Only towed my vehicle to this place because it was closeby and they said they could look at it the day of. They didn't even pull it into the garage and charged me $74 to tell me I needed a new Starter Motor. Which was already known. So here's the full story-- Called early morning Wednesday (7:09am), The mechanic that answered looked at the schedule and said he could take a look and to bring it in. It was towed and dropped off at 7:50am. They couldn't get to it (I'm a single mom so had to rent a car to pick up my son from school) They called me the following day Thursday at 12:40pm, telling me they didn't pull it into the garage or run a full diagnostic as I requested, but instead they tried starting it up and that the Starter Motor needs to be replaced. (We figured that much) -- Noticing I will need an oil change soon they added that in, for a total of $880.00 for the repair. I asked for the price without the oil change and she said $728. NEARLY $160 for an oil change is absurd. When I asked about the diagnostic and why I was being charged for a diagnostic when they didnt even give me any information we didnt already know, and they didnt run a full diagnostic, I was faced with an attitude and told "we could have charged you $140 for an hour of diagnostics, but we only charged you for a half-hour". I'm sorry does pushing the start button on a vehicle take 30 minutes? As someone that lives a block away and this is the most convenient place, I STILL wouldn't go back. I have been bringing both of my cars to Hanson's for a few years now. Mike and team are direct, honest, and give it to you straight, good or bad news. I have tried different shops all over the Nashua, Merrimack, Amherst, Tyngsboro area, including dealerships, as far north as Manchester, I have yet to find any place that beats Mike's prices, and service. When they got the new owner it went downhill. He has no service hands on experience other than a manager at a Mercedes dealership. The original owner for 40 plus years treated his customers with respect and fairness. Now its all about the money. Its sad that the old school the old owner took pride on is gone. After using a dealership (me) or a chain service center (husband) for convenience and getting crap service and poor workmanship (not to mention dishonest service) time and time again, we somehow stumbled upon this gem. We have been using Hanson's for a bit over a year now, and we get consistently quality and honest work. I lived in NH for about 8 years and always used Hanson's. I'm not knowledgeable about cars so a mechanic can rip me off if they want to. With Dennis, I never had that concern - The bill was always less than I was afraid it might be, and on more than one occasion they made a small repair or correction and didn't charge me at all. I recently moved to southern Florida and the last thing I did was ask Dennis to look over my vehicle and make sure it would safely get me 1800 miles in 72 hours. He found two things he felt were worth correcting, and the car performed flawlessly despite being 15 years old. Daughter had problem with brake noise, I looked online and saw good reviews and expected honest and genuine operators. Knew my daughter needed to get on the road. Up-charged AutoZone parts 100%, and $180 per hr labor for a 30 minute job. When I questioned over the phone, said he was a business man and needed to make money, said he would reduce price by removing some items. Of course that was a flat out lie, charged my daughter knowing she wasn't aware. Could they be good mechanics? Maybe. People you want to give your business to? Not a chance. read more

I have never been so happy to find such a great automotive shop that you can trust. I was so sick of other places always trying to talk you into fixing additional things in your car. With Hanson's I called the very 1st time and they said just to bring the car and they'd check it for me. After checking my car they EXPLAINED the issue and I didn't feel any pressure into fixing it because it wasn't an issue that needed immediate attention. When I finally did go back for them to fix it the price and the overall customer service was exceptional. I've been going to them for a little over a year and won't go anywhere else. At about 3 pm on a Friday, the eve of a long Columbus Day holiday weekend, my truck broke down in Nashua, NH. I was en route from the Boston area to Vermont, so nowhere near home or my destination with no likely chance of getting a repair before the following week. Alternator was shot - no electronics working, truck would not start. I called several local car repair places that I Googled. Fortunately, I reached Mike at Hanson's. He diagnosed the problem, shopped for the best price on a replacement, helped arrange a tow to his shop and promised to stay late if necessary to get me back on the road. I was back on the road by 4:15 with a new alternator. Another car repair, knowing I was in a bind, tried to gouge me with a price $200 higher than Hanson's charged me - with no offer to help me get it repaired that day. One of the worst experiences I have had! I brought my car here for some work to be done and it wasn't until a few days later I noticed they made a mistake. I didn't care too much about that, but what I took offense to was the attitude of the owner. When I returned, he was very rude by essentially shrugging his shoulders and telling me "eh it happens". Then when I tried to ask questions about it, he told me I had no idea what I was talking about. I admit I don't know a lot about cars, but that is why I was hoping to ask an "expert".
