Awesome people. If you are heading to Chattanooga from Atlanta it's worth the drive off 75 to go here. Exactly what you want from a legit bbq place. Limited seating indoors. But nice screened in porch and tons of seating outdoors in the back. Highly, highly recommend.

No fluff, no gimmicks... just straight-up barbecue done right. I ordered the super sampler, which comes with five meats and three sides for $48, and let me tell you... the portion size is insane. This isn't your typical sampler you share between two people. This is easily enough food for four or five people. The pictures honestly don't do it justice. Let's talk about the meats. The brisket was everything you want. Juicy, tender, perfect fat-to-meat ratio, and the bark was excellent. Same with the ribs -- tender but still holding together when you pick them up. No sauce needed at all. The pulled pork... I don't say this lightly... this is the best pulled pork I've ever had. It melts in your mouth and is packed with flavor. It actually made me wonder how good their pulled pork sandwich must be. The sausage surprised me. I usually get tired of sausage quickly, but this one had a unique flavor and was one of the best I've had. The chicken was also tender, juicy, and well seasoned. Now the sides... Cheesy grits were extremely flavorful and easily compete with some of the best I've had. Mac and cheese is simple, homemade, and done right. The green beans were some of the best I've ever had -- not sure what they're doing, but it works. Potato salad was excellent, baked beans were sweet and spot on, and even the Brunswick stew (which I don't usually go for) was solid with a more tomato-forward flavor. Dessert sealed the deal. The banana pudding absolutely lives up to the hype. Every bite has those crushed wafers mixed in, and the texture and flavor are just perfect. One of the best banana puddings I've had anywhere. They also have multiple house sauces (Carolina, Texas-style, Georgia-style), and the Georgia sauce was my favorite. Service was A+. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, even while the place was packed. And yes, it gets PACKED. I got there right when they opened and there was already a line. They do have extra seating outside, but if you don't get there early, be prepared to wait or take it to go. Parking, though, is actually not an issue. There's parking across the street, some on the side, and a large dirt lot in the back where most people were parking. Even with how busy it gets, there's plenty of space if you know where to look. I honestly can't believe a place this good is tucked away in northwest Georgia. This is one of those true hidden gems... but the locals clearly already know. This ride was 100% worth it. This is easily top two barbecue spots I've had in Georgia... and it might be pushing for that number one spot.

It makes for a hearty lunch after a morning hike, bike or run. My last visit was on a snowy Friday afternoon. I had the 8-dollar pork barbecue sandwich with a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. The barbecue checks all the boxes: smoky (not plain),tender and juicy (not dry) and well-cut (not too stringy or chunky). The slaw and sweet sauce were a nice accompaniment. The sides were good and what you might expect. They weren't overly cooked, salted or spiced, and my young son enjoyed them. The location has a healthy amount of mountain/country ambience, a cabinesque feel complete with wood carved animals and clever signs. Locally made a Shaker furniture and bags of pork rinds are for sale out front. At the moment, the main dining area is closed, so we ordered at the walk-up window and waited in the cozy, enclosed and heated porch area, which has both table and counter seating. The food was ready quickly and the folks were friendly, credit cards were accepted and bellies were filled.

They told me they did not have any public restrooms and that I was not allowed to use their facilities. Even though this is a walk up window, they still provide a covered indoor cubicle tables and outdoor seating for customers so from what I understand, they're supposed to allow public restroom usage for paying customers. I give this restaurant one star for poor service.

The restaurant is located behind the namesake lodge and has ample parking. They had a nice fireplace going on outside due to chilly weather. Inside was a super cozy southern vibe kind of a place. There were a lot of music memorabilia on the walls. The live music was really good. Randy Finchum kicked off the music and played original and sometimes hilarious songs. He made sure to crack a lot of jokes and stories between the songs. For food we tried fried pickles, fried okra, fried brussels sprouts, and sausage with onions and peppers. Yep...no sight of greens but man was everything delicious. Also, they have cheap beers available but only in bottles. We thought it was perhaps a fire, but as we drew closer, we found that it was actually a barbecue place. Definitely seemed promising, but we weren't hungry at the time and decided that we would pick up some food on the way back. That we did - we drove up right around dinner time and as soon as we parked and ordered another 4 cars pulled up. This place certainly is popular and I don't know why there isn't another review up yet. Geo's is a very casual takeout joint where you order at a window. There are a couple of tables nearby, but we didn't see anyone for either lunch or dinner (probably because it was so cold outside!) The menu is pretty simple and very affordable and we ended up getting just a single plate since we still weren't that hungry: Pork Plate ($8.49) - We got a lot more food than I expected for the price. This came with two sides, of which I chose the baked beans and the coleslaw. The beans were pinto mixed with a bit of onion and some pulled pork. The baked beans were sweet, savory, with the slightest bit of spice, and a very distinct kind of charred flavor. The shredded coleslaw is pretty typical - a bit of a tang, sweet, with a bit of a kick from copious amounts of black pepper. The meal also came with a standard dinner roll on the side. The pork was the star here - meaty, well seasoned, with a good smoke flavor. The larger interior chunks were perhaps a bit on the dry side, but there was an appropriate amount of sweet and tangy barbecue sauce on top to moisten things up. Overall the food was good for the price. Geo's doesn't really have anything earthshattering here, but the food is pretty solid and is a good choice for a small town.

The food was good, but the major drawback is that a large plate only had four ribs, one of which you could barely call a rib. The second, drawback for me is that the ribs came with sauce already on them. That's like a major no-no in my book. I know, everybody has their preference, but I prefer to sauce my own food if I feel that it's necessary. To be honest, barbecue should stand on its own without sauce and sauce should only be there to enhance the flavor. The meat was tender, but I couldn't really get a feel for the flavor of the meat because the sauce interfered with that. The pulled pork plate was good. Also, my girlfriend said she enjoyed that. But again, sauce should come on the side in my opinion. I have no real complaint against this place, but I wish I had known ahead of time that the ribs came with sauce on them and I wish that I had known that there were only four ribs on the plate, I would've ordered a whole rack. Prices are good, the place is clean, and as I said, the owners are very welcoming and warm people. Give this place a go, it's worth a trip! But just ask questions before you order!
