I like this place better than 2 other places that are closer to me. Decided today to get spicy orange chicken with beef fried rice and a egg roll combination. A order of wings just incase I do not like the O.C. The orange chicken was really good. The right spicy kick to not over power the taste of the orange chicken. There rice is really good. Happy China has been around for yeaaaarss. Their establishment used to be where Eckerd was on W. Seventh St. which is now of course a Walgreens. I was sad that the original owners sold it to somebody else maybe 5 yrs or so ago because the food tasted so bad and was so bland! So I stopped going there. But recently, I wanted to give them another shot to see if their food has gotten any better. I'm so glad I did! The food tastes exactly how I remembered it back in the late 90's and early '00. So far I've tried the chicken with broccoli lunch special with pork fried rice and an egg roll. It was very good and tasty. I've also tried the boneless spare ribs with pork fried rice and egg drop soup, both were sooo delicious :-P Also, both times I've gone, the workers there have been very courteous and very friendly. I will definitely be back! Maybe I'll try the chicken wings next time ;-) Next time, I won't forget to take pics lol. read more

I order the same dish - General Tso's Tofu - at every Chinese takeout I go to as a common denominator to compare them. And I only write when it's notable. And Happy China's is! They use a proper egg wash (or is it Corn Starch) to give it a crispy texture. And the sauce isn't overpowering. I'm a big fan of the place just based on this dish. Side note, as I was sitting waiting for my food, I was reminded that the Chinese takeout is a beautiful thing. From its backlit signage unchanged since childhood to the neon lights (if you're lucky) reminiscent of the nineties, there's something comforting about Happy China. Don't waste your money! This place used to be average but when the former owners sold to the now current owners it's now way below average to downright awful. Simple classic staples like Egg Fu Yung come out burned and inedible. Chicken Wings w/French Fries, the fries are overcooked and the wings on any given day can vary between very small to mutant size as my husband calls them. The Fried Rice (if you can call it that, because its really pale, flavorless steamed rice with really nothing other than onion, peas and carrots) is also pretty bad. The BBQ Spare Ribs are dry and also flavorless and have no sauce on them to speak of. Chicken Noodle soup should be called "noodle soup with a hint of chicken" because you can barely find any meat at all in the soup. On top of all of this the prices are high! As far as I'm concerned way higher than they should be based on the quality of the food they produce. With all of this I can honestly say, that I have tried quite a few dishes giving Happy China a chance to finally make me and my family "happy" but alas...its a wrap for us! We will no longer patronize this establishment anymore. If I'm forced to pay exorbitant prices then I expect high quality, delicious food in exchange. I know good Chinese food because I'm formally from NY and this ain't it! Solid here. The general tsao's was fantastic. So was the money bag style crab rangoon. I enjoyed the egg roll, and wife loved the pork fried rice. The bbq ribs and chicken with garlic sauce were good, not great. There were a few small ribs I wish they just left out of the bag. The big ones were good. Also, the large portion was huge. The only disappointment was the steamed dumplings. I thought they were just bland, but wife hated them and wouldn't eat them. We will be back here for sure to try pan fried. read more

Absolutely LOVE the steamed dumplings and they are very friendly and polite. The staff will make traditional dishes With modifications to any dish you choose. Example: I love shrimp snow peas and carrots. They will leave out anything you wish. (I am not fond of water chestnuts ). All veggies are fresh and crisp. Prices are quite reasonable. I call their number in advance and pick up within 20 minutes or so. Delivery is also available and very prompt. Try this wonderful food and it will be your favorite Chinese restaurant. Went the other day because my usual spot closed/ reopened (for the worse). We decided to try this place as it is relatively close to the house. We got general tso's chicken, chicken and broccoli, and a couple of egg rolls. The egg rolls were the highlight of the meal. The food was your standard "fast food" chinese food. Not better or worse than the many other local restaurants. Generals tso's was sweet, like cotton candy sweet, with no perceptible spice or savory components (unless they were just drowned out by the SWEET). The chicken and broccoli was a little south of average. We actually drowned it in soy sauce and added some chicken stock to make the sauce passable. Really good customer service and it's convenient; if I were to go back it would be based on these two qualities. read more

Sure, sometimes I could ask for no vegetables for something and still get vegetables but they are only human. We all mix things up sometimes and it is rare that they mess up any of my orders.
