The best I can say is that the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was nobody at the front desk when we arrived and there were 6 people ahead of us who had seen nobody. We were not given the Wi-Fi password or a list of amenities or nearby services. There wasn't even a coffee maker. The tub lacked a drainage stopper, and there weren't enough towels. They changed their name to Baymont. However, no name change will cover up what is wrong with this hotel. The outside looks like a condemned and abandoned building from the slums. They have yanked out the ice and vending machines leaving exposed wiring and pipes. There was a giant hole in the wall where someone had ripped out the phone jack from the wall. The air conditioner was coughing up it's last breathe while we were using it and never got the room cooled. The hard tack biscuits for breakfast left a lot to be desired. The only bright spot was the staff. All super friendly and very helpful. The pool was clover shaped and had a 2 foot and 3 foot areas for the kids to swim in. I stayed at the Hannibal Inn as a young girl, many years ago. I don't remember the quality, but I do remember the FUNDOME. According to the website, the hotel has a "New Look, New Style. . .New Life." I'm not sure when the look was "new," but my hotel room definitely hadn't had any new life in ages. I was pretty excited to stay at this hotel, and the website made it look great. The queen executive room, in particular, didn't have the standard ugly, itchy looking, standard hotel bedspread. I guess even hotels have internet disease. I paid upfront, which was my first mistake. The man who checked me in gave me twenty questions about my stay, which, as a female staying alone, it made me a little uncomfortable. Still, I had high hopes. The room had a stale smell. The pillowcases were stained/or my sheets weren't clean. The toiletries were used. There were a few gnats hanging out, too. The sink was clean and the trash can had been emptied, so I guess that's something. The hotel promises free wifi. They should promise free wifi. . .if you are able to get a signal. For a place with three connection options, one would think that a stable signal would be easy to find. How can I Yelp about a hotel, if my internet connection is unstable? Perhaps they predicted my review. I decided to suck it up and stay anyway. On the second day, housekeeping had cleaned the room, and it smelled a lot better. It felt fresher, but not enough to change my review. Oh, and the towels were missing when I got back. I called the front desk, and reported the missing towels and the used toiletries. After a three hour wait, I went to the front desk and finally got my towels. Upon checking out, there was no one to be found. I tried the front desk phone, and no one answered. Finally, someone wandering around asked if I needed help. How am I supposed to check out by 11:00, when no one is around at 10:45? I guess this is more of a vent than a review, but hopefully someone will find it useful. I gave the hotel an extra star, because the cable was excellent. It wasn't standard hotel cable with selected channels. It had most of the channels of a standard home cable package. I was impressed by that. Oh, and also, the FUNDOME was still pretty fun. I'm going to stick my neck out a little and give the Hannibal Inn four stars. I see that other reviewers did not like the Hannibal Inn, some of them saying it is dirty. I'd agree that the exterior is horrible. When we initially drove in I almost thought it was an abandoned hotel. Once we entered, though, the lobby was presentable and the rooms were neat and decent. Mind you, I am not talking the Sheraton or even a modern Days Inn. The Hannibal Inn is an older hotel, so it has mileage. Small chips in the paint or picture frames, for instance. I have, however, stayed in worse, and considering the low price I was pleasantly surprised. The room was not dated and had reasonably classic styled furnishings/décor. Everything like the unit A/C, the coffeemaker, the plumbing, the phone, internet, etc. worked. The room was a bit dim due to the architecture of the inn. There is a huge courtyard with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, billiard tables, exercise room, and video game arcade. The pool closed late and was very warm. Since there were not many guests we either had the pool to ourselves or shared with one other family. The video arcade needs to be turned on by calling someone at the front desk. Be warned that several of the machines are old and need service (buttons/controls not working properly, video display faulty, machine not plugged in). The large array of recreational items gave the hotel character and I became a little fond of it. They do have a hot breakfast, but I found it had some holes in it. For instance, no hot water or plain water. I had to go to the lobby drinking fountain for drinking water. No hot water means no tea. No tabasco, and the selection of bread could be bigger. They did have protein (sausages, eggs, bacon), though. The Hannibal Inn is not for everyone, and I suspect my favorable opinion is in the minority. I suggest the Hannibal Inn for travellers who want something affordable, can see past the exterior, don't mind cosmetic imperfections in the room, and like recreational options. read more

Great price. Older hotel with over 200 rooms but currently they only rent out 20. Room was clean. No hot water. We've stayed in worse that cost more. Breakfast really wasn't. We passed it up for Denny's! Old TV. Not a lot of electric outlets. Good bang for the buck! read more

We pulled up to this hotel and it looked abandoned. We walked into the lobby and we had a little more hope that the hotel was going to be ok. When we walked into the pool area to get to our room it was like walking into an old 80's Holiday Inn. I remember these as a kid. This hotel hasn't been updated since the 80's and is completely run down. In our room when we took a shower the shower head was like an old 80's massage head and took most of the skin off my body. When I dried myself off with the hotel towel it was so scratchy it took the rest of my skin I had left off. The hotel just looked like it was shut down in the 90's and reopened 5 yrs ago without any updates. I know price is cheap but I wouldn't recommend. read more

The hot tub was nice (thought the bubbles didn't work). The pool was huge, but too cold to swim in. Breakfast was good. We had to ask for clean sheets because ours were stained and had hair in them. The ceiling was moldy. The wallpaper was falling off the walls. The chair and one bed was broken. It was just gross. So gross we slept with our clothes on. read more

We went up there this last weekend. The have a really nice size pool with lots of lounge area around. The pool and lounge area are great! This used to be a Holi-dome, one of Holiday Inns big thing in the late 70's. The rooms were adequate and clean. Let's be honest, you're only considering the Hannibal Inn bc you are wanting to save as much $ as possible while not sacrificing too much on comfort. Well, you'll save $ here, but the comfort is minimal. The back half of this large hotel was dark and vacant, and the lobby had stained chairs from 1960. The phone in the room was out of The Shining, and the pool area was cool but eerily quiet. But the bed was comfortable and room was pretty clean. However, the breakfast was so minimal that you'd want to plan on eating out with the $ you saved. read more

My friend and I stayed here on a vacation trip and we were pleasantly surprised. I'll admit from the outside, it looks like an absolute dump, either ghetto or totally abandoned, but the room was decent and they have a very nice heated indoor pool and hot tub area in the center. It reminded me of places we stayed at on family trips when I was a kid. Different than all the identical Holiday Inns and Marriotts you see nowadays. This place had personality. I stayed here and have a few thoughts to share. Dont stay in a hotel room off the fundome - i dont think the exhaust fumes from the air conditioners in the rooms surrounding the fundome are very healthy. next, if they give you a room you dont like, ask for another one before paying. check it out before! A lot of people including me noticed that the long hallway's lights are turned off, the manager said it was to conserve energy.. NOTE TO HOTEL - LEAVE THE LIGHTS ON BECAUSE IT IS CREEPY AND RATHER DANGEROUS. Anyone could pop out at you in the dark. In fact, I got creeped out when I was entering my room from the hallway and another man down the hall was waving to me. Scared me because i was not sure if he thought I was the maid or if he wanted to be friendly or if he wanted something else I'd rather not be interested in. if you know what i mean. My room was depressing and not like the photo because the photo showed the room to be light, but my room had dark red and brown colors (curtains for one). Very depressing! I should have asked for another room, but when you are traveling and am happy to be at your destination, I didn't think about that. oh well. There were a few things missing from my room, and I asked them to bring it to me - and they did, so I suppose if you notice something, they will fix it. I did not notice any broken stuff laying around, but I did find the place to be kinda like the Bates Motel and you can have a little fun imagining that this hotel is like that Bates Motel. I dont know if the people running the place are doing the best they can do, or if they need lessons in customer service. most complaints were little inconvieniences and I just kinda laughed but i would say the lighits off in the hallway were something scarey for real and i wish they would change that. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!! I cannot believe how this place looks. The photos on the Internet are very diseaving. First we booked on Expedia and they didn't have the room we booked. We wanted a non smoking room pool side and we were told there wasn't one. I called expedia to cancel the reservation. However, the lady did agree to work with us. We ended up in a non smoking room with double beds after all. That was pretty confusing! While we were working on getting checked in a gentleman came back twice because he was given a key card to rooms with people in it. Speaking of key cards, the key cards say different hotel names on them and have different room numbers written in sharpie on them. Oh yes that made me leary. The place is so run down that it creeps me out. The room was just as crappy as everything else. It smells like smoke although it is supposed to be a non smoking room. I hectically tried getting on the Internet to find another hotel. I couldn't get connected so I went driving around to other hotels. The closest hotels were booked. I was so upset I was ready to just drive home. I called the front desk to ask how I could connect to the Internet. This time a man answered and asked me which one i was connecting to. I explained I tried ALL THREE connections. He advised he would reset the router and thankfully I was able to connect. I found another hotel after calling around and I immediately walked down to cancel my second night stay. I do not recommend staying here as there is nothing nice about it. Do not let the pool fool you. I have the feeling this place should be condemned. Not a good place for the kids either. Don't do it!! Trust me this place is horrible.
