Hanyo Grill is a pleasant, poolside dwelling on property at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass. It sits behind the main entrance. They have a limited menu here but certainly an upgrade from your typical poolside bar. The mountain scenery in the background is a perfect back drop, plus the seating is very cushy. We opted for the bar and enjoyed the comfy seats. I ordered a Hefeweizen (everything bottled) that was local to the region, San Tan. It was unique and delicious. I wasn't sure about my meal, chicken salad sandwich or turkey burger, but opted for the turkey burger after reading the ingredients w/ the fruit side. My turkey burger was quite possibly one of the best I've had, although I haven't had many. Cranberry Brie, candied pecans and apple slaw certainly added an amazing flavor to it. Fruit consisted of watermelon, black berries, melon and pineapple. My girlfriend had the sirloin burger and said it was really good (it looked good). We also had margaritas, and they were strong. Bartender did a great job of making the cost worth it. The bar scene was decent, not a ton of atmosphere there. Music wasn't bad but could barely hear it. This is a good stop if you're staying onsite. It could also be a nice, quick date spot.

A great place for bird lovers.

The bread on the sandwich was tough, the bacon bits were chewy, hard knots, and the sandwich was dry overall. The sweet potato fries were greasy and tough and not hot. Nothing about what I ordered today was good with the exception of the appetizer, which was the Crisp Korean Brussels and Cauliflower. It was hot, delicious and plentiful so I did not go hungry. Our server was friendly and prompt. He was very quick to refill my drink. I will say that both my chair and our table rocked terribly, so was not very comfortable. Hoping for a better experience on my next visit.

The full menu has many creative options and also traditional italian dishes. I was tempted to skip the special menu to order from that. Our service was wonderful all throughout our meal. Very friendly and helpful waitress. The food was delicious with thoughtfully crafted sauces and flavors. I would have liked some actual lobster in the bisque, but it was quite flavorful nevertheless. The pork entree was butterflied and on the bone. Quite delicious and a generous portion size. Two grown men had to take half of it home as leftovers. The eggplant was reminiscent of a homemade family recipe and laden with gooey cheese. The gelato to finish the meal was rich and creamy. I wish the restaurant wasn't so loud inside but the patio seating would have been better to accomplish that, if the weather was nice. We will definitely need to come back to try out some of the other menu options. Definitely a great new find to our restaurant options in the east valley.

We ended up ordering the smoked wings. The wings were good and large in size. My husband ordered the tender and potatoes. He was underwhelmed by the breading on the tenders. All-in all, very nice establishment. The frozen margaritas were good. I was very buzzed off three of those. Our waitress was great and friendly. This restaurant definitely delivers on ambiance and overall experience. From the moment you walk…read morein, you're greeted with a warm, rustic feel--beautiful stonework, a cozy fireplace stacked with wood, and high wood-beamed ceilings that give the space an upscale lodge vibe. The bar area is especially eye-catching, fully stocked and glowing with color, and the dining room feels open yet still comfortable. Service was solid--friendly, attentive, and everything came out in a timely manner. For food, we ordered the Durango burger and the chicken pasta, and just a heads-up--the portions in the photos are half sizes because we split both entrées. The Durango burger looked thick, juicy, and absolutely amazing when it arrived... but unfortunately, it lacked flavor. We tried adding ketchup to bring it to life, but it still didn't quite hit that "wow" factor. The chicken pasta had a strong first impression--it was spicy and tasted really good on the first few bites. However, after a while, it started to lean a bit too salty. Also, I wish there had been more chicken in the dish to balance everything out. On the bright side, the pineapple martini was a win--refreshing, smooth, and definitely something I'd order again. Overall, this place shines in atmosphere and service, with food that's good but just a step away from being great. With a little more balance in flavor, it could easily be a 5-star spot.

We had to send our appetizer back because it wasn't warm at all. When our entrees arrived, they weren't hot either. At that point we didn't want to wait any longer, so we ate a little and took the rest to go. Our server James was honestly great. No complaints about him at all. He was attentive, kind, and did his job well. The food runners, however, were pretty disappointing. The girl who dropped off our appetizer didn't say a word, just set it down and walked away. Later we asked her for plates and never received them until the very end of our meal when she suddenly remembered. As a restaurant owner myself, these are the small things I know can make or break an experience. Temperature, communication, and basic attentiveness matter. James deserves better coworkers supporting him, because he was doing his part. The food itself was good, but the execution and follow through need improvement especially when we're spending almost $200.

We were greeted promptly by name by the hostess, who then took us to our table, where 2 gentlemen awaited to pull out and push in our chairs and then place napkins on our laps. The restaurant is decorated with native paintings and decor there is plenty of space between tables - you are within ear shot of the party next to you but it remains quiet enough for you to converse within your party without competing with others. The view from the restaurant at sunset was incredibly beautiful. They have an outdoor patio that you can go out on for a photo op, and the wait staff was out right behind us to see if they could take some photos for us. Every time you were seated at the table, they would push in your chair and place napkins on your laps. Laura, Austin & Taylor were who assisted us in our dining adventure and they were all so incredible and attentive. Our water glasses never got below half before Austin was over filling them again. Kai offers a tasting menu with 7 courses, 4 of which you make a choice. My meal included: The Birth - From the Elders, The Beginning - Elk Ragu, The Journey - Bison, The Afterlife - S-Thoa Mu:n, & the Honey Dessert. All of which were delicious. Kai runs $195/person or $350 w/ Wine Pairing, and the service alone was worth that. Dining at Kai was such a unique experience. It takes between 2-3 hours for the full experience. Each menu has its own hand-painted indigenous art piece on the front. The staff greets you in the native language and they include traditions of the native people throughout the evening. Upon our decent, our car was ready at valet waiting for us - with a gift and card from our server. Which was such a nice touch.

You kind of have to have higher standards. Let's start with the great. The service was perfect, I didn't have a single worry or want the entire time I was there. The staff were very friendly and made sure everything was taken care of. Saying they were attentive was an understatement. Now to the good. The food tasted good. There were certainly no issues with any of the courses, and I enjoyed them all. Same with the cocktails. I enjoyed the flavors of the ones we tried. Now to the not so good(the pretentious part). The decor and vibes of the restaurant were very distracting. You walk into the hotel lobby and are greeted with an amazing view, then you keep walking and get into Kai... and you're greeted with a bunch of knick-knacks all over the walls that try to distract you from what is obviously just a hotel conference room. To continue the theme of vibe, it was also just so quiet the whole time we were there with a very low volume white noise ambiance. If my date and I weren't whispering, the whole room would be able to hear our conversation. That might be the preference for some finer diners, but for us it was a bit awkward. Next, I want to call attention to the 22-25$ cocktails we got. They were good, but they weren't 25$ good. I frequent cocktail bars and even they aren't this overpriced. Finally, I want to talk about the food again. I want to emphasize that the food tasted good, and everything was cooked well. My issue is that none of the courses were amazing. Not a single one did I think, holy cow I need to tell someone about this. This isn't a critique I would usually make, but this was one of the highest priced fine dining restaurants I've been to, and I expected the quality to reflect that. I even got their signature dish, the bison, and it was cooked well, but the flavors were pretty standard. If you want to feel like a king being waited on and don't mind throwing down 500-600$ on pretty good food, this is your place. If you've been saving up all year to have the most incredible meal you've had in a while, I think there are some better choices out there in the area.
