But I've always appreciated their delicious roasts! I had the opportunity to check out their open house in December and am so glad I braved the cold and snow to do so. I'm not entirely sure if they're open to the public normally, but part of me hopes they are (or would consider it at least two or four times a year). This is a beautiful space that should be celebrated and used as frequently as possible. We got to sample many different blends and actually watch coffee roast (which I had no idea was such a quick process - from white to yellow to tan to brown). Also, wanna talk about passionate, community-oriented people? The folks behind the Wicked Joe (and Bard) brand(s) definitely are; and they're intensely knowledgeable about coffee, too. What you don't know is that the entire Bard staff is trained thoroughly at this Wicked Joe locale on a set-up identical to one at the actual coffee shop. Each barista has to make every drink on the menu perfectly before they can serve you at Bard. My respect for that coffee shop multiplied by a thousand when I found that out! Also, as a side note, the actual roast of the coffees are different for the two brands - definitely important to remember and point out!

One waitress and a bus man ran the frontside and two cooks and a wash boy worked the backside. We arrived and were the only ones in line, as a party of two we waited 30 minutes to be seated. The convenience store and dinning area were anything but clean. Dirty floors, old spiderwebs hanging off the ceilings, and a collection of ?dirtt¿ on top the coolers and every other available surface. The saving grace for the Settlement was the actual food. I ordered the big breakfast that came with 2 eggs, bacon, two slices of French Toast, crispy deep fried home fries, and an English muffin (a.k.a. butter sponge) all for $12! My date had the Oatmeal and white toast and a side of French Toast. The food was well prepared and flavorful. 6/10 for this corner store staple in Sabattus!

The majority of them, during my teenage and young adult life, were smaller establishments built with brick and had this pale brown color with the Cumberland Farms logo. They only had spots to pump gas and it was a hot spot for those who like to play scratchers. This location started across the street from where it is today as Staff D. pointed out in her review, and bought the land on its current location and upgraded to a Super Cumbies, well they don't call it that, but one could surmise that is what it would be called. They now have twice the number of gas pumps and the store is nearly 3 times larger. They increased the height of the ceiling, added more fridges and a walk-in fridge to browse the number of beers they offer from your typical corporate beers to some locally craft beers. The quality of the food and snack offerings has significantly gotten better and despite some still labeling it as "gas station food", you have to appreciate the rebranding and upgrades they made to the slushy machines, the coffee station as well as a touch screen ordering system to order some of their upgrade menu selection. I personally enjoy the new look and it was a wise move on their part to upgrade because who complains about a 99 cent coffee all day, and everyday. They do have to compete with Dunkin next door to them, but Dunkin does not offer gas and Cumbies does. Stop in and check out the place if you haven't seen it.

Plus... we take advantage of the SmartPay rewards they have for discounts on gas, coffees, and other various items which is a plus.

We made a point to stop by Wilbur's on our way to Boothbay Harbor (also in Maine for those who don't know), and we are so glad we did. This is primarily a candy shop... but it is so much more. They have other food items, home decor, gift items, and of course, lots of chocolate. We bought a couple of stuffed animals for our grandchildren, as well as some flavored sauces in a jar (to be poured over ice cream), and we couldn't leave without buying some chocolates !
