For the store manager - PLEASE do a better job forcing your staff to do their jobs, or fire them. I want to shop at hannaford, maybe for the wrong reason, I grew up with Shop n Save in Oxford ME, then hannaford bought them out, then you became owned by the Belgium company Delhaize since 1999. But yesterday, 1/3/2026, at least 50% of the produce section was wilted, and many bags of lettuce had leaves with brown rotted edges. Almost all peppers had wrinkles up near the stems, carrots were even wrinkly which means they are at least a month old. Things were flatly in-sellable and yet you had them on display trying to trick customers into putting it into their baskets. What is going on? I doubt the utter lack of freshness has anything to do w corporate policy, as Delhaize has ridgid Guidelines to ensure incredible freshness. I will walk thru next Saturday with my camera to get shots of all wrinkly and rotted things to post on line. read more

Living at the Highlands retirement community I am one of the many seniors that frequent the Hannaford in Topsham and take important advantage of the pharmacy several times a week. Today the pharmacy waiting line extended out the inner doors into the cart area while there were "5"staff segregating pills and filling prescriptions with only one open window for customers. It would have been so helpful to briefly assign a second staff person and open a second window to assist seniors waiting needlessly absent a simple, brief staffing adjustment? read more

Just about the worst hannies ive ever been to. Had nothing you needed and surprisingly small. Couldn't even find the f broccoli and they had no ramen (not even out they just didn't sell it) A true lack of inventory like others said. Had auto-lights on the frozen section and half of them didn't even work. Id rather do my grocery shopping at cvs. Living off pringles and arizona ice teas is better then going into this trap house. More spacious than the one nearby. More cheerful than most I have seen. More carts of all sizes! IT'S TOPSHAM HANNAFORD! I always, always love coming to this location. I have been to a bunch of Hannaford's in Maine and maybe I am bias because it's in my hometown and that I could walk blind folded through it, but I really like this one in comparison to other Hannafords and to other grocery stores. The aisles are wide enough for two carts, the flow makes sense to me, and most of the sales associates are cheerful and polite. They have a great return policy if something happens to be spoiled (happened once to me in the million items I have bought from the produce section). read more

Seems ridiculous to write a review on a grocery store, right? Well not so fast. I'm not usually a brand loyalist. I like to shop where convenience and price meet selection. For me, the topsham Hannaford is the best option in a 15 or 20 mile radius. Not only is the parking a million times more convenient than other local stores, the facility itself is clean, spacious, and comfortable. It feels like home. Now don't kid yourself, if you walk in on obvious "busy times" there will be a wait. (The day before thanksgiving, the Super Bowl, July 3rd, Etc). The staff is friendly and courteous while being efficient. The grocery selection is on par with larger retail chains while putting a heavy emphasis on local produce. (Which I appreciate) Prices are fair and they will make an attempt to stock items if you request them and if there have been a few other requests. The only minor complaint is that the beer aisle is severely lacking. I don't knock them for it as there is a major beverage warehouse down the road a quarter of a mile. This is my "go to" spot for groceries. read more

I am handicapped and not able to walk now so have to use motorized equipment to shop. The handicap parking is almost non-existant since the store and parking lot update so when I finally get into the store, I can no longer find the items I am looking for and with the exception of some employees cant seem to find help...am so done with this store..such a shame it has to be this way read more

I had the worse experience here last night. I just moved to Maine from Colorado and went to grab some items for guac and chips including a bottle of wine. The cashier carded me (which is fine) and gave my ID to the manager to check as it is an out-of-state ID (totally understandable). She came back with the smuggest look on her face accusing me of having a fake ID and that it looked nothing like what they had in their book of out-of-state licenses. Well, yes, they were correct it didn't look like the one in their book because Colorado recently rolled out a new model for licenses/IDs that are meant to prevent fakes from being created. Two of the managers involved were horrendously rude and treated me like I was a criminal, belittling me in front of multiple other customers because I look young. I am 4'9" and have medical conditions that caused me to be this short but there is never a reason to talk down to someone in the way both of these managers did. One of the managers confirmed that my ID was the new version via a quick and simple internet search but still wouldn't sell to me even after I presented them with my passport. This is the closest Hannaford to me so it's the one I typically go to for my weekly shopping trip. I was excited when they started the remodel, I had seen other Hannaford's already finished and loved it! Unfortunately, I feel they missed the mark for the Topsham store. They expanded the produce section and while it's beautiful and spacious now, none of that matters if they don't have great produce to go with it. The bananas are always completely green, I can't tell you how many times they were out of squash, radishes, asparagus and even cucumbers. Very frustrating! The aisles are so incredibly tiny and over crowded now. They used to have a great "natures place" section where I could get all my healthier and organic needs, but now everything is sprinkled throughout the store making everything much too busy with everyone wandering around searching for things that used to be all together! The checkout lines are the worst part of all. Lines are often backed up into aisles which is hard on everyone. They will have multiple 14 items or less lanes open when there's only a couple people in them, especially with having the self checkout now, it's totally unnecessary. (But the self checkout is a plus for me when I'm running in for just one item) Sometimes my wait at check out is a half hour which is more than I even spent shopping. Over all the staff are friendly and prices are good- just make sure to check your receipts before you leave as sometimes coupons don't come off your total or they double charge you for an item! read more

Ok the pharmacy manager is great. I was looking for a product I couldn't find and she gave me a home remedy that really worked. I did use the home remedy and was thrilled. Later on, I did find the product I was looking for and I just want to thank the pharmacy manager (cant recall her name) for all her help! read more

Just went to Hannaford's on Sunday morning for my weekly order. At the checkout I chose, Meagan and Sam stood ready to get me on my way. Meagan was fast, friendly, and effecient and I can't say enough about how wonderful Sam was. He is the best and was so happy and friendly, unlike some clerks elsewhere who make you feel like you're invisible. What a pleasant experience! read more

Almost two weeks ago I submitted a customer-request form at Hannaford's in Sabattus, ME, and, as yet, have received no answer, i.e., yes, no, maybe, sometimes or always. I highly resent being ignored. Is that your idea of paying lip service to someone? That way you don't really have to do anything about it. Your store sucks eggs! If it's a question of shelf space or it's not possible to get it from the warehouse, then MAYBE you should possess the professionalism and courtesy to return that individual's call. You obviously don't; however, I do subscribe to the philosophy that you can judge someone's character (or lack of it thereof) by how long it takes someone to return your call.
