My family and I lived at Hanover West for a year while waiting for a 3-bedroom to become available, and overall our experience was really great. We did have a few issues with our unit, including black mold from an upstairs leak and the garage gate breaking often. However, I want to be very clear the staff here made everything worth it. The team goes above and beyond and is honestly the kindest group of people I've ever dealt with at any apartment community. Anytime something went wrong, they were on top of it and did everything they could to help. I truly believe some of the problems, like the garage constantly being damaged, were out of their control. The amenities are beautiful, and the property itself is really nice. If we didn't need a bigger place, we would still be here. I'd give the staff 5 stars on their own they made our experience so positive despite the challenges. I definitely recommend Hanover West, especially because of the people who work here. read more

Everything about this apartment complex is a scam. Upon entry to the lobby, you get the vibe that it's an upscale building with great maintenance and management. The staff acts kind and helpful up until you sign a lease and the moment you do, you are met with rude attitude and zero desire to help in any way. The trash chutes have never worked once and the trash rooms get so piled up with garbage on the floor that you can't even close the door. The smell lingers out in to the hallways and attracts flies. They towed a rental car of mine and made me pay the fees to get it out of the tow lot even after they had the license plate on file and agreed not to tow the car (parking costed nearly $400/mo). Upon finally ending the lease, I returned all key fobs and garage clicker, yet they tried to lie and charge me almost $350 in move out costs. Even after explaining that to them they proceeded to say we don't have any records of that and completely lied to my face about it even though I returned them. There is human poop surrounding the building, a person or dog consistently urinated on the side door to the building (in the alley) and the windows have been boarded up for months. This place is a nightmare to live in and you could ask any resident that lives there. I don't doubt for a second that they would disagree. Don't move here. read more

I've lived at Hanover for a little over an year and a half. Didn't have major problems up until this point. Mirna was my leasing agent initially and she was helpful and kind. This property has a sewage leak problem (been the case for a few months now) and because they had not taken care of the leakage, it finally hit its breaking point and there's sewage in the garage /basement with puddles of sewage water and particles floating in it. Sewage water is a bio hazard. I followed up 4x since the major leakage happened with the office ignoring my calls and requests in the resident portal. One of their staff tried to gaslight me and say that "sewage is not toxic". It smells (still does). Highly DO NOT recommend living here until this property turns this issue around and also their ability to respond to their residents in a timely manner with a helpful and non condescending tone. The five star reviews they are pushing people to do but most of them are from tours only and not actual residents. Hope this helps someone. read more

This place has really gone down hill. Since I have moved in 2 Vehicle's have been stolen, multiple homeless people have gotten into the complex and been found camping inside of back hallways. The porter who is now high on fentanyl actually LIVES IN THE MAINTENANCE CLOSET AND YOU CAN HEAR HIM SNORING AT NIGHT WHICH IS DANGEROUS! Trash is found everywhere and the front gate door is always open allowing any and everyone to just walk in! I have brought it up to the Manager Taylor & maintenance however, when I walked away (out of the leasing office) I could hear the maintenance staff making fun of my situation! I will not be renewing! The gentleman that answered my call was not too gentle and I believe his information that he gave me was incorrect. Basically he told me my income would have to be 3 times the rent. Rent was around $3700, so he basically told me I had to show proof I made $11,100 a month. That is after I told him I was on subsidized housing where the federal government would guarantee 90% of the rent. So if he would have asked his managers, legal, etc. I would not be on subsidy with a $11,000 monthly income. Wasted much time. read more

I moved in when they first opened in 2021 and lived there for 2 years. The only reason we left is because we have a baby, so it's time to move into a house. If you're reading this but haven't toured the place yet, you wouldn't want to miss out. If you're reading this because you just went on a tour but are still deciding, let me share my experiences with you. *The staffs You'll be in the good hands of a truly professional team here. Hanover has done something right to be able to find talent and have them bring their A-game to work every day. I've interacted with several of them, including Careena, Chelsie, Kat, Chris, and Mirna. I was used to property staff who didn't even bother to say hi after I signed the lease. However, the team at Hanover was absolutely wonderful to me from day one until the day my lease ended Mirna was the one I worked with the most, and she's absolutely a rock star. I had to report a noise complaint once, and Mirna made sure to follow up with me to ensure everything had been resolved. Right after my daughter was born, she noticed the new arrival and brought us a very thoughtful baby gift box with a handwritten congratulatory note to our door! And Mirna, if you see this, I noticed that every time I ran into you in the morning, you always said, 'Have a good day at work.' It might be a small thing, but it made a big difference in how I perceive your hospitality. *The amenities The property is beautiful, well-designed, and brand-new. The most important thing is that all the amenities are practically useful. - Many people work from the shared space in the lobby area. Yes, the Wi-Fi is strong, so you can definitely take Zoom meetings with an awesome atmosphere in the background. - The gym offers a great variety of equipment, and it's open 24 hours. You won't feel uneasy late at night because they have security on patrol. - I can't not mention the rooftop. The view is amazing, the furniture is comfortable, and you can invite guests for a BBQ party or game day. - The jumbotron is really fun during a big sports game. Residents and guests gather with a nice and welcoming community vibe. *The safety If you have been to the place, you already know it's basically a maze. You need to have a fob for the elevator and also to go through some interior entrances. I never have to worry about breaking in. I also rented a parking garage and storage, and nothing has ever happened to my belongings. My friends visit me often and street park on Harrison; despite how SF is notorious for car break-ins, it didn't happen to any of my guests. *The location To be honest, SoMa got some spillover from the Tenderloin, so I'd say get yourself familiar with the area, and you will be okay. It's actually super convenient to hop on the freeway. It's walkable to Trader Joe's, Harvest Urban Market, Whole Foods, and Costco. Here are a few local owner places that are within walking distance, and I highly recommend them: - Coffee shop: Cafe Suspiro, Sextant, Dento - Food: Basil Thai, Rocco's, Deli Board - Bar: Rumors, Bloodhound, Decant, Raven - Corner store: Welcome supermarket, Diana Market Overall, I had an awesome time here. I toured Hanover on a weekday without an appointment and the staff who greeted me were warm and welcoming. PROs - STAFF MANAGEMENT I do not remember the name a the man who gave me the tour but he was excellent. He was open, honest, knowledgeable about the apartment complex and living in downtown San Francisco. He was excellent! - APARTMENT AMENITIES These apartments were a little more expensive than the others I looked at downtown but the amenities were really nice. This apartment complex was by far the best I seen in the middle of downtown in this price range. - APARTMENTS Everything in the apartment looked new and well taken care of. These apartments have A/C which is rare for apartments in this price range. The size was comparable to other 2 bedroom apartments in downtown. CONs - As many have said, these apartments are a little more expensive but considering the PROs I listed above it's understandable and reasonable. Summary I didn't choose these apartments because I found a unit that was closer to my work and budget but this is definitely a complex you should take a look at if you're moving to San Francisco. read more

Extremely unpleasant apartment tour experience - the management company seems to not have enough competent staff to deal with everything going on. We arrived at the tour 15 minutes late after notifying them through voicemail and had to wait 35 minutes to be able to attend the tour. Throughout this entire process an older lady (seemed like she was a front desk) kept telling us that it would just be a little bit until the tour, but if she had been truthful with the actual amount of time I would have to wait, I could have just rescheduled instead of wasting an hour of my time. She then proceeded to leave the building with no communication and left my group and another prospective tenant with no one to coordinate with. It was by then that I had to ask for a tour myself after the leasing agent finally came back. There wasn't even an apology, acknowledgement, or thank you for how long we had to wait. The lack of internal communication and sense of urgency is not something that should be occurring within an apartment leasing and management office. read more

She gave me a thorough tour of the building and answered all of my questions around amenities, specific units ( I have quirky preferences like not having my kitchen/closets be located on the right side when entering --- I know my brain works weird lol and the unit not facing the freeway ) . She was patient and toured me the units based on what I listed and went over any expenses I might see on the lease . Communication via phone and email was prompt/quick. I am currently on a knee scooter and the entire apartment is extremely accessible and easy to navigate on wheels. The units are large and easy to navigate on wheels too. We were able to see staged units as well as empty units and the amenities are incredible. Screening room, megatron patio with the warriors games, rooftop patio. **horrible experience and be wary of fake (all-5-star) reviews!!** TLDR: - The leasing staff Kat is extremely rude - Most likely fake reviews (zero non-5 stars, many written by non-SF people, or people with no other reviews, all written 2-3 weeks ago) Fake reviews: This is a new apartment (a few months old), yet it already has 48 reviews on Google, ALL of them are 5 stars. Most of the reviews happened during a single week of July 2021. By comparison, another apartment nearby had overall 4.2 stars, a variety of reviews dated yrs back, and in total 24 of them. Hanover is quite an outlier. Even more interestingly, most of the reviewers have done no other reviews on Google besides this one. Among the few people who did have another review at all, most of their reviews are for places outside of the bay area (PA, OH). This means likely most of these are fake reviews done by the management company. If you don't trust me, click through the reviewers and check it yourself. Even the review contents are super vague and mostly praising individual leasing staff members. Btw, Hanover had 2 reviews on yelp (also 5 stars, by the same people on Google) Hopefully Google can flag this one out as fake review boosted Full Interaction with Staff: I was initially very impressed by the complete 5-star reviews (not a single non-5 star review, should have been a warning sign) This was actually the first place we checked out in the city. But upon arrival, we were instantly rudely informed by the agent named Kat that the property touring is only scheduled phone calls (not even an online system) and told us to leave. I called the second day and waited on the phone for 10 minutes before being able to connect to someone to book the tour Before arriving, we were delayed by a different tour and arrived 15 min late. I tried to contact the Hanover leasing office but didn't find a direct number (only 855 #). After arriving at the leasing office, a leasing staff was on a call, so we patiently waited in the lounge area. 10 minutes later, Kat, the leasing staff came up to us. I apologized for the delay and said we booked a tour for 5 pm. She immediately looked at her watch and said, "it's 5:30, we close at 6". I explained our situation and she said "I will have to check with an agent on whether we are willing to take you" and came back a few minutes later and said, "let's reschedule you for tomorrow". At that point, her attitude and this entire experience simply crossed the threshold and we grabbed our bag and went for the door. During any of this process, Kat did not say a single "sorry" and refused to even tell us her name after I asked her repeatedly on our way out. Fortunately, I was able to catch it on her tag. Before I dive into how much we loved the property, I would be remiss if I didn't first mention the impressive guide we had in the leasing agent Breeayana Perkins. My partner and I toured Hanover SOMA West with Breeayana on 7/23/22. Breeayana could not have met us with a more kind demeanor. She met us at the door with the most pleasant and welcoming presence that assured us the luxury of this residence was in more than just the property. It was in the character of the people who represent it. The community environment cultivated in Hanover SOMA West is supported by the numerous outdoor spaces. Not to mention, a theatre, bike storage, fitness centre, 6 grills on property, two rooftop city view skydecks, numerous wi-fi equipped resident lounges with all the bells and whistles, and even a room dedicated to washing your four-legged family members! This property spared no expense and the cleanliness of it all may have been the most impressive feature. As for the apartments themselves, it was nice to see the variety of floorpans, state of the art full size appliances, walk-in closets, and central air (which is almost unheard of for residential spaces in the city). Though the floorpan we loved most is not currently available, we certainly hope a vacancy arises soon .Thank you again Breeayana for being so kind, informative, and welcoming to us. My packages got stolen multiple times, summing up thousands of dollars' lost, some of them were even gone within the same day of delivery. The management team was nowhere near helpful with the situation and refused to help me look through the security footage. The trashroom is never working. This is about the experience of my tour. TLDR: wouldn't trust the property managers to be helpful if I become a resident. Short story long. Arrived at the leasing office a minute or two into the scheduled time. The gentleman that's supposed to take me for the tour was in the middle of something else. Totally common. Happens all the time. I was like fine let me hold on to my id until he's ready for me. He came back a few mins later suddenly all hostile and tried to manipulate me into canceling the tour. Uhh this is a scheduled tour and I'm the one who's been waiting?? And he went on saying I am wasting his time. Seriously can't make this sht up. He eventually "gave in" and agreed to give me the tour (have to remind you it was scheduled). We checked out the amenities. All good. Typical for a building in this rent range. Then he tried to rush me when I just started to check out the apartment layout. Told me we should go to the next place. I asked what's next and he said there's nothing else to see. Ok. Seriously property management should give him a raise up to the standards of his precious time. Anyway, I thought that particular property agent was subjectively rude to me, tried to evade responsibility, and was manipulative in a not very smart way. The staff at the call center writes down your questions and promises that a leasing agent will get back to you, but you'll never get a callback. I tried calling several times and left several requests. It's been a week, and still no callback. I've even tried to email the leasing office, but they have not responded through email either. It may be a waste of time to tour this property if you live far from San Francisco. The way they advertise their prices online can be misleading. Giving Hanover 5 stars purely because of Krizia! My roommate and I were living out of state, and signed in October 2021 after a virtual tour with Krizia. We had been burned by a few rude property management staff in the city before, and Krizia was so patient and knowledgable in answering all our doubts and questions. I've lived in ~7 different managed apartment buildings and the team at Hanover West Soma has to be my favorite by a long shot. They made it such a pleasant experience to live there. They're extremely warm and go out of their way to make the community really feel like home.
