    Undercooked Burger

The servers are very nice, we always come because it's easy with babies to do take out with the drive thru. Tonight I got home and took a bite of this undercooked burger and was very disappointed. Some of yall may like your burger still moo'ing but I don't.

Everything was wonderful, almost as good as Wardlaw's but they don't have brisket. Ribs are phenomenal!

We decided on the Rib Plate with two sides and a brisket sandwich with one side and our adventures began! The owner Robert was hands on taking our ordering and cutting a generous portion of fall off the bone ribs! The menu said 4 bones, he cut easily six, and oh my gosh delicious! The tow sides of collard greens and steakhouse style potato salad was just as good! The brisket sandwich was huge and overflowing with the most flavorful and moist brisket we ever tasted! The side of coke slaw was homemade and yummy! The hospitality from the moment we walked in the door was over the top with several employees checking in if we needed anything or if they can be of help, The owner Robert even stopped by our table to ask how was everything on the little break he got! We drove here from Knoxville and will gladly drive back to try the other menu items!!!

First time visiting, and not only was the food to the moon fantastic with portions big enough to feed the inhabitants of Jupiter! but the man serenaded me. Yes, I got dinner and a show. The brisket? Tender enough to not use your dentures The pulled pork? Plentiful like it was trying to apologize for every bad BBQ I've ever had. And that Georgia sweet sauce? A whole spiritual experience. The green beans came in seasoned like they had something to prove, and the banana puddin'... well, that was the kind of dessert that makes you rethink your life choices in the best way. Staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Loved the rustic eclectic decor! 10/10 would celebrate being fabulous here again.

It makes for a hearty lunch after a morning hike, bike or run. My last visit was on a snowy Friday afternoon. I had the 8-dollar pork barbecue sandwich with a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. The barbecue checks all the boxes: smoky (not plain),tender and juicy (not dry) and well-cut (not too stringy or chunky). The slaw and sweet sauce were a nice accompaniment. The sides were good and what you might expect. They weren't overly cooked, salted or spiced, and my young son enjoyed them. The location has a healthy amount of mountain/country ambience, a cabinesque feel complete with wood carved animals and clever signs. Locally made a Shaker furniture and bags of pork rinds are for sale out front. At the moment, the main dining area is closed, so we ordered at the walk-up window and waited in the cozy, enclosed and heated porch area, which has both table and counter seating. The food was ready quickly and the folks were friendly, credit cards were accepted and bellies were filled.

The restaurant is located behind the namesake lodge and has ample parking. They had a nice fireplace going on outside due to chilly weather. Inside was a super cozy southern vibe kind of a place. There were a lot of music memorabilia on the walls. The live music was really good. Randy Finchum kicked off the music and played original and sometimes hilarious songs. He made sure to crack a lot of jokes and stories between the songs. For food we tried fried pickles, fried okra, fried brussels sprouts, and sausage with onions and peppers. Yep...no sight of greens but man was everything delicious. Also, they have cheap beers available but only in bottles. If you're in the mood for some good southern food with a cozy funky vibe then checkout Smoke House.

We thought it was perhaps a fire, but as we drew closer, we found that it was actually a barbecue place. Definitely seemed promising, but we weren't hungry at the time and decided that we would pick up some food on the way back. That we did - we drove up right around dinner time and as soon as we parked and ordered another 4 cars pulled up. This place certainly is popular and I don't know why there isn't another review up yet. Geo's is a very casual takeout joint where you order at a window. There are a couple of tables nearby, but we didn't see anyone for either lunch or dinner (probably because it was so cold outside!) The menu is pretty simple and very affordable and we ended up getting just a single plate since we still weren't that hungry: Pork Plate ($8.49) - We got a lot more food than I expected for the price. This came with two sides, of which I chose the baked beans and the coleslaw. The beans were pinto mixed with a bit of onion and some pulled pork. The baked beans were sweet, savory, with the slightest bit of spice, and a very distinct kind of charred flavor. The shredded coleslaw is pretty typical - a bit of a tang, sweet, with a bit of a kick from copious amounts of black pepper. The meal also came with a standard dinner roll on the side. The pork was the star here - meaty, well seasoned, with a good smoke flavor. The larger interior chunks were perhaps a bit on the dry side, but there was an appropriate amount of sweet and tangy barbecue sauce on top to moisten things up. Overall the food was good for the price. Geo's doesn't really have anything earthshattering here, but the food is pretty solid and is a good choice for a small town.

We entered and at first I was concerned because there were only two people in the restaurant. We ordered and received our food quickly and from the first bite of brisket I was hooked!!! We had the collards, mac & cheese, baked beans and Brunswick Stew. I was not happy with the Brunswick Stew but I'm hard to please on that item. I haven't had good batch in years. The people that know how to prepare it properly don't work in restaurants. Was charged $1 for two extra slices of bread. Uhhhhh really...it's bbq! Another drawback for me was the young lady working the register was pulling at the skin on her lips and I remember thinking oh lord she has her hands on her mouth, the register, the phone and everything else. I realize some people have nervous tendencies and try not to be too obnoxious when dining out but I sure miss the days of face masks and gloves. While we ate more and more people came in and when we left there was six people dining in, multiple pick up order, so it's a steady flow of people. The condiments station was neat and tidy. The restaurant itself is decorated with cute signage and quotes which lead to a relaxing environment. I grabbed a catering menu as I was leaving because everything was so delicious I have to convince my employer to treat us to bbq this summer. You can't go wrong with the strawberry lemonade.
