If you live in West Seattle and have a VW, Audi, Karma Gaia, etc. these guys should be your go to for general maintenance and repair. Not to bad to get in and work is done quickly. Knowledge. I have used them for run or the mill stuff like coolant flush all the way to complete dash and heater core tear down. Joe and Hans Jr. communicate well, have found other issues that they brought to my attention before they became problems, and have saved me $$ on alternative repairs and parts. They are not cheap, but they are worth the $$ if you have a car you love or that you want or need to keep running smoothly.

Review of cheap, Chinese made compressor Hans installed instead of OEM unit as promised.

Unfortunately I can't leave zero stars. Took my car in to have the air conditioner fixed. Hans replaced the compressor with a cheap, Chinese made unit that made a loud, whining sound and cooled intermittently. When I took it back, they told me the noise was from the alternator, which they replaced. The noise and was still present after this and I declined to take it back to Hans again. Two other shops were able to easily diagnose a bad compressor and I had it fixed elsewhere. Hans declined to refund any money but I did get my credit card company refund half of my payment and I filed a small claims action against them for the rest. I would avoid taking my car here for any service, there are many more honest shops in Seattle.

    Fuel pooling and streaming.

Great family company. Been going there for years. Keeps my car running well, and quick fixes when things go wrong.

I received a grand total including tax and misc. fees. I called before approving the final total and the staff confirmed that invoice would be my *final* total and the document I signed was not an estimate. I was told no work is done without approval. So I e-signed the invoice as a binding agreement. Later I received an updated invoice, with an additional 90+ dollars. I called and was told that the mechanic "un-declined" services for me. I was calm and respectful and requested clarification. The mechanic I was handed to accused me of trying to make him work for free. I expressed to him that I had been told I had the final total, and I would not have been able to agree to if it had been any more expensive than I was quoted. He was very frustrated with me and told me he should have charged me $270 more, and I should be grateful he gave me a discount. I do not understand how I went from receiving "transparent" pricing which I confirmed, to being accused of being a malicious person. I was not rude and I do not know what I could have done differently to have gotten the information I needed to make an informed decision. For those reading the response, I have an invoice with a final total that shows I did not approve the $270 repair. I edited my review because the owner responded with a lie. Notice there was not an apology for the way I was spoken to, just the owners dismay at my having pointed it out. I spoke with an associate on the phone to confirm my total. I was then charged for something I can prove I declined. I won't worry about proving it to Yelp, I'll be filing the appropriate reports to governing bodies. I have copies of all three invoices. I had hoped it was a mistake but it doesn't seem that way.

Today, I went back because I started hearing this awful squeaky/grinding sound coming from one of my front tires/brakes. Emmanuel (Owner) put my car up on the lift, took off tire, examined it, and was able to find a small rock caught between the tire and the break. He showed me the rock and where it had lodged itself. After putting everything back together, he handed me my keys and sent me on my way-no charge at all, even though he spent a good 40 minutes fixing it!!! I'm so thankful for his help, his labor, and his precious time. Most importantly thankful for his honesty. He could've easily said I needed new parts, but he didn't. This time, I didn't even have to leave the shop. ( made an appointment yesterday) He took care of my car as soon as he became available. The only thing I didn't like was actually the customers in the small waiting room on their phone playing games with sound on and talking on speaker phone. No etiquette. :( Recommend by my friend who used to get service from the previous owner of this shop who also was an honest man. I will definitely continue to come back here.

If you want to know what it feels like to have business with a genuine, knowledgeable, honest,…read morereliable auto shop, then come here. I've never had bad experiences with them. I've been going here for about 3 years now and I will continue to use this shop exclusively. If they don't already have a good hunch of what is going on, they WILL find your problem and make it right. When 3 or 4 other shops (two European "specialty") could not help me, Swedish Auto simply reassured me yep, we can take care of you. That is exactly what they did. The rest is history. Swedish Automotive is excellently communicative, accurate, and again- they are HONEST. Their techs are skilled, and are able to get your vehicle repaired or just keep you up to date on your maintenance. I've said it in other reviews- you will not find the "cheapest" service here. That being said, what you get for your money is QUALITY fixes and maintenance. I have always gotten what I've paid for and I have never felt cheated out of my money, uninformed, or upset with the end result. I do not mean to sway people away by saying it's not "cheap" work. Ultimately, Swedish is incredibly fair with their pricing considering their know-how and the price of owning a Saab to begin with. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't expect your Jiffy Lube 29.99 oil change, but rest easy that whatever work you need done will be done to spec, with the customer (you!) in mind. Make your own choice- shop with Swedish Auto or don't, but if you are here reading this review, I would suggest that you give them a call and see what they can do for you. I am very glad that I did.
