Luffa and fresh tofu skin in Chinese saucer (chef special)
    Philip Y.

This place has the best dim sum in central/north Jersey. However, they stop serving d sum at 3 pm. We came I'm after our nephew's piano recital doe a family dinner. Seven of us order six dishes to share. The last dish was Sliced beef with scallions and it was a major disappointment. For A $25 dish, it was full of scallion and red onions with very few beef filets. The chef special shrimp dish with salted egg york was another disappointment. The luffa was good but I'd them tasted a bit bitter. Don't come here for dinner, just come early to enjoy the delicious dim sum before 3 pm during weekend.

Went on Memorial Day and it was so packed-- our party was 5 people and we had to share the table with 2 other parties. They have the rolling carts though and the service is quick. Food was pretty authentic, I especially liked the chicken feet. The buns with salted egg filling was a favorite as well.

    Tofu and fish hotpot

TLDR: It's a Chinese restaurant that you can trust. The english menu won't tell you everything they make, and you will be rewarded by knowing certain foods in Chinese. Tofu and Fish hotpot: Fried white fish, fried tofu, string beans, bell peppers in a sauce that is probably reduced chicken stock. I'm biased since it's one of my favorite chinese dishes. I don't know when this specific dish is amazing, but I can tell you when it's bad. Green Lake's version is anything but bad. Shrimp Stuffed Tofu: We were given a sample since they were trying something new. The sauce is similar to the tofu hotpot but has a porkier feel because of the ground pork within the dish. The tofu is the same, but the way they fried it is different, so it took a step up. The shrimp was fine, and I think they should have this on their menu. Whole Fried Chicken: It's fine. Didn't love it. There's no batter to speak of at all, and you're reliant on the spicy sauce and ginger sauce provided. Stir Fried French Beans w/ Salted Fish: Crunchy French Beans, and very salty salted fish. Not my favorite, but it keeps things different. Hot prawn salad with broccoli: The broccoli was just boiled. Nothing to talk about. The pawn was fried and bathed in mayonnaise. What's not to like? Pork Chop: This is another Chinese restaurant staple. 85% of the chinese porkchops that you eat will taste the same. This one is no different. Hokkien Fried Rice: My chinese restaurant guilty pleasure. How else can you get a shrimp fried rice bathed in an umami sauce? The restaurant did a really good job with this and I'm glad that I asked if they had it (in chinese). Service: It was a slow night, so we had all the attention that our table needed. Ambiance: The location is big and can support small families to larger gatherings. They have a private area that fits 30+ people, so they look like the go-to spot for parties.

Went with family for a CNY dinner. Overall, a solid place for dinner. Service is what you expect (and probably looking for) with an authentic Chinese restaurant. The venue had a dining room as well as a semi-private space that could be rented out or used for additional tables. Food came out tasting as hoped.

Sweet Sauced Pork Chops , favorite food on the menu

Not a fancy Chinese restaurant but food is consistently solid. Have ordered dimsum and off the regular dinner menu. Both are great options. During dimsum they sometimes have unique dishes such as deep fried crab claw and shrimps rolls. Dinner wise, it's the usual family style dishes : Walnut Mayo Shrimp, House Fried Rice, and my fav is the deep fried pork chops with sweet sauce. Lines can get crazy on the weekend so make reservations if you have a big group or get here early if possible. Enjoy!!!

My family really wanted to come to this restaurant for dinner, so we decided to come here. Cleanliness: This restaurant was clean with no garbage on the floor or on the tables. The staff: The staff here are friendly and they refill your tea when you run out. You can ask them for water, and they can refill that as well. Prices: The prices can range anywhere from $2.00 and up depending on what you order from their menu. Pineapple beef: The pineapple was flavorful along with the beef and peppers. I enjoyed the taste of this dish. Kang kung: This vegetable dish needed a little more flavor to it, but it tasted ok. Lobster fried rice: I am allergic to the lobster, but my family enjoyed it. The fried rice was a little hard and could have a little more taste to it. Overall: The service and prices here are decent and I would probably come back here to try their dim sum at least. Just a note that if they are extremely busy at the restaurant then it could affect the taste of the food.

My family and I have had dim sum and dinner here. This is a legit Cantonese spot similar to dim sum restaurant in Avenel, NJ but a lot cleaner. The selection for dim sum is pretty good. A lot of dumplings and to fried stuff. I usually get the standard sui mai, har gaw, fong jaw. But, I really like the sticky rice in banana leaf. For dinner, I really like the crab with sticky rice. I'm itchy allergic to crab but that's my #1 dish here. The salt and pepper pork chop is not as good as other Chinese places. It's like less seasoned and doesn't have the hint of spicy from thinky sliced jalapenos. Service is really good. they don't pretend like you by saying handsome guy or pretty lady in Chinese to you when they ask you for your order. I'm not there for small talk. We there for tasty food at a reasonable price.

This is our go to spot now for dimsum or family dinner / get togethers. Most authentic and delicious Cantonese/Chinese style restaurant in the area which serves up your classic dishes like steamed fish, stir fry lobster, noodles and rice dishes. We like the jellyfish appetizer here and the shrimp and walnut dish. Dimsum selection is plentiful but it can get quite busy here on the holiday weekends.

Not sure if it's what I ordered or because they sat my group in the back, but I didn't think the food had much flavor. I was expecting more of wok-hei flavor (iykyk), but everything just tasted okay. Pros of Green Lake: they have push cart dim sum, don't have to share a table if you have a small group, variety of dim sum is great Cons: The restaurant gets incredibly crowded while you wait. It's also not entirely clear where to get a number either. However wait time isn't terrible.

    John Y.

Nice place and friendly staff. The dim sum was very good. The steamed riblets and the steamed beef balls and steamed beef rice noodles were my favorite. The skin of the beef rice noodles was soft and silky, wish their sauce with it was a little sweeter. The steamed beef balls was outstanding. The steamed riblets was so good, so much so I wanted a bowl of white rice to accommodate it. Over all their dim sum is very good. Will go there for dinner next time.

Food: We ordered 2 sets of soup dumplings, pork buns and kang pao chicken. The soup dumplings were tiny and the meat had a little too much fat. The vineger sauce came in like a take out cup. However, the soup dumplings wasn't on the menu so I think they made it just because we asked, which was nice of them. The pork buns and kangpao chicken was good but I would have liked more spice / flavor. We didn't get much else since we were in a hurry. Service: We also were given tea as soon as we walked in, which made the place feel authentic. Servers were attentive. I think the workers there were eating there but when they saw that we were ready to order, they had servers coming to our table to get our order. I think they also noticed we were in a hurry so they brought food as soon as it was ready and kept us aware of when our food will be coming. Ambiance was nice. Outside doesn't look the best but inside the restaurant looked nice. We will probably come back to try their dim sum and other food when we have more time.

    Dim Sum Galore!!!!

Who says all the great dim sum restaurants are only in NYC????? As a native New Yorker, I have to admit that I wasn't too educated on the dim sum landscape and scene in New Jersey until a few years ago. I figured NJ had some dim sum restaurants, but nothing on par with NYC restaurants. So, like the "ignorant, know-it-all" native New Yorker that I grew up to be, I've been pleasantly surprised by how good a few dim sum restaurants in NJ have been and, after having frequented 7 different dim sum restaurants, Green Lake might be the BEST of them allllllll. We dropped by on an early Saturday afternoon at exactly 12pm on the dot. Not to our surprise, the restaurant was poppin' like a club at 12am - lots of noise, lots of foot traffic and, a sight to behold - dim sum carts being pushed around. Whenever you step foot into a dim sum restaurant and see those cart ladies feverishly making their rounds around the dining room with their carts delicious dim sum goodness, it's typically a good sign, so giddiness set in for me that this was a precursor to a potentially good, or even GREAT, experience. Within 10 minutes, we were already seated at our own spacious table, which was shockingly quick. The cart ladies wasted no time pouncing on their fresh meat...I meant customers...and we were already inundated with hard sells on various dim sum dishes. However, despite our rejection on some dishes being shoved into our faces, the ladies were surprisingly quite nice and receptive to the rejection - unlike many other dim sum establishments. The cart ladies here were VERY active and quite energetic and enthusiastic. It felt like the whole staff was the same way and there was just this team vibe going on. At times, some of the cart ladies left their carts unmanned just to walk across the dining room to bring dishes to customers - and the restaurant was quite spacious. OK OK I'll stop it with the observations about the restaurant and staff and FINALLY talk about the food. Soooo, the food you say???? EXCELLENT. Great flavors on most of the dim sum dishes and loved that there was a fantastic variety too - beef and shrimp rice noodle rolls, shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, sticky rice in lotus leaf, turnip cake, steamed chicken feet, spring rolls, beef meatballs, mini egg tarts, chive dumplings, steamed spare ribs, sweet tofu AND, my favorite dessert at dim sum, that ever jiggly coconut pudding. There were a few things I didn't see like roast pork rice noodle rolls, roast pork buns and steamed sponge cake/rolls, which I would have loved to have tried, but they were not dealbreakers in any way. Our only knocks on the food were that not everything was piping hot. Most were lukewarm when they arrived, which benefited us in an odd way because our kids needed it cooled off anyway. Also, the steamed chicken feet was not great compared to other restaurants. However, the 2 complaints we had didn't come close to putting a damper on our experience here because everything worked out so well. I have to admit that NJ's dim sum scene has been very disappointing at times, but Green Lake definitely brings some dim sum cred back to the Garden State!

Good Cantonese food. Went there for dinner since my husband insisted "need to eat chicken on your birthday" as a good custom that was taught by his parents.
