Mark help me design my pond, which contains a large brick planter/bog and waterfall with a large lower pond. Our water is not treated, I've never added anything to treat it it is 100% natural filtration. The new store is great, with an enhanced selection. I miss Jack as we always visited and talked about our fish and trains. This year we added a second pond to give our trains something to cross over with our new bridges. We arrive and the store should have been open my husband and I get to the door where an older man is standing looking out into the parking lot who I assume is the owner and we tried to walk in and the door was locked and the man turns and walks away and stands behind the counter, clearly he saw us and chose to completely ignore us. We look at the hours posted by the door to double check when the store opens and we were there at the time they had listed. We went back to the car and sat for about 10min waiting and watching to see if the man would come back and unlock the door which he never did so we left. It's a shame the guy didn't want our business and didn't feel like opening the door on time because I usually spend a good bit of money when buying fish since I have 7 tanks but oh well their loss. I wouldn't return due this negative experience and after reading so many other reviews about how rude and unhelpful the man there is. I will continue supporting House of Tropicals and recommend them since I have never had anything but good service there.

Period. Don't listen to the negative reviews. We have had negative experiences with most of the other fish stores in the area, including the more commercial ones. After a number of years of doing this, we are pretty discerning customers when it comes to fish and plant health. We highly recommend this store. Look past the exterior and Mr. Bill's gruff demeanor at first. He knows his stuff for sure. Take the time. It is worth it.
