Now that I am mobile with my Jeep again figured time to get some groceries. Hannaford is one of my favorite. It is not an HEB, but comes a close 4th place. Has a lot of fresh options that Market 32 or the CoOp don't. My favorite was ShopRite but they left Albany a year ago, so now only a few left. If I miss home there is always Whole Foods and Trader Joes. read more

I was at the deli counter on 6/14/26 at 4:45PM. The clerk behind the counter was cleaning the slicer machines. After asking me what I wanted, she went to the sink and washed her hands. She dried off her hands and both arms with a paper towel. She then came over to the slicer machine and wiped it down with the SAME paper towel she used to dry her hands and arms. Disgusting! This is a health hazard. I walked away in disgust. I reported it to the store manager on duty. She was quite upset that this happened. The clerk was either not properly trained or just did not care. This is how people get sick. read more

The renovation at this store is now in its 6th or 7th month. I just visited and the deli was actually closed. There is no excuse for closing the deli, and just offering pre-sliced meats that often stick together after being put in a plastic bag. There is bagged cheese on both ends of the store, and navigating your way thru is difficult at best. Love the addition of all the self serve check-out stations. But this renovation needs to wrap up so things return to normal. read more

Hannaford is a wonderful supermarket chain north of NYC. Why they haven't come downstate yet is a mystery to me. My only thoughts is they they need a lot of space. This store is HUGE and with that you need easy access as well a a huge parking area. It's almost embarrassing to say that we came here just to buy some water. I mean, this place is huge and has everything along with the food you came here for. What's nice is that not only is the store big but the isles are huge and easy to maneuver through. The store is very bright so you can see the items on the shelves. It us very easy to navigate and there is plenty of signage around the store. The staff here is great. Not only do they answer your questions, but they took us to the exact spot we wanted to be, and all with a smile. Check out was a breeze and the cashier was also a delightful young lady. Hannaford Supermarkets - Very spacious with huge isles. - Grocery Near Me - Colonie, New York

Hannaford is normally my go-to grocery store, but this one seemed a bit off. It's quite possible they are short-staffed. I noticed a significant number of shopping carts left in the parking lot, and they had no one at any of the checkouts assisting customers with their packing. But the shelves were full and the aisles were clean, which is a plus. One of the things I had been looking for in this store was some bagels, which were practically nonexistent in the bakery section. Then I noticed there's a Bruegger's in the plaza, so maybe they just don't try to compete (wouldn't blame them). The young man who checked me out had zero enthusiasm. I barely got a hello from him, and his checkout activity was "scan and done," not even an assist pushing the groceries down the belt to help me reach the items I had to pack myself. He did his bare minimum, that was it. This store is at a busy intersection as well. Taking traffic and the "meh" experience I had here - well, there's other Hannaford's in the area I can visit for a better overall shopping experience... other grocery stores too. read more

The store is fine but you really need to pay attention to the sell by dates, I keep getting things that are expired from this branch.

Hannaford is our local supermarket and I shop here weekly. I started shopping at Hannaford after Price Chopper started converting the local stores to Market 32 and I never went back. I enjoy this perticular stores layout and the quality of the produce. They have a decent selection of gluten free and organic options too. The only complaint I would have is the weekly store flier isn't organized in a manner that I personally find easy to read but this is a minor annoyance. Not to be compared to Wegmans that I had back in western NY but its a happy middle ground between places like Whole Food or Freshmarket and Aldis or Shoprite. I probably won't be shopping else where for my weekly neccessities unless a Wegmans opens. read more

Up until recently I lived in Clifton Park and pretty much only went to Price Chopper. But, they began remodeling it into a Market 32 (or Wegmans copycat) and at that time we started going to Hannaford. It was great, and people there were really friendly. Some of the employees even knew us by name. So, when we moved to Colonie we tried this store out. It was large, and it reminded my wife of Clifton Park. The Price Chopper here is wonderful but small, so for our weekly "buy all the groceries" trips we started coming here. I love the fact that the deli is usually staffed well enough that you aren't waiting forever to be helped. Their bread and cheese sections are small but nice. I do wish that they had a "day old" baked goods area like P.C., but you can't have everything. The store is well laid out, and as we learn where things are shopping is becoming easier. They carry Battenkill Dairy milk, which is our favorite. My wife is pretty sure it is because we called told the Dairy that we couldn't get it at this store, so now we buy it to support them. They also have a small bulk section. I absolutely love bulk sections in stores and notices that Hannaford stores usually provide these. Thanks! I have no idea if their prices are better than other places, and we don't cut coupons so I don't really compare prices. However, we have noticed that we are paying more for food recently. It may be because Hannaford charges more, or it may be just the increase in food prices in general. But, our shopping experiences are always pleasant here and that makes up for any increase in prices compared to other stores. They also have a Citizens Bank branch inside, which is fantastic for Sunday banking. read more

Worker with napoleon complex check my ID (over 21) and then demanded ID from my brother who was with me (not purchasing anything) for alcohol when I came to cashier to pay. People come to grocery store with their children all the time does that mean they can't buy alcohol? My brother showed him ID On his phone ans he refused to sell because ID wasn't a physical card. Shouldn't have demanded it to begin with! Only did that to me. I'm almost positive he was racist. Other people in line spoke up against him and he just ignored them. Losing my business. read more

Entering Hannaford (96 Wolf Road, Colonie, NY) on Friday, April 24, at about 3:45 PM, I overheard some store employees scoffing at a customer who also entered the store. The insults continued until just before the customer purchased his groceries and left the store. I find the loud and obnoxious behavior of some of Hannaford's employees to be egregious. Those employees should be reprimanded for personally attacking a customer without cause. read more

Great local supermarket reminds me or Ralphs, Vons, and Publix. The store layout and signs are easy to navigate. You either have to bring your own bags or pay 5 cents for each paper bag you use during checkout. No plastic bags. read more

I stop and shop as needed. They are convenient but pricey. That said if you have a gift card and it was never activated in error or used up you have no way to trace it and get the money value you deserve. I got a "so sorry can not help you" and now that there is a new system and the old cards they have to look up by hand. Of course, they could not find it. They need a better way to do business. If they did this to a lot of folks that is lots of money in their pocket and no one has the ability to prove anything. I will have to let the attorney general know so they can investigate. I maybe out of my money but if they are scamming they better be prepared. read more

I know one has to be really cautious about rebound relationships, especially long distance ones but...seriously...I think I'm in love. Or at least in Like. After breaking up with Shop-Rite closer to home -- AGAIN -- I was hoping to really get back to my own true self by checking out Trader Joe's and maybe, you know, hooking up again. But...Trader Joe's is just TOO BUSY for me. It can't even find time to fit me into its parking lot. I've tried over and over, and while Trader Joe's and I saw each other a couple of times casually when it was convenient, and I really really like Trader Joe's, I got the message today. So in a fit of pique, I turned into the Hannaford's just across the street and down at the corner from TJ's. This Hannaford's is kind of hard to get with, too, but it's because it's shyly hiding its entrances off a feeder road off Sand Creek Rd. I mean, I admit I just turned in there because I was mad at TJ's and Hannaford's was right there, and I wouldn't've otherwise looked at Hannaford's because it's just like the Hannaford's closer to me and while that's sort of OK it never really sends me into transports of delight about the selection and variety and those special things I look for in a grocery store. So this one kind of looked like the grocery store next door, just farther away. But, once I got my foot in the door - oh boy! It's not all hot and flashy the way TJ's, the shiny penny, is, but this Hannaford's has a little bit of everything I'm looking for. It's a lot more substantial than I thought, half again as big as the one closer to us, and it's got a ton more organic and specialty brands. It's really well laid-out, with the convenience and produce sections given enough space to circulate, and then the rest of the store, while sort of conventional and plain, has that nice mixture of newer goods with the old style down home things that you really need to build a meal plan for a family with. It had a traffic-cop-style director at the single checkout line (which works really well, you think you want the choice but you really want somebody to do this for you) and carousel-bagging like a Walmart (which can work or not work, in this case it works) and it was a nice way to end the encounter, politely and efficiently and without any of that awkward discount-card-swiping discussion. I mean, Hannaford's here isn't exciting, OK, I admit that. But it strikes me that long-term relationships are built on respect and friendship, and buoyed by enough mutual interest -- it doesn't have to be everything, but enough -- in the qualities and features. You really have to make sure your basic needs are being met but that's also not enough, but the "makes me feel special" category of things doesn't have to be the giant shooting fireworks as much as the pleasant bouquet of daisies kind of feeling. Hannaford's of Wolf Rd., I honestly don't know if we can make this work at a distance, but I'm really interested in you. Let's try a few more visits together though, you know, take it slow, and see if it's going to work out before we make it an exclusive thing. But for now...SWOON. You've turned my head. read more

Major problems with company respecting its customers space. I have never had so much trouble maneuvering around a grocery store. Their people are putting out stuff that should be put out early in the morning or really late at night. Twice we have ordered lobster's cooked to be done at an exact time. Both times we came in here they had just put them on. We had to wait 15 minutes for them. read more

I'm on a constant quest to find the perfect grocery store in the area to do my shopping at. Every where I try seems to have some sort of problem - whether it's a lack of "natural" products, a pitiful fish market, or an unfortunate proliferation of rotten garlic. And let's not even get started on the customer service at most places (perhaps "lack-there-of" would be more appropriate." Of all the local Hannaford Supermarkets (and most of the Price Chopper stores,) I think this might be my favorite. They have a full natural foods section, a great produce section and the fish/meat always look good. The service is usually quick and well-operated. The only reason that I don't shop here more often is that's out on Wolf Road. I work up the road so it's convenient sometimes, but the rest of the time, I'd rather not deal with the clusterfuck that is Wolf Road/Colonie Center/Upper Central Ave. read more

If the pharmacy opens at 9:00, then the pharmacy should open at 9:00; not 9:10 or whenever staff decide to arrive. Attitude adjustment needed for the red head. She can be nasty especially if customers have been waiting in line for her to open and she needs to count the cash drawer first. Yikes! read more

I think they are in the process of remodeling and it looks like they put down a new floor. This location is kind of annoying to get to for me seeing as it is in the middle of Wolf Rd. and traffic on that road always sucks. The aisles are much larger than any of the other locations it seems. Which is always nice. They also have best idea for their bottle return. It actually has a separate outside entrance. This is much nicer so you don' t have to smell nasty schwill beer when you are walking in and getting your cart like all the other grocery stores. read more

I have been shopping at Hannaford for years. I made the switch because I love the fact that their prices are perfect for my budget and I never have to remember a membership card or shop the flyer in order to get a good deal. No matter where I have lived they always have a location that is convient. The people that work for them are always pleasant. I only have one negative thing to say about the place. They need to teach the new baggers how to bag groceries more consistantly. I sometimes end up with bags that have way too many heavy items, i.e. cans, jars, while the rest of the bags have light boxes. But otherwise still a great grocery store. read more

Having been to this store late at night the other night after coming back from the Macy's store around the corner late at night after doing inventory counting, I stopped into this Hannaford which seemed to have been open 24 hours after coming back from the Macys around the corner. I was looking for bottled water, and although I passed it right by, after asking an employee (who was courteous when realizing it was "my mistake" - it was 2AM and I'd like to thank the guy), he apologized and directed without showing me the bottles of water. Now, I generally am wanting bottles of water from a cooler, but that's okay. At only 97 cents per bottle, I got a bargain. The employee at the register was rather nice too. She might not have greeted me (by even a simple nod, I seemed not to have noticed), but I could tell that she knew I was there and was cared for as her customer. I lived with my purchase. I ended up finishing and getting halfway thru the bottle of water in the hallway of your place. It was hurricane-force-like winds that night with torrential rains, and I knew that hallway was a safe place to replenish the lost water in my body from the counting when I couldn't keep a bottle of water on me. So thank you for being open when I needed you. Having lost the opportunity to stop at the nearby McDonalds Drive-Thru on that trip at 2AM that morning, I do thank you for being there and open when I needed you. read more

This store has gone downhill in the last six months. They are frequently out of items and do not restock quickly. The produce department often looks picked over, and they stock only their generic brand of lettuce. Some of the deli staff are really unfriendly to customers. The worst though is the front end. They did away with express lanes to try and make you use the self-service registers. Frequently they have only two lanes open, so there are long lines for check out. The cashiers socialize too much. One of the front end supervisors, a woman with short frosted blonde and black hair is miserable all the time and just stands there looking at the long checkout lines. The customer service counter is a nightmare when someone named "Earth" is there. She sits with her back turned away from the counter, watching the long checkout lines and socializing with other employees. You literally have to cough loudly to get her attention. And there is an older male employee who plops himself in one of the customer wheelchairs inside the door and sleeps! This used to be a really well-run store, but not anymore. Corporate needs to send these managers to the Latham store to see how a well-run store operates and how to give good customer service. In the meantime, I will do most of my shopping at Price Chopper. I'd rather pay more and get good customer service (and quicker checkouts). read more

Hannaford's is the bomb for supermarkets. The environment makes for a relaxing trip to the store. At the Wolf Road location, once you walk into the produce section, it's like entering a big open-air market. They've got the freshest vegetables I've ever seen in a supermarket. The bakery, which I haven't tried, looks good and has cafe tables for people to relax with some coffee and a snack. The deli has a wide selection, although, I am sad to report, no Boar's Head, and its neighbor, the Pizza Sushi Sandwich shop has some interesting selections. The sushi made-to-order is a nice touch. Fish and meat both have their own counters with very delicious looking cuts in the cases. And in the real grocery section, there's a big square of an organic food section right in the middle. Kudos, Hannaford's! Five stars. read more

Hannaford is my favorite supermarket in the area. They have a large selection of organic produce, as well as a large natural foods section, which features all sorts of foods, such as cookies, trail mix, tomato sauce, etc. I also love the Nature's Place Hannaford brand, which are natural and/or organic foods at a reasonable price. The employees are very friendly and the store is open 24 hours, which is good when you realize you need something in the middle of the night. read more

You are all fools. Seriously. Hannaford is absolutely overpriced. The amount of money they charge for decent quality products is sky high. You're far better off at Wal-Mart and even they are a flaming rip off. I'm not even trying to start a serious fight here. But why defend institutions which routinely take advantage of you? Their cheese selection for example is actually decent and passable. But totally inflated beyond normal. Why is it when I go downstate the prices for good food are so much less? Is it a case of simple supply and demand? After all there is much more competition down there. But you would think that good quality foods would be less here than down there. It makes no sense. Heck, even across the border in New England I can get the same products for less. With gas being down below $2.00 per gallon, it actually is worth my while. read more
