For 30 years I recommended this company believing they were the best in the region. I was sorely mistaken. They completed my cross country move managing to lose a painting that is both very valuable, but more importantly very dear to me. They are uninterested in helping to find out what happened, where my painting ended up and leaving me no option but to file a report of theft with the police department. I used Hanover Transfer and Storage for several years of storage, for multiple local moves between NH and VT and finally an interstate move to New York. When my items finally arrived in New York, everything was in great shape despite spending six years in storage conditions! The ink from the packing newspaper didn't transfer onto the dishes and even the fabrics were ready to use after a single wash - my items were clearly stored in a clean, dry facility with reasonable temperature control. The pricing for storage was very reasonable each month. The movers were patient, courteous and professional, even after a four hour drive down with traffic on a holiday weekend. The actual movers are excellent: careful, capable, and cheerful. We had a really good experience with them on moving day and I was happy to tip them extra. However, beware of hidden fees related to storage. We stored some items with them prior to the move, and there was a mysterious "storage delivery" fee added to the bill that was not included in the estimate. Just make sure your estimate is thoroughly and carefully prepared if you plan on storing with them prior or post move to avoid surprises when the present the final bill. read more

Avoid at all costs!!! Totally unprofessional!!! Set up an estimate with these guys and they did not show up. They said they lost they did not have the appointment in their system. They wasted an entire day and did not seem too apologetic. I can't imagine how anyone could trust them with a move if this is how they act for a simple estimate. A complete joke!!! We are really happy about hiring this group to do our move from VT to PA. We got quotes from 2 other movers, each company quoting within $1000 of each other, but we went with Hanover transfer because of how well they communicated with me. Nate answered my calls and questions immediately or called me back right away, and Steve did the same as the move date approached. The team of 4 guys were very professional and seemed to care about doing a good job - they were lead by the owner's son, which I appreciated, since it gave me the sense that he had a real interest in the success of the job. They were perfectly on time on both ends and everything was delivered and re-packed in our storage unit with care. Couldn't have been happier. It has taken them 2 weeks to get back to me with a quote. When they did finally email me back (after numerous phone calls inquiring as to the progress of my estimate) I was given a price that was DOUBLE what anyone else had quoted. Additionally, they cited that as "they did not have a truck" they would contract with NorthAmerican to haul my stuff. So essentially they just got a quote from NorthAmerican and padded it with their profit. Unprofessional. Such a change from the previous, reputable, owner. read more

I used Hanover Transfer for a quick move across the river and could not have been happier. They showed up on time and finished ahead of schedule. The three men who were in charge of my move were incredibly helpful and cheerful throughout the whole process. All my furniture was protected and arrived safely. I have one particular piece that is on its last leg and they were very careful with it during the move. They also came in under what I was originally quoted. We were told $30.00 transportation fee even though we were moving from third floor to second floor in same building and it was explained that that was the charge for driving to and from apartment. Was told it would be $82.00 an hour in addition to $30.00 for them to get there and return. I waited two weeks for scheduling us then told to have exact amount because they don't take credit cards. I called several times to confirm costs so college kid could have exact amount and was always told same amounts 3-4 times. They arrived at 8:22 and left at 8:50 and was charged $132.00 for half an hour! Very misleading and unprofessional with loud burping in hallways disturbing neighbors as well as misquoted several times. We were charged from time they left their business as well at $30. So paid twice for them to even get there before any work was done, pretty misleading and more expensive than what was quoted! Had other bigger moves planned in few months but would never use them again! read more
