unique to here. Mind you, when it comes to freshness the bin dishes are a bit hit and miss. The pork is sinfully good! It's juicy, greasy goodness, with pulled and chopped meats from all over the pig including delicious fatty cheek meat. It is truly wonderful and reminds me a lot of getting whole pig carnitas in So. California. The beef barbacoa is pretty good too (I like to mix the two together..naughty, naughty). Their chipotle cream chicken is also crazy good, with large cubes of tender chicken breast meat. Skip the roasted chicken and tamales unless you know they're fresh (chicken tough). And be sure to grab a cold 1 litro bottled Coke from the mini fridge next to the register. Then you can then either take it to-go as most do, or sit down to eat in their little dining room, through the door on the left. Expect tables cleaned but not much else. I've been to supermercados in Mexico that look and feel just like this. Awesome!

Warm, friendly service both at the food counter and the main register alike. Parking lot was full -- always a good sign! The produce department and panadería (bakery) were well situated on the grocery half of the store itself, as was the meat department. Two of us ate like kings for all of seventeen bucks plus change.

The one I had from MacArthur literally tasted like dessert made of condensed milk, a slight tang that resembled cream cheese, topped with a scoop of their vanilla ice cream. Sadly, this one was not what I expected. It was really sour. Tasted like it was made of sour yogurt. I think their recipe is different and I didn't care for the sourness. I got the Mexican street corn too and it was ok. I guess I have more of a sweet tooth than sour.
