I have visited Farmer's Indian Market twice, and walked out both times without buying anything. I'm…read morean adventurous shopper so this is unusual for me. The prices for produce are high and the organization of the aisles baffles me. This time I had a plan: a short list of specific needs from the Asian Market on Central which I hoped I could find here instead. But daikon was too expensive, a tub of peeled garlic was not in sight and I did not have the patience to search for wheat starch or Pantai brand fish sauce. All that said, it's still a four star experience. First for the experience of seeing many Muslim families shopping together on a Friday, and particularly the happy customers waiting at the busy halal butcher when their orders are delivered. Second for the depth of product which challenges the casual shopper but lets me know this would be a good source for a very specific product, like an obscure fruit or vegetable or one of the dozens of middle eastern flatbreads on offer. The labneh section alone deserves an award for brand diversity. Like it or not, I know I'll be back and am glad we have Farmer's Indian Market in our community.

The layout is nice and easy to find things. The produce section is extensive and probably the closest that comes to HEB. Depending in what I need this is a great place. And there are more in the area since they took over all the closed ShopRite stores.

So it was not surprising to me that Price Chopper/Market 32 grabbed the defunct Shop Rites in the area. But having so many in one area takes away from all of them. I've got 2 Market 32's competing for my business on Western Avenue - neither one is fully staffed as it is. This new Market 32 at 1730 Central Avenue is competing with a nearby Price Chopper at 1892 Central Avenue. I'd be willing to bet these stores consolidate into one at some point in the near future. Sorry, having all these stores is not the way to get my business. Here's some things to consider addressing if you want that: - None of these stores have "baskets for easy shopping," only carts. If I only want a few items, I'd like a basket, not a cart. - Competitive prices - the few loss leaders here were okay and good bargains, otherwise not. - How about low-sodium deli product options, like some other local grocery store chains provide? - Label the produce - Absolutely nothing except lettuce was labeled in any way in the greens section. I hope you can tell chard, collards, and kale apart. There were no signs under the products, and at least the chard had no tags on them identifying them by item or 4-digit code. More on that below. - Have someone at the seafood counter. By the way, the salmon fillets were dry and cracked. - Have bagels that actually look like bagels, not mis-shapen, flat, and burnt excuses for bagels. Some of them looked more like the 5 pound weights I put on my barbell. For a grocery store chain that has been known for good quality bagels, these were abysmal. - Have user-friendly checkout kiosks. These get upset if you put your empty grocery bag on the counter before scanning items. For items you need to look up, instead of getting a convenient keypad, you get a list of 6 to 8 likely items. If what you have isn't on the list, you MIGHT get to a digital keypad to enter words or a code. Now about that chard: The scanner/electric eye did not recognize the item, so I got a pop-up list of things like spinach and kale, but no chard. When I tapped on the button for not listed, I got a "please wait" message, and then nothing happened. I eventually had to call for an attendant (who had to serve 2 people ahead of me, by the way), who had to use an authorized bypass to bring up a greens menu which actually included chard. This was not a good experience at all. There's several other Market 32s in the area I'd rather visit. Honestly, though, I'd actually drive the 45 minutes to the next closest Shop Rite than to go back to this store Shop-Rite-Turned-Market-32.

I stopped here this morning for gas, so my review is mostly about that. It's very convenient if you…read moreare driving south on NY 50/67. There's 6 pumps, at an angle, but only about 10' of space between the front of the pumps and the edge of the pavement, so navigate there carefully. Since they're on the south side of Ballston Spa, their prices are generally cheaper due to competition, but their prices are still a few cents a gallon higher than the stations down the road at the 50/67 split. There are parking spaces in front and on the south side, and during busy hours, they're almost always full. It's probably people getting their morning coffee and sandwiches there instead of the fast food chains just beyond. It's a medium sized Stewart's. This one has outdoor picnic tables on the north side that are sheltered by a roof, a nice convenience. Selection is good, however, if you want all the bells and whistles of a newer, larger Stewart's, that would be the relocated and expanded one on the north side of town at the intersection of NY 50 and North Line Rd.

They also just have a great selection with heirloom varieties. And whoever makes the dried herb mixes knows what they're doing. Cashiers are always kind too. Wow. Times have changed. I LOVE Fred's so I'm sad to report this, but they've lost me. Just…read morepurchased almost 12 lbs. of picanha for $14.99 a pound. I asked for the four plates to be cut into steaks which I've done on occasion when feeling lazy on 10lb+ orders, but this time seemed different and they kept all the points -- the plate is a triangle. I didn't realize that they'd keep so much of the "trimmings" so I went from 11.88lbs to just over 9 which means they kept just over 2.5 lbs which presumably goes into their ground beef. Works out to $20 a lb for me. I did have a pleasant FB messenger conversation with someone, but I've been a member at Costco for 20 years (kept my membership active) so I'll be going back to them full time. My advice to customers. Ask for the trimmings if you're asking them to butcher any meat product. Especially picahna which is super easy to do. My advice to Fred's. Ask the customers if they want the trimmings.
