Came here recently for bread because I was in the area and I was a bit disappointed. The bakery section seemed really small (despite the actually quite large and open area where it is located) and there were only a few types of bread out. I arrived around noon, so it wasn't as if I was catching them right when they opened up in the morning. That being said, the store appeared to be very open and easy to navigate. Their prepared foods section is dated, and I wonder if turning this into a Market 32 store is on the horizon. The deli section was also small and lacking in items that I find at other stores, especially the variety of cheeses that are available. Before and after the pandemic... there's no difference in service. The deli never has two people, and it takes 1 person a half hour to go through servicing 1 person. I called the deli to order a large amount of cold cuts and Bryan answered. He told me, "you have to come to the deli, we don't do that.'" It has been done before, but I didn't want to argue my point to Jason who has no interest in customer service. I called back and spoke to Jadon, who was funny and took my order for the following morning; no problem. I arrived and asked for my order and was told they didn't have it. I told the young man (who was very plesant", Jason has taken the order. The young man went to get another employee, who came out and told me,I think Bryan but can not be 100% sure- Sept 24, 2022), there was no order. I told him, I gave the order to Jason. He replied, "we do not take orders of the phone." I replied, "well he did." I know Jason wrote the order down because he read it back to me. The manger or who ever he was, thought it more important to explain why they don't take orders over the phone. As a manger, you should realize, customers dont care about processes of a company, they shop where they are treated good. After my deli order eas received, I walked to the bakery for the french bread I ordered the day before. They had it put aside for me, engaged in conversation, 100% service! I have had a lot of experiences shopping at this store and they are obviously doing a lot of work on their selection of employees. The store overall experiences have improved so much, very noticable. While this location has a great choice of products, is fully stocked and even has a bakery ad small food court, the staff here can be pretty rude. I am used to staff being helpful and courteous, but have not found that to be the case here in a couple of occasions so I tend to go to other stores if possible. read more

What a disgusting store! I found 4 items in different sections of the store had outdated products being offered for sale. The fresh fruit was anything but fresh and fruit flies were the only customers enjoying that. Hardly any employees throughout the store and the ones who were there had bad attitudes anyway. They pick and choose who they are open to in the checkout lanes. I witnessed that 1st hand for at least 3 customers. I made sure to tell those customers that at Hannaford Wolf Road, they would get much better service and products and they agreed to go there from now on. This store has gone through one of the most dramatic transformations I have seen. It's like the Colonie Center of Supermarkets. It used to be a bit scary. And there was not really anything to note. It was a large, urban, price-chopper. Not as nice as it's suburban counterparts. But a better bet than going to the smaller Madison Ave store. Now, the sheer variety of items they stock is incredible. Asian foods, Indian foods, Hispanic foods, Jewish foods, German foods (I learned curry ketchup is German... who knew), British foods, etc. And they carry rather esoteric items from each of those major classifications. Such as Thai Fish Sauce, Salt Cod, and the aforementioned Curry Ketchup. Still, you would save a bundle by going to the Asian Food Market right down Colvin. But, if you only need to replenish one bottle of fermented black beans, it may make sense to spend the extra buck and not make a second trip. Note: Tofu is still 1/2 the price at the Asian market - and that's the California produced GMO free variety. I also have taken a liking to some Price Chopper products: Central Market Extra Fine Green Beans - Frozen Central Market French Vegetable Blend - Frozen (They are great in stir-fry or as an easy side dish) They are still putting the finishing touches on the store. But this has become my go-to place. Especially when they send the $5 off $40 coupons in the mail. I am a total slut for those. read more

The sign in the seafood department says open at 8:00 a.m. Why is it you can't buy fresh fish until close to 10:00 a.m. since the fish have not been placed on ice until close to that time? After a bummer of an Instacart order yesterday at the Market32 on Western Ave, I got an order here (1+1/2 hours after beginning my first shift in Albany, NY) instead. And although my mother and brother had been in this one before (in the Westgate Plaza across from Armory (automobile type since it's changed so much lately), this time I actually had my chance to check it out. I liked what I saw as a Shopper. The aisles are nice and wide, yet products were organized in a manner I could handle. Great selection with not many products I had to mark as "not found" although the alfredo sauce was a little skimpy for the company I was looking for, along with competitors brands. I was a little concerned with signage, but it got the job done. The company here has some great employees who actually care about the customer. I asked and I received great service. Some days I wish my current area's competitors employees were just as great as you performed yesterday. I thank you. I didn't like how the register employee acted. It wasn't the absolute best, but it wasn't the worst either. I just didn't know who was bagging or where the checkout bags were. I would've helped had I known that her two other co-workers (sitting nearby) weren't going to help her. She acted like "she was paid by the hour" and didn't recognize the speed at which she was helping with bagging items. It wasn't my fault. Thankful that she communicated with me so I knew what held up the process as she helped in all areas of the checkout process. read more

Okay, Albany. I call truce. International foods? Yes you have them (praise Jesus). You actually have a few aisles of them! I didn't take enough time to check out the Asian or European sections, but I did take some time to tediously inspect the Hispanic/Latin American sections, and I have to say, well played. While it's not the most complete array of products from the region that I've seen, it surely is for this area. There are TONS of Goya products, which I honestly can't vouch for as far as quality goes, but judging by its popularity, I think it's good. LOTS of Santos candles! PINA Jarritos!! FTW!! Jufran!!!!! (If I ever felt, for some reason, to fry me up some plantains.) They had stuff like cassava crackers and guava paste. I have no idea what you use this stuff for, but okay. Dona Maria sauces, which is fine if you're too lazy to make mole yourself. Some good Mexican cookies and such, and a good array of spices and chilies. I approve. I TOTALLY approve (THANKS for the tip, Jess). Other things worth noting: Price Chopper had a really good selection of bulk produce like peas and mushrooms. That said, the salad mixes were expensive and rank. I got mine home, and a day later it was rotten. Sad! Ice cream section is a little over-frozen, but I can deal with that. On Daniel's suggestion, I checked out the remodeled version of the Westgate Chopper a couple of weeks ago. Previously I dreaded going here because it was indeed a little scary. The staff was always extremely rude and the lines were absolutely outrageous. But now? My god - the selection of ethnic specialties is amazing! There's a whole aisle and a half of Hispanic products, and an entire refrigerated case too. There's cotija cheese and queso blanco and numerous others that I'd never even heard of. I was able to get a huge bag of masa (the stuff you use to make homemade corn tortillas) for just $2.39! And there's a huge selection of Asian specialties too, along with Indian foods, Jewish foods, even British products like Branston pickle and several Cadbury candy bars. I was a little bit in heaven. They also have a deli that's divided into kosher and non-kosher sections, and a decent fish/seafood counter. Everything else about the store is pretty standard. I still hate that they typically have only one express lane open at a time. But the selection of products will keep me coming back. read more

My wife and I had an issue at self check out and a supervisor by the name of Heidi G. did absolutely nothing to assist. She was definitely more attentive to her co workers than the customers. When I asked her for help, she stayed put, shouted instructions in a demeaning tone from a few feet away. I was appalled and embarrassed. My wife didn't appreciate how she was handling the situation and planned on speaking to her supervisor. Heidi went into defense mode and started raising her voice and speaking to my wife like she was in the club. 100% attitude, rolling her eyes etc. My wife has been in the military for 20+ years. If upper management happens to read this, I'd be happy to refer you to programs where you can hire well deserved veterans that would respect their job and their customers unlike the immature youngsters that you hire. read more

Okay - so I pretty much hate shopping at price chopper except at this one and the one further out Central. They carry an incredible selection of Asian, Latin American and Caribbean goods. While I pretty much can't tolerate the rest of their stuff but damn 8 kinds of Mojo sauce? It reminded me of my best friend's abuela's bodega! Seriously I'm in like. The only negatives were that I was in Price Chopper and I couldn't find any dried hominy to make pozole. They did however have 3 different brands of cooked hominy, and even had a #10 can of the stuff (in case I was having a pozole party). This place is located right next to an office building I have been working in for the past decade. We commonly do some shopping here on our lunch breaks. The staff here are very rude and act like you are bothering them when you ask them for something. If you happen to want to take a chance on some their lunch items you will spend 10 minutes at the same counter that just handed you your food waiting to pay for it. I have seen some of the very worst things in this store. I watched an employee with thick black rubber gloves on handling a container of hot gravy with both sets of his gloved fingers sitting in the gravy as he put the gravy into the display case. When I brought it to his attention he wiped his gloved hands on his apron and walked away. There is no reason to patronize this extremely disgusting store. read more

I too will praise the Central Ave Price Chopper (my local grocery store) for its recent renovations. I've always been a fan of the ethnic sections of the grocery store, as I've spent a bit of time overseas and have come to love some specific foreign goods. So I was overjoyed when my formerly dingy grocery store added this large new array of goods! German mustard and British biscuits and sauces and even processed peas! And then the Indian marinades and Hispanic cheeses, so much variety now. Yea, the lines can get long, but they do at most grocery stores. read more

This place has really declined and become quite a great place to shop if you want to be treated rudely or taken for granted as a customer. At rush hour during weekdays between 5 and 6 they normally had 2 registers open for express. You now have ZERO open and instruct customers to use the self check out registers. My answer to that is NO Thanks if I wanted to work at this store I'd fill out and application. Usually there are long lines because management has a hard time staffing the place or they just don't care about customers and cut corners with less help. Today was it for me and my business is going elsewhere. Power was out when I arrived but went inside store. An employee came in right after me and I politely said hi what's up. He gave me a short reply "that the power is out. MMMM... really so I said to him "somebody forget to pay the electric bill and he became really sarcastic and said yeah that's it while walking away from me. I treat people with respect until I'm disrespected so making sure he could hear me I loudly spoke F**K you, you're an asshole and he just kept on walking. I used to go here quite a bit for lunch, but now it's a little more rare of an occasion. The salad bar is wicked expensive, a salad with the same exact ingredients as a pre-made salad is almost twice the cost just to give you an idea, but I was trying to eat healthy so that's what I generally went for. That is until I saw a homeless man picking food out of the trays with his fingers and eating it while other employees just walked by either not noticing or not caring. I stopped one of the employees and pointed it out because... well his dirt covered hands were getting washed off in the food that they are supposed to be selling, and I was originally going to eat. I obviously wasn't going to get a salad that day, however, so as I looked around for something else the store manager showed up and asked the man to leave, which he did without incident. But then, they didn't remove the food, they didn't replace the food, they just walked away and let a half dozen people fill up their salad containers from the same trays that this guy was eating out of. The man was up, and down, both sides of the counter and had his filthy hands in most of the trays, then in his mouth, then in the trays again, and they were letting their paying customers consume it without question which I think is pretty obnoxious of the employees alone but far worse for someone in a position of leadership like a store manager. The store itself is generally clean, pizza and other made to order food, is pretty good and kept out of reach of patrons so that is ok, but probably not a great idea to eat on a regular basis. The staff behind the counter generally don't know what planet that they are on, are barking at one another, or are less than thrilled to be there, but every now and again you come across a helpful friendly person. The eating area, aside from the main store, is usually covered in food, or garbage because it doesn't get cleaned that often. I will however say that the seafood department is generally top notch, clean, the workers seem to actually care about what they are doing and selling, so if you go here I suggest getting the fish fry, or pizza, other than that just be mindful of what you are getting and where you are. read more

I loved this Price Chopper until they changed their policy about delivering cooked food, steamed fish in particular. I had been involved in a motor vehicle accident and was bed ridden and unable to cook my own meals because of a back injury from the crash. I informed them that I was not concerned about receiving the food hot and ready to eat the moment it came to my door, but they still refused to deliver the steamed fish I had requested. I did the smart thing and called their competitor Shoprite, who were a total delight to work with and delivered the cooked fish with out a complaint. read more

I only went to this location for authentic Mexican enchilada products which I found most, but I was ready to leave them all there for the lack of customer service. I waited in one of the three open lines for 10 mins, then was told to move to another "faster line" which was the worst advice ever. I got stuck behind three ladies who were contesting pennies. Then they discussed their personal menu sales to the cashier who neglected to scan my items because she was chatting. I spent an hour in line. The cashier then proceeded to check her phone multiple times, ignoring me. I even had to ask her to put my bag of rice in a bag, to which she seemed appalled that I asked for a bag with handles and that she does her job.
