If you're craving fried chicken, Happy Chicks is as good as it gets! The fried chicken was perfectly moist on the inside, and satisfyingly crunchy on the outside. The fries were uniquely amazing - perfectly seasoned with a hint of nutmeg, perhaps? Nutmeg on fries - I can dig it! The baked mac and cheese hit the spot, and the cornbread was fresh and sweet (but not too sweet!). The sheer number of sauces you can choose from is overwhelmingly wonderful (can I bottle them all up, please?). We ended up choosing a cilantro ranch and a sun-dried tomato ranch. Amazing! Finally, I need to mention that they have a disco ball in the shape of a chicken hanging from the ceiling. I don't think it can get much better than that. This business lacks customer service and allows their waitress staff to speak to customers rudely and doesn't really care that their staff has treated you rudely. I simply asked the waitress at the bar how long the order would take because I illegally parked out front thinking my order was ready at the time it said it would be. I didn't mind driving around the block to waste time to wait but just wanted to know how long she thought it might be. Figured she would say probably about another 10 minutes like most businesses do. But instead she said "idk there's all these caterings" in a rude tone like I was bothering her asking her a question. I then said well I'm just asking bc it might be better for me to cancel. Hence I had already said I'm parked illegally. She then said ok wtvr. So I'm waiting for her to cancel my order she then starts serving a new customer a menu and gets them beers. She then goes to the back and comes back out and said it's coming out. I said what. She said ur order. I told her I said I was cancelling it the order. She was like it's on its way out again speaking rudely. At that point I said look I don't want your food, idk wtf you have done to it in the back bc your so fuckn rude. I said yea rude, look how u speak and your approach. I don't want shit from here after dealing with you bc I don't know wtf you have done to my food. I want to speak to a manager. He will be out. At that point I step towards the back and I tell the manager who only apologizes for being backed up and says he will deal with her. Happy Chicks just open a location on nueces right next the the new polvos and 360 building. Very clean and nice atmosphere. The creamed corn is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING I ordered the classic meal which in most cases come with the cornbread but they mistakenly gave me the creamed corn and thank God they did!! SOOOOO GOOD!!! it's like mashed potatoes and sweet corn mixed together!! YUM! The spicy chicken is also very yummy and the FF are on point. (Sauces) I ordered the honey mustard and honey sriracha very yummy but to order an extra its $1.99 which seriously is WAY TO HIGH in my opinion 50 cents and at the most 75 cents to me is appropriate. Amazing chicken, they have peppers in the batter, tons of dipping sauces to choose from, awesome staff and it's also a bar. I love Jalapeño margs and I was not disappointed. I have no rating for this place and this is why Today my job orders our food from here. I'm vegan, so I get a vegan box. I already new I wasn't going to eat the food, because I could smell the cheap grease it was cooked in. My husband and I came here last week on our way out of Austin and stopped in real quick. They had only been open for about 3 weeks. Really good fried chicken! The food was pretty good, but the service was awful. Granted they were a little busy and I don't think they had enough servers around. Anyway, my coworker and I go in on our lunch break and both order the classic chick meal, spicy. About 20 minutes go by and still no food, so I ask one of the bartenders. She says the kitchen missed the ticket (or it was pocketed), but it'll be right out. So two minutes later it comes out--yay!--but it doesn't come out spicy. Okayyyyyy. We're on our lunch break so we just let it slide and get to eating. After a good ten minutes of trying to flag down a bartender, we finally get someone to take our credit cards. I was in the service industry for nine years, I know how it goes. But tell me how you mix up two credit cards that are in separate check presenters with their respective tickets?! You have to really not be paying attention for that to happen. Finally my friend just told a manager about everything that happened with our meal and he graciously said he would take the charges off our cards and comp our meals. It looks like the charges came off of my card, but not my friend's. So all in all, the food is great! The service is not. And it's not because they're slackers or anything, they're just not good servers. Thank goodness for that angel manager who so kindly took care of our meal. I WILL be back because the food is still good, I just know to not go there on my limited lunch break now. As a former server, it really takes a lot for me to want to write a negative yelp review.
