Truly the best little store in the heart of Bath. Between the abundance of quality food products, to the local lunch, bread and dessert items brought in almost daily, to the charm of the old building itself, it's a wonderful experience from the moment you walk through the door. The staff are warm, kind and friendly and always happy to help. Supporting other local business, stores and farms in the process of providing you with all of the essentials you need on their own, it would be a shame not to at least give this store a visit. I love Bath Natural Market! My staples from there are Holy donuts (We'd/Sat), SLAB pizza, veggies, hair/body products, incense and so much more! Everyone is very friendly and helpful! What a gem for Bath. I popped in here bc I had a recipe calling for ginger root. Not a lot of stores just have the lying around.. But this place did. I explored a bit and was pretty surprised with all the place had given it being a small store. Local and organic staples.. I have stopped into this market on two recent trips to Bath and am always pleased. The selection of products is great, especially for someone like myself with several dietary restrictions. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their products, as I had several questions and ended up chatting with the girl behind the register for quite a while about non-GMO, organic and fair trade certifications. She was obviously well-informed, which is not always the case in specialized markets, so that was quite nice. I found several items I had never seen before in other small natural markets, and lots of local Maine products and produce. My only reason for 4 out of 5 stars was that there was a very small selection of baked goods, which was the main reason I came in. They were out of almost everything except for one type of bread, and I was hopeing for at least a muffin for breakfast the next day. Coming from a large city on the west coast to this quaint, but well-stocked little store is refreshing. Everything is well organized, the staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable, and the owner is present and involved first-hand in daily operations. Having recently found celiac disease in my kids, I had a million questions about gluten free products and options. Mark, the owner, was very helpful in answering my questions. He even mentioned than he has tried several restrictive diets, such as gluten-free, just to better understand the needs of his customers. The store staff and cashier were very friendly and just as knowledgeable in their departments. The shop itself is very clean, organized, and has a diverse offering of natural and organic products. It is also apparent from the tasteful advertising paraphernalia for upcoming community events as well as displays of local products, that this is a store that is invested in its community. I left feeling healthier just for being in the store, and brought with me an amazing bag of all-natural organic trail mix (that I mixed myself from the vast array of bulk berries, seeds and nuts) that made my trip up the coast to Acadia very enjoyable. read more

This shop has gone through several incarnations, and several owners. Currently, it's a bit disappointing. The staff is sporadically helpful, and generally more inclined to chat amongst themselves than to answer questions from customers. The owner, however, is somewhat over-familiar; he tries too hard to be chummy, then he's cracked jokes about my family members (whom he does not know) that I felt were inappropriate. It's a headache I don't need when all I want is a jug of milk. While the store has a decent selection for its size, a word of caution is in order: check the sell-by dates on everything. As I do this as a matter of course, I have avoided a number of grocery items that have expired, or are just on the cusp- dairy goods are a top offender here. I'll continue to stop in here on occasion, when I need an item and don't have time to drive elsewhere. And I am eternally hopeful that every business in my hometown, including Bath Natural Market, can make the improvements needed to thrive, and to keep its customers happy. read more

The product selection is pretty good considering the size of the place. It can't be more than 2000 sqft. One thing they have made room for and (bashfully) is something I buy every time I go, is organic wine. Good location, great service and definitely a friendly atmosphere. I was going to give 4 stars but the 5th is for the organic wine selection. read more

I stop here whenever we are next door at the Irish pub Byrnes next door. I get the yogurt pretzels. They have a good variety of natural foods and stuff that warrants a stop if nearby. Parking is street only so look around. read more

What a lovely health food market! A friend took me here after picking me up from the airport so we could grab some beans and veggies for dinner and I was happy to find so many organic and locally-grown foods. I also picked up some tasty bulk granola, organic fruit, and a vegan dessert at the counter. Score! read more

What makes Bath Natural Market exceptional? First of all it's in downtown Bath. That means convenient parking on or off-street. Even more convenient is the highway access. But most convenient of all is that it's a short walk from the bulk of Bath residences. Yeah, no car needed in Bath if you're lucky enough to live and work within Bath's "new-urban" layout, its elegant shipbuilder mansions and Greek Revival residences compactly arrayed along the Kennebec! If you're as addicted to local food, a really healthy diet, and good advice as I am, then this is the place. Owner Mark is always ready with informed suggestions and the staff could not be more congenial, unlike junk-food pit-stops I could name. I buy a couple of supplements there regularly but also a fresh loaf of Black Crow bread. That item is hard to get elsewhere, being from one of Maine's smallest but finest bakeries. It's on the order of Portland's Standard Bread, if you're into good bread. Now here's a little anecdote on great service: I'm a nut for authentic Middle-Eastern yogurt. So Mark orders just that especially for me-- by the case! It's called Erivan, if you'd like to step up to the real thing (not the typical sweet puddings that flood this category). By the way, don't be paranoid about the "safe" sell-by date. Real yogurt is inherently long lasting by its nature, as those who know can confirm. read more

I really love this place. I have these little bottles that I got jam/jelly in one Christmas and saved them. I take them to this market and they weigh them before I fill them with spices I need and then weigh again when I check out. That is pretty neat and also SAVES me so much money. Last time I filled the jars it cost me a WHOPPING $1.12 and that included a honey stick for my granddaughter!!!!!! read more
